Kanto Gets Loud
Chapter 83: The Punchy Pokemon!
Later that evening, at the Pokemon Center,
After doing some shopping for some Pokemon Care products on Scissor Street, Lincoln and friends were back at the Pokemon Center, enjoying a nice dinner, "So, you both find some stuff you want to try with your Pokemon?" Lincoln asked, as he enjoyed his dinner of curry.
"And how! There was a ton of moisturizing lotion on sale that's perfect for Water Pokemon!" Misty replied, having a bowl of ramen.
"And I managed to find a store that caters to all types of Pokemon, including Dragon Types. So naturally, I found some products that would be perfect for Shelgon," Brock added, eating a plate of fried rice.
"So, what about you, Lincoln? Did you find anything of interest?" Misty asked. Lincoln seemed a bit tense for a moment.
"Well, I did find quite a few products for each type of Pokemon I have, but that wasn't until after I had a chance meeting," Lincoln replied. His friends looked at him curiously.
"What sort of a chance meeting?" Brock asked. Lincoln then explained how he met Nana's friends, and that he got engaged to them. He was reluctant to tell them about exactly how he got them to take him as a fiancé, but his friends respected his privacy.
"Whoa, I always heard of the possibility of life on Mars, but I never knew there'd be actual Martians!" Misty quietly said.
"That was my initial reaction," Lincoln replied.
"I can't help but be so jealous! The fact that you're always getting the attention and affection of girls of all shapes, sizes, and species!" Brock exclaimed, clenching his fist.
"But what about those waitresses back in Celadon?" Misty asked.
"Yeah, things… uh… didn't quite work out," Brock replied sheepishly.
"Right. We'll, I think I'm going to give my family a call first thing in the morning. Hopefully I'll be able to catch them before they go to bed," Lincoln said.
"Sounds like a plan," Misty replied, as they continued their dinner. When they were finished, they were getting ready to head back to their room for the night, when…
"Excuse me, Lincoln?" the older Nurse Joy said.
"Yes? Something I can do for you, Nurse Joy?" Lincoln asked.
"I received a message from Professor Oak. He's requested that you call him right away," Lincoln was surprised to hear this. What could the professor want? With a shrug, he went over to the video phones, and dialed the Professor's number. The phone rang for a few seconds, before the Professor's face appeared on screen.
"Hey Professor! How've things been?" Lincoln asked.
"Things have been quite lively since your Aerodactyl and Tyrunt came over. Tell me, were you able to restore them both from fossils from the Grampa Canyon dig?" Professor Oak asked.
"Well, Tyrunt, Amaura, and Cranidos were all restored from fossils, yes. But Aerodactyl was a living Pokemon when I caught it," Lincoln replied. He explained what had happened during the fossil rush.
"My, my, I knew that most movie companies would make movies that feature prehistoric dinosaurs living deep underneath the surface of the Earth, but I never would've imagined that it would be a fact in this case!" Professor Oak exclaimed.
"Yeah, that was my and the other's reaction as well. So, why did you want me to call you up?" Lincoln asked.
"Ah yes! You see, there's a new update for the Pokedex. This update will tell exactly WHERE the Pokemon being scanned was first discovered. For instance, Pikachu was first found in the Kanto Region, while Heracross was originally discovered in Johto," Professor Oak explained.
"Oh, that definitely would be a plus to have! Plus, I'm sure my family would love this update as well," Lincoln replied.
"You have been keeping in touch with them, yes?" Professor Oak asked.
"Yes, I have. I was planning on calling them in the morning, so they wouldn't be running late for school or work," Lincoln replied.
"Hmm, understandable. Well, if you'll just insert your Pokedex into the slot below, I'll go ahead and install it," Lincoln did as the Professor requested. A screen came up saying "Downloading Update." It only took a few seconds before his Pokedex was given back, "And done! Your Pokedex has now been updated!"
"Sweet! This will definitely come in handy!" Lincoln exclaimed.
"Gary and the others seem to think so too. I already updated each of their Pokedexes, and they've been giving rave reviews on it," Professor Oak replied.
"Well, I'll just have to see how I like this update myself," Lincoln replied.
"Indeed. So, where are you now?"
"I'm in Hophophop Town. We're staying here long enough for the next P-1 Grand Prix. I'm hoping that it'll help Primeape to trust me some more. Speaking of, how's it doing?"
"I'm going to be honest with you, Lincoln; Your Primeape is quite the lively Pokemon, even among those of its own species. It's so much so that we've been needing to keep it in it's Pokeball."
"Well, maybe taking on other Fighting Type Pokemon will help it to blow off some steam."
"Yes, well, here's to hoping."
"Right. Well, if that's all you needed me for, I'll call again once we've made it to Fuchsia City."
"That'll do nicely. I look forward to hearing about more of your adventures for the next progress report," and with that, the call cut out.
"Selena was one troublesome Pokemon on her own, but hopefully Primeape will be more obliging," Lincoln commented, as he went to go to bed.
The Next Morning,
It was the big day of the P-1 Grand Prix, and Lincoln was ready to go, in the hopes that it'll help Primeape open up to him and start being a team player, "But before anything else, I've got to go call my family," he said, making his way over to the video phones. He dialed his phone number into one of the phones. It rang for a few seconds, before the screen finally turned on, revealing his family, sans Lori and Lynn, all in their pajamas, "Hey guys!"
"Hey bro! We've been wondering when you'd call," Luna greeted.
"How've you been, sweetie?" Rita asked.
"I've been doing great, Mom! How are things back home?" Lincoln asked.
"Well, a lot has been changing since you and Leni came back to choose your bedrooms," Rita replied.
"Oh yeah? What's been happening?"
"Well, for starters, Uncle Lance and Aunt Sharon, as well as our cousins have moved out here to start a new fitness center," Lola piped up.
"No way, really?! That's big news!" Lincoln exclaimed happily.
"That was our initial thoughts. And not only that, they, along with some new friends of our Maternal Unit, have become a host family to some residents from the Monster Realm," Lisa added.
"Oh yeah? What monsters are they hosting?"
"Well, funny you should ask that, sweetie. Three of them happen to know you very well with what you did for them and several others," Rita replied.
"Really? Could these monsters be some of the Princesses that inhabit that Monster Realm?" Lincoln asked. This question seemed to stun his family.
"Wait, you're saying Emily, as well as Glitz and Glam, are all princesses?! Like real princesses?!" Luan exclaimed.
"Wait, so Emily and the twins are Exchange Students?" Lincoln asked.
"Yes. Ah, that's right! They must've been some of the girls you said you helped free from that Valentino guy's control!" Rita exclaimed.
"Yes, that's right. How've they been doing?" Lincoln asked.
"Well, Emily, along with Glitz and Glam seem to be adjusting to Royal Woods quite nicely, thanks to their host families. Speaking of which, Lance and Sharon aren't just hosting Emily; They're also a dragon by the name of Mr. D-Ragon, who also seems to be adjusting nicely," Rita replied.
