"So that door you went through was a portal to the future. Thirty years to be exact?"
"Nya."
"And Komasan became more of a dog than he already was?"
Jibanyan nodded, leaving Komajiro puzzled. "And I was just… gone?" Komajiro asked. "Well, not gone… more like… we never saw you and barely anyone in the future knows who you are." Whisper explained. "Doesn't matter to me, you're as cute as a plushy!" Summer said, holding Komajiro close to her chest. "Thank you kindly, but you kinda see through." Komajiro noted, to which Nate tapped his foot on the ground. "Yeah, and that's a big problem." The boy growled, to which the teenager just waved. "We have plenty of time, right Tate?" Summer asked. "I feel my inside's disappearing." Tate was leaning against the building for support. "See, he's fine. Now let me continue cuddling with these adorable creatures." Summer said, ignoring the severe pain her brother was going through. "Oh my swirls!" the Koma brothers said, their eyes were black swirls as they tried to get out of the grasp of Summer. "Are we really going to do this all day so you disappear and no longer exist anymore?" Nate asked, still tapping his foot on the ground. "Can we take them with at least, please?" Summer said, jutting out her lower lip and giving puppy dog eyes. A drop of sweat rolled down Nate's head as he sighed and nodded. "YAY!" Summer cheered, getting off the ground and turning to her brother. "Come on! Let's go find our mom." she said, picking up Komasan and marching off. "I hate her sometimes." Tate said, struggling to walk a little bit, but he managed. Now with two extra additions, the group walked right into the sidewalk before stopping. "So… does anyone actually know where to look for this girl?" Whisper asked.
"No."
Everyone collectively said, making Whisper have a drop of sweat roll down his head. "Well, our grandma said something about a bug hunt, and where do you usually have bug hunts dad?" Summer asked. "I would appreciate it if you still called me Nate and not call Katie's mom grandma… that makes me feel really old than I already do with you guys being here." Nate said, before getting to the question at hand. "Well, we usually go up to the mountains to look for bugs, maybe she's up there?" Nate asked, putting a finger on his chin. "Nate, are you talking to yourself again?" Nate jumped again as he turned to his other friend, Alex. The girl fidgeted her baseball cap with a sly look on her face. "I-uh-well" Nate stuttered, before Alex chuckled. "Don't worry, it's not anything new, I've seen you have conversations with the air before." the girl said, putting the kickstand down on her bike. "You… you have?" Nate asked, standing up straighter than he usually did. "Yeah, you had a parent-teacher conference about it, remember?" Alex asked, chuckling again. "Right, right yeah." Nate said, coughing into his fist. "Anyway, you were looking for someone? Is it your friend Hailey?" Alex asked. "No, no, I'm looking for Katie. I'm supposed to meet her for a bug hunt." Nate said, letting out another cough into his fist and refusing to make eye contact with his friend. "I thought you two went up to Mount Wildwood, Katie was planning it all week." Alex said. Nate's eyes widened. Her mother said it, Sarah said it, and now Alex said it. How could he forget that? "Thanks Alex, I'll see ya later." Nate said, jogging off. Alex waved goodbye to her friend. "He's kinda a weirdo." she said, before shrugging and putting up her kickstand and riding her bike to triangle park.
"This place is like a time capsule, I honestly hope we can stay here forever."
Somewhere else in Springdale:
"Does the future have flying cars?"
"Why do people always ask that?!"
