Twenty-four year old Yang Xiao Long should buy a stronger alarm clock. One that doesn't shatter when she punches it. It's not her fault the clock makes an obnoxious noise to wake her and she wants to punch it, or that she is a super strong Huntswoman. The alarm clock is just too weak and obnoxious. She stretches her arms and instinctively feels into the spot in the bed beside her and sighs sadly. She misses her frisky kitty. She still smells her, but she is on a mission. She wish she could have joined but for a good reason they can't go both at the same time.

The 'good reason' was even less then a morning person then her. "Yang, don't wanna go to school." The eight year old Ruby Rose, her little sister muttered.

"Thought you wanted to see your friends and get to the workshop?" Yang asked.

"Yeah, but it is so early. Why does school not start in the afternoon?" Ruby said as she rubbed her eyes.

"Then you're late at home and you'll miss the evening episode of the Crow Shack." Yang noted. "And I'm pretty sure you said you wanted to see if Lumi and Harmony would become friends at last." Yang thought back on her sister's favorite tv show.

"Fine." Ruby said as she got up. She saw the sunrise through her window. "Stupid sun, why can't you rise later?" she muttered.

Yang quickly put something together for breakfast. If it was weekend, she'd have fixed chicken and waffles, both fresh. Now she prepared instant toaster waffles and drown them in syrup with some leftover turkey bacon. It'll do for now.

"Yang, the Berry Bites are gone." Ruby said, having poured the last of the strawberry flavored cereal in her bowl with some milk. It was enough for one meal.

"Already? I only bought it three days ago." Yang said. Oh well, she had to get grocery shopping today.

"I may have had a few midnights snacks over the week." Ruby said sheepishly.

"I'll buy another box but if you cannot last a week with this one I'll stop buying them; they're not a cheap cereal. Besides, you'll be able to enjoy them longer." Yang said. Ruby hung her head and nodded. "I'm not mad." Yang assured her and Ruby perked up. "Now finish the Berry Bites and brush your teeth."

"I have to? I hate mint, I hate toothpaste." Ruby said.

"You want to see the dentist more often?" Yang asked.

"No…I'll brush." Ruby assured her as she scooped the cereal in her mouth.

"Good girl."

A few moments later Yang dropped Ruby off at the school gate. "Have a nice day at school Rubes. And don't try to have another 'Potato Clock incident'!"

"It was one time. A potato clock was too simple and boring, so I added some extras." Ruby said as she stepped out of the side cart that Yang had attached to her motorcycle Bumblebee.

"Just pulling your leg." She said. She resisted the urge to ruffle her hair, as it was a chore to get Ruby to sit down long enough to get her hair nice. She instead kicked her on her forehead. "Just don't make trouble and play nice, ok?"

"Ok big sis, I will." Ruby said with a perky smile. "Love you!"

"Love you too, Rubes!" Yang said as she waved and revved up her motorcycle.

Today was another day of odd jobs. First was helping with loading and docking. Due to being a Huntswoman she was far stronger then a normal human. Though Huntsman can't do these kind of job full times as it would destroy the job opportunities created for normal humans, without Aura, there were times she could be for help. Like to fill in, or with particular large or heavy loads and they can't find nowhere else. The crates which normally took two people to move, she could carry two at once in each arm. She had luckily learned how to balance well at this point, she was just lucky the last crate she broke dropped had nothing fragile inside.

"Show off." One dock worker said as Yang carried two crates.

"It means less for you, you moronosaurus!" Yang noted.

"Moronosaurus?"

"I am raising a kid and I have a swear jar." Yang noted. The dock worker lightened up and chuckled, and Yang joined in. It was just some playful ribbing.

Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

"All right, Clay. Show me what you got!" Yang said. This tutoring gig was a good side hustle. The young boy had recently unlocked his aura and needed a crash course so that he could join the Huntsman Academies next year if he got up to speed.

Right now he was wielding a shovel-like weapon that he modified from some old garden tools. It was crude but it was short term, he needed to get in shape first before he was allowed a more dangerous weapon. Well not that it wasn't dangerous already. Yang managed to dodge the obviously telegraphed swipes. The shovel glowed with aura, and it hit a rock instead and shattered it. Ok, he knew how to channel the aura. But he needs technique.

