Ruby and the Guild
chapter 2
Despite Mirajanes best efforts. Ruby simply did not wake up. It has been three days since she was rescued and secured into the infirmary inside the Fairy Tail guild. And while at first glance nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Mirajane was having some terrible nighmares and some even worse sleep. When Gramps explained the extend of Ruby's injuries when he was sitting drunk at the bar this one fateful evening. It was so terrible, it brought the mood down, of the whole guild. What didn't exactly help is when Porlyusica entered the room she decided to end the discussion regarding how Ruby got those injuries. She confirmed it was likely caused by self-sacrifice. Something that Ruby at the young, young age of three would never normally do. But she did mention that whenever there is a wish, there is a will. So even someone as young as Ruby could, in theory, do something as extreme as this. She explained that in the early days of the human brain, they are fully depended on those around them. And if the child believed that the one that she depends on is going to die, she would and could use her own life to protect others. However unlikely it is, it is possible. Shutting the discussion up instantly. And while this confirmed most people's suspicion, it left little room for positive thoughts. All but one thought was most dominant. Why? Why would this child do this? Whatever the reason, her action was heroic in ways that the adults could learn from.
Mirajane sighed incredibly deeply. You could feel the weight of the sigh from across the room. "When will she ever wake up...?" She mumbled to herself. However quiet it might have been, didn't matter since Porlyusica was sitting at the bar and heard the mumble from Mirajane.
"That..." she sips her beer, "Is hard to say. If she really self-sacrificed herself then her mental state is really, really poor. Physically she is fine now. Mentally on the other side..."
"I know, doctor. But that doesn't make it any less difficult on us. You know." Mirajane complaint. "Especially on me though."
"Why specifically on you?"
"That crack. Combined with a child in terrible condition and a self-sacrifice. It reminds me too much of... well, Lisanna." Mirajane admits.
"That is a fair comparison. Just rest child. She will be fine-" Porlyusica was about to calm Mirajane down when her awareness took a hit coming from the infirmary. Causing her head to snap in the direction of the infirmary. She looks at Mirajane and nodded as if to say, 'check that out.' Mirajane nodded and headed into the infirmary. The child was awake and confused. "Where...?" The child then noticed Mirajane carefully approaching her. She carefully looked at Mirajane as if she was inspecting her. "Where am I?" She asks.
"What do you remember?" Mirajane asked instead. The child furrows their eyebrows as she tries to remember what had happened.
"Bits... pieces?" the child replied, while holding her head in pain.
"Sure. What do you think happened?" Mirajane asked again. Porlyusica shook her head at Mirajane, "Don't ask. She just got up."
"No... No... Is fine..." The child dizzily replied. "Mommy was... having food with me in... a... place with trees?"
"A forest." Mirajane supplied.
"Yeah! A forest... Pickwick?" She said.
"Picnic."
"Mhm. Then man... I don't know... Exits some bushes with a knife on him. He attacked mom. Got hurt by him." The child said scared and sad. "He was about to... Kill mom. I was angry and scared. I couldn't run. Jelly legs. Then I watch as mom was about to be... hit by knife near chest. I wasn't thinking. I jumped."
"So that is how you received those terrible wounds." Mirajane said causing the child to nod their head. "Then I hear boom. And everything... Just... So much white. And now I am here..."
"What is your name child?" Porlyusica asked trying to switch the subject.
"Ruby Rose." Ruby replied nearly instantly. Ruby looked really proud at herself for not forgetting her surname. That act wasn't lost on the other girls in the room as they smiled at the cuteness.
"Nice to meet you Ruby. My name is Mirajane and this is Porlyusica." Mirajane said as she introduced herself and Porlyusica.
"Uhm...? Mire and Po... Por... Porly?" Ruby said trying to speak Porlyusica's name but failing.
"Just calle me Mira." Mirajane said as she simplified her speech.
"Just call me doctor." Porlyusica also replied. "Ignoring Mirajane's question. How are you feeling?"
"Tired."
"Any pain?"
"No... Where...?"
"Ah. You are in our..." Mirajane hesitated. How could she explain where they are to a child that is both not from this world and incredibily confused.
"You are in a clinic at the moment." Porlyusica replied instead. "This clinic is part of a larger structure but... Well you aren't quite ready to explore more yet. You still need plenty of rest."
"Okay." Ruby said as she made a big yawn. She then closed her eyes and fell back asleep.