"Well, that's good to hear. Hopefully, I'll be able to get to talk to them during the weekend, and if we make it to next town in time," Lincoln replied.
"So, what're your plans now?" Luna asked.
"Well, later today there's going to be another P-1 Grand Prix in the town we're in. I'm hoping that'll be the perfect place for Primeape to blow off some steam, and finally open up to me," Lincoln replied.
"Well, based on what you told about it when you caught it, it does sound rather wild and rowdy. Perhaps some exercise and battling will do it some good," Lisa replied.
"That is my hope. So, has anything else happened since the last time I spoke to you?" Lincoln asked. He took note of his sister's somber expressions. Finally, it was Rita who spoke up.
"Well, sweetie, one other thing did happen just the other day, but I doubt you're going to like it."
Now, Lincoln was concerned, "What happened? Is everything alright on your end?"
"Well, to be perfectly blunt with you, Lori and Lynn got an early release from their sentence," Rita explained. Lincoln was shocked to hear this.
"They actually got let out early?!"
"That was our reaction when we heard the news. Apparently, the treatments they got at that horrible place was enough to snap them out of their little fantasy worlds," Luna replied.
"We tried to get them to come and talk to you, but they got cold feet at the last possible second and bailed out. I guess they finally realized that they were wrong to treat you the way they did, and are now too scared to face you," Luan added.
"Hmm, well, I suppose it'd be best NOT to force them to do so. After all, it took each of you a while to try and mend the fences with me, and when you did, it was completely on your own terms," Lincoln replied.
"Precisely. And we're not going to force them before they're ready," Rita added.
"Good on you then. Well, I'd love to chat some more, but I know you're all getting ready for bed, so I'll wrap up this conversation by sending over some of the data I've collected over the past few days. And get this! When I was talking to the Professor last night, he updated my Pokedex so it would tell me exactly WHERE a Pokemon was first discovered!" Lincoln said, inserting his Pokedex and transferring the data.
"Mmm, that would be nice knowledge to have on hand. After all, these Pokemon you've been seeing since starting out are truly fascinating creatures, and learning about their indigenous habitats would greatly help out with my studies on them," Lisa replied, as the data transfer was complete.
"Alrighty then… Oh, and one more thing I forgot to mention," Lincoln said, sounding a bit hesitant.
"Lincoln, did something happen that we should know about?" Rita asked, sounding stern and suspicious of her son's tone.
"W-Well, kind of. You guys remember that Nana girl I told you about, right?" Lincoln asked.
"You mean the alien princess you got engaged to? Yeah, we remember her," Lana replied.
"Yeah, well, yesterday, I met some of her friends, who were princesses from different quadrants of the galaxy, including our own," Lincoln replied.
"Oh, more aliens? What were they like?" Rita asked, sounding curious.
"Well, one of them was a for real Martian, like, from Mars. Another was a newt-like girl, and the third was a cobra-like girl with large, dragon-like wings. They wanted to meet me so they could see what kind of a guy I was to get engaged to Nana," Lincoln explained.
"I always believed there would be Martians on Mars!" Lana exclaimed, sounding pumped that she was right.
"I hope that your meeting with them went smoothly?" Rita asked.
"Well, they said that they did get a good idea on what kind of a guy I was. And some… complicated stuff happened, and they decided to take me as a fiancé as well," Lincoln replied.
"Damn, bro, you are so lucky to have all these girls just swooning over you!" Luna exclaimed, sounding impressed with her brother's prowess with the ladies.
"Yeah, Brock said the same thing to me as well. I just hope things won't blow up in my face," Lincoln sighed.
"Try to take it just one step at a time, sweetie. Remember what they say about Rome being built in a day," Rita replied, trying to reassure her son.
"I'll try. Well, that's all I have to say on my end for now. I'll call again once I'm in Fuchsia City. And once there, if it's the weekend, I'll send over some more of my Pokemon," Lincoln replied.
"Ok, just be careful on your journey sweetie," Rita said.
"I will, Mom. Have a good night. Oh, and tell Lori and Lynn that I'm willing to talk ONLY if they're ready to talk," Lincoln requested. His family looked surprised to hear this, but retained their composure.
"We'll do that, sweetie," Rita replied.
"Ok, thanks. Good night," Lincoln said, as he hung up, "Alright, so that went better than expected!"
Just then, his friends came out into the lobby, "So, how'd your call go?" Misty asked.
"Fairly well. They took the news about my three new engagements rather well," Lincoln replied.
"I'm wondering it they're becoming desensitized to your love life at this point," Brock commented.
"Most likely. And on an unrelated note, they told me that Lori and Lynn got let out early due to being broken by the sanitorium," Lincoln replied. This certainly surprised his friends.
"Did they make some attempt to try to apologize?" Misty asked.
"No. Apparently, they got cold feet when they learned I was calling, and chickened out," Lincoln replied.
"Makes sense. They did put up a pretty big fuss about you, even wishing for you to be dead. They must finally get the picture and are being hit with all kinds of guilt," Brock replied.
"Well, I wasn't going to force them to talk if they weren't ready. So, in any case, we should go and get ready for the Grand Prix later today," Lincoln said.
"Sounds good! And the best way for that is with a nice, hearty breakfast!" Brock said, as they made their way to the restraunt for breakfast.
Elsewhere in the City,
"Sawk, use Brick Break, Gurdurr, Brutal Swing, and Clobbopus, use Reversal!" James said, as he was busily training the Fighting Types he had on hand. Nearby, Jessie and Meowth were watching, though in the former's case, she was completely bored.
"Why go through all this training, James? We can just try the same scheme we did at the last Grand Prix," Jessie said.
"No! After that little fiasco, security will no doubt be extra tight! Which is why we need to try winning this fair and square! Besides, a plan like that can only work so much before things get too complex for us," James retorted.
"Y'know, James has a point. That brat and his friends always beat us since they're always training their Pokemon to make them stronger. All we use your Pokemon for is to help with robberies and get aways. You could stand to train up your Pokemon too, y'know?" Meowth suggested. Jessie took a moment to consider this.
"Hmm, Arbok and the others do try their hardest for me, but their performance in battle could be a bit better. Plus, they can also be trained to be much better in Contests as well," Jessie replied, looking at her Pokeballs.
"Now that's the kind of spirit we need for this team to be successful in crime!" James proclaimed.
"But going back to the P-1 Grand Prix, I saw one of the flyers advertising it. And only one Pokemon is allowed per trainer," Meowth stated.
"Yes, I believe I saw that as well. Hmm, and all three of my Fighting Pokemon are in top condition," James replied, just as a bright light erupted from Clobbopus, "Oh wow, Clobbopus is evolving!"
"Well, that's a surprise," Jessie commented, as Clobbopus grew much larger. When the light died off, Clobbopus had changed into a blue, amphibious, octopus-like Pokemon with a yellow, jagged eye mask like marking. It also appeared to have tentacles wrapped around its abdomen.
