Rubble was just outside of Adventure City, helping with some wind turbines. The workers needed to get the job done to meet their deadlines. Since Rubble was the construction pup, he figured he could help out. They were just finishing for the day by securing one of the last blades to one of the turbines.
"Okay, Rubble," one of the workers said. "We should be done for today."
"Need me to drop by tomorrow?" Rubble asked.
"No need. We should have everything up and running by tomorrow."
"If you say so. See you later, Mr. Hudson." Rubble soon drove away back to the lookout. Along the way, he passed by the railroad tracks to see a locomotive stopped while pulling strange-looking wagons. They looked like big metal barrels on flatbeds.
Rubble wondered why the train had stopped until he saw a group of people on the tracks. They were angry, and shouting, and some even had signs. They kept yelling with the train horn blaring as the engineer wanted them to get off the tracks.
Figuring something was wrong, Rubble parked his rig and walked over to the group of people blocking the tracks. "Excuse me!" he cried, trying to get their attention. The people were too busy yelling at the engineer, who he and the conductor were getting tired of being stuck in place.
Eventually, the train crew saw Rubble outside. The conductor left the engineer in the cab so he could exit and talk with the construction pup. "Hello, Rubble," the conductor said, "So happy that you're here. This mob has been here blocking us for over ten minutes."
"But why are they doing that?" Rubble asked.
"We're not letting you dump that toxic waste into the earth!" one of the people cried.
This on its own made Rubble a little worried. "Toxic waste?" he questioned.
"It's from the nuclear power plant," the conductor explained. "It has to go somewhere and we're taking it to a designated location."
"But what's stopping that plant from exploding?" one of the people questioned.
"Several safety features and inspections," the conductor added. "Rubble, could you call your teammates to help sort this out."
"I'm on it," the bulldog said, activating his pup tag.
A short while later, Ryder, Chase, and Marshall arrived at the scene. "What's going on here," Ryder asked, stepping off his ATV.
"We have the right to stop them from ruining our planet!" a man cried.
"We can use the earth to make our power!" a woman added.
Confused, the PAW Patrol turned to the conductor. "Half an hour of this," he sighed in annoyance.
Chase quickly got his megaphone out of his pup pack so he could speak up to the crowd. "Please, get off of the tracks!" he ordered, "You're blocking the path for other trains."
The crowd wasn't willing to listen. This led to a long and tedious time for Ryder and the pups to force them off the tracks so the train with the waste cars could finally pass through. Since they could no longer block the engine, the people disbursed, some of them complaining to the PAW Patrol.
"This isn't the last time you've heard from us!" a young adult cried pointing his finger right at Ryder's face.
"That's what I'm afraid of," Ryder sighed.

After they got home, the boy and his pups went to rest in the living room. Rubble didn't hesitate to turn the TV on to start watching Apollo the Super Pup.
Sam walked into the room and saw they looked exhausted. "It felt like a quiet day today," she commented, "What happened?"
"We had to get an angry mob of the tracks," Marshall explained.
"Oh, not again."
"Wait, this happened before?" Rubble questioned.
"Numerous times. I feel it's been happening since that power plant started."
"Which one?"
"The nuclear-powered one," Ryder answered.
"How does nuclear power work?" Marshall asked.
"It's a little complicated, but I'll try and simplify it." He got his pup pad out and showed some images of the outside and inside of a nuclear power plant. "The plant has a nuclear reactor that bowls water to make steam. The steam is used to move turbines, which turns some generators, which make electricity."
"So what's the difference between this and other fuel sources, like gasoline?"
"Well, nuclear power doesn't produce CO2, but it can still be dangerous. It can cause radiation, which leads to sicknesses, mutations, or worse." For worse, Ryder showed Rubble a picture of a skull and crossbone.
"So is that why people are so afraid of nuclear power?" Marshall asked.
"I guess so."
"I can't blame them in that part," Sam admitted, "But the plant has plenty of rules, features, and inspections to help keep this power safe."
"Only the people don't know that," Chase commented.
"Yes, they don't understand some things, and instead of trying to figure it out, they just get scared and angry."
