Hey Family! It's been a rough week with Hurricane Helene coming through but I managed to crank this out. Buckle Up for this one! Love Y'all and thanks for the reviews.

Tobias runs to Tris who is already out of her ropes as was Max when the council meeting room doors shut.

Harrison runs over to Will with Max close behind. They roll his body over. Max gently pulls and closes his eyelids, thankful he hadn't suffered long.

"Damnit" Max curses as he stands up. He couldn't dwell on Will's death now.

"We gotta move quick," Harrison tells him. "Plan's already in motion" He pulls out a radio from inside his vest pocket and tosses it to Max. "Factionless weren't smart enough to take these"

"How did you get untied, are you okay?" Tobias asks Tris as he looks her over while Harrison moves to untie the other leaders and Max goes for the civilian hostages.

"Shauna, she tried to help," Tris tells him as he hugs her.

"Shauna? What?" Tobaisl pulls back looking confused. "She wouldn't betray us"

"She and Lynn were with Eric when they drugged us in Dauntless….I think she was scared...Lynn, she was different, she turned on us, this is all my fault…"

"Don't borrow other people's issues, we have enough to worry about right now" Harrison tells her as he helps Johanna up.

"How much time do we have?" Max asks coming over after uniting two people and then instructing them to help the others.

Tobias looks down at this watch "15 minutes" He lowers his arm and looks over at Marcus for the first time. His right eye was swollen shut, and black and blue. There was a gash over his left eye, and his lip was busted. He'd taken a hell of a beating.

"Chavis, Progress report," Max says into his radio.

"Good to hear your voice Boss, Locked and loaded," Chavis says back. Max nods, things are about to move quickly.

"Command, be on stand-by to send emergency vehicles. If we go dark, keep pounding and follow the lockdown plan"

"You got it Eagle 1" Victoria chirps back.

"Listen, Tris is going to lead you to a hiding location," Max tells the group of scared people. "Jack, Johanna, you will go with them"

Johanna nods and moves to stand with the group still visibly shaken by everything that had transpired.

"And what of Jeanine and Marcus?" Jack asks.

Harrison walks over to Marcus. There was no way they would be able to move him and from the looks of his injuries, without a doctor, he probably wouldn't last long. "Marcus isn't going anywhere"

"We can't leave him" Johanna reasons with worry.

"He's not going to make it far, we need to move quickly. Someone will come back but our priority is your safety right now. This is the tough thing of war, we have to make tough decisions. Jeanine, you're going to put these on" Harrison states and pulls out a pair of handcuffs.

"So you plan to keep me tied up? I won't stand for this, what if I need to defend myself" Jeanine argues with a cough. She had awakened in time to see Eric slit Will's throat but still felt unsteady on her feet as she stood.

"You can't be serious right now" Tris snaps. "This is all your fault, You started this."

"Everyone calm down" Max asserts and motions for Harrison to put away the handcuffs.

Jeanine glares at her as she rubs her wrist from the rope burn. She never expected Evelyn and Eric to double-cross her.

"Don't think you are walking away from this, You're in handcuffs as soon as we get out of this building" Max threatens. "You take one step away from the group, I'll shoot you myself"

Jeanine swallows thickly but nods. She didn't have the upper hand here. There was no doubt that Evelyn would have her killed. She was only toying with her now. Following Max was her only shot at survival but for how long? Could she regain control of Erudite? Staying alive now was her best option.

Tobias moves across the room as he and Harrison start checking for an alternate exit.

"There should be a side door somewhere," Max tells them.

"Ten minutes," Tobias tells Max and Harrison looking down at this watch again.

"What's the countdown for?" Jack asks as he moves to Marcus who lets out an agonized groan when Jack moves his head after he unties him.

"What's going to get us out of here"

Natalie marks on a map where she, Victoria, and Marlene were set up in the training room at Dauntless as the command center. Hana and Marlene tried to convince her to stay with Elena who was helping run a nursery and daycare for all the children whose parents were deployed fighting but she couldn't sit still. She was too worried. She knew that she could also hide in the bunker in the apartment if something happened. She didn't think she would fully stop worrying until she knew Max, Tris, and Caleb were back in Dauntless.

She lets out a deep sigh of relief when she hears Max over the radio.

"Everyone is in position" Victoria observes and looks at her watch. "10 minutes"

Suddenly there was the sound of gunfire coming from the entrance of the training room.