A few sloppy swipes, she had to take a few steps to the left or backwards. Then she caught the shaft of the weapon, disarmed Clay, grabbed him and pinned him to the ground. "You got force in your swings, that's good. But you can't mindless swing like a caveman." She helped him get up. "We start with some techniques. Aura and strength alone cannot carry you. I learned that the hard way."

"Is that how…" Clay asked as he looked at her right arm, it was a mechanical prothesis. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have asked."

"It's ok, and yes it was during a time I got reckless. But I didn't that keep me down. I learned and improved." Yang said. She has gotten over it for a while, she was a downer period for a while, though. "I learned to live with the arm, the robot arm has some advantages, I wouldn't advise sacrificing a limb on purpose." She managed to see it from a morbidly humorous side.

"Oh…I see." Clay said.

"Let's start simple. Ok, try to mimic my pose." Yang said. Clay tried the same pose. "Feet more apart…left heel a bit more backwards, its very vulnerable if its kicked like that…Ok good, so this is what we do next…" Clay had hit the ground about twenty seven more times by the end of the session but he was getting the hang of it. He didn't have experience now, but neither did she when she started. He was willing to learn, and he may get into an academy if he kept this type of effort up.

Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

It was a productive tutoring session, but she had other things to do. Like shopping. She normally took the cheap stuff, most of it was good enough to eat. And the select times it was not, she learned some things were worth paying extra for. Like ultra-soft toilet paper, she learned that the hard way.

After trying for five minutes to determine the difference between ketchup and catsup, she had everything she needed and went to wards the register…and the old lady before her brought a jar of coins and started counting them. She facepalmed with her organic hand (she learned the hard way after trying her robot hand once). Oh come on! She had stuff to do. There were no other open registers, what was the deal with that.

It can't get any worse. "What do you mean you don't accept coins? I don't care it's a new policy, I'm a paying customer! I want to speak to your manager!" the old lady said.

"I don't think the manager wants to speak to you!" Yang said aloud. She hadn't meant to say that. But it slipped out.

"I didn't ask you, you blonde bimbo." The old lady said. "Don't butt in, I don't have time for you."

"Should have thought about that before you brought in a jar of coins. And for your info, everyone here has somewhere to be. So use actual lien and stop bullying the poor cashier. His job is hard enough without having to count all those coins." The cashier girl looked at Yang like she was about to make a religion centered around her.

Another cashier opened another register. "You can come here, everyone!" the second cashier said. Yang and the others immediately jumped in line.

"Hey, what about me?" the old lady said.

"My colleague is still handling your products. And I went by the manager, she can take all the time she needs for it." The cashier said to her colleague and winked.

The first cashier smirked and took the coin jar. "One…two…" she said as she slowly took out the coins deliberately slow, one by one.

"Count faster!" the old lady said. She cursed that she hadn't thought this through.

"You made me lose count, I'll start over. One…two…"

Yang smiled as her products were scanned quickly. After this she thought about posting to r/entitledpeople. If anyone didn't post the story before her.

Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

"Ok…the recipe asks for four eggs, a pound of flour…a pound? Why doesn't it say in grams? Grams are simple. A thousand grams is a kilo, a pound is a random number of grams. Who came up with pounds? A pound is a punch…ugh, pound to gram converter." Yang said as she looked at the recipe on her scroll, while also opening the conversion program.

She was going to make a cookies and cream cake with strawberries for Ruby. It would be her birthday soon. She had to hide the cake so she wouldn't peak until tomorrow. Luckily she had an empty box of a 'Chewy's XXL Pack of sugar-free Oatmeal-Raisin Cookies'. Ruby would never dare to peek in a box like that. She hates surgarfree oatmeal raising cookies. She calls them 'fake cookies that taste of evil!'

Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

"…and make sure she gets in bed by ten. She doesn't like brushing so keep an eye on that. And she got enough sugar for today so keep her out of the cupboards. Only thing in reach are some oatmeal raising cookies and she won't touch those." Yang explained the babysit.

"That's noted. No worries Miss Xiao Long, I have dealt with many kids, I am prepared for about any situation." The babysit said, a young woman with red hair, freckles and braces. "I'll take good care of little Ruby."

"Do you have to go?" Ruby asked.

"It's a night job, and we need the money. No worries, I only have to go once this week. And Kari here is a nice gal. Just don't make things too hard for her okay?" Yang said as she ruffled Ruby's hair.

"Hey, I thought you didn't want to mess up my hair?" Ruby asked. She acted annoyed but she was smiling.

