Chapter Twenty-Two

Summer Begins

A/N – Life is definitely a series of highs and lows and I believe that the last chapter showed how both can happen in tandem. The joy of Wyatt and Lyndy's graduation, academic awards and wedding announcement was offset by the death of Amy and Lou's father. But as you can see, especially with the Bordens and other family, each event can receive the attention and focus they need. The celebration of Wyatt and Lyndy's achievement at this stage of their lives was enjoyed by all. Even with a person who had faults the celebration of his life was handled by everyone and in a respectful way. So, now it is time to move into the summer. The Documentary is about to be released, the special kids and company rodeo are being planned and most importantly an Olympic trip is set with great anticipation from the Borden family. And regarding our young couple, their journey is underway and soon they will become integral in the success of the company and start a life together as a married couple. This summer will be packed with activities and events along with successes and challenges. We will watch our main characters face their new world with a newfound zest for life and with the support of their parents, siblings and friends will prosper. Ty and Amy will continued to guide their children to strive for what they want to achieve and support them no matter what. Their relationship will continue to evolve and grow. Hold on for a bit of excitement and fun. Let me know how I am doing and what you think. Your feedback is cherished by me and your ideas have helped me develop several storylines. Thanks for your commitment to my story. Sorry for being a little late, but I was on holiday and will get back on track. Mature Content – Enjoy!

It was early Monday morning and after all of the stress of the events of the last days, Lyndy sat up thinking about how today marked a new stage in her life. She noticed the faint light of the new day and then looked over to a peaceful Wyatt breathing deeply. They had been up later the night before enjoying each other for the first time in a few days and she shivered remembering how intimate it was as well as how amazing her fiancé met all of her needs the night before. She rolled over a little over to see him but not disturb him. With his eyes closed he smiled and whispered, "It's not nice to stare" She giggled as he pulled her in realizing that they had never gotten dressed from the night before, "Sorry, I can't help myself. Thanks you for last night, it was amazing. I think we both needed it after the stress of the last few days." She leaned up to kiss him as he spoke softly, "Well, I won't lie, I wasn't sure you were ready. I know how hard this has been for you, especially worrying about your mom and aunt. But you were pretty amazing too." She giggled again, "Big day, almost Dr. Miller, I think we need to shower and cook breakfast for everyone. We have work to do!" He smiled and kissed her again with a little more passion, "Ok, but if we are going to shower, we need to focus on that if we want to cook breakfast." She frowned but shook her head, "I guess, maybe a little?" He looked at her sternly, "Lyndy we have a lifetime for that." She looked at him tearily, "I love you Wyatt, let's go." He smiled as he watched her naked body scamper to the bathroom regretting his last comment." Ty was up early, still a little worried about his wife and the loss of her father. Their relationship had been a little different that a normal one especially when he came back after 10 years and later in life when he went off the wagon and turned into a mean father and grandfather. Most of the kids had little contact with him most of their life but he was still her father. He laid next to her as the sun came up watching her sleep peacefully. The night had been good and she seemed Ok but he still worried. As he looked out the window, he heard her whisper, "So, how long have you been staring at me?" He smiled and kissed her forehead, "For a while. How are you doing?" She cuddled up close to him and held him tightly, leaning up and kissing him passionately. "Well I am better, especially now." He smiled, "Amy we have a lot to do today and the Documentary is premiering tonight. Remember we are all going to Heartland to watch it." She continued to nibble on his ear and neck and whispered, "But we have time lover boy, I am really needing a little loving this morning." He sighed heavily, "Ok I guess." She pulled back and poked his ribs, "Whatever, never mind then." Before she could pull away, he pulled her in and began to kiss and fondle her aggressively. She fought for a second until she joined in. Within minutes their sleep clothes were strewn across the room and they were making up for a few days of not being intimate. Amy got the edge as she moved her lips and hands to all the right places. While her tongue danced with his she reached down and stroked his manhood until it was rock hard. He moaned as she increased the motion and then she moved down his chest and stomach to add more passion. He arched his back and through his head back as she pleasured him. As she move back to his lips, he moved his hand between her legs to return the favor. As he entered her with his fingers she moaned and call his name out. She exploded in ecstasy as he finished his job and they laid close breathing heavily and trying to catch their breath. Once calmed down he rolled her over on her back and she welcomed him. He entered her slowly and the motion they knew so well began and their love making went on for a while. After a good amount of time they both knew it was time. She shuttered as her orgasm shook her body and Ty joined releasing into her. They continued their movements for several minutes until they collapsed into each other, perspiring and breathing heavily. Finally Amy smiled, "Well I am really Ok now but I hear some rustling. We need to get down to make sure everyone gets their day on, including us." He looked deeply into her eyes, "Amy, I am sorry about your dad and if you ever need to talk please make sure you do. I love you so much and want you to be Ok." She smirked, "Well I definitely love you and I will. But you have to promise that we repeat that a little more as well. Making love to you cures all ills" They smiled and hopped up to get ready.