"Hopefully this mob blocking the tracks is as bad as it gets," Ryder said, "But I'm not going to hold my breath." They all had a feeling that this might get worse, but Rubble was wanting to know more about the power plant.
(Scene change: Rubble's badge)
The next day, Rubble was patrolling the city when he stopped by the University to check in with someone. Kendra Wilson was typing away at a keyboard as the construction pup entered the room. "Hi, Kendra," Rubble said.
The woman looked down at the pup and was surprised to see him. "Hello, Rubble," Kendra said, "What brings you here?"
"I'm wanting to know about the plants powering the city. We had some trouble with people not liking the nuclear power plant."
Kendra sighed as she rubbed her forehead. "Boy, I am tired of people like that."
"You met people like that too?"
"More often people who don't know what they're talking about. Do you know how a nuclear power plant works?"
"Ryder explained it was like a very dangerous boiler."
"That sounds like a good explanation for a few reasons. Like how something like a stove can be dangerous too. If handled poorly a fire can break out."
"Or a vehicle when you don't take care when driving it."
"Yes, exactly. Besides, if you want proof of how safe the plant is, ask one of the people who work there?"
"Well who does?"
"I'm not too sure. Maybe you could drive to the plant yourself. As a rescuer I'm sure you'd have access."
"It's worth a try. Wish me luck Kendra, thanks for the advice." Rubble quickly ran out of the room as Kendra watched him go.
"Um, glad I could help."
A little while later, Rubble drove up to the power plant and carefully walked inside. "Hello?" the bulldog called.
One of the workers heard him. This man had brown hair, pale skin, and green eyes. He was confused to see the PAW Patroller. "What are you doing here?" the man asked.
"I was on a daily patrol, and I was wanting to know more about the power plant and its safety."
The worker thought a little bit before responding to this. "Well, since you're a rescue responder, I guess I could show you around." Rubble was happy to hear this and followed the worker around.
The plant had a couple of things to take note of, these included the turbines that generated power for the city, some backup diesel generators, a storage area with thick walls where they store the waste. Each and every area Rubble was shown, he was given information on the safety procedures they had in case anything could go wrong.
Once they had finished with the tour, Rubble was about to leave when they could see some people holding signs and chanting angrily. "Oh, not this again," the worker sighed.
"Should I call for Ryder?" Rubble asked.
"Not yet. Let me handle this." The man walked outside and tried to talk calmly but the people weren't in the mood to talk peacefully. Rubble had a feeling this might get ugly fast so he played it safe and called for Chase.
(Scene change: Chase's badge)
After ages of taking care of the angry mob, Chase and Rubble slowly began to drive home. "Three hours," Chase groaned, "Three hours just to tell people to go home and leave the people to do their work."
"I know," Rubble sighed, "Why is it so hard to see that the plant is perfectly safe?"
"I think they choose to be blind." Along the way, they were passing by City Hall, which gave Rubble an idea.
"Say Chase, you keep going, I'm going to talk with the mayor." Rubble pulled over to the side of the road and hopped out to walk into city hall.
Mayor Goodway was in her office, feeding some corn to Chickaletta when she saw the construction pup walk in. "Afternoon Rubble," the mayor said, "What brings you here?"
"I wanted to talk about some people being angry with the nuclear power plant," Rubble explained. "We've had to take care of the mobs that were wanting to close it down."
"Oh dear. How often has this been happening?"
"I'm not sure. I've seen a similar thing happen yesterday when they were blocking the tracks."
"Now that's just dangerous. Honestly, what were they thinking?"
"I'm not sure if they were. We have to figure out what to do before something bad happens."
"Yes, we do. It sounds like we need a meeting to discuss how to take care of this."
"We can have the rest of the PAW Patrol present. They'll agree that the nuclear power plant is safe."
"I sure hope they do."
(Scene change: PAW Patrol badge)
The next day, most of the people in Adventure City met up at City Hall. Ryder and pups were present along with some people from the power plant. The protesters were also present wanting to voice their opinion.