"What the hell" Marlene gasps and reaches for her gun as a group of four Dauntless come in with guns drawn.

"Don't move" One of them tells her.

"You've got some nerve" Victoria snaps.

"Shut up and put your hands up" One woman shouts.

Marlene looks closely and she recognizes her as Lynn's mother. "Shelly..."

"It's not personal Marlene, but my girls have finally understood what I've been trying to get them to see. Erudite is going to help us set things back in order and get rid of the divergent" Shelly tells the group with a menacing look.

"You are coming with us," One of the men tells Natalie. "Evelyn would like a word with you"

"Lay a finger on me and you won't live another day" Natalie snaps.

She looks over at Victoria and then at Marlene. They needed to act quickly. Marlene nods and instantly kicks the man standing in front of her in the face, catching him off guard. Natalie quickly pulls the knife that she carried in her pocket and throws it, hitting Shelly square in the face. Victoria grabs her gun and fires taking the other two down instantly.

"Nice moves you two," Victoria tells Natalie and she takes a deep breath, putting her hand on her pregnant belly.

"Thanks. We're still Dauntless-Born," she says with a shrug.

"I think I'm more Dauntless than anything" Marlene replies wiping the sweat from her brow.

"Well, Max would kill me if I let anything happen to you, but clearly you can take care of yourself" Victoria smiles as she places her gun in her waistband.

She had been weary of Natalie at first but after spending more time with her the past few months she'd come to see that Natalie and Max had something special. Max was different with her, in a way he had never been with Stacey. She could see that Natalie was extremely loving but also fierce and loyal.

Natalie chuckles as Marlene runs to secure the door and calls for backup. She looks at her watch and quickly goes to the table. Victoria nods and Natalie pushes a detonator.

BOOM

Caleb crouches down low behind one of the vehicles. He looks up at the building where he knows Uriah is positioned. He looks down at his watch. It was almost time.

He looks over in the direction where Zeke went, darts off low with his weapon drawn, and slides back to the alleyway.

A minute later, Zeke slides in next to him.

"All good?"

"All good" Caleb replies.

"Time," Zeke says. He and Caleb pull out the small detonators. They nod at each other and push the buttons at the same time.

BOOM

The buildings around them shook and debris flew through the air. Yells are coming from the factionless.

Caleb looks over at Zeke and smiles.

"Let's Go," Zeke tells him with a grin as they look around, to make sure the coast is clear.

Harrison and Tobias do a quick sweep outside of the room. As predicted the Factionless were confused as they were trying to figure out what was happening with the bombs Dauntless set off as a diversion.

Tobias takes out a guard quickly and takes his weapons. It doesn't take long for a few more to come running down the hall and he and Harrison take them out as well.

"We have an opening this way, Let's move," Harrison tells Max as he tosses him a gun.

"Take this and be careful," Tobias tells Tris pressing a gun in her hand he picks it up from one of the downed guards. "Get across the way and hide. I'll be back for you as soon as I can"

She nods. "I love you" He smiles, "I love you too" Tobias takes off with Harrison and Max. He doesn't even bother to look over at Marcus as he exits the room.

"Get behind me," Tris instructs as the group presses close behind her. They head out, there's gunfire and she crouches down.

"First five follow me, the rest of you don't move"

They go quickly staying low to an alley. Tris looks up and down and sees an open doorway.

"Hey! " A voice yells and raises a gun.

Tris quickly assesses that he's one of the factionless soldiers and fires before he can and a woman screams as the man falls dead.

"In here, I'll be back with the others"

Tris makes two more trips. Jack and Johanna are safe. She has three more people to move. She makes it halfway back, she ducks behind one of the vehicles as she hears voices. She waits for them to pass but as she pops up to go back into the Hub, Eric stands in front of her with a sick smile on his face.

"Eric just radioed that some Dauntless leaders have approached the Hub..." Mason tells Lynn and the group that was out scouting.

"If the leaders are here, I guarantee there are more in the shadows... We need to keep our eyes open" Lynn reasons.

"Let's head back to the Hub, Evelyn can't be happy with this"

Within 10 minutes, the group can see the Hub come into view.

BOOM

Lynn takes off running toward the hub when she hears the explosion. There are yells and dust everywhere. Shauna was in the Hub and she panicked.

"What happened?" She asks one of the Factionless as she gets toward the door.

"Dauntless" Is all he says.

"Shauna" Lynn yells as she covers her face with her elbow. "Shauna? Are you here?"

