Princess Vanessa

Chapter 1

Ursula's Plan

The sea witch sat in her dark lair. Tapping her finger in frustration as she tried to conger up a scheme to take over the kingdom and get revenge on Triton. She had tried everything, every plan from A to Y.

As she pondered she witnessed Ariel swimming as fast as she could in her crystal ball.

"That's it, swim back to daddy and his little celebration." She bitterly sneered. "That little brat doesn't know how heavenly she has it. A life of luxury, three banquets a day." She ranted as she picked up a helpless shrimp and ate it. "And not to mention a chance of becoming the next monarch. Why anyone would do anything to have her life."

At that moment, a truly wicked idea formed in her twisted mind. A Grinch-like smile slowly formed on her pudgy face as she knew what her plan Z would be.

"That's it!" She shouts before chuckling to herself, rubbing her hands together. "Why it's simply delicious."

She swam over to a shelf that contained serval books about the art of forbidden magic. She picked up the one in the centre and flipped through the pages until she found what she was looking for.

"It may take three days, but it will be worth it." She then called to her eels. "Flotsam, Jetsam."

"Yes, mistress." They said in unison.

The enormous woman showed them the spell and explained her awful plan. They chuckled, soon joined by their mistress.

"What are we waiting for?" Jetsam stated.

"The sooner she's with us the better," Flotsam added.

"Indeed. Quickly, before she gets back to the palace." She ordered. The eels swam off as fast as they possibly could.

Ariel swam as fast as she could. She had lost track of time and was late for dinner. She knew she was in for a harsh scolding from her father, especially as this was the third time this week. As she quicken her pace, she didn't notice her bag getting snagged on some coral. It was only when her shoulder didn't feel the strap or the weight of it did she realised what had happened. She frustratingly groaned and promptly turned around and tried to get it off the coral, which provided to be more difficult than she thought. After practically two minutes of pulling, she managed to free the bag of her newly found treasures from the Anthozoa and was just about to start heading off when Flotsam and Jetsam blocked her path.

"Good evening ms." moray eels greeted in their friendliest voices.

"Oh, um hello," Ariel said uneasily.

"What you got there?"

"Nothing."

"It looks to me like you got some human things."

"Look I really need to get home, so if you don't mind…"

"Look she has a dinglehopper," said Jetsam.

"How do you know what it's called?"

"Because our mistress is a specialist on humans." they fibbed together.

"Really?" she asked sceptically.

"Of course, why don't you follow us if you don't believe us."

The redhead pondered for a moment. She knew she was already tardily as it is, her father would be furious if she didn't attend the banquet, but at the same time, if the eels were telling the truth, then surely it would be worth being a little late.

"How far is it?"

"Why only half a minute away."

"I'll go for three minutes, then I have to go home?"

"Certainly. Follow us."

Ariel took a glimpse back for a brief second before following them. They made their way across the volcanic landscape where the remains of decease fishes were scattered.

"Here we are." the eels stated as they arrived at a sea monster-like lair. "This way."

Ariel gulped as she entire the monasteries home of the sea witch. As she turned the corner and swam down the hallway, she saw the garden of Polyp. She winced in disgust as she looked down on the poor unfortunate souls. Suddenly one of them wrapped its slimy body around her wrist, hoping to free itself. Ariel nearly screamed as she pulled herself free.

"Come in. Come in, my child."

Ariel turned to face where the voice had come from. Ursula swam out of her shell bell onto the floor. "We mustn't lurk in doorways - it's rude." She sat down at her vanity, putting lipstick on as she continued. "One might question your upbringing... Now, then. You're here because you have a thing for the human world.

"Your pets told me you were an expert on humans." the redhead nervously said, swimming closer.

"Well, I won't say expert. I know about one or two things, like how they live, how they use their creations for, you know those sorts of things."

"Do you think you can tell me about those things, please?"

Ursula smirked with a wicked look in her eye. "Why of course I can my dear." She swam over to the mermaid and scratched her chin. Ariel closed her eyes and looked away, not noticing that Ursula taking a small bit of her hair. "Now, before we begin, would like a drink?"

"Well um..."

"Splendid. Just wait here angelfish, and I'll get you something." Ursula swam out of the room. In her cauldron room, the fat lady deposited the stranged of hair into the vast cauldron, creating a small skull-shaped smoke cloud. As she let the brew settle, she took a bottle of the potion she had for the redhead, before returning to her guest.

"Here you go princess. Drink up now." Ursula stated as she handed her the liquid.

"Oh, um, thank you," Ariel said uneasily. She put her lips to the top of the bottle and a sip. At first, she found the taste a bit off, but then something in her brain told her to drink more. As she gulped it down all at once, Ursula watched with evil glee, rubbing her hands together.

"Now tell me everything you about humans, please." Ariel requested once she had finished her drink.

"Of course, come sit down at the table." Ursula pulled out a chair. Ariel sat down and got comfortable.

"Now then, what would you like to know first?"