The breakfast table was very active. Amy reminded everyone about watching the Documentary at Heartland in the evening and that it would just be family. The rest of the staff and friends would be watching it at their homes. Annie spoke up, "Ok, I am, getting nervous since the Olympics are in a little over 6 weeks. Mom is everything booked?" Amy smiled, "Sweetie, your tickets are booked with the team and where you are staying is also arranged through the Canadian Olympic Committee. Our group is coming down the afternoon before you start and are coming back the morning after and all of our flights to LA and rooms are ready to go. Remember if you want you can come back with us or stay and come back with the team." She sighed heavily, "I kind of want to come home but I will let you know. I need to train more." Lyndy smiled, "Annie you are training just enough, don't overthink it and think of Theo, you don't want to wear him out." Annie grew wide eyed, "Oh my god is everything arranged for Theo too?" Ty smiled, "Sweetie cool down, of course it is. The horses are all being shipped a few days before you get there so they can settle. The Olympic folks will have people waiting for them and you can see him as soon as you get to the Equine Stadium." Addie looked at her sister and smiled, "Sis, you have to chill and just have fun. Remember what Georgie told you. She said mom always told her that and that was why she always did so well. No matter what we are so happy and can't wait to see you with that Gold Medal." Everyone laughed and Maddie changed the subject. Did you all get your assignments for the Special Kid's rodeo? It is in a week from this weekend. Lou, Ricky and I are going to the Arena to finalize everything. I am so happy we moved to the local Hudson Rodeo Grounds rather than go to Calgary again. Since we are doing two days, we can still fit everyone in and there is plenty of room. The media is meeting us there as well as there is talk that it will be videotaped and shown a lot on the air. It is going to be so cool. Also having the tape will help us with getting more sponsorships. Right now with the sponsors and donations we have more than enough money and decided to donate any access to several special needs organizations. Lou promised that the company would match any donation as well." JT hugged his sister, "You have done a great job sis, I can't wait." They all finished up eating and talked about the work week. Business as usual was booming and they feared that after the Documentary aired it would increase. Wyatt talked about what their donation was used for the Rehoming center and JT had a day planned with his friends and the Llamas. Amy had a full day and Ty was going to the University of Calgary with Scott to be a part of several teaching surgeries for the newly graduated almost vets. Ty laughed, "We were thinking about asking Wyatt but he has too much to do here and well, he has kind of been there and done that." Lyndy kissed his cheek, "I know my man is a stud for sure." Addie, Annie and Maddie all gagged at once as JT sighed, "Man, another mom and dad." Everyone laughed cleaned up and went on their way. Amy and Ty headed over to their office to get ready for the morning meetings with their teams. As they went in Amy stood against the door and pulled Ty in for a deep kiss. "This morning was wonderful my love, we need to get back into the groove for sure." He laughed as Georgie pounded on the door, "Come on you two, lots to do!" He smiled kissing her back, "Most definitely." Their morning meetings went well and after they both realized that Lyndy and Wyatt would be permanent fixtures moving forward. Amy, Georgie and Katie brought Lyndy in on everything they did including the financial side. Her fresh ideas were helpful to the group and the three veterans saw a unique view of things that she brought which for all of them was refreshing. Lyndy appreciated the way she was treated by everyone, not just her mom and cousins. All of the staff were comfortable as always with her but she felt as though she was being treated with even more respect. She made a promise to herself that she would never take advantage of that but to make sure she turned the respect back to them. Wyatt was a little more overwhelmed with the vet team. He was overwhelmed with their scope of knowledge, each having their own personal achievements to hold their hat on. He was impressed that Dr. Ellie and Dr. Maddie were there on Zoom and actively involved. He found that the first meeting of each week was a little more comprehensive and that the rest of the week were quicker, more focused on catch ups and check ins. Ty smiled noticing that Wyatt seemed a bit overwhelmed, "Wyatt do you have any questions? You are part of the team so never hold any thoughts back, that is how we do things here." Cass laughed, "I mean come on Wyatt, you are the world famous horse rescuer." They all laughed calming him some and making him feel that he was a genuine part of the team. As both meetings finished they headed out to work. Lyndy caught Wyatt's eyes and smiled as both of them realized that their dreams were becoming reality.