BOOM

There's another explosion goes off in the distance and Lynn can hear more shouting and gunfire. Dauntless was fighting back hard. This had gone terribly wrong. While they had the numbers, the factionless soldiers weren't trained as well as the Dauntless and they weren't truly united with those who had betrayed Dauntless or the Erudite who chose to fight. It was clear already that Dauntless was corralling them into one section.

She looks down at her feet and sees what looks like a trail of blood. She follows it to the stairway and there she finds her sister in the corner propped up against the wall pale and bloodied, holding her stomach on get up we gotta get you out of here." Lynn says in a panic as she rushes to her side.

"Lynn, I can't…Eric stabbed me…" Shauna wheezes. She could barely keep her eyes open now. She knew she didn't have long.

"No, No, No… Why.." Lynn fights back tears as she moves Shauna's hand away to inspect her wound.

"Help! I need someone to help me" Lynn cries out as loud as she can. She can feel her pulse quicken. This didn't look good.

"I tried to help Tris, she and her baby… it's not right... all of this it's not..."... She tried to finish but her eyes were closing. She felt so cold.

"Shhhh, Don't try to talk anymore. I'm going to get you out of here" Lynn grabs Shauna's hand and squeezes it.

"It's too late Lynn" Shauna tells her sister gasping for breath.

"Help! Somebody help me." Lynn screams as tears fall down her face.

"I' 'm sorry, I love you. Take care of Hector" With that Shauna takes her last breath, her hand going limp as Lynn continues to hold on to her. Lynn lets out a sob but quickly pulls her free hand over her mouth.

"I heard someone call for help this way…" A voice says outside of the stairwell.

"Lynn?" She looks up when she hears her name and sees two Dauntless moving toward her.

"My God, Shauna" Zeke gasps and he falls to his knees next to her body.

"This is all my fault she's dead," Lynn wails shaking her head but still holding Shauna's hand and tears falling from her eyes. She was numb.

"What happened, what are you doing here?" Zeke asks wiping tears from his eyes and still in shock.

"Stay away from me," Lynn says suddenly grabbing her gun. She takes off before Zeke can go after her.

"You knew her?" Caleb asks squatting down next to Zeke who checked Shauna's pulse.

"Shauna, She was my best friend since we were kids..."

Zeke lets out a grief-stricken yell. He gets up, kicks the wall, and then holds on to the banister, letting out another yell entangled with a sob. He pulls on the banister, gripping it so hard, that his hands hurt and his knuckles turn white.

"I'm sorry," Caleb tells his cousin softly placing a hand on Zeke's shoulder.

There's a sound of gunfire outside the Hub. Caleb and Zeke were trying to disable as many super soldiers as they could. They had been successful so far but they needed to set off more of the antidote if they were going to turn the tide of this battle for Dauntless.

"We gotta keep moving to meet up with the others," Caleb says trying to get Zeke to focus.

Zeke takes a deep breath and wipes his tears. Caleb was right. He leans down and kisses Shauna's cheek.

"I'm sorry Shauna, I'm so sorry" He whispers as he takes one last look at her lifeless body before they continue on their mission.

Tris stares at Eric, her heart beating fast. She looks back and is about to take off running when he grabs her by her hair and snatches her back.

"Not so fast" Eric sneers.

"Let me go, you bastard" Tris screams as she tries to get away.

She's tossed around and Eric pulls back and backhands her across the face so hard she falls to the ground.

"Evelyn wants you, she thinks you and your mother are the key to keeping Max and Dauntless in line but I think I might keep you around for my enjoyment"

Tris gives Eric a swift kick between his legs and swipes her hand across his face leaving three deep scratch marks.

"Bitch" he growls and punches her. The force of the blow causes her to fall back to the ground. He delivers a kick to her abdomen and Tris frantically tries to cover her stomach.

"Please, no" she screams and coughs as the wind is knocked out of her.

"Eric, what the fuck are you doing" Lynn yells as she pushes Eric away from Tris. Everything was in chaos. Dauntless was taking down the super soldiers, and some Factionless soldiers were fleeing. She couldn't focus, after she ran away from Zeke, sitting on the side of the building trying to block out all the noise. She looked up and saw Eric grabbing Tris. Something stirred inside her. She'd closed her eyes and all she could hear were her sister's dying words. Eric moves to go around her and Lynn gives him a hard punch to the face causing him to step back.

"Isn't this what you wanted Lynn?" This bitch on the ground, begging" Eric says as he spits blood onto the ground.