"Whoa, that IS some surprise! What did it evolve into?" Meowth asked. James took out his handheld Pokemon Encyclopedia.
"Let's see, it would be a Grapploct, the Jujitsu Pokemon, a Fighting Type. It has a body that's made up of nothing but muscles, which makes it's grappling moves tremendously powerful," he replied, as he looked further into the page, "Ah, it would appear that Gapploct evolves from a Clobbopus that knows the move Taunt!"
"And with a body of nothing but muscles would make it a shoe-in for the Grand Prix champion belt!" Jessie added.
"And how! Alright then, let's do it, Grapploct!" James exclaimed. Grapploct looked raring to go.
In the streets near the P-1 Grand Prix Arena,
As many people were gathering to witness the Club Attack, a brown, humanoid Pokemon with red boxing gloves was jogging towards the arena. As it reached the grounds, it stood off into the grass, out of the way of everyone, and began to throw punch after punch at nothing in particular. From behind a nearby tree, a beautiful teen girl was watching it with worried eyes, "Oh wow, this place looks just as lively as the last tournament we were in!" she saw Lincoln and company walking onto the grounds. It was then that Misty noticed the boxer Pokemon.
"Hey, is that a wild Hitmonchan?" she questioned, catching her companion's attention.
"Probably. It might've come here sensing a big Fighting event like this," Brock replied.
"So that Pokemon's a Hitmonchan?" Lincoln asked.
"That's right. And it's pretty rare to see a wild one in the city like this," Brock replied, as Lincoln scanned it.
"Hitmonchan, the Punching Pokemon, a Fighting Type first discovered in the Kanto Region. It throws punches at speed of 300 mph. Even the slightest graze from one of its punches can cause burns. After three minutes of fighting, it always takes a break to steady its breath and mood," Dexter explained.
"Oh, I guess it isn't wild then," Misty commented.
"Well, this one seems like a real contender!" the three of them turned to see a familiar face, "Hey dudes!"
"Hey Raigo! How've you been?" Lincoln asked, greeting his friend/rival.
"Doing pretty well. So, how'd your battle at Maiden's Peak go?" Raigo asked. Lincoln whipped out his Badge Case.
"See for yourself!" he said.
"Oh, that's way past cool! But since you're here, I guess that means you decided to skip the Celadon Gym then?" Raigo asked, not seeing the Celadon Badge in Lincoln's Badge Case.
"We couldn't. The official Gym Leader is in Kalos on business, while the substitute was out sick. We're on our way to the gym in Fuchsia City once we're done competing here," Lincoln replied.
"Well, I can tell you this much, you're definitely going to be put to the test at that Gym. I would tell you, but finding out for yourself about the Gym's Test of Character is something you really should do for yourself," Raigo replied.
"So, how did your Gym Battle on Seafoam Island go?" Misty asked.
"That's right! The last time we saw each other was in Porta Vista, where we went off to challenge different gyms," Lincoln said.
"Well, just see for yourself!" Raigo said, flashing his Badge Case, which now had a badge resembling a frost covered ice pick, "Getting this Frost Badge was no easy task for me, but it was worth it in the end!"
"Since you're here, I assume you're entering the P-1 Grand Prix too?" Brock asked.
"Makes sense. Both Shroomer and Honda are the only Fighting Type Pokemon we know you have," Lincoln replied.
"Well, let's just say that my team's been doing some evolving since the last time we were together! Here's the Pokemon I'm entering with!" Raigo said, tossing a Pokeball into the air, which released a tall, green and white Pokemon that looked an awful lot like a Gardevoir, only it had two thick legs, and appeared to have bladelike arms. It also had a big crest on the top of its head, "As you can see, my Ralts, Galahad, has managed to evolve all the way into the Gallade you see before you!"
"Wait, it evolved from your Ralts? I thought Ralts' final evolved form was a Gardevoir?" Lincoln asked, as he scanned the new Pokemon.
"Gallade, the Blade Pokemon, a Psychic and Fighting Type first discovered in the Sinnoh Region. A master of courtesy and swordsmanship, it fights using the extending swords on its elbows. Because it can sense what its foes are thinking, its attacks burst out first, fast, and fierce. Gallade is the evolved form of a Male Kirlia when exposed to a Dawn Stone," Dexter explained.
"Oh, I get it! While female Ralts can only fully evolve into Gardevoir, male Ralts can either wind up becoming either Gardevoir or Gallade!" Lincoln said.
"That's right. It took a while to nab a Dawn Stone, but it was worth it! In fact, I even found another one here a while back! Since I know you have a female Snorunt, Misty, you should use the Dawn Stone on it to evolve it into a Froslass," Raigo said, handing Misty a teal-colored stone.
"So, that's what you used to evolve your Kirlia?" Lincoln asked, looking at the stone.
"Makes sense. Male Kirlia and female Snorunt are the only Pokemon that evolve using a Dawn Stone. Of course, Misty can choose NOT to use it and instead raise Snorunt into a Glalie," Brock stated.
"Hmm, I'd probably want to see both of them so that I can consider my options a bit more," Misty commented.
"Dexter, could you give us information on Snorunt's evolved forms?" Lincoln asked.
"Certainly; Glalie, the Face Pokemon, an Ice Type. It has a body of ice that won't melt, even with fire. It can instantly freeze moisture in the atmosphere.
Froslass, the Snow Land Pokemon, an Ice and Ghost Type. It breathes out air of nearly -60 degrees Fahrenheit to freeze its quarry. It brings frozen prey back to its lair and neatly lines them up," Dexter explained, displaying images of a rock like Pokemon covered in ice with two large, black horns and a menacing look on its face, and a Pokemon that could easily be described as a Yuki-Onna.
"Hmm, both of them seem to be able to freeze things instantly, but I think Froslass is the cuter one. Plus, it would be nice to raise a Ghost Type Pokemon," Misty commented.
"Then how about we give it a go after the tournament?" Lincoln suggested.
"Ah, that's right! We need to go get registered!" Raigo exclaimed.
"So, here you are, Hitmonchan!" the four of them saw a tall, muscular man in a white t-shirt and jeans walking up to the Hitmonchan from before, "Good, good, keep up that guard, and we'll be sure to win the Champion Belt and that year's supply of vitamin drinks!" he said, his voice carrying a Brooklyn accent.
"Yes sir, coach!" Hitmonchan replied.
"Good, now lets…" the man was stopped by the girl from behind the tree.
"Daddy, enough is enough already! Please, stop Pokemon Training long enough to come home for your anniversary trip!" the girl pleaded.
"I already told ya, Rebecca, it's my dream to win the P-1 Grand Prix, and the Club Attack is the best way to make that dream a reality! And I ain't comin' home until that does happen! I want to show your mother that I know what I'm doing with Pokemon training!" the man replied.