The family was finishing up the BBQ that some of the ranch hands had cooked up for them. Along with a lot of great sides everyone was full and decided to hold off to have desert while they watched the Documentary. It was going to be aired prime time on CBC, Canada's national channel. As planned just the immediate family was there but even with that it was a big crowd. Clay and Wyatt brought in the x-large TV from the meeting room and they set another up in the kitchen. All the younger kids gathered around the floor in front of the TV with their ice cream and the adults grabbed seats where they could except for Jack, Lisa, Amy, Ty , Lou and Scott who had comfy chairs and couches to sit. Amy and Lou just wanted immediate famliy so even the girls were solo that night. They felt this was a special night and that all the rest of the friends and staff should watch it with their families. Ellory hosted a big get together at the Rehoming Center for all of the staff, their families and her new boyfriend, who had seemed to be around a lot more. She felt it was important to have the group together since they were the main focus. Lou yelled out, "Ok everybody get you desert and find a seat, we have 5 minutes. They all got settled and Amy and Lou noticed that Jack was a little solemn. Amy asked him softly, Grandpa, are you Ok?" He smiled, "Fine and dandy." All the kids laughed at his comment but looked at him with admiration. He meant so much to all of them. They perked up when the lead in for the Documentary came on showing the Heartland sign as well as the main sign at the Miracle ranch. The familiar voice of the narrator, whom they had all met spoke generally about the story that was about to be shared and how this business had evolved. As he spoke pictures of the entire operation were shown, including many of the family and staff. Every time someone familiar came on the screen, the kids shrieked. Noah yelled out, "Mommy that's you working with Annie." Sienna also screamed when Katie was on the picture standing next to her father. But the funniest was when JT yelled out, "Look that's me on my Gator giving Shawna a ride, how cool." As he came to the end of his comments a picture of the Rehoming Center sign and facility came into view. Everyone was in awe of the pictures especially the ariel views that had been taken by a drone. They focused when the narrator made a comment, "Before we get into the program I have some people who would like to say something." To their amazement Sam and Alex from Good Morning Calgary were sitting at their set desk. They each took the time to talk about the entire family, especially the Borden's and how a dream that Amy and Ty had evolved into the organization that will be highlighted over the next hour. Everyone was speechless as the watched overwhelmed with their kind words and the picture of them. Then the screen shifted and right in front of them were Justin and Maryanne Trudeau sitting in their home. Justin spoke clearly, "Good evening fellow Canadians. Maryanne and I felt a need to introduce this Documentary about a place that is a true example of our drive to do what is right, in this case for animals. Amy and Ty Borden are dear friends of ours but what their family, friends and staff have accomplished is a benchmark for Canadian ingenuity and drive. We are a strong willed people and are driven to do what is right for each other. Their organization provides premium care for animals in distress along with their owners. It can be a dog who needs his nails trimmed to a horse that needs complicated and intricate surgery. We are confident that once you watch this you will agree. Although it is focused on the Rehoming Center you will get glimpses of the entirety of what they provide for their clients." He smiled as Maryanne took over. "There is one person that we also want to recognize. "Jack Bartlett is the patriarch of their family and everything you are about to see. A rodeo legend he has nurtured an environment of love and commitment that is the driving force of everything these extraordinary people do. We hope you enjoy and best wishes to all of you." They family sat quietly as a few sniffles were heard. Lisa leaned into Jack, "Well that was nice, don't you think." Jack smiled, "Yes it was." They sat and watched the Documentary commenting when they felt the needed to, laughing at the funny stuff and gasping when something startled them. After some opening words from Jack the focus went on to the Rehoming Center and all of the steps taken to get the horse, train the horse and find a new home for the horse. They used several clients that really made it real. Ellory and her team were great, doing a great job detailing what they did. They use the rescued horses as a prime example of what they do. The Borden kids were proud when their mom, Lou and Jack were on a couch being interviewed about their grandma, great grandma and great-great grandfather and how this was their legacy. Lyndy held Wyatt's hand tightly as her mom talked about her mom and how she helped her realize that helping horses was her destiny. As the documentary ended the family all smiled with pride at what they had seen. Jack felt obligated to speak and everyone listened intently. "Well that was very nice and I think we all should be proud. It was not an arrogant or self-serving Documentary but a true depiction of what we do and stand for. I thought it was perfect." Everyone smile as he added, "Well I think we all deserve more desert. And I need a coffee refill." Everyone laughed as it had been a great night for the family.