Mirajane then walked out of the clinic with Porlyusica. "Thank you. I wasn't quite sure how to explain where she is. Since she is not from Fiore."
"Mhm. That will be hard to explain. That being said, where is Lucy?"
"I think she is currently investigating the location where Ruby was found. Alongside Levy. They are trying to triangulate Ruby's last known position in the multiverse. But it seems they are having a hard time. When Ruby is a bit brighter, we could ask things she knows about her original home. But until then, it is more or less a wild goose chase." Mirajane explained.
"I see. What about the rest of her gang?"
"Natsu and Gray are training... Or as Erza puts it, they are fighting off their depression. Erza meanwhile has gone to the capital of Fiore to create an identification card for Ruby. Since it is likely that Ruby will be staying with us for a while."
"I see. Listen. I have patients that need my attention now. With Ruby restored, I will leave her in yours and Erza's capable hands. That means that you two are responsible for her. Okay?" Porlyusica stated.
"Understood. Thank you for saving her life doc. Leave her in our more than capable hands." Mirajane replied with a smile. "The Fairy Tail Guild will take good care of Ruby Rose."
"Good." Porlyusica said as she departed away from the guild.
"Gramps. Are you around?" Mirajane asked as she approached the bar.
"I am here." Gramps said from inside his office.
"Can I come in? I need to report some things."
"The door is open." Gramps said as Mirajane opened the door and walked in. She then closed the door behind her and walk closer to Guildmaster's desk. "What is the matter?"
"Lucy and Levy are still busy on her wild goose chase. Natsu and Gray have temporarily set aside their differences and are training together. Erza is preparing Ruby's identification paperwork and card. And Ruby woke up a moment ago and explained that she really did jump in front of a knife to save her mother. She has gone back to sleep soon after." Mirajane explained. The part of Ruby jumping in front of a knife caused Gramps to pause himself.
"Well... As much as I hate to be right. I want to say, I told you so." Gramps sighed after saying that. "Anyhow, how are you feeling? I can only assume that this confirmation will only worsen your nightmares."
"Well the fact that the child woke up to begin with, will lessen it also. It appears she was having a picnic in a forest with her mom. When they got ambushed by an evil person. That person tried to kill her mother but in her mother's final moments, she jumped in front of the knife. And immediatly afterwards got send across the dimensional crack in the sky. I can only presume that her mother must be feeling what I was feeling when it happened with Lisanna." Mirajane explained.
"That does make the situation feel a bit worse. So... She teleported in a forest near her mother. That is one clue. But still not enough." Gramps said. "Right now we are doing everything we can to collect information on the child. To make the triangulation less a wild goose chase and more a proper search."
"Porlyusica has given Erza and me the responsibility to watch over the child and if need be, train her." Mirajane stated.
"I see. Perhaps she should learn Erza's swordswomen combat first before trying to teach her Demon Magic." Gramps replied.
"If the body isn't strong enough. The magic could destroy her after all." Mirajane agreed.
"That and it might work on her potential trauma of knives. If she even remembers that much. Then a trauma is something that is going to follow no matter what."
"Yeah. You got that right." Mirajane turned around. "That was all to report. What should I do now?"
"As Porlyusica said. You are now the responsible duo in charge of Ruby. You will need to stay by her side. Beside with the amount of sleep you got. I wouldn't want to grab any quests. That is just asking to get yourself killed." Gramps said, "I recommend going to go fully as a waitress at the bar. And only switching back and forth when Ruby wakes up once more. She will also probably be quite hungry. Give her something warm and easy to eat. Her body only just recently healed after all. Finally as you have done before, don't do any S-rank quests. Seriously, do not."
"Yes, Guildmaster." Mirajane said, not even resisting a little bit. Mirajane then calmly walked back to the bar and began cleaning the already sparkling clean glass cups. It was a way for her to calm down. Despite her peaceful exterior, she was feeling a various types of emotions. Happiness that Ruby woke up, sadness that Ruby was still hurt mentally. Anger that Ruby had to do this to save her mother and confusion on her future now that Ruby has entered her life. With Ruby as just another child to take care of, older feelings from back in the day somehow came back to the forefront. The need to be protective, but not too protective or else she will fall in the same trap as decades ago.