Mayor Goodway tapped her microphone to make sure it was working. "Hello, everyone," the mayor said, "I'm glad you could come here to help with the situation of Adventure City's nuclear power plant. I would like to start off by thanking Rubble by addressing the problem, so I think it's best if we have him start us off."
Rubble walked up in front of the people and got some help from the mayor, who lifted him up so he could speak into the microphone. "Thank you, mayor," the construction pup said. "Now, after some research, I've learned about the various safety features put in place. Like the storage area has eighteen-inch thick walls to keep the radiation in."
Skye leaned closer to Ryder so she could whisper to him. "How thick is that?" she asked.
"Well, twelve inches makes a foot," Ryder informed. "So those walls would be about your height." Skye and the rest of pups thought about this, they had never seen a wall that thick.
"Plus there's also specially made rolling stock to transport any waste the plant produces," Rubble added. "There was once an experiment where a train collided full speed into one of the cars, known as a flask, and the container was practically intact. If it can survive a crash like that, it's highly doubtful a simple derailment could cause any trouble."
"But what about that one plant that overheated and forced everyone to leave a town?" one of the protesters questioned.
"That was years ago and it can be a good example of what happens when you don't have proper safety." Rubble continued his explanation with the mayor helping to look up a few photos and videos to help prove his point.
"This all sounds like good points," Rocky commented.
"Yeah, hopefully, this will get the protestors to be quiet," Chase muttered.
As the meeting carried on, Rubble kept bringing up statements and counterarguments to any questions that were asked. He even had some of the workers come up to the stage to give their own explanation. Despite all of the evidence they provided, some people were still not convinced.
As if they were talking to a brick wall, no matter what they brought up, some people weren't convinced. Eventually, it started to develop into another argument. Chase sighed as he knew he would have to help break it up.
"Alrighty quiet down!" Chase ordered, speaking through his megaphone. He looked to Mayor Goodway, hoping she would say something to help.
"Okay, so it seems like we still have some issues with the power plant," Mayor Goodway announced, "Even with the amount of evidence saying otherwise. So if we're going to keep making this an issue, I'd suggest we have a vote, on whether or not the plant stays open."
There was a bit of a mixed reception to this. "Um, Mayor," Rubble said, "I'm not sure that's a good idea."
Goodway leaned closer to the pup to whisper to him. "I know, but I can't think of anything else that will satisfy them." She turned back to her microphone to talk to the crowd. "This will be a test to see if the city would improve without the plant or not. If you vote to keep it, then the plant stays, if not, then it'll be closed. However, if things go south, then it will be reopened."
There was a bit of discussion between all of the people in the crowd. Many of them, including Ryder and the pups, were worried about things were going south. Rubble felt bad as he thought he was finally getting through to them, but seemed like they were still going to have trouble.
(Scene change: Rubble's badge)
Later that week, Rubble sat on the living room sofa, still upset about how bad the meeting went. "I don't understand what I did wrong," he muttered.
"You did everything you could," Sam noted, "Some people are just that stubborn."
"Some of them just need to learn the hard way," Owen added. "Did I tell you about the time I was about to replace some tires for a customer and they thought I was doing it wrong?"
"Oh that's a great one," Chase commented as he walked into the room. "How long did you say it took them before they let you do it correctly?"
"Three hours. You should've seen the looks on their faces when I showed them the right way. Man, I wish I had recorded that day."
"Yeah, but I think I should let you know about something." He got the remote and turned on the TV and got to the right channel to show the news.
The news had come on with Marty Muckracker giving a report. "And with the mayor's new experimental vote has shown that most people have been wanting the plant to be shut down," he announced. "Because of this, the nuclear power plant will be shut down to see how the city deals solely on wind power."
"...You've got to be kidding me," Rubble groaned.
"I should've seen this coming," Sam sighed.
Rubble looked up to the adults, "So what happens now?"
"Now we hope for the best," Owen said. "You did help with the windmills, didn't you?"
"I was helping to fill in for when one of the cranes broke down. They were setting up new windmills so those should help power the city, right?" Owen and Sam didn't have a clear answer.