The next few weeks were filled with excitement and pride after the showing for the Documentary. The family, friends and staff were on top of the world and accolades were coming in from everywhere. An investment group again approached Amy and Ty about franchising the Rehoming Center and setting up operations all over North America to start and maybe international one day. They kindly talked to them but weren't quite ready to commit because they had been approached by several Universities and well known Equine Centers about partnering with them for centers at their locations. They decided to let everyone know that they would discuss at the next Board Meeting and let them all know. Business at the Rehoming Center was booming, not just with the number of horses they were receiving but the growing list of potential owners. The waiting list had grown significantly. The Board, through a quick vote agreed to use the money that Lyndy and Wyatt donated, along with several other donations to begin an expansion process. First they would put temporary pens up and eventually permanently double the size of the facility. Since it was the summer they had a little time so once the plans were drawn up the work began. Much to their surprise, several of the companies doing the work offered to give a discounted price as their way of donating to the cause. Ellory had gone into full time Manager role and the Borden Girls along with Haley, were stepping in to help where they could. As Haley moved along in her pregnancy, not working with horses made sense and she loved the rehoming Center and what they did. She quietly hoped that one day the role would be a permanent one. The Equine Centre was also feeling the effect of the Documentary which was planned to be shown several times of the next few months. For the first time, Amy and Georgie were considering looking for help outside of the family group. They felt that if they could get some trainers in to handle the less needy client horses, it would allow the more skilled members is the team to spend time with the more challenging ones. They also knew that Haley was looking to move over to the Rehoming Center and Wyatt focusing on become certified. Annie, Addie and Maddie were good but had school with the latter two looking at other paths in life. Along with the two of them, Katie and Lyndy had reached a higher level and needed more time to hone their higher level skills. Rather than a traditional method, they reached out to colleagues for some recommendations. Many trainers had inquired about working there but they wanted to be diligent and find the right people, ones that not only were skilled but were in line with the family values that made them as strong as they had become. They hoped to find some candidates and bring them in to vet them out and planned on using a number of people to assist in the process. Meanwhile they managed the increase in workload by meeting every morning as a group to discuss the needs of the day and dispense the workload. Another surprising impact of the Documentary was the increased demand in request to just visit the company and bookings at the various locations that Jenn managed were increasing. Mallory stepped in to assist and when she had time, so did Maddie. There was fine line between clients' needs and the ability to bring in visiting guest. They used the Dude, Ranch, Fairfield, Max and Lilly's cabin and even set up a place for campers to park their trailers and RVs. Jack sighed remembering when Tim came up with an idea to put RV's on the Dude Ranch property, so they found a small plot of land by the Rehoming Center and set up the proper hookups and other amenities. To get Jack even more riled they named it the Tim Fleming Memorial Camping Site. It was fitting and in the end brought a smile to Jack's face. All in all the company was buzzing along with the proud staff and family that worked there. This was a time of transition, moving them even more into the world of animal and especially horse care. They received constant request for visits from television stations, universities, animal base organizations and political figures. It seemed everyone want to get their fix of the Heartland Equestrian Expereince. At the Borden dinner table one night, the conversation was all over the place as everyone felt the need to talk about their day. Jeremy, Ricky and an almost completely healed Desi were there too taking part in the family dinner. As the kids spoke Amy and Ty sat proudly watching them. Maddie was going over the final prep for the Special Kids Rodeo. Ricky and Jeremy spoke of their participation in the Company rodeo, although their girlfriends frowned. Lyndy joked, "Well don't be like my man her, make sure you stay on the horse." Annie was talking about the upcoming trip to the Olympics and her concern if she was ready. Jeremy grabbed her leg under the table and confidently spoke up, "Annie, you are going to rock it." Everyone agreed completely adding their support and pride in her preparation and skills. JT was quiet and finally had a chance to talk, "Finally I get to say something. Well I just wanted to let everyone know that Grandma Marion and Lilly, great Grandma and the others are really happy about how things are going. But Great Grandma Lilly had some advice that I have already shared with GG. She said never forget who we are as a family. Our family and it's legacy are the reason we are here today and we need to always keep that top of mind. Love and caring are the key components of success and it always has to be our focus." Everyone sat startled with his comments. Ty leaned over to whisper into Amy's ear. "And we just wanted to work together. It seems that has worked out well." She giggled and kissed his cheek. Addie joked, "Good lord, here they go again." Everyone laughed and enjoyed the reminder of the dinner together.