"My baby" Tris sobs, gasping for breath as she clutches her stomach and moves to scoot away.

Lynn looks at Tris, she is near tears. Her sister was dead and it was her fault. Shauna got roped into this because of her. Eric killed Shauna for trying to help Tris, for trying to do what was right. Lynn thinks about Shauna's words….Tris' baby was innocent. She didn't want to see Tris like this, Eric would kill her, she was sure of that.

Before Lynn can move a shot rings out. Eric stood behind her, his gun drawn. The shot pierces Lynn in the back. She drops to her knees in front of Tris.

"Lynn…" Tris says her eyes wide.

"I'm sorry" Lynn whispers as she looks at Tris. She topples over. Everything was happening so fast, that before she could process what was happening, as Eric turned back toward her, she heard a familiar voice.

"Tris" Tobias yells as he and Max run toward them. Eric moves to the side of a building and fires a few shots which Tobias dodges. Eric tried to fire again but his gun was jammed. He throws it to the ground just as Tobias grabs him by the collar. The two immediately begin throwing punches

"Come on, We gotta move," Max tells his daughter. He tried to put the bad thoughts out of his mind as he looked at her. Her face was red, a bruise forming across her cheek, blood was coming out of her nose and her lip was busted. She clutched her stomach.

Max and Tris don't notice that Evelyn is watching as she stops running trying to get to the Hub. She'd lost contact with half of her commanders but she knew Eric would be headed this way. She stands looking at the chaos around her, everything is falling apart. Another bomb goes off and smoke fills the air and more of her super-soldiers injected with the serum drop to the ground as they inhale the smoke. A rage fills her as she feels her gun in her hand.

Max looks up and sees Evelyn staring at his daughter.

Evelyn looks at Max and his daughter and raises her gun. Max had bested her in this battle. How could Natalie have her perfect family, she still had nothing. She raises her arm and fires twice.

"Tris get down" He yells and he jumps and pushes her down to the ground.

The first shot catches Max in the shoulder, the second in his side and he lands roughly grunting at the pain.

Tris looks up as Evelyn goes to aim again but before she can react or move another shot rings out from a high-powered rifle and hits Evelyn, going straight through her chest. She crumples down falling over dead.

"Daddy" Tris yells regaining her composure. She scoots over to him and looks up knowing the shot had to come from Uriah.

She was frantic, Tobias and Eric were still going at it. Eric was currently on top of Tobias trying to slit his throat with a knife.

Tobias grunts as Eric has his knife pressed close to his neck. He focused hard, knowing Eric was struggling. He can feel the blade on his neck as it touches his skin cutting him. He thinks about Tris and he squeezes Eric's wrist as hard as he can. Eric starts to shake and Tobias uses that to get the upper hand. He pushes and Eric falls back and the knife falls which Tobias grabs. When Eric lunges for him again. Tobias swiftly jabs the knife in Eric's chest directly into his heart.

Even though he was dying, the look of rage he had at Tobias was there. When Tobias lets go of the knife, Eric falls over and Tobias stands up panting. He wipes his mouth, his lip bloodied from his fight. He trunks back to Tris who was sobbing on the ground as she tried to stop the bleeding from Max's gunshot wound.

"He got shot twice" Tris rambles trying to press on the wound to Max's abdomen.

"We got this. Come on Max, Stay with us" Tobias grunts as he applies pressure to the shoulder wound with one hand and grabs his radio with the other.

"Command, Come in, I need a vehicle one block from the entrance to the Hub now" He yells.

"One coming your way" Victoria calls out over the radio. "Five minutes"

He looks up and sees Uriah running toward them as soon as the vehicle arrives.

"Help me get him into the car." He instructs Uriah.

"Fuck" Uriah says, he was glad he spotted Evelyn when he did. Tris might not be here if he didn't.

"I'm sorry man," Uriah tells him as Tobias crouches down to help pick up Max.

"You did what you had to do" Tobias reminds him. Uriah climbs into the back with Max to help steady him.

"Tobias…the baby," Tris says with a gasp as she looks down at her pants. She was bleeding.

"Hang on Tris," He tells her, trying to remain calm. He scoops her up and places her in the car on his lap holding on to her tight as she presses her face into his neck.

As the car speeds off, Tobias looks over and sees his mother's body in the street. He shakes his head to focus his thoughts on Tris and holds her close, not knowing what or how to feel now that his mother is dead.