"Let's just wait and see," Sam replied.
(Scene change: Rocky's badge)
The next day, Rocky was helping to pick up some recycling from the Pet Parlor before driving down the street. He stopped at a traffic light that had turned red, so he had to stop. As the mixed breed waited for the light to change, he thought he saw the lights flickering like they had a bad connection.
Before he could question it, the light came back as green and an impatient driver honked his horn behind the truck. "Gah! Okay, I'm going," Rocky proclaimed. He pressed on the gas and drove away, feeling concerned about the flickering lights.
Meanwhile, Skye and Zuma compete at the arcade playing a game of Pup Pup Boogie. Skye clearly had the advantage, since the track here wasn't one that Zuma was used to, being themed around the old West, and requiring different dance moves. "How are you doing Zuma?" Skye asked.
"Hanging in there," Zuma muttered. He heard the infamous quacking noise that signaled he got a move wrong. Skye was excited as she thought she was going to beat her high score again until the screen suddenly went black.
The lights in the arcade blinked for a moment and all of the arcade machines momentarily lost their power, including Pup Pup Boogie. The game restarted showing the demo of how the game was played. "What? No!" Skye cried. She jumped up at the screen as she couldn't believe what had happened. "I was about to win!"
"What happened?" Zuma questioned. Skye lost her grip and fell down, landing on her back. "Would it help if we had a wematch?" An upset whimper was the only thing that escaped Skye's muzzle.
At the lookout, Rubble, Chase, and Marshall were just watching TV. They could see Appolo leaping towards a building that looked like it was about to collapse. Just before he could get to the kitten that was trying to reach out, the TV's screen went black and the lights went out. "Oh what the heck?" the pups cried.
The lights soon came back on, but the TV needed to be switched on manually. By the time they did, Apollo's show was over. "No!" Rubble cried, "What happened?"
"Maybe something's wrong with the power," Marshall guessed.
"It's the wind farm," Chase stated, "It can't give enough power to the whole city."
"They already added more before the nuclear power plant got shut down," Rubble reminded.
"I guess the nuclear one was more powerful than we thought," Marshall noted.
"If it's not working, then the plant should be able to reopen."
"I sure hope so," Chase commented. He suddenly got a call from his pup tag.
"Hey, guys, did you notice any blinking lights?" Rocky asked.
"Skye and I saw awcade machines lose powew," Zuma informed. "It costed us ouw game. Skye's not taking it well." They could hear some angry barking which sounded like it was from Skye, along with a couple of other angry people at the arcade.
"We lost power to our show," Rubble added, "You think we should tell the mayor about this."
"I can do it," Marshall informed.
"Please do," Chase said, "I'm not in the mood to deal with any more angry and ignorant people." Marshall nodded as he went to get his firetruck.
While Marshall was making his way to get to City Hall, the wind started to pick up. It was noticeable at the wind farm, where one of the turbines looked to be accelerating. It spun faster and faster until the blades snapped off from the speed. The blades collided with the two windmills that were close to it, knocking that out of commission too.
Marshall was unaware of this, as he started coming up to an intersection. Then the lights went out completely. The fire pup saw this and quickly hit the brakes. Just in time too, as he stopped right before hitting two cars that narrowly swerved around each other. "That's not good," Marshall commented, looking up at the unpowered light. Then Marshall noticed the lack of lights from any of the buildings.
Traffic began to build up, surrounding his fire truck and making it hard if not impossible to get out. Concerned, he turned on his sirens to alert vehicles to get out of the way. The gambit seemed to work, giving Marshall enough space to move his firetruck out of the way. After parking his truck, the Dalmatian could see the traffic jam built up again. Cars only moved a foot at a time with horns blaring through the air.
Knowing there would be problems throughout the rest of the city, Marshall contacted some help. "Ryder, do you have power where you are?" he asked into his pup-tag.
"No, I don't," Ryder replied. He tried flicking a light switch on and off again, with no results. He was puzzled by the waves of honking. "Is power out downtown?"
"Yes, and now there's a traffic jam. I barely managed to get out."