The next couple of weeks continued as expected. Everyone was busy, as expected and things were going along pretty smoothly. Amy, Georgie and Katie had found some time to meet with several trainer candidates and had already offered a role to one of them. He was a champion show jumper from Manitoba and was known for the way he was able to relate to his horse on another level. He accepted with excitement as he was having an opportunity to work with the Miracle Girl and an Olympic Champion Show Jumper. They decided to continue and bring on two more full time trainers, allowing Amy to spend more time teaching others and working on new projects. Georgie, Katie and Lyndy would begin handling and managing the business independently moving forward. They even decided to create a Junior level trainer role. If they were interested, younger kids like JT, Trent and Shawna could begin to learn the trade. Several of the younger family members and other children from staff were interested, so Lyndy took charge and held 1 hour sessions two times a week to go over the process of horse healing. They put the word out and had almost 20 kids sign up, including JT, Trent and Shawna. Everyone was excited and looking forward to the sessions. As busy as they were, Amy and Ty insisted on making sure their girls had personal time, especially with their boyfriends. They also made sure that they had time together as well, outside of the work environment. JT wasn't and issue as Shawna and Trent were always at the ranch working and they had a lot of time together. But the main focus early in the summer was prep for the Special Kids Rodeo. Maddie was devoting a large amount of time getting ready as the date drew near. They had 120 participants and were going to be using the Hudson Rodeo grounds and their indoor arena, which were going to be used. The outdoor facility had room for almost 8,000 people and the indoor one, 2000. There would be plenty of room for family, friends and anyone else who wanted to watch, including political figures, media and special guest. A media tent was set up as well where press conferences would be held. A few days before the event, the media began to set up what they needed and a security team had arrive as Justine and Maryanne had graciously offered to officially open the ceremony. In addition the leadership of the local Autism Speaks and Alberta Downs Syndrome Association would be there for the opening ceremony to speak briefly as well. It was looking as though this would be the best event ever and every hotel, motel, camping site and RV park was booked, including the company's properties. Mid-week, prior to the event, contestants, horses and families would be arriving as many used this as a summer vacation. The Mayor of Hudson and the surrounding communities were rolling out the red carpet, understanding the financial impact of all of the people coming in for the event for the community. Every night the family was together, Maddie gave an update, reminding them what their roles would be. One night, Addie had to laugh, "Wow, if there was ever a doubt, we definitely have a new Lou in the family. How does Ricky put up with it." Maddie blushed, "He has been amazing and a big help. He knows how much this means to me, Gwen and Sylvia." Annie smiled, "Sounds like love to me." All of the girls giggled as JT and Wyatt rolled their eyes. Amy and Ty smiled realizing that as the kids built their own lives these family dinners would become more and more challenging to pull off. Lyndy immediately saw her mom's mood and spoke quietly to the group, "Guys, mom needs a little loving from us, I think she is worried, that as we grow older that dinners like this will not happen that often." She smiled at her mother warmly, "Mom, we promise that we will always be here and will never lose us as a family and what we have. Now we made need a bigger table one day, but we can make it work for sure." All the kids smiled in agreement as JT blurted out, "No worries mom, we will. But I do need to make sure that Shawna sits on my left since she is left handed." Everyone laughed and all began attacking the sides of their little brother. As the days progressed the anticipation and excitement grew within the entire organization as many of the staff had family members participating and it seemed everyone was helping out. It took a lot of people to pull this off and everything was covered so the kids participating could have a great time. Lou, Maddie and Amy were interviewed several times by local and national media and the press coverage was pretty impressive. Lou and Amy smiled as a very mature and articulate Maddie handled it all with a smile. As Jack would say, "The stars are aligned and all of the ducks are in a row, now let's get it done."