With Mirajane fully distracted, she didn't even notice Erza entering the guild hall. Erza was carrying a smaller than usual bag filled with lots of paperwork. It contained all the paperwork to confirm Ruby's identity. Minus their name, since she wasn't aware her name right now. So she approached the still fully distracted Mirajane. Something that didn't go unnoticed by Erza. In fact, Erza knew all about Mirajane's small ticks, including her now blank stare while automatically cleaning obviously clean cups and plates. Instead of calling Mirajane out, she calmly and carefully placed her hand on Mirajane's left shoulder. This shook Mirajane awake as she looked down to see Erza.
"Erza, you have returned. Welcome back." Mirajane said, with little to no joy in her voice.
"Did she wake up?"
"Yes. And she confirmed our suspicion. Her name is Ruby Rose." she replied.
"Alright." Erza said as she began to write Ruby's name across all paperwork she was carrying.
"Also Porlyusica has made us two responsible for her. We are to take care of her, train her and most importantly be there for her." Mirajane added.
"Understood." Erza said as she added that information on the paperwork.
"If the child wants to learn." Gramps said he exited his office, "I want you to begin training Ruby in full, Erza."
"You want to teach her Requip magic?" Erza asked as she momentarially looked up from her paperwork.
"No. Not the magic behind your weapons. Your weapons itself. Teach her variety of weapons types and armor types. And only after that will you teach her magic. Firstly Requip magic and only maybe after that, Demon Magic." Gramps requested.
"Why Demon magic? Wouldn't a complimentary magic like key magic be a better choice?" Erza questioned.
"Because teaching her about white and black magic is important too. She mustn't see magic as good or bad. She must see it as a means to an end. She must use magic sparingly or secretly. If her world has any magic, she would have shown that by now. The fact that I can sense a tiny amount of magic in her, means her world has magic. Just very little." Gramps explained, "The fact that they can be ambushed in a forest only to nearly die by some stranger's hands is a worrying fact. It probably means that her world isn't a safe one. Thus we must teach her combat, at the very least swordswoman skills. And maybe after that we can teach her magic."
"Erza you will be in charge of her combat skills. Mirajane you will be in charge of her education in general. Teach her about this world. Teach her basic education things like math, history and most importantly survival instinct. The latter one being the most important. I want her to be ready to go home whenever she wants. We mustn't force her to go back, okay?" Gramps instructed.
"Yes, guildmaster." Both said as the same time.
"Good. Mirajane I can sense the child waking up as we speak. Get her food ready. Erza prepare yourself. I want you to introduce the guild to her. And this world in the best of your abilities. Remember, Ruby is three years old!" He ordered around.
Mirajane quickly went to the kitchen to whip something up. Meanwhile Erza placed all completed paperwork that needed to be checked on Gramp's desk. Then calmly moved over to the clinic. She then took a seat next to the child. Not many moments later, Ruby opened her eyes once more. This time she was quite hungry as she looked to her left once again, she saw someone else sitting there. "Hello little one, My name is Erza Scarlet. Mira is currently getting you something to eat. But in the meantime, would you like to explore the larger structure of the guild?"
Ruby took some moment to regain her vision. "Um... Erza. What is a guild?"
"Are you familiar with clubs? Like school club?" Erza asked instead.
Ruby shook her head, "No..."
"Hm... A guild is a place where people gather and do things together. That... is the best explanation I can give you right now."
"Like a school?"
"In a sense, yes. But it is more like an hangout location. Then a school. You don't really learn much here." Erza explained. Erza looked at Ruby's confused look, realizing that she wasn't making sense to her. "How about this. Do you know anyone that is strong?" Erza asked, probing Ruby for more intel.
"My mom! And dad! And my Sister are so strong!" Ruby said, her mood doing a one eighty as she went from sad and confused to excited and happy.
"Really? What makes them so strong?"
"Their weapons are so cool!" Ruby obviously responded with firstly. "Besides that, I... Don't know. Perhaps those... Those... Uhm... Monsters are so strong that they force mommy to become strong too?" Ruby said slightly less certain. The word monster rang alarm bells inside Erza's head. Clearly Gramp's assessment was spot on.
"What kind of weapons were they?" Erza asked slightly more curious.
"I think mommy called them Mecha weapons... I don't quite know what that means but... Mommy's weapon is usual straight like a normal sword. But at a click of a button she is able to curve her blade to do more... damage!" Ruby said excited and proud for not messing a single word up. Again, that didn't go unnoticed but Erza was too deep in thought to care.