"Daddy!" the girl, now known as Rebecca, pleaded insistently.
"My decision is final! Besides, you know that you and your mother are my topmost priority, right? Well, if I can show these guys that my Fighting Spirit Gym is Grade A, then I'll be able to support you both a lot better! Now, c'mon, Hitmonchan!" the man said, as he and his Hitmonchan rushed to the entry desk.
"Oh well," the girl sighed, having failed to convince her father.
"Hey there, pretty lady! You seem a bit down! Is there anything we can do to help out?" Brock asked, trying to impress the girl.
"Oh, well, if any of you are entering this Club Attack competition, then I do have one request," Rebecca replied.
"We'll help out anyway we can," Lincoln replied, with Raigo nodding.
"Could you please defeat my father's Hitmonchan?" Rebecca pleaded, surprising the four trainers.
"Wait, you WANT us to defeat your father in the Club Attack?" Raigo asked, trying to get the facts straight.
"Yes. You see, my parent's anniversary is coming up, and we're going to the Paldea Region for a vacation. However, my father's been preoccupied with training up his Hitmonchan, which is causing him to neglect both me and my mother," Rebecca explained.
"I get it! If we defeat your father's Hitmonchan, then he'll have no other choice than to go back home with you," Lincoln said, getting what Rebecca wanted.
"Yes that's right. Won't you please help me out with this?" Rebecca pleaded.
"Say no more, Rebecca. We'll gladly help out," Raigo replied.
"But in order to help out, you'll both need to go register," Brock pointed out.
"Ack, that's right! There might still be enough time if we hustle, Lincoln!" Raigo said, as he and Lincoln ran off to register.
"Guess we'd better go find some good seats in the audience," Misty suggested, as the three of them went to go get some seats.
Meanwhile, in Royal Woods, Chandler's room,
Chandler was carefully going over his notes of Lucy's daily school routine. He had hired some younger kids with tailing and finding out about Lucy's routine in candy. A big blow to his allowance money and getting him an extended grounding for going out without permission, but to him, it was all worth it to get this information, even if it wasn't entirely complete, "I just need a few more bits of information and I'll have everything I need to get that spooky little witch and break this curse!" he cackled maliciously.
"CHANDLER, WHAT HAVE I SAID ABOUT TALKING DURING YOUR GROUNDING?! YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE THINKING ABOUT YOUR ACTIONS!" his mother yelled, causing him to flinch.
"S-Sorry, Mom!" Chandler feebly called back.
"YOU'D BETTER BE! JUST LIKE HOW YOU'D BETTER BE FIGURING OUT HOW TO APOLOGIZE TO THOSE KIDS YOU'VE ALWAYS BULLIED!" his mother yelled. Chandler could only sneer, as he continued to formulate his plan.
"I need to be able to sneak away from school undetected and beat feet over to the Elementary School quick enough to catch her. Question is, how?" he wondered. It was clear from anyone's perspective that Chandler hadn't learned his lesson on being a better person, and was going to go through with his plan no matter what it takes.
Meanwhile, at the Royal Woods State Prison,
Lynn Sr. was busily helping the kitchen staff with washing the dishes. He had been at this since dinner time, and it was almost 9. He looked at the mountains of dirty dishes remaining, and sighed, "You'd think there'd be some other inmates in here helping out," he commented to no one in particular.
"Suck it up, Loud! You're not going back to your cell until everything here is clean!" the head of the kitchen staff barked, causing the disgraced ex-father to get back to cleaning. His hands were numb and wrinkly from all the water he had been in contact with, and that was even with gloves.
'Hopefully this won't be a permanent thing while I'm here,' he thought to himself, as a bitter look of resentment etched itself onto his face, 'I wouldn't be in this mess if Lincoln had just come to all of his sister's event like he was supposed to! After all, the rest of us wanted time off, but we all knew that family takes priority over personal desires! And thanks to Junior, he had to become the biggest liar in the world!'
"Will you shut up already?! I'm so sick of hearing about your dumb vendetta against your son! And it's something that you shouldn't even have against him to begin with!" his phantasm irritably snapped, as he materialized.
'Oh, so you're back to try and convince me I was wrong about what we did to that failure of an ex-son of mine? He wouldn't have gotten into that mess if he had just sucked it up and came to his sister's events like he was supposed to, even in spite of Junior's protests!' Lynn Sr. shot back.
"And what if your daughter did something drastic to keep him from coming? Remember, Junior is a lot stronger than Lincoln and most of their other sisters are, and a lot more temperamental and overreactive. One wrong move, and she would've caused damage that wouldn't be easy to repair in the best case, or not at all in the worst," the phantasm replied.
'Name one thing that Junior could've done to Lincoln that wouldn't be able to be repaired easily,' Lynn Sr. dared.
"Well, in the best-case scenario, she could've damaged one of her vertebrae, causing him to become paraplegic! And in the worst-case scenario, she might've accidentally snapped his neck, effectively killing him! I mean, she and that one sister of hers wanted him dead on that cruise ship for completely asinine reasons, and were upset when they learned he survived! Seriously, what kind of bad parenting would they have had to have received for them to turn out as such overly egotistical sociopaths?!" the phantasm questioned. This turned out to be the final straw for Lynn Sr.
"I'll have you know that I was a great father to my kids! Sure, they mess up at times, but come on, who hasn't?! But with how many mistakes Lincoln made in his lifetime, it's a wonder that our house was even still standing! After all, he did make things worse with the Sister Fight Protocol, as well as causing this whole mess with Junior's superstitions! It was all Lincoln's fault, his, as well as Junior and Lucy! I shouldn't even be blamed for one instance of their petty mistakes!" Lynn Sr. ranted, as he hurled a plate at the phantasm, only for it to phase through it, and smack one of the kitchen staff in the gut.
"LOUD!" one of the prison guards yelled, storming up to him, "I don't care if you hate being in prison for something that definitely warrants your sentence, but we do NOT throw little hissy fits or plates at the prison staff!" Lynn Sr. tried to retort, but remembered that no one but him could see his phantasm.
"Sorry, it won't happen again," he said dejectedly.
"It had better not! Now, get this mess cleaned up, or it's time in the hole for you!" the guard barked, as the disgraced father got back to work, cleaning up the mess he unintentionally made.
Back at the P-1 Grand Prix,
"We're coming to you live from Hophophop Town, for the P-1 Grand Prix Club Attack! The rules are simple! Each trainer enters with one Pokemon, and whoever comes out on top will not only receive the Champion Belt, but will also receive a year's supply of Nutritious Pokemon Vitamin Drinks, so that you can power up your Pokemon even further! My name is Teddy the Scoop, here to give you all the play-by-play! And joining me as a co-commentator is the head of the Hophophop Town Battle Club, Don George!" Teddy announced, as he stood in the center ring along with Don George.
"To all of our participating Trainers, welcome to this event! I expect to see nothing by the absolute best as you all vie for that Number 1 spot!" Don George announced.