Hailey flinched as Bruno screamed at her. "Well… it's the future isn't it? Most of the movies and comics I've read depict it having flying cars." Hailey said, adjusting the glasses on her head. "How many times I gotta keep telling you this isn't one of your sci-fi stories?" Usapyon asked, looking at his partner with a drop of sweat rolling down his head. The two cat Yo-kai were ahead, talking about things. "He's kinda like you… but western." The Future Whisper said, to which Tomnyan simply said "Meow." in response. "What kind of cat Yo-kai says meow? What does that even mean, nyan?" The Future Jibanyan asked, looking at him with one eye wider than the other. "I told your past self this as well, nyan is a pretty weird way to say meow dude." Tomnyan said, letting out a whistle as he continued walking with the fellow Yo-kai. "He's an… interesting fellow. Strange that we don't remember him or see him anywhere in the future." The Future Whisper said, to which the Future Jibanyan nodded. "So, do you have any idea what Katie looks like?" Isabelle asked, to which the purple haired girl nodded. "Brown hair tied in a ponytail, super nice. Likes hanging out with her friends, wears a white jacket." Hailey went on to describe more and more of Katie while the others watched. "It's nice that you can list off the details of Katie, but when we ourselves have a case, you're off playing video games or are down in the dumps that it's not an alien." Usapyon said, another drop of sweat rolling down his head. "Case… like, a detective case?" Bruno asked. "Yep, Hapyon Detectives!" Usapyon and Hailey both said and struck poses like they were in a superhero movie. "Hey! We're a detective agency too!" Bruno said, to which Hailey put her hands on her cheeks and gasped. "Usapyon… our legacy… it carries on." Hailey said, sniffling. She removed her glasses and wiped a few tears from her eyes.
"Uh… we didn't know you existed."
"Doesn't matter."
Cole, Bruno, and Isabelle had drops of sweat rolling down her head, along with Hailey's Yo-kai partner, who was rubbing the sides of his helmet in shame. "Please excuse her, she's… I don't even know what she is." Usapyon asked, still rubbing his helmet. "They are continuing to help the Yo-kai of the future Usapyon. We should be so proud." Hailey grabbed a tissue seemingly out of nowhere and blew her nose. "Oh, we don't help Yo-kai, rather, we investigate cases of a Yo-kai haunting our town." Bruno explained. "Hm?" Usapyon said, while Hailey hummed with a smile on her face. "They get really dangerous too, Cole here almost died one time." Bruno said, Cole grimaced. Furrowing his eyebrows, he said "I'd rather not talk about that." To which Bruno scratched the back of his head while Isabelle giggled. "Recently we went to the beach and helped a little squid find peace." Isabelle said. "Yeah yeah whatever, tell me more about the death defying stuff!" Hailey said, stars behind her glasses. Bruno went on to talk about a mountain, the great oni king, and other things while Isabelle just smiled. The past was nice, she didn't want to call it old timey, because to Hailey and the others, this was their home. But that is what it was to Isabelle, old timey. Everything was a lot simpler, the cars weren't like the sleek cars of her time period, the houses looked straight out of the history books at her school. It was nice being here, maybe if that door stayed, she could come here for history reports and learn about all the things that happened in 2015.
Isabelle glanced over at the Yo-kai, the Yo-kai of the past and the Yo-kai of her time period seemed to get along just fine. Although, Nate was right, it is weird why Whisper or Jibanyan didn't remember the small space like Yo-kai and the other cat Yo-kai. It was… weird, to say the least. Whisper and Jibanyan have no recollection of being here. She could hear them mumbling amongst themselves, talking about possible memories of the roads here, going to the stores, walking alongside crosswalks. They would mumble to each other about being here, but not remembering much else about it. She thought it was weird, maybe whoever those guys were that the Yo-kai fought must have messed with their memories or something similar to that. It was the only explanation Isabelle had. But, that shouldn't be on her thoughts right now, right now it should be finding Summer and Tate's younger mother in the past… kind of a mouthful but it was the truth. It didn't take long for the group to reach a suburban neighborhood away from the city. As much as the glass buildings and tall skyscrapers were cool, they would probably have better luck with all the houses that were around. The houses, like most things in the past, weren't anything special. It felt like Isabelle was walking through history like she was before. It all came to a stop though when they heard some sort of toy going off. A robotic voice was saying "That's not it" over and over again.
