When Monday morning finally rolled around Jack was tearing his hair out. He had told Ianto to go and have a good time and apparently that's exactly what he did, aside from a perfunctory text late Friday night that had said "arrived safe, see you Monday" he hadn't heard a peep from the man. Not that he was clingy in any way, Jack Harkness had a reputation to uphold after all. But if he was honest with himself, he'd missed the Welshman more than he would've anticipated and had hoped Ianto felt the same.

When the cog door sounded, he flung himself from his office chair and hurtled towards it, slowing just before he got there so it wouldn't be too obvious to Ianto just how desperate he was to see him. But it wasn't Ianto that raised an eyebrow at his less than subtle approach but Tosh,

"Morning Jack" she said in amusement, "keen to see someone are we?"

Jack rolled his eyes at her fondly, "Don't tell him…. Although I'm surprised he's not here yet to be honest"

"It's still early, I just wanted to come in to check on that recalibration programme I left running, easier to concentrate on complex data without the rest of the rabble here"

Jack nodded and watched her head off to her desk before turning his attention back to the door. He supposed it was still early, although it was very un-Ianto to not be the first one in on a Monday, particularly after a weekend off, he'd be desperate to sort out whatever state the hub would've been left in in his absence. By the time Gwen and Owen got in an hour later, Jack was well on his way to panicked.

"Tosh can you run a check on Ianto's phone? It's not like him to be this late"

"His train wasn't due till late last night he probably just got home and crashed for the night" Tosh reasoned, typing in her usual speedy efficiency on her computer, "Yes, see his phone's at his flat, he clearly just slept in after his busy weekend"

"Something about this doesn't feel right" Jack murmured before springing into action, shrugging into his coat, "I might just head over there and see…"

"Wait, Jack, I…" Tosh swallowed, "Ianto's phone signal hasn't moved since Friday"

"Maybe he forgot to take it with him?" Gwen suggested tentatively, wincing slightly as she was met with three identical looks of disbelief. Ianto Jones did not forget things. Jack picked up his own phone and gave him a call, cursing as he got the message that Ianto's mailbox was full.

"Owen with me" Jack called, "Ianto might be ill or unconscious or…. Just come with me"

Owen nodded and followed behind him, almost having to break into a run to catch up as Jack headed for the SUV. He barked orders through his headset as they moved, praying he was overreacting as he raced to cover every possible scenario,

"Gwen get onto the police reports see if there is anything involving someone of Ianto's description. It's a long shot but…"

"Doing it now" she got straight to her computer, determined concern all over her face.

"Tosh pull the CCTV from around his flat for the weekend, see if he left at all, maybe he did leave his phone... and see if he had any unexpected visitors"

"There have been glitches in the system citywide, but I'll see what I can do"

She began typing furiously as she heard the SUV screech out of the car park through the coms. She would no doubt be writing off some speeding tickets later on too, but such things were hardly important when Ianto could be in danger.

Jack entered the flat with his Webley held aloft, unable to explain why but knowing something was very wrong. He was hoping beyond hope that he'd find Ianto wrapped up in bed with a bad flu or something, a perfectly reasonable explanation despite him being in perfect health when he'd left the Hub days earlier.

The flat was as immaculate as always, not a single item out of place. Jack warily stepped through into the open plan space, nodding to Owen to start checking around the place in their usual formation. He was going to feel really stupid when he nudged the bedroom door open and saw the confused look on a sickly Ianto's face, he tried to convince himself. But he knew before he even reached the other room that he wouldn't find Ianto there. The air in the flat was too quiet, too still. He reached the bedroom and found the bed perfectly made as Ianto no doubt would've left it on Friday morning, he hadn't planned on returning home before making his trip. So what had happen to lead to his phone being sat in the middle of his bed. Jack picked up the device gingerly, noting the missed call from him flashing up along with 19 missed calls from Ianto's sister.

"Jack" Owen said quietly from behind him, "He's not been here…. And he clearly didn't make it to the wedding did he?"

Jack shook his head mutely, "so where….?" He jumped as the phone in his hand started ringing, an unknown number was trying to video chat. With a quick glance to Owen who nodded grimly, Jack accepted the call and was unable to keep in the gasp that escaped him.

The call was linked to a CCTV feed, a pretty poor quality one judging by the glitchy image on the screen. A shrunken figure sat tied to a metal chair in the centre of the barren room, the shirt he'd been wearing now in tatters and covered with stains that Jack refused to believe were blood. His head was dipped practically into his lap so they couldn't see his face but it was unmistakably Ianto. The room he was in was so nondescript it was almost cliche, but Jack tried to take in every single detail, anything that could give him some clue as to where Ianto was being held.

"Tosh" Jack barked into the comms, "get a trace on the call currently transmitting to Ianto's phone"

"oh, Jack" a voice tutted mockingly through the phone "do you really think id make it that easy for you?"

"Who the hell are you?!" Jack yelled into the phone, "Where is he?!"

"I can't believe you don't recognise me" the voice was female, not much of an accent, and as much as he tried Jack couldn't place it with all the other thoughts whirling through his head, "Shows how forgettable we all are doesn't it"

"Let him go or I swear I'll…"

"You'll what" she practically cackled, "there's nothing else you can do to me Harkness"

"Who are you? What do you want with him?!" Jack was beyond furious, not least at himself. Ianto moaned softly as his head lolled to the side, revealing a monstrous black eye and several gashes down the side of his face. Jack reached out towards the phone screen as if he could just reach in there and grab him.

"Ianto I'll find you, I swear I will"

There was no more movement from the man in the chair, whether because he couldn't hear or he simply didn't have it in him to react there was no way of knowing.

"Ah I'm sure you will. Well, parts of him anyway" the woman giggled, "well, best be off. There's much more fun to be having! Tata now!"

At the last words the screen showed a man approaching Ianto, and Jack's jaw tightened painfully as he realised the man was brandishing an electric prod. With one menacing glance towards the camera the humungous beast of a man centred his attention on Ianto. The last thing they heard before the call ended was Ianto's agonising scream echoing off the bare concrete walls.