"Hey, school is over, and you are going to bed in a few hours, so tidy hair is no longer needed." Yang chuckled. "Know that I love you, Rubes."

"…love you, Yang." Ruby said as she hugged her sister. "Be careful?"

"I'm a Huntswoman, there are more things out there afraid of me than I should be of them. And don't make Miss Kari life too hard, won't you?"

"I'll try." Ruby said.

Yang left the house. 'Have I mentioned to Kari that Ruby already has her Semblance unlocked? Oh well, she said she can handle it.' She wanted to start up Bumblebee, but she only heard a bang and the motorcycle was done for. "Ugh, I shouldn't have delayed going to the garage to save a few lien…" She bashed her head on the steering wheel and the claxon sounded. "I can still make it if run like Ever After!"

Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

"Oh, hi Yang, that was close!"

"Bumblebee…broke down…had to…run." Yang panted. Now she was in uniform. Her night job was as a bouncer at a club. She took a few deep breath and recomposed.

"So, how are things with Ruby?" her colleague asked.

"Same old. Sweet as a button, but still hates getting up early and brushing teeth. It's her birthday tomorrow." Yang said.

"You do a night shift and get up early for a party? You'll be a wreck tomorrow."

"I couldn't reschedule my shift. I'll just go through the day, running on positivity, willpower and Orange Bison energy drinks." Yang noted. "Anything to make her special day the best."

"You are a strong woman, Xiao Long. And…a good sister." Her colleague said. He paused for a bit. "You know I told you about how me and Russ are going to adopt a kid? When the time comes, you can offer me some advice?"

"Well congrats, you two are taking the next step. Though advice that applies for Ruby may not apply for your future kid. But I'll try. So how far are you along?" Xiao Long replied.

"Wel we have been taking a look at several kids but there is one kid that has been worming her way into our hearts and…you're going to laugh at this. She's a Faunus."

Yang chuckled. "Who'd have known, Cardin Winchester adopting a Faunus?"

The other bouncer, Cardin chuckled. "Yeah, who'd have guessed. I was a right berk back then."

"You changed. You went from hunter school frat bro with a single braincell and nasty prejudices to a well adjusted member of society." Yang assured him.

"A healthy dose of reality, that the real world people and Grimm alike won't just take my attitude…Had a lot of apologizing to do. Velvet is polite but Coco is still throwing me dirty looks from behind those high fashion sunglasses." Cardin said.

"Just being an overprotective wife. Blake and I are the same even if we no longer carry the grudge."

"Your girlfriend still throws dirty looks at me sometimes too. By the way, is she still on a mission?" Cardin asked.

"Yeah, mission had to be extended, bigger Grimm plague then usual. She wanted to be in time for Ruby's birthday but…" Yang said. "I tried my best to explain it to Ruby but she'll be sad for a bit. I hope the cake and presents will make up. Have been saving up for months. At the cost of Bumblebee."

"Well you go above and beyond for her. And I know I will when me and Russel make that step with our kid." Cardin said.

"For what it's worth, this new you, the you that decided to start using more than one braincell at the time, he will be a good dad." Yang joked.

"Screw you, Xiao Long." Cardin joked back.

"No thanks, I'm very into my girlfriend. Also don't mention 'screw', she's been gone too long and I'm getting the female equivalent of blue balls here." Yang said. Both laughed a bit harder. "Oh, we got people coming, put on the stone face." Yang said as they saw a group of party goers going to the club.

First thing they noticed was a familiar face. The two nodded at each other. "You're not on the list, sir!" Cardin said.

"Hey, why not let the birds and bees be free. Like the wind, I'll be blowing wherever and whomever I want. I just want to go in there and share my greasy sweet moves with the world." The greasy dude said.

Yang had to resist not scowling. The guy's speech was grating, like he learned to talk from old 80's Hip hop videos. So cringe. "You have been banned due to earlier incidents with the female clientele. There have been restraining orders."

"Girls just playing hard to get." The greasy guy said.

"Unlike what you think, there is no such thing. 'No', means 'no'!" Yang said. "Now get your butt out of here.

"You know whom my Dad is! He is Mend's Chief of police!" the greasy guy said.

"And we're supposed to be afraid? From what I heard, Daddy is not in a good position for trying to constantly bailing your butt out and keeping you out of jail. He can't do that song and dance forever. Now, he may be a police chief and has dealt with the worst of humanity, but we are Hunters…" Yang said as she lowered her sunglasses. "We deal with the worst of everything."

