Dark was bored as hell.
The Color Gang hadn't shown up in a while, and Chosen was far more worried about Victim to really pay a lot of attention.
So here they were. Bored as hell, laying on the couch, waiting for some type of development with Victim.
That hadn't come yet. And Victim had promised something.
God damn it, where was he?!
"Ughhh, hurry upppppp!" Dark groaned, wincing as Chosen pulled on his hair.
"Hold still!" Chosen giggled, pulling him back down. He'd been attempting to braid the younger hollowheads hair for a while now, but his continuous efforts to move away had made it extremely difficult.
"Come on! You wanted the braided hair, now hold still!"
"But it hurrrttttssss!"
"It would hurt less if you held still!"
Dark stuck his tongue out at him. At least, tried to. "I hate you." He pouted
"Love you too, little brother."
Dark sighed, fiddling with his fingers until Chosen finally let go of his hair. "Ta-da!"
"Finally!" He groaned, standing from the couch, his legs nearly buckling from sitting too long. "Ow."
"Maybe sit comfier, and you won't have that problem, you workaholic."
"Sorry, do you want your baby brother to suddenly explode into pixels when he's traveling here! How would you explain that to Alan?!"
"Okay, okay, I get it! But still, sit comfier. Put a pillow on your chair or something."
"I'd rather die."
"Do it."
"Fineeeeeeee."
Dark wandered into his lab, glancing at the portal opening. They still hadn't visited.
Although Dark was silently grateful for that. Green would commit numerous crimes if he ever learned Purple was-
…Maybe let's not think about that now.
Dark teared his eyes away, shutting the door and wandering into the two's shared bedroom across the hall. There, he collapsed into his bed and fell asleep.
"Dark! Dark, wake up!"
Chosen's frantic voice shook Dark from blissful dreaming. Rubbing at his tired eyes, he glanced up at the hollowhead, almost thinking he wasn't there with how well he blended in with the room's darkness.
"Wut's happenin'?"
"Rocket Corp's been attacked! Victim's still inside, and there's a Purple doppelganger kidnapping everyone!"
Blinking in confusion, Dark stared at his brother. "The city's seen way worse, but what the fuck? A Purple doppelganger? How would someone do that?! Do they just….prick out his hex code or something?"
"I would think so. Any other shade of purple would alert everyone immediately that it was an imposter, given how unique of a shade his is."
"It isn't that unique. It's the closest thing you can get to a plum shade of purple."
"Whatever, now let's go! We have a brother to rescue!"
Dark reluctantly dragged himself out of bed, letting Chosen pull them out of the house as the two flew up into the sky. Dark's was still a little wobbly from being half-awake, but the two made it the short distance away to the company headquarters.
The two ducked into nearby bushes, watching the front gates with intent. Nobody came in and out, which made sense. It was the middle of the night, after all.
But something else seemed odd.
The oddly small-sized trio wandered around the front of the base. They were almost the height of Purple, and maybe even the same age as him, if not older.
"Who are those three?" Dark asked, pointing to the trio.
"Not sure, but they're probably important. How quiet can you get flying upwards?"
"I'll see what I can do."
Dark flew upwards, blinking in surprise at how quiet he actually was, and flew up towards the roof.
Giving Chosen the all-clear, he kicked a vent inwards and jump down, crawling in from memory of breaking in months earlier and making his way into the rafters above the main room.
The two jumped down, silently peeking down towards the front. Another trio was walking around, one that seemed oddly familiar to him. He just didn't know why.
He thought he had seen them before.
"Don't those three look familiar to you?" He asked Chosen, pointing down towards them.
"A little bit…I just don't know where…" Something dawned on him. "Remember that whole inter-dimensional adventure Vic told us about?"
"The what?"
"I-It was a couple days after the Silver incident," Chosen recalled. "Purple ended up in another dimension and fought those giant fleshy monsters from Luna's attack. From what I heard, those three were responsible for that entire ordeal. They also work under Luna."
"Why would they be here? I thought Luna escaped and went into hiding after she tried killing Purple?" Dark asked.
"I thought so too, and she might still be in hiding, or she died, I don't know. But those bastards got away scot-free."
"You think she's the one who orchestrated Purple's murder?" Dark asked.
"Purple's what?!"
"It's possible! Sure, he's been through enough to fill a novel or ten, but we all know he wouldn't stoop to suicide. He wouldn't do that to us."
"That's fair, but why would she want to murder him?"
"We did watch her brother, who I can tell she was close to, get mercilessly impaled. And he was trying to save Purple."
"That's hardly a reason."
"Silver?"
"Also hardly a reason. His entire family is built off their dumb morals and revenge. They're going down the same path King did, just without the teenager with a tragic backstory entering their lives and saving their ass, dying in the process, and then fighting a literal God from a game."
"...Huh?"
"I'm referring to how Purple saved everyone from King's rampage, died in the process, and then fought Herobrine."
"Oh."
"That was the whole Day of Surrection incident! You were there for it!"
"Oh yeah…moving forward, what do they have to do with the attack and Victim's disappearance?"
"Good question. And how does the Purple doppelganger fit into this?" Chosen asked. The duo watched the three sticks for a while before they separated, walking out of the room. Chosen suddenly jumped downwards, noticing a lever.
"Cho, what the hell are you doing?!" Dark flew down after him.
"Maybe this will give us answers." Chosen said, pulling it full force.
The floor gave out from under Dark, and he fell.
"Ow…."
"Dark! Dark, wake up!"
Dark groaned, his head pounding. "What the fuck…."
"Dark! Thank goodness! Chosen didn't kill you."
"I didn't know the whole fucking floor was going to collapse!"
"Seems you kept Luna's trap."
King?!
"Well, we can't exactly fix it for now, so we tend to leave it alone. We have no use for it."
"What's….what's going on…?"
"A lot of things, One of them being a sick joke about making us think Purple's turned against us."
"Wow. How rude."
"That was the doppelganger I was telling you about." Victim said.
"Turned against us?" Chosen asked. "I thought you said that-"
"Well, he was dead…for all of two seconds," Victim said. "Still alive, about eighty miles out of town. I would've told you this sooner, see if you could fly out and rescue him, but Hunter lost contact with him as quickly as she got it."
"Is he still alive?"
"His vitals still show survival," Agent said, pulling up a map on his bracelet. "Seems he got out of a burning building, and decided to make the trek back here on foot."
"Moron." Dark grumbled.
"It's a day's walk from here, and he's made good enough progress," Agent quipped back. "And aside from what I can assume is a concussion, he's unharmed."
Chosen perked up. "Damn…that's impressive."
"Seems King raised him right." Dark quipped, shooting the parent a smirk. King smiled back at him.
"Turning our attention back to our current situation," Hunter said. "We should focus on finding a way out."
"Which is going to be difficult, I presume." Chosen said.
"Not really," Victim said. "Agent and the others ended up down here for a bit when Luna began the attack just before I got King and Purple involved," He explained. "So long as they remember the way, we should be able to escape just fine."
"Good. But there's one thing that bothers me." Dark said.
"What is it?"
"What are Luna's lackeys doing here, where is Luna herself, and does she have something to do with Purple's circumstances?"