"And now, let's introduce some of our competitors! First is the top contender for the Number 1 spot, it's Anthony and his Hitmonchan!" Teddy said, as Anthony and Hitmonchan entered the arena, "And not to be outdone, we have Hitmonlee, along with its trainer, Giant!" just then, another, rather odd looking brown humanoid Pokemon with springy looking legs entered, accompanied by a massive man in a trench coat.
"And I see some familiar faces to the P-1 Circuit, such as Willa from Geosenge Town, and Lincoln Loud, all the way from Royal Woods Michigan!" Don George announced, as both aforementioned trainers entered the arena themselves, "And making their debuts in the P-1 Circuit, we have Raigo from Lavaridge Town in the Hoenn Region, and… a trainer simply known as 'Jay'. Let's make them feel welcome!" he announced, as both trainers, including a disguised James entered. As trainers continued to be introduced, up in the stands, Misty, Brock, and Rebecca were all sitting, anticipating the event to start.
"Alright, it'll do Lincoln some good if he isn't paired up with your father in the first round, Rebecca. That way, he can formulate a strategy for winning against Hitmonchan," Misty stated.
"I sure hope so! This anniversary is really important," Rebecca said.
"You have no need to fret. Both Lincoln and Raigo are capable trainers. I'm sure one of them will get the job done," Brock replied.
"And now, let's get things started with our first match! Which is pitting Lincoln Loud against Gilbert!" Teddy announced, as both trainers made their way to the battlefield.
"Alright, time to show what we're made of, Machop! Go!" Gilbert said, as he sent out a Machop.
"Alright, as memory serves, Machop has incredible power despite it's size. Hopefully, Primeape's ferocity can win this! Go, Primeape!" Lincoln called, sending out his Primeape, who was stamping its foot on the ground in anger.
"GRRAAAH! HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR SOMEONE TO LET ME OUT OF THAT THING?!" Primeape yelled, clearly irritated from being cooped up inside of its Pokeball for a long time.
"Heh, guess that means you must've not had very good training! This'll be a cakewalk for me!" Machop taunted, acting high and mighty, which now made it the object of Primeape's aggression.
"If what Brock and Misty said is true about Primeape never being trained, then Lincoln's operating at a major disadvantage before the competition even starts," Raigo observed, as Primeape was pounding it's fists together. Just then the bell rang, signaling the start of round.
"Alright Machop, use Focus Energy, then into Close Combat!" Gilbert instructed. Machop glowed bright orange, and charged right at Primeape, and began wailing on it, sending the Pig Monkey Pokemon down. Primeape seemed to get really mad at this, as it glowed bright red.
"Oh wow, that must be Primeape's Anger Point ability!" Brock exclaimed.
"'Anger Point'? What's that?" Misty asked.
"See, when a Pokemon receives a Critical Hit, like what Primeape just did, it's attack power is raised all the way to the maximum," Brock explained, as Primeape charged at Machop, ready to use Thrash, only for Machop to use a Low Sweep, sending Primeape down hard.
"Your Primeape must be a recent catch! It's so untrained! Machop, use Seismic Toss!" Gilbert ordered. Machop grabbed hold of Primeape from behind, and leapt high into the air, before circling back down to the stadium, slamming Primeape into the arena floor with tremendous force. Primeape, however, was able to still stand as though nothing had happened.
"This is bad! Primeape, use Cross Chop!" Lincoln called out.
"DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO!" Primeape defiantly snapped, as it went on the attack by itself, using Low Kick, which did connect, and due to Primeape's maximized attack strength, did sizeable damage.
"Oh wow, it would appear that Lincoln and Primeape are not cooperating as a team!" Teddy observed.
"Hmm, it is important to know that Primeape can be extremely fickle Pokemon, and may not listen to their trainers if they don't feel like it. Unless he does something to help connect with his Primeape, Lincoln could lose in the first round," Don George stated.
"I'm not going to lose to some untrained Pokemon!" Gilbert growled, as Primeape came in with another Low Kick, "Quick, Counter that!" Machop took the Low Kick, only to send Primeape flying backwards toward the wall.
"Oh no, Primeape, look out!" Lincoln said, rushing to cushion Primeape's impact, slamming into the wall himself. Primeape could only look at him in disbelief.
"Why did you do that for me?" Primeape questioned.
"Do you really need to ask, Primeape? As your trainer, it's my job to look out for your wellbeing. The better question is 'are you ok?'" Lincoln asked. Primeape was stunned to hear this boy being so selfless towards it, and even after all the ruckus it had put him through. Primeape then got new determination.
"I am, and I'm ready to battle!" Primeape replied, as the two of them got back up.
"Alright. Now, just remember, Machop used Focus Energy, so it's more likely to land Critical Hits! Try to keep your guard up and your movements swift!" Lincoln said.
"Will do! And you know, I can use Focus Energy too!" Primeape said, as the two of them got back up to the battlefield.
"Ah, looks like Primeape is back in action, ladies and gentleman! The rules for the P-1 Grand Prix state that all battles will not be considered over until one of either side's Pokemon can no longer battle, so throwing Primeape out of the ring would not disqualify it," Teddy announced.
"And I must point out that it looks like both Primeape and its trainer are looking more in synch than before! No doubt that save Lincoln did for Primeape has earned its respect!" Don George observed.
"Heh, Lincoln never ceases to amaze me," Raigo commented.
"Machop, use Close Combat again!" Gilbert ordered. Machop charged at Primeape once again.
"Primeape, use Focus Energy, then into Counter!" Lincoln called out. Primeape then used Focus Energy, just as Close Combat hit it. As it took the attack, Primeape then landed a solid Counter, sending Machop flying back into its trainer, completely knocked out. The bell rang, signaling the end of the round.
"And there you have it folks! Lincoln Loud is going to be our first competitor moving on!" Teddy announced.
"Alright Primeape, we won the first match!" Lincoln exclaimed, as Primeape leapt up onto its trainer, obviously happy with the win as well.
"Well, at least now we won't have much to worry about with Primeape going wild anymore," Misty commented.
"Plus, it's shown to be a real powerhouse," Brock added. From where all the other competitors were standing, Anthony seemed impressed with Primeape's prowess.
"That Primeape… It'll be one tough opponent!" he commented. From then on, Lincoln, Raigo, Anthony, Giant, and James all battled fiercely, making their way through the ranks, until it was time for Anthony to take on Hitmonlee.
"In this corner, the Lightning-Fast Puncher of the Pokemon World, it's Hitmonchan! And in the opposite corner, the legendary Kicking Fiend, it's Hitmonlee!" Teddy announced.
"Hmm, this'll be a great match," Lincoln commented.
"It will be, considering that those two are evolved from the same Pokemon," Raigo replied.
"Wait, they are?" Lincoln asked.