"It sounds like the wind farm couldn't handle it anymore. Marshall, do you think you can get back to the lookout?"
"I'll try." Marshall started to look for an alternate route as Ryder knew he had to call the rest of the team. He extended his pup-pad to press the call-all button.
"PAW Patrol, to the lookout!" he called.
"Ryder needs us!" the pups called.
Rubble and Chase were about to head into the elevator before they remembered something important. "Right, no power, no working elevator," Chase commented. "We'll have to take the stairs to get our gear."
The two pups up the stairs as the others started getting closer to the lookout. Zuma and Skye were making the run on foot while Marshall and Rocky drove their trucks. It was actually harder since most of the roads were blocked by traffic.
Thankfully Marshall was able to use his sirens to get through, but even so, they got stuck for a little bit. It felt like it took forever before the two got back to the lookout. Once the Dalmatian and mixed breed ran inside, they found the rest of their team waiting in front of the door. Marshall wasn't expecting this and ended up ramming straight into the elevator door after the pups moved out of the way.
"Ugh…. The one time I'm first to be at the elevator," Marshall groaned, "And it's out of power." He fell down to the floor before Rocky helped him up and handed him his gear.
"Okay, pups," Ryder spoke, "I'm sure you know why you've been called here."
"The wind farm's on strike?" Skye asked jokingly.
"In a way." Since Ryder couldn't use the TV, he held his pup pad in front of the pups to show what happened. "Apparently some of the turbines have broken off and now the other windmills can't generate enough power."
"If only we had another power plant to pick up the slack," Rocky remarked with sarcasm.
"The city needs its power back, so for this mission, I'll need Rubble. Since you helped to set up the new turbines before, I'll need you and your crane to help lift the blades into place."
"Rubble on the double!" the bulldog proclaimed.
"Rocky, I'll need you and your tools to fix up the blades so we can fit them back into place."
"Don't lose it, reuse it!" the mixed breed said.
"Given how high the windmills are Marshall I'll need you and your ladder to help us reach it."
"I'm fired up!" Marshall called.
"However, we don't need you right away. I want you to go with Chase, Zuma, and Skye, to see if there are any problems around town."
"We'll let you know if any troubles need backup," Chase informed.
"Thanks Chase. PAW Patrol is on a roll!" Ryder ran to get to the garage as the rest of the pups ran to their vehicles.
Since they couldn't get in the traditional way, they had to run up and hop into the driver's seat. Ryder had a bit more trouble as he had to pry the garage door open manually before he could drive his ATV out. The pups waited for him until they sped ahead, allowing them to continue at their own risk pace.
With Marshall's sirens helping to lead the way to the wind farm, Ryder and his half of the team made their way to get the power back on. Chase's team meanwhile went around Adventure City, checking to see what problems would occur without power.
The most obvious one was traffic jams. One of which the three pups drove up to. Chase knew what to do. "Skye, do you think you can fly me into the middle of the intersection?" Chase requested.
"Sure thing," Skye replied. She lowered a harness from her copter. Just as Chase was about to hook it to himself, Zuma was puzzled.
"You're weally going to clear all that twaffic?" Zuma asked.
Chase barked and showed his flashlight. It blinks red and green like the traffic lights would. Skye lifted him into the middle of the jammed intersection where the police pup used his megaphone.
"Everyone remain calm," he announced, "We will have traffic cleared soon, but you all have to follow orders." With a bark, Chase faced one direction and had his light turn green.
The traffic he was facing slowly started to move until he changed his light to red. It was now clear for him to land on the ground so Skye wouldn't have to hover in place. Chase turned to face the other vehicles, changed his light to green, and repeated the process.
Zuma and Skye watched as they could see traffic starting to clear up. "Alright Chase," Skye cheered.
"Skye, Zuma, keep looking around the city for any problems that need our attention," Chase reminded.
"Got it, dude!" Zuma responded. The two pups headed off as Chase stated to help keep traffic clear.
(Scene change: Marshall's badge)
At the wind farm, Ryder and the pups arrived and saw the damaged turbines lying on the ground. "Wow, I didn't know it could get this bad," Marshall admitted.