The sleazy man was intimidated but he didn't want to admit. "I'm too good for this club, adios bitches!" he said as he walked backwards and made rude gestures to try and get the last word, only to trip over the sidewalk. He got up and scurried away with as much dignity as he could muster.

"It's going to be one of those nights, isn't it?" Cardin said.

"Yup. If the first guy we see is like that, not a good sign." Yang said. Her scroll rang. "Hang on, I got to take this. Hello, Yang speaking?"

The voice of her babysit rang from the other side, and she was shouting: "WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL YOUR SISTER HAD FREAKIN' SUPERSPEED! AND SHE SPREADS ROSE PETALS EVERYWHERE, WHAT IS UP WITH THAT?"

"Oh, I knew I forgot something…" Yang said.

Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Last night could have gone better. Many more unwanted people tried to get into the club. Some did need more convincing than a death glare. But she and Carden kept them out. The boss was generous and gave them some extra for good work. She used that to give a tip to the babysit whom was way sporting way too wide a smile when she returned and ran out as soon as she got the pay. Aside a few stray petals she left the house clean enough.

She does curse her spare alarm clock and felt like tracking down the inventor of the alarm clock and shove her robotic fist up his (another lien for the swear jar). She cleaned herself up (she got good as showering with one hand), dried off, put her prosthetic in place and go downstairs. After downing a can of Orange Bison energy drink she got to work.

She hung the decorations, she prepared some cheap finger foods for the kids that would come for the party, so she just would have to heat them up later. If only Blake would be back from her mission, the day would be perfect. But she knew her luck wasn't that great, how big was the chance that…

Oh, the doorbell rang. Did the first kid come early? She thought she put the right time on the invitations. Or maybe it's the mailman? She decided to open the door…and was tackled to the ground immediately and she saw black and white…and heard purring.

A woman with black hair and black cat ears had tackled her to the ground and locked her lips onto hers. She recognized the taste of those lips, the little nibble of her kitty fangs, the soft scratches on her shoulders from claws that dug deep enough to rouse her but not hurt her, and the tickling feeling of a black cat tail across her leg. When the kiss stopped and her brain rebooted she looked into the eyes of her girlfriend's Amber eyes, which were in cat-like slits which means she was really excited. "Hey." She said softly.

"You're back…I thought it was going to be longer." Yang said.

"I had to make it back for Ruby's birthday. I have been extra rough on those Grimm. Also we got paid double since there were more and it took longer. We may be able to take Ruby on a short vacation and have some spare money to boot." Blake said.

"Enough spare money to let's say fix a motorcycle?" Yang asked.

"The fact you skipped maintenance on Bumblebee to save money has come back to bite you, didn't it?" Blake asked with her usual dry tone.

"Yeah, my bad. But we managed to get what we needed for Ruby's gifts didn't we?" Yang said. "And with you here, her birthday can't go wrong."

"I missed her too. She still asleep?" Blake asked.

"It's weekend and she is not a morning person, she'll be sleeping for a little while longer." Yang replied.

"And how far are you setting up the party?" Blake asked.

"Decorations are done, gifts were wrapped and hidden days ago and I am nearly done with the food, we'll only have to warm it up when the kids come." Yang said.

"Good, let's finish the last bit of food prep and…act out Ninjas of Love." Blake said.

"Whuh?" Yang's brain froze for a bit.

"I missed you, I want you…I even got catnip to get me in the mood." Blake said as she started to purr.

"But Ruby…" Yang whispered.

"We soundproofed our room, remember? Won't be a repeat of that awkwardness. Besides, nyeed you right nyow!" Blake said, a Cat Faunus accent slipping through. Whenever she used that, Yang's spine tingled.

Well, Orange Bison energy drink was a good boost, but nothing gave her more energy then a game of 'Ninjas of Love!'

Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

"Yang, me and Summer have something to tell you…" Taiyang, Yang's father said.

"You…May have noticed something different about me." Summer Rose, Yang's stepmother officially, but her mother in any way it counts said as she patted her stomach.

"I don't want to say it but it seems you have been gaining weight. You feeling okay, Mom?" Yang asked? Was Summer depressed, is that why she was eating more.

"In a way, but it isn't fat." Summer said. "You're…going to be a big sister."

"What the fresh Ever After? But…I thought that…" Yang asked in surprise.