"Yep! Those two, along with Hitmontop, all evolve from a Pokemon called 'Tyrogue'," Raigo replied. Lincoln then pulled out his Pokedex, and scanned Hitmonlee.
"Hitmonlee, the Kicking Pokemon, a Fighting Type first discovered in the Kanto Region. This amazing Pokemon has an incredible sense of balance. It can kick in succession from any position. It's legs freely extend and contract, startling any first-time opponents," Dexter explained.
"Whoa, we'll have to watch out for those legs if we get pitted against them," Lincoln commented, as the battle got underway.
"Alright Hitmonchan, start off fast with Mach Punch!" Anthony called out. Hitmonchan then sprinted right at Hitmonlee, decking it with a powerful and almost blindingly fast punch.
"Whoa, I think that Mach punch was faster than what Shroomer can do!" Raigo commented, surprised by how fast Hitmonchan was.
"Hitmonlee, Rolling Kick!" Giant ordered. Hitmonlee send its spinning leg right at Hitmonchan, who tanked the attack, "Alright, now give it a Double Kick!" Hitmonlee then landed two kicks in a row.
"Pull yourself together, Hitmonchan! Use Sky Uppercut!" Anthony called out. Hitmonchan then landed a powerful uppercut to Hitmonlee.
"Wow, this is intense! A real battle between punching and kicking," Lincoln commented.
"That's right. I can't even tell who'll come out on top!" Raigo replied.
"Hitmonlee, it's now or never! Use High Jump Kick!" Giant ordered. Hitmonlee leapt high into the air, and sent it's stretchy leg down in front of Hitmonchan, before retracting itself back down, and landing a hard kick with the knee to Hitmonchan. Hitmonchan was barely able to keep standing.
"This Giant guy's not just good, he's gutsy!" Raigo observed.
"Huh? What do you mean?" Lincoln asked.
"See, both Jump Kick and High Jump Kick are risky moves to use, because if either attack misses, the user takes a good chunk of damage instead. But that gamble is worth the risk, since both attacks can land massive damage," Raigo replied.
"Alright Hitmonlee, use Blaze Kick!" Giant ordered. With it's foot ignited, Hitmonlee leapt right at Hitmonlee, when…
"Stop, please, I don't want to see my father's Hitmonchan get hurt anymore!" she pleaded, stepping in the way.
"Rebecca!" Anthony exclaimed, as he rushed in to shield his daughter from the attack, just in time, getting thrown into the athlete's section.
"Whoa, are you alright?!" Lincoln exclaimed, as he and several others rushed to his aid.
"Yeah, I'll be fine," Anthony replied, as he got back up. Rebecca and Hitmonchan were stunned by his selfless actions, "Rebecca, are you hurt?"
"No, I'm fine, Daddy, thanks to you," Rebecca replied, embracing her father.
"I'm sorry I worried you and your mother. We'll just train for the Grand Prix next year," Anthony replied, as he threw his towel into the battlefield. This resulted in the bell getting sounded.
"And that's it! Anthony has thrown in the towel!" Teddy announced.
"Now that was a true show of fatherly compassion!" Don George exclaimed, being moved to tears by the show of affection.
"What do you say we stick around to see this whole thing to the end?" a woman asked, as she approached.
"Mommy!" Rebecca exclaimed.
"Hey honey. Sorry, I just wanted to show that your husband can be a top-notch trainer worth respecting," Anthony said.
"You may be a big oaf, but at least you're a big family oaf!" Anthony's wife said.
"Good to see the family's back together," Raigo commented.
"Yeah, so let's make sure you and I make it all the way to the finals!" Lincoln said with determination.
"Took the words right out of my mouth!" Raigo replied.
"And with that, we now have our final four! And with a quick random shuffle, here are the match ups!" Teddy proclaimed, as the pairings were shown on the jumbotron, "Jay VS Raigo and Lincoln VS Giant!"
"So, I'm going up against that Hitmonlee!" Lincoln commented.
"It'll be a tough one, that's for sure. But you and Primeape will do great!" Anthony replied.
"But first, it's my turn with Galahad!" Raigo said, as he got up to the trainer's box, as James entered the opposite box.
"Do it, James! Er… I mean, Jay!" a disguised Meowth called out from the stands.
"James is doing surprisingly well. He might actually win this whole shebang!" Jessie commented, anticipating the next match.
"Alright, the rules are the same, so let's get right into this!" Teddy announced.
"Galahad, you're up!" Raigo said, sending out his Gallade.
"Grapploct, let's do this!" James said, sending out his Grapploct. Lincoln scanned Grapploct.
"Grapploct, the Jujitsu Pokemon a Fighting Type first discovered in the Galar Region. Grapploct is the evolved form of Clobbopus. Its body is made up of nothing but muscles. This makes it's grappling moves tremendously powerful," Dexter explained.
"Since Galahad is part Psychic Type, it should have an edge, even with those grappling moves," Lincoln commented, as he took his seat. The bell rang, signaling the start of the match.
"Alright Galahad, use Swords Dance!" Raigo called out. Galahad then used Swords Dance to power up.
"Grapploct, match that power up by Bulking Up!" James called out. Grapploct then used Bulk Up to power u as well, "Alright, now use Liquidation!" Grapploct then got in close to Galahad, and blasted it with a full force water attack, which Galahad was able to withstand.
"You're going to have to do a lot more than that to beat Galahad! Use Leaf Blade!" Galahad's arms began glowing green, as it slashed at Grapploct.
"Quick, while it's in range, use Octolock!" James called out. Shaking off Leaf Blade, Grapploct then wrapped its tentacles around Galahad, restricting it's movements. Galahad stuggled to break free.
"What's Octolock?!" Lincoln exclaimed.
"Information: Ocotolock: A Fighting Type Moves that locks the opponent in place to prevent them from fleeing. It also reduces the opponent's Defense and Special Defense stats every turn," Dexter explained.
"That won't stop us! Galahad, use Psychic to break free!" Raigo called out. Galahad, once it got a chance to breathe, used Psychic to throw Grapploct off, "Alright, now use Psycho Cut!" Galahad then fired off blades of psychic energy at Grapploct, damaging it immensely.
"Oh, after breaking free from that Octolock, Gallade continues its assault with Psycho Cut!" Teddy announced.
"A good choice, using Psychic Type Attacks to deal plenty of damage. Not to mention that Psycho Cut also has a high Critical Hit Ratio," Don George added.
"We won't take that kind of punishment Grapploct! Time to give them a little Payback, back-to-back!" James called out. Grapploct then landed blow after powerful blow against Galahad.
"Heh, thanks for that!" Raigo exclaimed.
"Wait, you're thanking me for attacking your Pokemon?" James questioned.
"That's right, and with a Dark Type Move no less!" Raigo replied, as Galahad looked like it was powering up.
"Oh my, it looks like all those Paybacks are increasing Gallade's power!" Teddy exclaimed.
"That can only mean one thing! It's Gallade's Hidden Ability, Justified!" Don George proclaimed.