"This could've been much worse," Ryder commented. "All of them are still standing. We just need to fix those turbines though." They got out of their vehicles and walked over to the blades that were bent and broken on the ground.
"I think some of these can be salvaged," Rocky guessed. He looked at some of the cracks on the turbine blades before he went back to the back of his truck, after digging out a couple of items he found a couple of empty cans.
"What are you going to do with those?" Rubble asked.
"These blades and cans are made of the same material, so I can use these cans as patches." Rocky got his tools so he could cut up pieces of the cans, removing the tops and bottoms, so he could unroll the middle parts to make aluminum patches.
"Anything I can help with Ryder?" Marshall asked.
"We'll call for you later," Ryder responded, "Until then, see if there are any emergencies that require our attention without electricity." Marshall nodded before he drove away to help Chase's team.
"How about these turbines over here?" Rubble called. Ryder walked over to the blade that the construction pup was looking at was bent into an L-shape.
"Hmm, this one might be beyond repair. Rocky, what do you think of it?" The mixed breed placed down a half-cut can and looked at the broken blade.
"If you can push this back into place, I think I could be able to weld it back together," Rocky guessed.
"Lucky that I brought my rig," Rubble chuckled. He hopped back into the driver's seat and started moving his digger to help move the big blade into the proper place.
While they did that, Marshall drove back into the city. Aside from his sirens, the city was deafly quiet. All of the buildings were pretty dim without any lights. He decided to check in on the rest of the team. "This is Marshall, how are the rest of you doing?" he asked, speaking into his pup tag.
"This is Chase, I'm helping to clear up traffic," the police pup announced.
"Zuma here, I'm helping some boat people get to the docks safely," Zuma responded. A loud boat horn was heard on his end. "Should be finished soon!"
"Skye reporting, I think I can see someone needing help," the aviator answered. She could see a man waving a lantern, trying to flag her down. She could see Marshall's fire truck, which was close by. "Marshall, if you turn left, you should be able to reach that man in about three blocks."
"On my way!" Marshall cried. He stepped on the gas and took a sharp left. Driving for a little bit, he found the man with the lantern waving to him. Marshall thought he looked familiar as he parked his firetruck. "Aren't you that man who was at the power plant?"
"Yes, call me, Mr. Hunter," he responded, "There are people stuck in the elevator. We can't get the doors open."
"Which floor are they on?" Mr. Hunter led the fire pup inside and up the dark stairs up to where the elevator had stopped. Marshall was happy to have a flashlight strapped to his helmet so he could see in the dark.
Once he got to the elevator doors, Marshall used his jaws of life to pry the door open. Thankfully the elevator was only slightly out of alignment, so it would be easier for the people stuck inside to get out. "Oh thank you," a woman said to Marshall.
"Happy to help," Marshall responded. He turned back to Mr. Hunter. "Sir, are there any more emergencies I should know about?"
"The elevators seem to be the only issues I can find."
Marshall sniffed the air a bit. "I don't smell any gas, so there shouldn't be any leaks either."
"I think we found a problem," Skye called from the pup-tag, "There looks to be a trailer stuck on the railroad crossing."
"I'm just finishing up clearing traffic here," Chase informed, "I'll meet you there."
"I'm on my way!" Zuma proclaimed.
"Same here," Marshall added. He quickly ran to his truck and drove away to the railroad crossing.
He and Zuma showed up to see there was a truck and its trailer stuck on the crossing. It looked like the trailer had taken the turn too tight and now it rolled off the crossing with the wheels in between the rails.
The truck driver looked to be Farmer Al, who seemed to be embarrassed that he got into this mess. "Hey, pups," he called for the truck cab, "Sorry about this mess."
"Al, can you get out of the truck?" Marshall asked. The farmer opened his door and stepped out like nothing was wrong. "Just stand back in case a train comes through. Skye, do you see any trains?"
"Not quite," the cockapoo replied, "I'll go and check to see if there are any this way."
Marshall watched Skye fly away above the tracks, then he looked to Zuma. "Try driving in the opposite direction," Marshall suggested, "We can't take any risks without power."