"Uh oh." Hailey said, it didn't take long for Bruno to see why. Walking towards them was a man with a pink shirt and white pants. His skin was white and he looked like he was having fun, eyes closed and a wide smile across his face. It looked like he could be sweating syrup or something else more sugary if that made sense. He was a very jolly fellow, having a big gut. On his wrist was a white watch with a big bubble on it. There was a blue light ejecting from the watch and a robotic voice as the man was inserting what looked to be a purple poker chip into the watch. "That's not it!" the robotic voice said over and over again. "Uh…" the humans of the future said, looking at that guy. Tomnyan jumped up and down. "JERRY! JERRY!" the yellow cat said, swinging his arms up and down so fast that they were making a high pitched noise. The man noticed and ran up to the cat, the two giving each other a high five. "He can… see the cat?" Cole asked Hailey. "Nate has talked about this guy a few times… all bad things really." Hailey chuckled. "Wait, if he sees it, that means he has the Yo-"
"The That's Not It Watch!"
Bruno blinked at the man's response. "The what?" he asked, almost concerned. "The That's Not It Watch! Take a look!" the man said, holding up a pink medal with Tomnyan on it. It resembled a poker chip, with Tomnyan holding up a playing card while what looked to be chess pieces were in the background. Jerry flipped the medal into the air and inserted it… upside down. "That's not it!" the robotic voice said, Bruno stood there stunned to gasp. His whole being turned white as he felt his soul leave his body. The only sound he heard was a lightning strike go off in his brain as he realized what was happening. The man cheered and did it a few more times with different medals, striking poses, most of them being the letters "B" and "Q". "Yeah… he's a handful you can say." Usapyon said. "He really likes it when the Yo-kai Watch does that." Tomnyan said, walking back to the group. "I will say this in a way that I think is nice…. DOES HE KNOW HE'S USING IT WRONG?!" Bruno screamed, Tomnyan had a drop of sweat roll down his head. "You know, I weirdly remember someone like him." The Future Whisper said, floating around Jerry. "Yeah… me too… for all the wrong reasons." The Future Jibanyan took a stance, a firm fighting stance. The light from Jerry's watch hovered over the Yo-kai of the future and Jerry took notice. He gasped and looked at the two for a little bit. The Future Yo-kai were ready to fight, well, Jibanyan was at least. Whisper was busy observing the man rather. "Haven't I seen you two before?" he asked. The two Yo-kai fell flat on their faces.
"Hey Jerry, have you seen a girl by the name of Katie around here?"
Jerry put a finger to his chin. "Is that packing tape on the button of the watch?" Bruno asked, his eye twitched as Isabelle tried to calm him down. "Can't say I have, why?" Jerry asked. "We're looking for her, she has a ponytail and a white jacket with a heart on it." Tomnyan said. "Just keep an eye out for us." Bruno said, quickly pushing the yellow cat along. Jerry waved goodbye and went back to being his jolly self, much to the dismay of Bruno. "So, how did someone like that end up with a watch anyway?" Cole asked, to which the yellow cat proudly said "I gave it to him." The people of the future just looked at him. "That might explain why he's so… that." the Future Jibanyan said with a face of disgust. "Yeah… I didn't exactly know how the watch worked when I gave it to him. When I came back as a Yo-kai, they just kinda gave it to me in case of emergencies… I think." Tomnyan said, holding a paw to his chin. "So, when Jerry hears the 'That's not it', he thinks that's all the watch does. We've tried to explain that it does other stuff but it just doesn't work." Tomnyan said, putting his paws behind his head as he shrugged. "You need to try harder." Bruno muttered under his breath while Isabelle smiled. "I'm just glad he's having a lot of fun." Isabelle said. "For you yeah, but then you get to us Yo-kai and…" Usapyon trailed off, drumming his fingers on a nearby trash can. "He can be a real friendly guy, let's say that, meow." Tomnyan said, the two didn't elaborate any further. The people of the future simply shrugged it off and continued on their walk. It didn't take long before Bruno stopped in his tracks. They gave a Yo-kai… a yo-kai watch?
That was something he hadn't heard of.
Of course, Whisper had the Yo-kai Watch Arcane, but Whisper was a special Yo-kai that had connections with Lord Enma and Zazel, Tomnyan was just some cat. The past was… a different time, both metaphorically and literally.