"That's right! Justified is an ability that increases Galahad's Attack Power every time it's hit with a Dark Type move like Payback!" Raigo stated, as Galahad took a ready stance, "Alright, let's show them your new power! Psycho Cut, full power!" Galahad once again fired off Psycho Cut, and this time it was strong enough to leave large gashes on the battlefield, just as they struck Grapploct, sending it back into James, knocking both of them out. The bell rang, signaling the end of the round.
"And that's it! Raigo and Gallade have bested Jay and his Grapploct, and are moving on to the final round!" Teddy announced.
"We'll have a short intermission to get those gashes in the battlefield filled up," Don George said, as some of the Battle Club staff came out with wheelbarrows full of dirt.
"Nice one, Raigo!" Lincoln said, as Raigo and Gallade came back into the competitor's section.
"Heh, thanks. But that Octolock almost messed us up," Raigo replied, as the Battle Club workers finished up filling in the holes Psycho Cut made.
"Alright, the battlefield is back in order, so now we can move on to the second round of the semifinals! This match will be pitting Lincoln Loud and his Primeape against Giant and Hitmonlee! Don George, what are your thoughts on this match up?" Teddy asked, as both trainers took their positions on the field.
"Hmm, it'll all boil down to either Primeape's ferocity or Hitmonlee's flexibility that will decide this match up! Of course, Hitmonlee, in my opinion, has a slight advantage, since it wasn't until half way through the first battle that Primeape started to listen to and trust Lincoln. Of course, with the kind of power Primeape has been showing throughout the tournament, that may not even be an issue, so it's anyone's guess as to who will move on," Don George replied.
"Primeape, you're up once again!" Lincoln said, sending out Primeape.
"Hitmonlee, let's show this little upstart how we do things!" Giant said, sending out Hitmonlee. The bell rang, signaling the start of the match.
"Alright Primeape, let's start off with Focus Energy!" Lincoln called out. Primeape then used Focus Energy, thus increasing Primeape's Critical Hit Ratio.
"Hitmonlee, give them a Mega Kick!" Giant ordered. Hitmonlee leapt right at Primeape with it's foot glowing brightly, as it kicked Primeape, who tanked the attack. Primeape then seemed to get angry, as it appeared to have powered up.
"And for the second time in this competition, we're witnessing Primeape's Anger Point ability! Hitmonlee may have been able to land a Critical Hit, but now Primeape will be able to dish back even more damage now!" Teddy announced.
"Especially since it used Focus Energy to better its chances of landing Critical Hits," Don George added.
"It's going to take a lot more than that to topple my Hitmonlee! Use Blaze Kick!" Giant called out. Hitmonlee then landed the fiery kick against Primeape.
"Don't take that, Primeape! Give them a Cross Chop!" Lincoln called out. While Hitmonlee was still in range, Primeape landed a crossing chop attack against the Kicking Pokemon. And since it's attack power was maximized, it dealt a lot more damage than usual.
"Alright, it's all or nothing with this! Hitmonlee, use High Jump Kick!" Giant called out. Hitmonlee leapt high into the air, and came careening down at Primeape with High Jump Kick.
"Try to meet the attack, Primeape! Put all of that anger of yours into one attack!" Lincoln called out.
"Already on it!" Primeape replied, as it went to face Hitmonlee. It was then that something happened that even Primeape wasn't expecting. It's fist became enveloped in red and purple energy, as it punched Hitmonlee's High Jump Kick, resulting in an explosion that sent both Pokemon down to the battlefield. Primeape was able to land perfectly, but Hitmonlee was not as fortunate, as it was knocked out cold. The bell rang, signaling the end of the match.
"And Hitmonlee is down! So, facing Raigo and his Gallade in the next round will be Lincoln Loud and his Primeape! Don George, what do you make of that move Primeape used at that last moment?" Teddy asked.
"I'm not sure, but if I had to take a guess, it had to be a move I've only heard rumors about a Ghost Type Move called 'Rage Fist'. Unfortunately, I don't know too much about it, other than that Primeape is the only known Pokemon capable of learning it," Don George replied.
"Well, in any case, we'll have a brief intermission so the Pokemon can go heal up, so don't go anywhere!" Teddy proclaimed.
"That's amazing, learning a new move like that just before the final match!" Misty exclaimed.
"And since Rage Fist is a Ghost Type move, it'll help Lincoln with battling Raigo," Brock added.
"Oh yeah, and this'll be the first time those two have ever actually battled!" Misty exclaimed.
"Which'll make for a truly remarkable battle for both of them," Anthony said, as he and his family sat next to Brock and Misty. Soon, both Lincoln and Raigo were back out on the battlefield with both of their Pokemon ready to go. The bell rang, sounding the start of the match.
"Let's get this started strong, Galahad! Use Slash!" Raigo called out. Galahad then slashed at Primeape with its elbow blades. Since Primeape didn't power up, it was clear it wasn't a Critical Hit.
"Stay strong, Primeape! Use Low Kick!" Lincoln called out. Primeape then went and launched a kick at Galahad's legs, causing the Blade Pokemon to fall to the ground. It got back up quickly.
"Alright, now use Psybeam!" Galahad then fired off Psybeam at Primeape, who was able to dodge with ease, "Back-to-back Leaf Blades!" Galahad then began slashing away at Primeape with Leaf Blade, who continued to dodge.
"Quick, Counter that!" Primeape then allowed a Leaf Blade to hit, only to retaliate with Counter, sending Galahad skidding backwards, "Alright, now let's use Rage Fist!" Lincoln called out. Primeape once again used Rage Fist, only for it to fizzle out before getting anywhere near Galahad, "Huh? Hey, what gives?"
"I don't know! I was doing the attack by memory!" Primeape replied, equally as confused as Lincoln.
"Oh my, it would appear that Primeape's new Rage Fist attack has fizzled out on the duo!" Teddy announced.
"Hmm, perhaps that first time was just to show that Primeape CAN use Rage Fist now. But it's clear that it hasn't fully mastered it," Don George theorized.
"And just when they had something new to take to the finals with them too," Misty commented.
"Maybe Primeape isn't able to build up enough rage energy like before," Brock deduced.
"Alright, since it can't use that attack, we'll finish this up! Galahad, use Psybeam!" Galahad once again fired off Psybeam, this time striking Primeape, "Now into Psycho Cut!" getting hit by two Psychic Type attacks in a row proved too much for Primeape, as it went down to defeat. The bell rang, signaling the end of the final match.
"And it's over! The winner of the P-1 Grand Prix Club Attack is Raigo of Lavaridge Town!" Teddy announced, as Lincoln went to help Primeape up.
"Hey Primeape, you did great out there," Lincoln praised.
"Tough break there, Lincoln. That Rage Fist looked like could've really messed up Galahad and me," Raigo commented, as he and Galahad approached the two of them.
"Yeah. I guess we're just going to have to work hard to try and perfect it," Lincoln said.