'Mecha... So mechanical weaponry. Also known as Weapons that can transform on the fly. They would both be handy if their really do need to fight monsters. But it would also make the weapon unwieldy and heavy. If her mother really can swing it around like it is nothing... That would require some strength and force.' Erza thought. Clearly this topic resonated with Erza too. After all she was the swordswoman of the Fairy Tail guild. That said, while she wouldn't be able to help her gain a mecha weapon, she could teach how to use anything and everything as a weapon. Which might actually be a lot more brutal for whoever their enemy might be.
"Mommy is a huntress! So is dad. And my sister is currently in training to be one. They are so cool..." Ruby continued on, without a care in the world. "Mommy called her weapon a sword-scythe combo weapon. My sister has shotgun gauntlets. But daddy is so strong, he does not need no weapons. He could make a monster explode just by punching it with his bare fists!"
"What about you?" Erza asked, unknowingly stepping on a landmine, "Are you any strong too?"
Ruby immediately drooped at the question. "No. Mommy says I am not quite ready yet. Even though my sister at my age was already swinging around a great sword. I can't even properly punch someone yet." Ruby once again became sad. Just sad though, no confusion.
"I see. What if I told you, I will teach you the sword?" Erza said, hoping that this would turn Ruby's mood around. And boy was she right.
"Did mommy get me a teacher?" Ruby said excited. It was then that Erza realized. The only way to continue this conversation without causing any miscommunication was to... tell the truth.
"I..." Erza hesitated, she hated to be the bearer of bad news. But she had no choice. "I am sorry Ruby. But... you aren't exactly where you think you are."
"Huh?"
"After you got stabbed, you remember the world turning white right?" Erza asked, Ruby merely nodded dumbly in response.
"Well, that was you getting moved from one place to another against your will. You are no longer... wherever you were before. You are now in someplace totally else. And not just city to city, country to country... No, world to world." Erza tried to explain.
"So... Where is mommy?"
"Back at wherever she was, when she was nearly stabbed to death. Meanwhile you are safe, just nowhere near your mother. Like, there is no way we can connect back to your mother either. It will take time and courage."
"Courage?" Ruby was sad but she was actually more curious and excited. To her, this was far more interesting than normally.
"Yes. While we search for a way back home. All I can offer you, is to become strong. Like really, really strong. We will teach you a lot of things. Fighting but also magic."
"Magic?! This... place has magic?! My... home has no magic. Nobody has any magic. But... this world has magic?!" Ruby said, her excitement reaching a new height.
"Yes. And while we won't teach you immediately any magic. I will teach you to become strong. Stronger than your mom or dad, or your sister. All that it requires is one thing. The courage to keep waiting for a way home. We will find a way, we just need your time, Ruby. The courage to wait however long it might take. Myself and Mirajane will be in charge of you. But there are lots of other people in the guild that will help you. I will teach you swordswoman skills, Mirajane will eventually teach you magic. If you want to learn how to shoot a weapon, I am sure we got someone for that. All I ask of you, is courage. If you don't mind being away from your family for the time being. That is all I ask for. Meanwhile we will use all our resources to find a way back for you. Alright?" Erza explained and asked.
"Okay! Mommy will be so proud when I will see her again!"
"Good. Now how about that tour I mentioned..."
"Sure!" Ruby said excited. She carefully tried to step out of bed only for her weakened legs to collapse on the ground. She was about to ask for help when Erza picked Ruby up and put her legs on her shoulder. With Ruby on her shoulders, Erza could begin the tour in full.
As they left the clinic, Ruby was immediately amazed by the scale of the main hall. The was a bar opposite to the clinic, tons of benches and tables in between. A stage to the left and a board with lots of interesting pictures directly next to the bar. There were lots of interesting things to look at in Ruby's mind. Besides the bar and the podium, Ruby couldn't quite grasp what the other stuff was for. But she was already happy to be someplace else. As Erza approached the bar, she greeted Gramps.
"Ruby. This is Gramps. He is in charge of this place." Erza explained.
"Hey, little one. My name is Gramps. You may call me Uncle too. Whichever is easier for you." Gramps said, he had a big smile on his face.
Ruby looked at him, curiosity won out against her shyness. "Ruby." She simply said. Gramps and Erza could tell that she was to shy to say more. This was good enough for now anyways.
"Erza I made sure to send everyone away for quests. To make Ruby's stay a bit easier on her." Gramps explained. "Well, everyone beside Mirajane."
