Ruby and Jaune are waiting for Sun to pick up a movie from a video store. A month has passed since they completed a mission to take down Dr. Merlot's plans of using his old lab to weaponized the Grimm.The three students are part of the Night Operatives — or Night Ops for short. A secret squad of students from huntsmen academies that not only hunts stronger Grimm, but also investigate criminal activies. Those of the teams selected are able to experience the battlefield. Teams RWBY, JNPR, and SSSN are one of the teams chosen for missions.

"I seriously can't wait for movie night! I wonder what kind are we gonna watch?!" Ruby squealed excitedly. Holding up her arms for the thrill of movie night.

Jaune was on his scroll ordering pizza since they will be up all night for this event. Since it's summer, they won't have a problem. "Hey, Ruby. Is there any pizza toppings you want?" Jaune asked.

"Hmm..." Ruby wrapped her fingers around her chin, trying to think of her favorite pizza. "I'd say, pineapple, with pepperoni." Ruby replied.

"Alright. Cool, Weiss and Sage also requested that too." Jaune replied before going back to his call to the pizza parlor. "Um, yeah, large pepperoni and pineapple toppings please."

"I got the movie!" Sun cheered as he holds up a DVD with the title: Mind Split. A horror movie about monsters created from the minds of people.

"Cool, what's this? Another horror flick? Awesome!" Ruby was used tonseeing horror movies watching with her older sister Yang. Or when she reads fairy tales that is also filled with horror.

"Seriously, Sun? Another one?" Jaune sighs, the last time he watched a horror flick, he fainted. Or another time, he cling onto Pyrrha's arm whenever a jumpscare scene starts.

"What's the matter, Jaune? Scared?" Sun teased with a grin on his face as he holds the DVD box with his tail. And waving it in frontnof his face. Which made Jaune scowled.

"We've been having horror flicks for weeks now! Can't we watch any action movies? Like Tri-Hard? Or Death by the Chill?" Jaune asked, hoping to be talk him out of playing the movie for when they get back to the dorms.

"Jaune, come on! I don't think it was scary. Yang lets me watch those with her cause I was little at the time. Dad never knew about it. But my Uncle Qrow does." Ruby remembers whenever her older sister and uncle would watch with her. Since then, Ruby was used to seeing the scariest parts of the horror movies.

"Seriously? How long have you and Yang got away with it?" Jaune asked, shocked that Ruby had watched horror movies when she was young.

"Hmm? Can't say I remember it. But it was way back. Even the fairy tales she used to read to me are also scary." Ruby explains. With a mischievous smirk om her face. No wonder why she and Sun got along too well.

"Wow, compared to other guys and girls, you truly are a badass, Ruby!" Sun compliments. Amazed.This earned an eagerly snicker from her. To Sun, it's like having a little sister he never has before.

"Thanks, Sun!" Ruby grimaced. Causing Jaune to gawk. "Don't encourage her!" Jaune shouted. And felt a shiver down his spine when he hears this.

Aw man, it's like dealing with three battle-crazed maniacs.

Meanwhile

The rest of the Night Operatives are all gathered around in a dorm for a movie night.

"Ruby, Jaune and Sun should be back right now. They better not let my little sister wander around alone." Said the blonde girl.

Yang Xiao Long is Ruby's older half-sister. And the prower girl to Team RWBY. Her semblance allows her to get steonger after takaing damages from enemy attacks with her gauntlets, Ember Celica. Even with Ruby as the leader, Yang would look after her, no matter what.

"Yang, you promised yourself that you would try to let Ruby do some stuff on her own. And don't worry, I am sure Jaune and Sun would stick with her. They are our leaders, after all." Said the girl with a black bow.

Blake Belladonna. Former member of the White Fang who defected from the organization to become a huntress. Hiding her faunus traits with a bow on her hair. Her weapon is Gamboul Shroud. Her semblance allows her to create shadow clones of herself.

"You know what, being in the Night Operatives feels much better than staying at home." Said the girl with white hair.

Weiss Schnee is the heiress of the Schnee Dust Company. In order to preserve her grandfather's legacy, she takes upon hersef to enroll into Beacon Academy to restore her family honor. Her semblance — The Schnee Glyphs — is a rare trait passed down for generations. Her weapon is a rapier called Myrtenaster, which also infuses woth dusts.

"How so, Weiss?" Asked Ren.

Lie Ren, a young man raised to be a future head of the Ren Clan. After losing his parents, she and his friend Nora were raised by his aunt to become huntsmen. His friends would call him Ren. His semblance allows him to cloak himself and others to be undetected by Grimm. His main weapon are Storm Flower, a pair of pistols with blades.

"It means being with you guys. I felt like we already are truly friends, not just comrades. I had gotten to know you all already." Weiss admits. She never wanted to go back home for a reason. As she feels more at home in Beacon.

"And I thought you were a stuck-up rich girl since you were a bit bossy. But you're alright for a Schnee." A boy with red hair chuckled a bit. Weiss glared at him for calling her a "stuck-up rich girl."

Scarlet David, a red-haired boy with a past he never talks about. While caring for his friends, he can also have a temper when it comes to Sun being the leader of Team SSSN. Taking his job seriously as a Night Operative. His semblance allows him to glide from distances. His weapons are a sword and a barrel gun he names Hook and Darling.

"Hey!" Weiss said.

"Scarlet's just kidding, Snow Angel. What he means is is that ever since Professor Ozpin brought us all together, it felt good being around all of you." A boy with the Blue hair said.