Mt. Wildwood:
"So… many… stairs."
"You should stop complaining."
"YOU CAN FLOAT!"
A tired Summer glared lightning bolts at the Past version of Whisper, who simply looked at her with an unamused look. "We're almost at the top right now, after that, we just got to make our way uphill before-"
"Good job Katie!"
Nate stopped talking as soon as he heard a voice similar to his own. He jogged up the next few stairs and saw… him. He blinked, did they go too far back in time? Was he going to interact with his past self? "I think… we went too far back." Summer said, to which Tate let out a whine of pain. "Hey did you hear something?" Katie stopped swinging her net and looked around. Nate instantly ducked, along with the others. "SHUSH!" Summer said, covering Tate's mouth. "Hard to do that when I am in constant pain." Tate said, removing his sister's hand. Summer looked up to find the younger version of her mom. She looked straight out of the photo that was on the shelf back at her house. The hair was tied in the back, being held up by a pink bow. She wore a white jacket with a pink heart on it. White skin and brown eyes, and blue jean shorts. She looked around while Summer just stared at her. She couldn't believe it, both her younger father and her younger mother together. They never did talk much about the times when they were younger, but neither Summer nor Tate asked about what they did when they were younger. Seeing this was… a bit surreal, but then again, time travel was a bit surreal. "Nice purple aura." Jibanyan said, Summer looked at the cat with a confused look. She looked down at herself and realized that she was glowing purple. "I think it's starting to take affect." Whisper said, looking through his Yo-kai pad. "You're starting to disappear!" Komajiro shouted, looking concerned. "Yes, I was about to say that." Whisper said, putting his Yo-kai Pad away. "Oh man, what do we do? If I go up to her now. I could risk interacting with my past sel-"
"Hey, isn't that Robonyan?"
Nate peaked up and squinted, floating next to the fake Nate was the blue and white robotic cat. "Robonyan?" Summer looked up to find a robotic version of Jibanyan. The cat turned its head, let its mouth drop and rushed over. "How many versions of Jibanyan are there?" Summer asked Whisper, who pulled out his Yo-kai pad. He scrolled as fast as he could. "You sure know how to scroll Whisper." Komasan said, pointing to the tablet. "I AM NOT SCROLLING! I'm…" Whisper tucked the Yo-kai pad behind him. "Just looking to see what I can buy from Yo-zon." Whisper said. "Nathan… it really is you." Robonyan F said. "Were you… covering for me?" Nate asked, to which Robonyan nodded. "Mimikin has been doing well with his training, this was the true and ultimate test." Robonyan said, looking over. Katie had her back turned, causing Mimikin to morph back to his original form, a white mannequin with red shorts. "Go on, get over there!" Robonyan said, pushing Nate all the way over to Katie, who turned around. "Who's pushing?" she asked. "Oh uh…" Nate said, stopping to look at Katie. He felt his ears start to burn just looking at her. It didn't help that she was going to be his future wife. Nate stammered, stuck on the word "I". "When… did you get your watch back?" Katie asked, Nate looked down at the colorful watch on his wrist. "Oh… today?" Nate asked, sounding unsure himself. Katie frowned, maybe now was the time to press the question. "Hey… can I ask you something?" Katie asked, dropping the bug net. "Y-Yeah! What's up?" Nate asked, clearing his throat. He looked like he was going to turn into a tomato, at least his face was. Katie took a deep breath and exhaled. "Are you crazy?"
"What?"
