The Uchiha Rebellion
Chapter 10: The Union between lovers
The Konoha ceremonial hall was a dazzling display of elegance and grandeur, adorned with vibrant flowers and banners that celebrated the union of two of the village's most esteemed shinobi. Guests from all over had gathered to witness this momentous occasion—the marriage of Minato Namikaze and Akane Uchiha. The hall buzzed with excitement, but there were undercurrents of tension and unspoken thoughts hidden behind the smiles and whispered congratulations.
Minato stood at the front, his posture straight and confident, yet there was a gentleness in his gaze as he watched Akane approach. Dressed in a flowing white kimono adorned with delicate Uchiha symbols, she looked every bit the regal bride, her raven-black hair framing her face like a crown. She moved with grace and poise, her steps light and purposeful as she made her way down the aisle.
The Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, stood between them, his expression serene yet proud. He glanced at Minato, then at Akane, before clearing his throat and beginning the ceremony.
"We are gathered here today to witness the union of two extraordinary shinobi—Minato Namikaze, the Fourth Hokage of Konoha, and Akane Uchiha, a kunoichi of unparalleled strength and determination."
The words carried through the hall, each one carefully chosen to highlight the achievements and status of the bride and groom. Yet, despite the celebratory atmosphere, there were those whose smiles did not reach their eyes.
Kushina stood in the second row, her heart aching as she watched the man she had loved for so many years exchange vows with someone else. Dressed in a vibrant red kimono, her long crimson hair tied back elegantly, she looked radiant. But inside, she felt as if she were falling apart.
Minato's gaze never left Akane's, his voice strong and unwavering as he made his vows. "I, Minato Namikaze, promise to cherish and honor you, Akane Uchiha, for as long as I live. I vow to protect you, support you, and be the partner you deserve, through every challenge that may come our way."
Akane's eyes shone with unshed tears as she responded, her voice steady despite the emotions that threatened to overwhelm her. "And I, Akane Uchiha, promise to stand by your side, Minato Namikaze. To be your strength when you falter, your light in the darkest of times. I vow to love you with every fiber of my being, no matter what the future holds."
Kushina bit her lip, trying to keep her emotions in check. She should have been happy—happy that her friends had found each other, happy that Minato had someone who understood and loved him so deeply. But all she felt was a crushing sense of loss and jealousy. Her heart screamed that it should have been her standing beside him, making those promises, sealing their love before the entire village.
She forced herself to smile as the Third Hokage's voice rang out again. "And do you, Minato Namikaze, take Akane Uchiha as your lawfully wedded wife?"
"I do," Minato replied, his voice filled with pride and love.
"And do you, Akane Uchiha, take Minato Namikaze as your lawfully wedded husband?"
"I do," Akane whispered, her voice soft yet firm.
"Then, by the power vested in me as Hokage, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride."
Minato leaned forward, his hand gently cupping Akane's cheek as he brought his lips to hers in a tender, loving kiss. The hall erupted into applause and cheers, guests clapping and shouting their congratulations.
But not everyone was celebrating.
Kushina's applause was half-hearted, her eyes never leaving the couple as they shared that intimate moment. Beside her, Akimitsu Senju stood rigidly, his face an expressionless mask. But inside, a storm raged.
How many times had he stood by, watching as Minato took everything he had wanted? Minato, the Hokage. Minato, the hero of the war. Minato, the one who had stolen the love of his life and, now, even the heart of a woman as revered as Akane Uchiha.
Minato had taken the position of Hokage—a role that should have been his by right of birth. He had outshone Akimitsu on the battlefield time and time again, his name whispered with awe and respect while Akimitsu was relegated to the shadows. And now, Minato stood here, basking in the glory of his perfect life, with his perfect wife.
The applause continued to thunder around them, but Akimitsu could barely hear it over the roar of his own thoughts. He forced himself to join in, his hands clapping mechanically, each movement a mockery of the joy that should have accompanied the gesture.
Kushina, noticing his rigid demeanor, glanced up at him, her own feelings of jealousy momentarily overshadowed by concern. She reached out and squeezed his hand, her gaze searching his face.
"You okay?" she whispered, her voice barely audible over the noise.
Akimitsu blinked, his expression softening as he turned to look at her. He forced a smile, though it felt brittle and empty. "Yeah… yeah, I'm fine."
"Are you sure?" Kushina pressed, her brow furrowing slightly. "We can leave if—"
"No." Akimitsu cut her off, shaking his head. "We should stay. For them."
Kushina hesitated, but then she nodded, her grip on his hand tightening. They turned their attention back to the newlyweds, who were now making their way down the aisle, hand in hand, smiles bright and radiant.
Fugaku Uchiha watched from a distance, his eyes narrowing as he took in the sight. He hadn't attended the ceremony—no loyal Uchiha had. But he couldn't ignore the implications of this union, the way Minato's non-Uchiha blood would forever taint their lineage. It was a disgrace, a stain that would linger for generations to come.
And yet, despite his anger and disappointment, there was a part of him that respected Minato. The man was a powerful shinobi, a worthy adversary. If only he had chosen differently—if only he had married someone like Kushina Uzumaki, or another suitable candidate—things might have been different.
But now, all Fugaku could see was the destruction of the Uchiha purity, the beginning of a lineage that would no longer be solely Uchiha. He turned away, his heart heavy with resentment, and disappeared into the shadows, waiting for the celebration to end.
The hall continued to echo with cheers and laughter, but for those harboring jealousy and resentment, each sound felt like a dagger to the heart—a reminder of what could have been, and what would never be.