Neptune Sky, a handsome young man who sports yellow goggles on his head. Though a cowardly student afraid of the water, Neptune is intelligent to come up with strategy. And is a good hacker. Neptune also has detective skills. As a result, people call him the "Ace Detective." His semblance is unknown, but his main weapon is a rifle called Tri-Hard, to stun enemies with Electricity dusts. It can also shift into a spear.

"In a way, you are right. I was used to being alone in a battle. Being in a team, it changed a lot. I think there is a lot more to become the Night Ops than just missions." Sage said.

Sage Ayana, another student that can sense aura from afar. He is more like an older-brother type to offer advice to others. He can be quiet most of the time. He has knowledge about the Grimm and has a semblance to camouflage to not be seen by enemies. His weapon is a giant sword dubbed Pilgrim.

"What do you mean?" Asked Blake as she puts down her book she was reading.

Sage took a minute to come up with a statement. "I mean, I cannot help but feel like we are being prepared for something we don't know what it is yet."

"Now that you mentioned it, what happened on Merlot's island was really extreme. Not like those missions for us First-Year students." Pyrrha adds.

Pyrrha Nikos—the star student of Beacon. Pyrrha is also known as the "Invincible Girl" after winning Mistral Regional Tournaments in four years prior to enrolling to Beacon. She is Jaune Arc's closest friend amd confidant as she helps train him. Her semblance is Polarity. Her weapon is a spear that also shifts into a rifle gun. An uses her shield to throw along with her semblance. Her spear and shield are dubbed Miló and Akoúo.

"Pyrrha's right. Whatever the reason, I am getting the same feeling as Sage is getting. The more we see, the more our sights became more open than ever." Blake stated. Having survived a mission in Merlot Island, Ozpin had been right to send the first-years into battle. But then again, seeing the risk, there is more to the story.

"Are you kidding me?! It's obvious that we are destined to become superheroes! Think about it! In a world where we are school students by day...TEENAGE MONSTER HUNTERS BY NIGHT!" Nora narrates her own version of their journey together. Like a dramatic scene from a comic book.

Nora Valkyrie, one of the muscle students to the Night Operatives. Cheerful, but with a feistiest attitude. She and Ren are childhood friends. And was raised alongside him when they trained together. There might be more to Ren and Nora than just being best friends. But time will tell in the future. Her semblance is to absorb lightning. Her weapons is a hammer that is also a grenade launcher, Magnhild.

"Our fearless leader leads us into battle. Scarlet handles the demolitions. Blake goes into stealth while we distract the robots in Merlot Island. And there I was...smashing those monsters and robots one-by-one!"

The group listen to Nora. As it was entertaining to hear that her stories brought cheer to them.

"Sun was like: "Let's take' em down!" As he was ready to kick some butt! The Grimm had no idea what hit them as we desroy the supply of Grimm Serum! Seeing this, Ruby follows along and said; "I'm right behind you!" She said."

"And Blake and Sage stayed behind to handle the pods that were generating the Grimm. Cause those things are annoying!" Nora continued. Blake took a look at the clock, and it was 11:59 PM at night.

Suddenly, before Nora can finish the story. The power went out. And the darkness looms through entire dorm living room. Causing Neptune to yelp in shock. But for a second before shaking his head. The clock then strikes 12AM.

"The hell? Hey, who turn out the lights?" Yang asked.

Ren picked up a remote control to turn on the news to see what was happening. But with one press of a button, nothing works. "Hmm? The TV stopped working." He said.

Pyrrha went to check the lightswitch. But to no avail. "So was the lightswitch." She said.

"Aw, come on! Not now! What about our movie night!" Nora yelled as stomped her feet, causing the floor to shake. Scarlet wobbled a bit before regaining his balance.

Sage was still in a calm state as he was just thinking it was just a power outage in the dorm. Then he sees the lights in the city turned off altogether. He checks his scroll. It wasn't working either. "Hey, it's not just the dorm."

Then Blake sees the window and saw the sky. There was the moon. But not just one moon, there is also another. One that is broken, but the other that isn't. "Huh? Two moons? And the sky. This isn't right."

Zwei, a corgi dog who happens to be sleeping on a rug near Yang, woke up and growls at the door. "What is it, boy?" Yang asked her dog.

"It appears Zwei sensed something as well. Even dogs can sense danger even faster than us." Ren points out.

"Professor Ozpin should be in Beacon Tower. If not, maybe we might see Professor Goodwitch, too." Weiss suggtested.

"In that case, we should see them to figure it out what is happening." Pyrrha said. "First we gear up and head there. I am getting the feeling we might run into danger if we go ahead, unprepared."

"That's sounds bloody right. We are the Night Ops after all." Scarlet said. "We have to do something."

"What about Ruby, Jaune and Sun?" Sage asked.

"Since our scrolls aren't working, maybe it's best to inform them they get—ah!" Weiss yelped as rubble from the floor began to rise. The Night Ops began to dodged the pillars rising from below.

"What was that?!" Neptune yelled. Though he was fearing what was happening, he takes Weiss' hand to not let her get hurt.

"An Earthquake?!" Yang shouted.

"No, we're under attack!" Sage said. "We need to go! Run!" Nobody need to tell them twice as they ran towards the door. Yang grabs Zwei and carries him with her.

As the 9 teens run for their lives. "Ahhhh!" They screamed. The walls and floor not only began to collapse, but it was also changing forms.

The world became blank. And the school changed from a palace-like academy, to a twisted and nightmarish tower version of the building.