Nate's face wasn't red anymore. "I've been… thinking. A lot about you. You always ran off from the group a lot, had gotten into too much trouble in class over things that any normal person wouldn't do. To top it all off, ever since that bug hunt that one summer, you randomly started talking with yourself. What's up with you?" Katie asked. "Uhm… well… you see…" Nate said, how was he going to lie his way out of this one. A similar situation happened during a parent teacher conference, but his mom embarrassed him so he got away with it. No one was around to help him, and he didn't have a good lie to get himself out of this, not that he didn't want to lie to his future wife anyway. "Well? Do you have an answer?" Katie pushed further, she got him into a corner and it looked like he was trying to think of a lie. Maybe if she kept pushing he could get the truth out of him. His watch. That was the key to all of this, the watch. "You said it was from your grandfather right? Come to think of it, some photos that I have on my phone have you having different variations of the watch." Katie pulled up her phone and went to the photos app. She pulled out a few photos of Nate's various different watches and showed them to him. "UHM…" Nate said, this time louder. He was looking to his left and right, avoiding eye contact with her. She was getting closer. "The funny thing about this is…"
"HE'S PART OF OUR FUTURE COMPANY!"
Katie almost jumped back as a girl that was taller than both of them came rushing up to them. Her hair was in braids and she was wearing a similar outfit to Katie herself, just without a jacket and a regular red and white shirt. "You… you are?" Katie asked, before she blinked. "Wait… who even are you?" Katie asked, pointing to the girl that just came in. "You can see her?!" Nate asked, sounding shocked. "Of course she can you silly!" the girl jabbed Nate in the ribs with her elbow. "I'm Summer, Summer Amano." Summer said, she sounded ecstatic about something. "And this…" she pulled a boy over, he almost looked similar to Nate… uncannily similar. "This is my brother, Tate Amano." Summer said, Tate seemed to be horrified about meeting her. Katie tried to reassure him with a friendly smile. "Nice to meet you both." she said, though that didn't reassure the boy that she was friendly, it just made him more horrified. "It was. We should catch up over coffee."
"I don't drink Coffee."
"Tea, whatever. Come on you two!."
The girl with braids dragged Nate and Tate… eerily similar names too. But whatever, before Katie could say anything, the three were gone. Two… newcomers were in the game now, but one thing was for certain.
They were still lying.
?:
"HEY BOSS! THEY'RE HERE, NYAN!"
Shutendoji and Voidera walked into a massive library, in front of them was… something. It looked to be stairs leading up to a throne. Surrounding them were massive shelves filled with tons of books, half of them from the Yo-kai World, half of them from the human world. "Yes, yes! Excellent work you three!" a voice said from the darkness, a pair of eyes loomed over them all. "Come in, come in please." The voice said, stepping down a long flight of stairs. "They said… you know about the princess, who she is?" Voidera questioned. "But of course, I know all of what has happened through time. It's a little gift I've had after being banished to this realm." The voice said, sounding much more clearer as he stepped down. "Of course, that knowledge of the princesses true identity won't be revealed unless we help you, hm?" Shutendoji asked. "Wise there Shutendoji. It's a very simple quest I have. Serve me, and together, we will destroy the human race, and only Yo-kai will walk the earth." The voice said, continuing to walk down. "And who might you be?" Shutendoji asked. "Oh, it's fair that you don't know me. I'm still banished in the future, but that will change… as for who I am." the voice said, stepping into the light.
"You can call me McKracken."
A/N: Finally, the chapter is done. This took a while thanks to my ADHD keeping me distracted with a ton of things. Not to mention all the things that happened in October that kept me away from this story. Super Mario Bros Wonder released and was amazing, Sonic Superstars released and it was pretty good. And of course, the big piece of it all, the Fnaf movie dropped. It was amazing, aside from a few pacing issues, but it was amazing. So amazing that I already have the outline document for my next story after this to be ready and the story to actually be written when the time comes. It will most likely be towards the 3/4ths part of this story. Speaking of which, we have finally reached the halfway point people. I imagine at least ten more chapters and then we will be complete, maybe a little less. But the point is, we are basically closing in on the story. I'm glad you are all enjoying it to the fullest and I hope you like the antagonist I chose. I don't see many people try to adapt him into the anime, so I thought I would be the one to do that. And what a better way to do it, than to give him the powers of time! Anyways, I will actually leave this off with a teaser to my next project that will be made. It is Fnaf related so I doubt most of you will be into it, but if you stick around with me for when it's being made I am sure you won't be disappointed. Because remember you can't escape him, he did everything for you.
You just didn't remember John.