"Good call. I think Ruby is already plentifully overwhelmed with just the sheer scale of the main hall." Erza said in agreement. "Hey Ruby, is there anywhere you want to explore?"
Ruby looked at Erza, then she glanced around and pointed to a room behind the bar. "What is that place?" Erza and Gramps looked at what she is pointing.
"Come let me show you." Gramps said. Causing Erza to follow him behind the bar and into his office. "Welcome to my office. This is where I do all the official stuff and paperwork."
"Oh~" Ruby replied satisfied with that answer. "It kinda looks my dad's room. He was an important someone... I think. He was always in there writing on papers and stuff. He sometimes would let me enter to play with my toys and stuff."
"I see. Probably for supervision." Erza deduced.
"Can we go back? I think I saw some kind of staircase leading down." Ruby asked, as she suddenly took the lead. Erza and Gramps clearly didn't mind as they went back and down the stairs. They then passed through a hallway and into an room with lots of toys.
"Welcome to the arcade." Erza said. "As soon as you are ready to learn magic, this place would the your beginner classroom. This pool table gets controlled using magic tools. It is the perfect place to get used to the basics of magic usages."
"Uhm... Arkeede?" Ruby said confused.
"A toy room meant for teenagers and adults." Gramps simplified it. "With magic being the tools used as toy."
"I see." Ruby said slightly excited.
"Lets go back. There is a place I want to show you." Erza said, as she walked back. She went back into the main hall and out the back. Appearing behind the guild and in front of the ocean.
"Ooh! The sea! My home is surrounded by the sea!" Ruby explained.
"Yes. We will use the beach as a place to train your skill using swords and other tools. Meanwhile we will use the sea to train your stamina. The poor footing of the sand is perfect to train your stance." Erza explained. She then got closer to the sea. "Now then, you can choose. We will continue to tour or we can already begin your first training. Your call."
"Hmm..." Ruby was torn. At first glance she would love to begin her training immediately. But on the other, this place is super new to her. She doesn't want to get lost. Plus she still felt weak in her legs. "Let's continue the tour. I don't think I am ready yet."
"Good call. That was a test by the way. To check whether or not you have a good head on your shoulders. Yeah, I agree. You aren't ready yet. Once you are, I will tell you." Erza smiled.
"Dad always said, "Before you can train, you must be ready first. Don't get lost and you won't lose your way." Is what he always told me." Ruby explained.
"That is excellent advise. Good. Let me show you where you will be living for now. Maybe when you get older you will get the chance to join our dorms. Fairy Hill. But for right now, you will be staying inside the guild hall itself. They have guests rooms, perfect for this situation." Erza explained.
"Uh..." Ruby didn't get any of that.
"You will be staying with my family." Gramps said instead. "We live inside the building of that hall you saw earlier. It is closer to us, and safe for you for now. Fairy Hills is a dorms, a place where people that work together live. But it is a bit too far away for you, little one."
"Okay!" Ruby understood that much. Erza grumbled, she realized that she must have used too many unnecessary words to get the point across. Or rather too many difficult words. Causing Ruby to lose the point of that sentence.
Erza then carried Ruby back inside and went to the first floor. She entered Ruby's room for the time being. "This is your temporary home. Since you are a child, you don't need to worry. We will take care of all... uh..."
"Costs? Like money and stuff?" Ruby supplemented.
"Yes, and food." Erza said with a smile.
"Okay. Can you put me on that bed please? I am getting really tired." Ruby kindly asked. Erza then placed Ruby on the bed. And before she could get another word in, Ruby fell asleep almost the moment she hit the pillow. Causing Erza to smile. Gramps and Erza then quietly leave the room, letting Ruby take the necessary rest.
"She will likely be hungry when she wakes up. Could you send Mirajane up here as soon as that happens? I really need to get going."
"Of course. But what will you be doing? I cannot give you any quests for the time being. I will take care of your rent and food costs while you take care of Ruby." Gramps asked.
"Why, prepare the stuff for Ruby's training of course! A wooden training sword is a must! Plus I will need books with information that is easy to process for a child like Ruby." Erza explained.
"I see. By the way, we got lots of hint about Ruby's whereabouts in her previous world. A world filled with monsters, a world without magic, her home atleast has an office and she lives near the ocean. Plus her local area is surrounded by the sea. That is a lot of information. If only we got the name of those monsters and the name of her world. And we would be set." Gramps said.