"Yeah, and once you do, lets battle again. I want to see that kind of power first hand," Raigo replied, as the two shook hands. It was then that they were approached by Brock, Misty, and Anthony's family.
"You did great out there, Lincoln. You too, Primeape," Misty said.
"Question now is how are you going to train to use Rage Fist?" Brock asked.
"Yeah, that's a good question," Lincoln replied, feeling completely lost as to how he'd help Primeape master this new technique.
"Well, why don't I try to train it for you?" Anthony suggested.
"Huh? You, Anthony?" Lincoln asked.
"Sure. My sources tell me that Primeape's use of Rage Fist was first discovered in the Paldea Region. How's about I take it with me and my family on our vacation, and in my free time, I can try to help it master Rage Fist?" Anthony asked.
"When it comes to training Fighting Type Pokemon, Daddy's a natural!" Rebecca vouched.
"And I promise that I'll bring back Primeape in time for the Pokemon League tournament," Anthony added.
"Hmm, what do you say, Primeape?" Lincoln asked the Pig Monkey Pokemon in question.
"As much as I'd like to finally start working with you now that I can trust you, I feel that learning that Rage Fist could help both of us out immensely," Primeape replied.
"Then it's settled," Lincoln said, turning back to Anthony, "You just got yourself a new student, Anthony," he said, handing over Primeape's Ultra Ball.
"Thanks, and don't you worry 'bout a thing! I'll train up Primeape to be a real champ!" Anthony said.
"It's kind of hard to believe that now that you and Primeape are a team, you're already going your separate ways," Misty commented.
"Well, not forever, Misty. Anthony said he'd bring Primeape back in time for the Pokemon League. After that, Primeape will be a full fledged member of the team again," Lincoln replied.
Later, at the Pokemon Center,
"Ah, I see. So you've decided to have someone take Primeape to Paldea to master Rage Fist. That'll be quite the experience for Primeape," Professor Oak said, as he was speaking to Lincoln over the video phone.
"Yeah, and when Primeape finally started to trust me, you wouldn't believe how strong it is in battle!" Lincoln replied.
"Indeed. And I can guarantee that it'll get much stronger, especially with what Rage Fist will bring."
"Huh? What do you mean, Professor?"
"I could tell you, but why spoil the surprise?"
"Heh, yeah, I guess you have a point there. Well, first thing in the morning, my friends and I are going to continue heading to Fuchsia City."
"Ah, good. And I'm certain that you'll enjoy the Safari Zone they have there as well."
"Yeah. I'm hoping to not only catch some more rare Pokemon, but also to spend some time with my future mothers in laws."
"Ah, going to do some bonding with your future family, I see! Speaking of family, I trust you've been keeping in touch with yours?"
"Yeah. I called them earlier this morning, and am planning to do so again once I'm at Fuchsia City."
"Hmm, always good to have plenty of stories to tell. And since you'll be passing through Stone Town, you should try looking up a certain someone there that can help you with mastering Mega Evolution."
"Sounds like a plan! After all, I can't keep having Lapis use Mega Evolution if she collapses after each battle, even if it's a short one."
"Yes. Lapis, along with your Lucario, Gyarados, Mawile, Gengar, Buzzerker, Inferna, Lopunny, and Absol will need to fully master Mega Evolution if you want them to help you in a really tough battle."
"Sounds good. And if anything else comes up, I'll get in touch," Lincoln replied, as he hung up.
"So, you're going to Fuchsia City in the morning, right?" Raigo asked.
"Yeah, that's right. After that, I'll try my hand at any other Gyms around that area," Lincoln replied.
"Well, if you're going to take on any other Gyms after Fuchsia City, take my word of advice: Don't bother challenge the Chartreuse City Gym," Raigo replied.
"Is there a problem with that gym?" Misty asked.
"The Gym Leader there is a complete joke, and he isn't even the one who's supposed to be the Gym Leader. I challenged him to a battle, and won way too easily. Like, his Eight Badge Team is no stronger than a One Badge Team. I never even bothered accepting a Badge from there," Raigo replied.
"Hmm, now that's strange. The Chartreuse City Gym is one of the top Gyms in all of Kanto, and much like my and Misty's gyms, it's a family-owned Gym, passed down from the previous Gym Leader to the next generation," Brock commented.
"Well, if you do wind up in Chartreuse City, you'll see what I mean. As for me, I heard that the Gringey City Gym Leader came back from recruiting trainers in another region to fight Team Rocket, so I'll head over there to challenge that Gym," Raigo replied.
"And after that, you'll have all eight badges, right?" Lincoln asked.
"That's right. I'll officially qualify for the Indigo League," Raigo replied.
"Oh, Lincoln?" Lincoln's Joy asked, approaching the group.
"Hmm? Yes, Joy?" Lincoln asked.
"If you're always gunning for the Grand Festival, I've heard that some of the towns and cities between here and Fuchsia City are holding Pokemon Contests for some of the different categories than the one you participated in while you were in Celadon City," she informed, as she pulled up a map on the big screen, "Yes, you should try entering the Contests being held in Stone Town and Sunny Town. They're going to be Toughness and Coolness Contests respectively."
"Well, Professor Oak did say to stop by Stone Town to help some of my Pokemon with mastering Mega Evolution. What do you say, guys?" Lincoln asked his companions.
"It would be killing two birds with one stone. Besides, the cycling path we'll be on stops in one of the towns just before Sunny Town, requiring us to continue along that path," Brock replied.
"I would like to see how one masters Mega Evolution, in case I ever find myself in possession of a Key Stone and a Mega Stone," Misty added.
"Then I guess it's settled then! Our first stop will be Stone Town, followed by Sunny Town!" Lincoln declared.
Meanwhile, at Team Rocket HQ,
Petrel was drilling the grunts that would be taking part in the Royal Woods invasion plan happening in less than a month, "Alright, we'll keep practicing just like this until it becomes second nature!" he declared.
"Sir, incoming transmission from the boss!" a grunt said.
"Put him on screen," Petrel ordered. The grunt did so, as Petrel stood to attention, "Master Giovanni, sir! As you can see, our preparations for the invasion of Royal Woods are currently underway! We're currently going through the necessary steps to ensure that our invasion happens swiftly and unopposed!"
"Good work, Petrel. What exactly do you plan to do once you're there?" Giovanni asked.
"Well, I'm glad you asked, sir," Petrel replied, as he relayed his plans.
And here's the latest chapter of Kanto Gets Loud. Now, before you start blowing up the comments section about how this is mirroring exactly what happened with Ash's Primeape in the anime, I can assure you that Primeape WILL return in time for the Pokemon League.
Anyhow, I'm going to start up a new poll for the Sunny Town and Stone Town Pokemon Contests. This time, it'll be about who Lincoln will enter in both the Appeals Stage and the Battle Round. Go cast your votes when you get the chance to! And I'll see you all in the next chapter!
