Chapter 8
"Thank you, Lightstar. I see convincing you wasn't as hard as convincing Stormstar anything. You will make a great leader for FrostClan." Duststar tipped his head.
"And thank you, Duststar. I speak with my warriors now." Lightstar led them out of the den, and headed to another den in the camp. Duststar and his warriors left the camp.
When they returned, it was around midnight. Luckily, there were no more encounters with any other FrostClan cats, including Mosswing. Silverheart was glad, and when she curled up in the nursery with her kits, she fell asleep.
…
"Silverheart! The battle! Remember?" Cloudkit was mewling.
"Oh, yes!" She yelped, and sat up violently. Willowkit, who was suckling early, went flying out of the nest, mewling in fear.
"Ma…" She said, using a paw to brush back her fur.
"Oh, I'm sorry, dear. I was just startled that I slept in."
"You didn't," a grumpy voice said from across the nursery. It was Thornfur. She had her back to Silverheart, and was settling her kits back to sleep. Luckily, Mistythorn, Whitefur and Echokit were still sleeping, and weren't taking part in the battle.
"Are you really going to go to the battle as a queen?" Thornfur sneered. That was when Whitefur stirred and lifted her head up.
"Stay out of it, Thornfur." She meowed. "She just wants to help her Clan."
"Ugh," Thornfur mumbled. "Stupid rogue," she hissed under her breath. It sent a shiver down Silverheart's spine that Thornfur would admit to herself she believed that the loner family were rogues.
"What?" Whitefur asked.
"Nothing." Thornfur meowed.
Silverheart sighed relief that Whitefur hadn't heard the horrible comment. "What time is it?"
"Just before dawn." Cloudkit explained. Silverheart was so proud of how smart Cloudkit had become. She was also extremely loving of her amusing daughter. Her kits had already become amazing cats.
"Good. Will you guys be okay?" Silverheart asked.
"Yes, ma." Willowkit meowed.
"Be good," she meowed, nuzzling each of her kits. She might not make it back to see them again after this battle. No, I can't think about that. I will make it out alive and live to see my kits grow up. She promised to herself. "I love you,"
"Love you Silverheart," both of them said.
"Bye, Silverheart." Whitefur whispered. "Good luck,"
When Silverheart entered the camp, she saw Duststar, Jayfang, Cedarleaf, and a few other cats talking. The other cats were coming out of the warrior den, and Shadeflower and Ravenfur were leaving the medicine den.
Duststar sprang onto the bramble rock. "AcornClan! All cats entering the battle, join here for a Clan meeting." He yowled.
All the cats took seats beneath the large rock. "We will take a role call for all the cats who are joining us in the battle against Addertail and his followers. When I say your name, please say 'here'. Ravenfur."
"Here."
"Cedarleaf."
"I'm here."
"Beechwhisper."
"Here,"
Duststar continued the roll call, the cats listed were Silverheart, Dawnblossom, Duskfoot, Shadeflower, Starlingflight, Mistsight, Thrushfeather, Oakstorm, Tulipflower, and Jayfang.
"I see we are all here. We shall leave and meet FrostClan at the border now." Duststar declared.
The Clan left the camp, and met Lightstar at the border. "Lightstar," Duststar meowed. "Good to see you here. True cats never break their promises."
"Good to see you too, Duststar. Where do we begin?"
…
Yowl! The cats of AcornClan and FrostClan burst into the warrior den where Addertail and his followers were sleeping. Addertail pressed against the warrior den when he was cornered by the other Clan cats. "What's happening? Am I dreaming!?"
"No! This is real! You have betrayed us!" Lightstar yowled.
"You brought dogs into our territories!" Shadeflower exclaimed.
"You killed my mother, Grayheart!" Silverheart yowled.
"The noble warrior Grayheart!" Duststar joined in.
"You don't deserve to be a warrior, not in these Clans!" The FrostClan deputy, Whitesong called.
"Nor your followers!" A FrostClan she cat, Blueflight screeched.
"You told them?" Addertail yowled.
"Of course he did. How else would I have found out?" Lightstar screamed.
"I will kill you! Kill you all!" Addertail vowed.
"You're crazy," Silverheart whispered.
Authors note:
So while writing this I could not resist making Addertail say "Crazy? I was crazy once. They locked my in a room. A rubber room. A rubber room with rats. Rats make me crazy!" So there you go
…
"I will kill you all!" He repeated. "Followers, attack them!" A burst of Fernsight, Windfur, and Mosswing pushed a few cats out of the den, the rest of the cats going to help them. That left Addertail and the rest space to get into a more open area to fight.
"Argggggh!" Silverheart gasped when she felt the sharp claws of Addertail peirce her shoulder. She spun around and slashed his ear, feeling no mercy.
Addertail crouched and held his tail down, pinning his ears back. Hissing, he leaped onto her back, his claws still unsheathed, pinning her down.