"Yes. But I have an condition. Even if we found an way back. I want Ruby to be really strong first. I cannot in good faith send that child back without being atleast a B grade adventurer and having some kind of magical backbone to work with." Erza admitted.
"I agree with you there. But once we figure out the name of her world and the name of those monsters. It will literally be the waiting game until the correct world clicked. Besides something tells me, that this event has only happened in one world. So I doubt we got to weed out too many false positives." Gramps stated.
Erza nodded before she left the main hall to prepared Ruby's school material. Causing Gramps to head back to the bar. He really wanted to take a sip, but before he could do so. Lucy returned by herself.
"Hey Gramps! Got any new leads?" Lucy asked, "Right now we are hitting a brick wall."
"Many in fact. Let me tally up what we got so far. Her world is filled with monsters. It contains no magic, or atleast not what she has seen. Her home is near the ocean. And her local area is surrounded by the sea."
"So a water world and most landmasses are surrounded by the ocean. It is filled with hostile monsters and they cannot use magic to fend them off." Lucy deduced.
"Also my gut tells me that this event. Her near stabbing to death, is one of a kind. So keep that in mind."
"That is good news. We will be able to lower the count even further. All we need now is the name of those monsters and the name of her home world." Lucy wanted to say more, but then a sound above her distracted her. She turned around and looked up. She saw the child awake and well. Standing strong on her own legs.
"Ah, Ruby you are awake, already?" Gramps asked.
"Mhm. Couldn't sleep very well. Got a nightmare. Who is that?"
"Hello Ruby. My name is Lucy Heartfillia. Just call me Lucy. I am one of the two people in charge of finding a way back home."
"Ah!" Ruby said as she excitedly ran down the stairs. Nearly tripping over nothing in the process. But quickly regaining herself and running towards Lucy.
"Careful!" Gramps shouted.
"Sorry!" She quickly replied.
"So... how far are you?" Ruby asks once she in front of Lucy.
"We have run into a brick wall. We need the name of your world and the name of those monsters." Lucy replied.
"Mommy called my world, Remnant. And daddy called those monsters, Grim." Ruby replied without hesitation.
"Do you know why either is called that?" Lucy asked.
"Not sure. Perhaps the the world is called that because of the moon. The Grim I think are called that because they are black creatures. And because... uhm... they get attracted to... bad... emotions I think." Ruby replied.
"Mh... Thank you Ruby. That will be most useful! Good luck training under Erza's teachings. She is a bit of Sparta, but she means well." Lucy said.
"Mhm! She is so nice. I am just glad someone is willing to train me to begin with... My daddy and mommy says no all the time. Even though... I want to be strong like my sister too." Ruby complains. But before she wants to keep going, her belly growled.
"Ah!"
"Looks like she finally gained an appetite. Hey Mirajane! How far are you? The patient is getting hungry!" Gramps shouted into the back.
"I'm coming!" Mirajane shouted back, only a few moments later. Mirajane reappeared with a large pan filled with porridge made out of chicken stock. She placed it on the table in front of Ruby. She then grabbed a wooden bowl and poured some of it, into the bowl. She then grabs a spoon and placed it next to the bowl. Ruby then grabs the spoon and takes a bite of the porridge. It was apparently so good, that Ruby quickly downed not just one but several bowls full of the porridge. Curiously, Lucy too grabs a bowl full of the porridge and eats it next to Ruby.
"Wow. That is some of the best porridge I have ever had. Mira when did you learn to cook? This is amazing! You should sell it on a daily basis! I would totally buy it!" Lucy said pleasantly surprised. Lucy watched as Gramps grabbed a spoon, and took a spoon full of that porridge to test it.
"Agreed. If you want to, you can sell it. I will permit it." Gramps said impressed.
"Thank you everyone. I will see if I can get the chef to make my recipe. I will warn you though. Just making a pan full took six hours to make." Mirajane said smiling.
"And it shows!" Gramps and Lucy said at the same time.
"Uhm... Can you guys also make chocolate chip cookies?" Ruby asks curiously.
"Sure. I will make you some whenever we are celebrating something. That way you won't get fat and will have something to look forward to." Mirajane replied.
"Oh! The reward system! My mom used that all the time... Though she did always cheat on it too." Ruby said with a sad smile. "Where is Erza? I want to start!"
"How about, I will guide you to the ocean, and we can begin doing some stamina training." Mira offered Ruby.
"Okay!"