"Chances were very small, the doctors said. They were not zero but years of trying didn't help and we gave up. But then something unexpected happened." Summer said. "It is a bit shocking, because you are nearly at an adult age and this kid…I know it is a shock and our lives are turned upside down, you may be upset."

"I'm not upset. It's wonderful news." Yang said. "I always wanted to be a big sister. I thought that dream would never come to be but…It's a bit later sure but…I'm happy. Summer, you are my mother in any way that counts, and any child born from you, I promise to be the best big sister I can be." Yang said.

"I'm glad you are happy. I was nearly afraid our family would be torn apart…how foolish of me. Stupid pregnancy hormones…and now the stupid cravings, I can't stop eating cookies and strawberries. I'm not even a sweet tooth!" Summer sobbed.

"No need to cry, shouldn't we celebrate or something?" Yang asked.

"How about a family group hug first?" Taiyang said. Taiyang, Summer and Yang engaged in a three way hug. Everything seemed perfect.

Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Yang held a crying Ruby, whom was barely one year old. Yang looked tired. The recent addition of her biology, the robot arm hung limp next to her. She didn't dare to hold Ruby with it as she wasn't sure she had full control over the arm's strength yet. "It's ok, Rubes. Big sister is here…everything will be…" she couldn't say the word 'fine' because nothing was fine. Taiyang and Summer vanished. No one could find them. They were gone for so long, they had no choice to declare them legally dead.

Now she was all that Ruby was. She only recently graduated, she only has taken small Hunters' jobs. She has to raise Ruby with that? She helped Summer take care of Ruby but now she was alone. She could not do this…No, she could not give up. Ruby needed her. So what if she was alone, was getting used to a prosthetic, she had no other family, she had to find a way to make this right."

"I'm so sorry Yang." A younger Blake, she hadn't left. Blake had wanted to. When things got tough, she tended to run. To avoid an abusive ex. A half-cocked idea of protecting her loved ones by distancing herself. And if Yang still had her family, she would have. Taiyang and Summer would take care of her. But now she hadn't. It was her and Ruby. And she couldn't run now. She couldn't leave Yang like this, she and Ruby wouldn't make it. "I…promise I'll stay by you. I'll help you. I will help take care of Ruby, you don't have to do it alone." For once she won't let her fears control her.

"Blake…" Yang said softly, sounding tired, but also relieved. She managed a soft smile. Blake gave her a peck on the lips. "Huh?"

"I had…thoughts. Dark thoughts. I…when I thought of where it would leave you and Ruby, I couldn't…I have been so scared before, and running away, I was a scaredy-cat but…I cannot this time. You're my partner Yang, and…Oh Gods I am a mess too." Blake wiped some tears. Yang gently put her forehead to Blake's. It was a sign of affection among Faunus, and it calmed Blake down.

"Thanks Blake…at least…you didn't leave." Yang said. After her bio-mom left, and with Taiyang and Summer gone she…well, it is no issue now. Blake said she'd stay. That's all that matters. It would be rough, but the three of them had each other now.

Ruby had stopped crying as she had grabbed Blake's tail. She was gentle with it and straddled it like a plushie. It comforted her. Blake and Yang's eyes were teary but they smiled a little. They sat down on the couch. And Yang sang a little lullaby:

Hush little baby don't fear no more

Mama did slay the Nevermore

The big black bird did burn and crash

And faded away in shadow and ash

Then from the forest an Ursa came

Mama geared up and set it aflame

Then the Beowolf howled at the moon

Mama then dispatched it really soon.

Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

"Happy birthday Ruby!" Yang, Blake and all the kids and guests at the party said. The large cake Yang made was put before her on the table, eight candles aflame.

"The cake has cookies and strawberries, it is my favorite things in one. With Blake here and this cake it is already the best birthday ever!" Ruby said.

"Now, don't get ahead, there is a lot to happen yet. But first, blow all these candles out. Then we open your gifts!" Yang said.

Ruby did as she was told, the candles were out, and everyone clapped and cheered. Soon they chanted 'Presents, presents!'

"You heard them, Yang! Presents!" Ruby said as she opened her arms. "Gimme, gimme, gimme!"

"All right, you little scamp." Yang said. "First is my gift." She gave Ruby a larger box-shaped gift.

