Note: Jade uses both he/she pronouns

"GET HIM PENNY!"

Jade flinches at the voice, but it isn't directed at him.

It's directed at the random teenager they'd found.

She had never really understood what they were doing here, but what other choice did she have?

It's not like he could just…leave whenever he wanted to!

Heat shot up his back from the flames that were suddenly behind him.

…Actually, maybe he could just…get the hell out of there.

Jade ignores the teenager jumping out the window and just starts running. She's sure that she can just make it to the exit that she knew was around here.

God damn it, it's fucking bright in here.

Why did Penny have to throw flammable objects at a fucking lighter!?

Jesus Christ, was she that fucking stupid?!

Jade jumped through an open window, refusing to look back. He had to make it to the city, it was the best place to go.

Where else could he go?

Jade's been walking for a while. She doesn't know how long, but it's been a while.

All he knows is that he's made it to the city. The sun is starting to set, and the streets are starting to empty.

Odd. He was sure there was a festival or something going on around this time…

She wanders around, trying to find some type of abandoned house to sleep in.

Easier said than done.

Her wandering takes her to a small suburb, a village, one would put it.

It's a really nice place, he thinks. The perfect place for a family.

Another stick figure runs past, and he ducks,

It's the kid Penny was trying to kill.

What was he-

"DAD!"

Jade flinches, her curiosity getting the better of her. She silently walked behind him, making sure he didn't see her.

She watched him anxiously wander around the house, calling out for someone.

Another stick is walking on the opposite side, a light blue colored stick.

His eyes narrow, watching her intently as she crosses the street, silently walking up the steps of the house. He watches through the remains as the two wander around.

It becomes evidently clear she's not here to give condolences, judging by what follows.

"D-Dad...I'm so sorry...this is all my fault..."

"Shhh...let it out, sunshine."

"L-Luna..."

"Oh, Purple...you don't deserve anything that you've gone through. You poor ray of sunshine."

"Don't fucking call me that. You don't get to-"

"And he did?" Luna gestures around the room. "Sweetheart, he never cared about you. Why would he?"

Purple snarled. "You don't get to say that about him. He loved me more than the entire fucking family ever did!"

"Oh, Purple, baby..." Her voice is gentle. "Open your eyes. He left you to nearly die in The Void. Never even lifting a finger to rescue you. You don't deserve him. Come with me. It's not like you have anywhere else to go."

Jade winces at her tone of voice. Gentle, sweet, loving, totally not masking ill intentions.

…She was totally masking ill intentions.

Jade watches Purple contemplate a few options before taking her hand and following her out.

She facepalms. Of all the stupid things you could do-

Something crosses her mind.

There was no chance his father was dead…was there?

Making sure the two had left, Jade hoisted himself up and through the window. Years of having an interest in true crime had allowed him to know if there was a corpse nearby.

Although, he would've probably been able to smell it by now. The distinct, nauseating smell of rotting meat would've been noticeable by now. But no.

The only thing she can smell is typical scents from a fire. Chemicals, the smell of burning wood, the like.

Nothing that would give away the smell of a burning corpse.

And a further search proved that there were no signs of a body anywhere.

She'd been lying, and Purple fell for it…

…Or had he?

He knew that Purple was clearly a smart person, despite not knowing much about him. But he knew that he was a smart kid.

There was no way in hell he was going to believe that his father was dead. Not without proof.

So that left only one other option: His father was alive.

But where?

She'd have to figure that out…knowing the obvious signs that the two were in contact with an organization that had been doing more good instead of evil once upon a time.

Looks like she was going to Rocket Corp.