Fugaku clenched his fists, his jaw tightening as he forced himself to turn away from the spectacle. The sight of them, so carefree and in love, made his stomach churn. He took a deep breath, trying to quell the storm of emotions roiling within him.
But before he could retreat any further into the darkness, a presence made itself known beside him—a figure stepping out of the shadows with an ease that only a true shinobi could muster.
"Beautiful ceremony, isn't it?" came the smooth, almost mocking voice.
Fugaku stiffened, his senses sharpening as he turned to face the intruder. Standing beside him was a man draped in a dark cloak, the hood obscuring much of his face. But Fugaku knew who it was even before the man lowered the hood to reveal striking blue mask with the face of a devil.
"Izuna," Fugaku greeted curtly, the name tasting bitter on his tongue. It wasn't the true name of the man before him—of that, he was certain. But it was the name this imposter had chosen, a name that mocked the proud Uchiha heritage.
The man who called himself Izuna Uchiha smiled, his lips curling into a smirk that was both amused and condescending. "Ah, Fugaku. Always so tense. You should relax more. After all, today's a joyous occasion, is it not?"
"Joyous?" Fugaku scoffed, his eyes narrowing. "You know as well as I do that this marriage is a disgrace. Akane has betrayed the clan."
Izuna's smile widened, his gaze drifting back to the newlyweds. "Oh, Fugaku… you see everything in such black and white terms. Betrayal, loyalty, honor… those things are so… archaic."
Fugaku's fingers twitched, but he kept his composure. He couldn't afford to lose control in front of this man—not when there was so much he didn't know. "Why are you here, Izuna? What do you want?"
Izuna's gaze shifted back to Fugaku, his expression turning almost… pitying. "What do I want? Hmm, a difficult question." He tilted his head thoughtfully. "But perhaps it's more relevant to ask what *you* want, Fugaku."
Fugaku stiffened, his eyes narrowing. "What are you playing at?"
"Nothing at all," Izuna said lightly, shrugging one shoulder. "I'm merely observing. After all, this is a canon event in the timeline. It's meant to happen."
"Meant to happen?" Fugaku repeated, his brow furrowing. This wasn't the first time Izuna had used such strange terminology, but it still grated on his nerves. "What are you talking about?"
Izuna's smile took on a mysterious edge. "It means that, no matter what anyone does, this event—Minato and Akane's marriage—was always going to happen. It's a fixed point in time, if you will."
Fugaku's gaze darkened, suspicion coiling in his chest like a snake ready to strike. He had pieced together bits of information about this man over the years, drawing conclusions from careful observations and half-revealed truths. He knew that "Izuna" was not truly from this time—that he was a being from the future, though when exactly he had come from remained a mystery.
And he knew that this so-called "Izuna" was not a full-blooded Uchiha. The man's blue eyes were a dead giveaway—proof of his diluted bloodline. Fugaku despised it, but he had kept this knowledge to himself, waiting for the right moment to confront the imposter.
But now, standing here in the midst of the wedding he had dreaded, he found himself unwillingly curious. What did this man—this half-breed from the future—want with the Uchiha clan?
"What do you gain from telling me this?" Fugaku demanded, his voice low and cold. "What's your angle?"
Izuna chuckled softly, the sound sending a chill down Fugaku's spine. "My angle?" He shook his head, as if amused by the question. "I'm not here to interfere, Fugaku. I'm merely here to ensure that things progress as they should."
"And what, exactly, should I expect?" Fugaku pressed, his gaze hard and unrelenting.
Izuna's expression shifted, becoming more serious. "Expect… a change. This marriage, while fixed, is only the beginning. There will be an event in less than a year that will alter everything. It will be the catalyst that separates them—Minato and Akane."
Fugaku's breath hitched, surprise flaring in his chest. "What do you mean?"
Izuna's smile returned, a sharp, knowing curve of his lips. "Let's just say… fate has a way of correcting itself. What's meant to be will be."
Fugaku stared at him, a mixture of hope and skepticism warring within him. Could it be true? Could there really be an event that would end this farce of a marriage? That would separate Akane from Minato, restoring the honor of the Uchiha clan?
He didn't know whether to believe this man or not. But the prospect, the mere possibility of it, was enough to make his heart pound with a dangerous excitement.
"Are you certain?" Fugaku asked quietly, his voice tight with restrained anticipation.
"Certain?" Izuna echoed, his gaze turning distant. "Yes, I'm certain. After all, I've already seen it happen."
Fugaku's mind raced, the implications of Izuna's words swirling in a chaotic storm. If this man truly was from the future, if he had already witnessed the events that would unfold…
"Mark my words, Fugaku," Izuna murmured, his gaze locking onto Fugaku's with an intensity that sent a shiver down the older man's spine. "In less than a year, this perfect little union of theirs will begin to crumble. All you need to do is wait."
And with that, Izuna turned and began to walk away, his form blending seamlessly into the shadows. Fugaku watched him go, his mind buzzing with questions and doubts.
But despite his uncertainty, a flicker of hope ignited in his chest.
Perhaps, just perhaps, this man was telling the truth.
Perhaps Akane would be free of Minato after all.
This chapter, while short, gets to the point and would you look who appeared, "Izuna" or the Blue Devil shinobi. If you dont know who Izuna is, it's because you havent read my post credit scenes in The Uchiha Resentment. His identity is pretty is to uncover. Anyways the story will be wrapping up shortly as we are getting closer to the start of The Uchiha Resentment.