Silverheart turned upside down and battered his belly as hard as she could with her hind legs. Addertail yowled, and was bursted off, running to go and help Fernsight, who was pinned down by Dawnblossom and Beechwhisper.
Silverheart whipped around when she finally found something to do. Windfur and Mosswing had Whitesong, the new FrostClan deputy, down on the ground, Windfur holding her shoulders so she couldn't move, and Mosswing holding her hind legs down. Silverheart ran over and thrust Mosswing off of the white tom, doing the same with Windfur.
The duo hissed, and threw their claws back at Whitesong and Silverheart. Whitesong yowled and leaped into the air, landing on the two cats. "Disrespect! Disgraceful kittens!" Whitesong declared. "Attacking your own Clanmates and peers, as well as cats who have made peace with us."
Windfur scowled, "we're not kits!" before leaving to attack some other FrostClan cats.
Silverheart turned to see Windfur leap for a FrostClan she cat, Breezewillow's, back while hissing ferociously. Breezewillow turned and Windfur halted in horror.
"Windfur?" She shrieked.
Silverheart continued watching, wondering what was going on. Windfur's eyes flashed with guilt and panick, and he glanced away in shame.
"This isn't you, Windfur! Stop this!"
Windfur said nothing, and shrank in a submissive posture.
"What is he doing?" Silverheart whispered in shock. No FrostClan cat, especially the fiercest ones, had ever cowered before another cat. Not EVER.
"I thought I loved you. But I guess not." Breezewillow hissed.
It then had hit Silverheart. Breezewillow and Windfur were mates.
"Breeze, it's not—" Windfur started.
"DON'T call me that! We're done."
"Breezewillow, it's not me who's doing this. I was pressured by Addertail!"
"No, you can't blame that cursed cat. I'm expecting your kits, and you have disowned them. I deny you as my mate, and I will never share a den, fresh kill, and avoid any patrols with you. We are no longer together."
Silverheart saw Windfur lunge at Breezewillow. She quickly sprang at the tom, pulling him off of the FrostClan she cat.
"Silverheart?" Breezewillow whispered, panting.
Silverheart didn't reply. Instead, she unsheathed her claws, striking at the horrible black tom, drawing blood from his shoulder. He hissed, and ran off to find Addertail.
"Are you okay?" Silverheart asked Breezewillow frantically.
"Yeah, I will be. I didn't know Windfur was part of Addertail's followers. I hate him, I hate him, I hate him!" She declared.
Silverheart secretly admired the way that Breezewillow could admit hatred so easily. Whenever Silverheart disliked someone, she tried to hide it, knowing that wasn't a good thing. Well, maybe it wasn't.
"Followers! The battle is over! We're outnumbered!" Addertail yowled, snapping Silverheart out of her thoughts.
"Oh, no! This isn't over!" Silverheart said without thinking. She shoved through the frozen crowd and faced Addertail. Addertail eyed her suspiciously.
"What do you want." He growled. "We're leaving."
"Not yet. You killed my mother, Grayheart. Summoned the dogs to our territory, cost the lives of more cats, and even worse, brought grief and distress to warriors, and even kits. You're finished Addertail!" She leaped onto him, pinning him to the ground, making sure that she wasn't flung off, and bit down on his neck.
"He's dead!"
"Silverheart killed him!"
"He's gone!"
"Hooray!"
Windfur, Mosswing, and the other followers stood in horror. "He's…gone?"
"Is it true?" Mosswing said somberly, stalking up to Addertail.
"Yes, Addertail is gone." Silverheart meowed.
"What a relief! That stress is gone." Fernsight blurted out.
"Wait…weren't you a follower of Addertail?" Someone asked.
"Yeah, because he threatened to kill me if I didn't! Thank StarClan that horror show is done. Lightstar, can I be accepted back into FrostClan? I am really sorry, I just didn't want to lose my life."
"Of course, Fernsight. Addertail is manipulative and you have good intentions. I know you, Addertail didn't." Lightstar mewed graciously.
"What about the others?" A FrostClan cat asked.
"Please, please, please, please, please, Lightstar!" Mosswing begged.
Lightstar sighed. "Mosswing, you have made decisions no other cat, except for Addertail and Windfur, would do."
"Hey! I can change!" Windfur yowled.
"Alright. You two can get ONE MORE CHANCE, but only one. You must not disappoint me."
"Lightstar, they are murderous! Windfur almost killed half of us, including me!" Breezewillow called out.
"Mosswing disrespected our customs, and almost led this to being worse, by not letting Duststar talk to you!" Shadeflower yelled.
"I know, I know. If they act this way again, they will be banished, never to show their faces to us."
"Thank you, Lightstar."
…
Sorry this was a long chapter. I wasn't sure where to stop! Also, I put a poll out, so go and vote if you want :).