It was put in front of Ruby as she tore the paper off. When she opened it she saw it: "Hunter's first weapon kit?" Ruby said excited. It wasn't to make real weapons but for kids whom dream about becoming Hunters in the future, this play set helped them develop their first technological skills. "Now this is the bestest birthday even more."

Yang was happy, she had been saving up a while for that. It was worth all the sleepless nights and back-breaking work. "Told ya so!" Yang said.

"Thanks mom-I mean big sis!" Ruby said as she hugged Yang. Yang didn't shed tears or let know she caught Ruby's slip up. She would push those feelings down until later and she would bawl her eyes out. She knew she was the only mother figure Ruby ever remembered in her life, and there was a lot of unpack. Maybe not all bad but… But not now.

"I'm so happy you like it." Yang said as she kissed Ruby's forehead.

"I managed to pick up a little extra on the way from my mission." Blake said as she gave Ruby a wrapped gift.

When that was unwrapped, Ruby wasn't surprised to see a book. But there are books Ruby did like, and what Blake bought was a good book. 'So you want to be a Hunter?', a book that introduces young readers to the world of the Hunters. "This is amazing, Blake. Best book ever! You're the second best mom-sis ever!" Ruby said as she hugged Blake too.

Blake would take Yang's example and hold it in until she can bawl out her eyes later. Well, Blake was both the second mom and sis to Ruby. She knew already but it felt official. But party first.

Ruby got many more gifts, toys and dvd's of her fav shows. And Yang cut the cake, Ruby of course getting the first piece. "Bigger piece!" Ruby said.

"There has to be something left for the others. Besides, you can't stuff yourself too full, you will get sick." Yang said.

"I'll take the risk." Ruby said with a smile. Yang and Blake chuckled. Though when they didn't give a bigger piece, Ruby didn't object and happily munched away, as the kids all ate away at the cake. This little birthday party has gone incredibly well. And the way Ruby happily smiled at everything made all they had to go through worth it. Her smile is what pushed Yang and Blake forward in life.

Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

After the parents and their kids went home, and everything was cleaned up, it got late. The family of three went to bed. For today, Ruby slept in between her and Blake. Blake was fast asleep, sleep-purring as the vibrations of her body as she did had a soothing effect on Yang and Ruby. Ruby was fast asleep, again using Blake's tail as a plushie to cuddle. Only Yang lay awake, but didn't move.

Long ago she thought about going to look for Taiyang and Summer. But she couldn't leave Ruby alone. She had to make the toughest choice and focus on Ruby. Summer and Taiyang would tear her a new one if she did otherwise. She knew she made the right choice. Maybe one day she would find them, but until then she would do her duty.

She was glad Blake stayed. Ruby adored her as much as Yang, she has grown into the role despite her own set of insecurities. Yang had saved for the birthday but she would continue to save for a little longer. Because she hoped one day that she wouldn't wimp out and pop the question to Blake. Blake would give her a telling off for spending a fortune on an ceremony or ring, but even if they kept things simple, she needed a bit of cash. But after that, things would be…would she call it perfect? She didn't know, but she got what she needed and it was enough.

She had Ruby and she had her beloved Blake. She never knew what the future brought. But she felt there would always be a bright spot. Yang smiled as she finally dozed off, waiting for what tomorrow may bring.

NOTES

-As you noticed, this is an AU where Yang raises a much younger Ruby as her guardian, being a big sister and a mom at the same time.

-Raven Shack is a pastiche of the Owl House.

-Orange Bison is a reference to Red Bull.

-I didn't plan a future redeemed Cardin to be Yang's fellow part time bouncer but the idea came to me.

-I planned Oscar to be the kid Yang tutored, but changed my mind as if I ever do a follow up I may want Oscar to do something different.

-First the lullaby was going to be just Hush little baby, but I turned it into a Remnantian version of the song.

-As you may have noticed from Blake's description, the Faunus in this AU have more than one animal trait.

AUTHOR'S COMMENTS

I have hit a slump with my existing projects; I got ideas for several AUs for different franchises, I'll be trying to write those to get them out of my system. Depending on how my weird brain will work and readers' reaction some of these may not remain oneshots

had enough ideas for this oneshot, could easily be twice as long but didn't want to keep it that long. IF this does well a lot of the unused stuff can be used for a second oneshot, and maybe more where more characters are introduced.

Questions about this Au, you can freely ask them, but I can't guarantee I'll answer them due to spoilers for future oneshots, or because I haven't thought it out.