"On it, dude!" Zuma called. He quickly sped off beside the tracks just as Chase drove up.
"I see you've already checked for trains," the police pup commented.
"Yep and Al is safely out of his truck," Marshall added. "All we need to do is get the trailer off the tracks."
"Then let's make it quick. Ruff! Winch!" Chase made his winch attachment extend out of the front of his car, which Marshall then hooked the bone-shaped hook onto Al's stuck trailer. Once it was unhitched from the truck, Chase pulled the trailer off of the tracks.
"Okay, Al, if you can move your truck, everything should be good," Marshall proclaimed. Al gave a thumbs up before getting back into his truck and backed up to his trailer to reconnect with it.
"Don't have to worry about a train guys," Skye informed, "I can see the railyard and no trains seem to be moving, it's probably because of the blackout."
"The whole city is grinding to a halt," Chase muttered. He quickly changed the call on his pup tag. "Ryder, how's it going at the wind farm?"
"Making good progress fixing the turbines," Ryder responded.
At the wind farm, Rocky and Rubble checked the blades they had welded together. "Seems like they're sturdy," Rocky commented, "Now we just need to get up there."
They looked up at how high the blades would be located. "We're definitely going to need Marshall," Rubble commented.
"Calling him back right now," Ryder informed. He tapped on the fire pup's badge and gave him the message. After a little while, the Dalmatian arrived and positioned his truck in front of the windmill. Once he started extending his ladder up the top, Rocky climbed up it with Rubble raising the blades up with his crane to be bolted in place.
One by one, the blades were fitted back into place. It took a while, but the pups were able to fix the windmills. The blades began to spin again, getting enough power for the city so the lights and appliances could function. The city would come back to life, much to the delight of the pups.
"Ryder, we did it again," Chase said through the pup-pad.
"Great job, pups!" Ryder called, "Now I think it's time we talk to the mayor about this power problem."
(Scene change: PAW Patrol badge)
Ryder and the pups met up with Mayor Goodway at city hall. "I think I know why you're here," she said.
"The bad vote?" Skye whispered to Rocky.
"We all saw what happened with the wind farm," Ryder stated, "If another failure like this happens again, who knows how long the city will be without power."
"We got lucky this time," Rubble noted, "The power could've been out for days."
"I had to rescue some people trapped in an elevator," Marshall informed, "Who knows if others could get into a worse situation, like a car accident. I should know, I was almost in one when the traffic lights stopped."
"We need to have the nuclear power plant back," Chase stated, "We can't risk another power issue."
"I couldn't agree more," Mayor Goodway said, "I thought that the wind farm could keep us going until the end of the week. Seems I overestimated it."
"How many windmills would we need to match the nuclear powew plant?" Zuma asked.
Ryder pulled out his pup pad to check real quick. "Seems like it would take over eight hundred windmills just to match the one power plant," he explained.
The pups gasped at this. "Where would we even build them?" Rubble questioned.
"Or even get the resources?" Rocky added.
"Those questions won't be necessary," Mayor Goodway proclaimed. "We're going to have that power plant switched back on, whether the protestors like it or not."
"If this doesn't show them why we need it, nothing will," Chase proclaimed.
The next day, people were returning to work at the nuclear power plant. While they were upset their vacation was over, they were happy to know their jobs were safe. Mr. Hunter could see Rubble had stopped.
"Hey, Rubble," Mr. Hunter said, "What brings you here?"
"I was checking to make sure the plant was still safe," the bulldog replied. "I checked the tracks and storage room, and both of them look to be in great order. Plus some other workers checked the reactors too, and everything is great."
"That's good to hear. By the way, look what I saw before I left home." Mr. Hunter showed Rubble a picture on his phone. It looked like a couple of signs they saw from the protestors that were thrown into the trash. "Don't know what they're complaining about, they got what they wanted."
"True, but they need to have something to go with it to work. Oh well, hope you have a good day at work, sir." Rubble hopped back into his rig and waved to the man as he drove away back to the lookout. He looked happy as the city would remain powered up.