It was Thursday and the organized chaos was well underway. Participants had been arriving for several days and the Rodeo Grounds' Stables were filling up. They had brought in some additional railing to set up more pens and plenty of feed and water was on hand, although many travelers brought their own. There were very few issues and when they arose, Maddie, with Mallory's help, handled them swiftly. Several of the ranch hands, led by Rusty helped the rodeo ground's staff to get the horses settled in as Steven and Wyatt made frequent visits to do health checks. They assigned some of the senior techs to stay there 24/7 to make sure the horses had the care they needed. Since this was not a competitive event per se the atmosphere was light and refreshing. Every one of the participating families understood the intent and were relishing in the fact that their children were going to be treated like everyone else. By late afternoon on Friday they were set up for the Opening Ceremony, that came with drinks and hors d'oeuvres afterwords. At 5:00 on the dot, the MC spoke up to get everyone settled and welcome everyone. The stands were packed and several thousand additional chairs were on the ground to everyone could see. As the music played, Maddie, Georgie, Lou and Amy, came out on their horses in full cowgirl gear. Then even more impressive, Lyndy, Addie, Annie, Katie, Gwen and Sylvia pulled up right behind them. Amy, Maddie and Lou were set up with headset microphones and Maddie spoke. "Good evening everyone, on behalf of the ladies of Heartland up here with me and the entire staff at Heartland Equestrian Experience we welcome all of you, participants and families. I also want to take a moment to thank all of the sponsors who are all mentioned in the program. Your program also lays out the schedules for your participants and also list all of the other volunteers without whom none of this would happen." Jack, Scott and Ty sat watching and were in awe of the woman of Heartland. They knew that they were the foundation of the family and the business. Maddie continued, "I don't want to spend too much time but from all of us, we wish everyone the best of luck and most of all, have fun. I know we will for sure." The entire place erupted in resounding applause and the ranch hands and rest of the staff hooted and hollered. The focus moved to movement from behind the stage as Justin and Maryanne Trudeau walked out smiling and waving at the crowd. The woman of Heartland all jumped off their horses as hands took them away. They headed up to join the prestigious visitors and after a lot of hugs the leader of Canada and his wife stepped up to the podium. The crowd settled as he began, "Good evening, Maryanne and I have had the fortune of attending and supporting events throughout Canada but we felt personally obligated to be here today. This family has been a large part of our lives for many years and we value their friendship and love. We want to welcome all of you and are certain this experience will be one you all remember for years to come." After applause , Maryanne took over, "I am sorry but I have to add, this family took in our daughter, Haley, after she completed her education at the University of Calgary. She has works here, gotten married and sorry Haley, is pregnant with our first grandchild." Haley blushed as the crowd again erupted in applause. She continued, "If you don't know this place is not just an animal rescue and rehab facility, there are a lot of kids." The crowd laughed as several of the children yelled out in agreement. Justin took over, "Before we hear from two amazing organizations and officially open this event, we would like to bring some folks up her with us. Maddie can you and your two friends join us." They shyly came up as he continued, "This is Maddie Borden and her best friends, Gwen and Sylvia. Years ago, Maddie, who can be fiery, was upset because her two friends could not have a rodeo experience like others. Both of them were becoming avid horsewoman and she felt they needed an outlet to show their skills. I am sure Maddie will correct me, the first Special Kids Rodeo was held at the Miracle Ranch and there were 20 participants. This humble beginning has birthed an amazing event that has grown over the years and I expect will continue. Several other parts of our country, using this as a guide, have also begun to hold events like these. Her vison as a young girl has positively impacted thousands of kids who just needed a chance to shine. Maddie Borden, Mrs. Trudeau and I thank you as well as the rest of Canada. You are a joy and make all of proud to be Canadians." The crowd erupted with a standing ovation as Maddie blushed and stood for pictures with the entire group on the stage. Justin and Maryanne kissed her gently on her cheek, whispering thank you into her ear. The Directors of the two organizations took a few minutes to thank the family and talk about the impact of events like this on kids that sometimes don't get the opportunity. As they finished Maddie, Lou and Amy came to the front of the stage hand in hand. Together they spoke, "We officially open the Special Kids Rodeo. Participants have fun and enjoy the competition." After a final animated applause, the MC stepped up telling everyone to enjoy something to drink and eat and that the family will be available and will be mingling with the crowd. After Maddie, Lou and Amy did a quick press conference they headed out to hugs, kisses and congratulations. The Friday event went on for a few hours as everyone enjoyed the evening. Ty found Amy and kissed her, whispering, "That was nice and I had trouble keeping it together. Seeing all of you and the girls up there warmed my heart and helped me see again how lucky I am." She giggled, "You are such a marshmallow." Now it was time for the Rodeo to begin.

The morning was an early one for the family, all of the volunteers and the participants. They weather was looking good so it was going to be a great weekend. Maddie and her sisters and actually stayed in an RV parked next to the arena and planned to use it as a family base throughout the event, so they were there before the sun rose and after is set, getting ready. The older group who would be competing in Team and Breakaway Roping, Barrel Racing, Show Jumping and Calf Wrestling began arriving early as well. All of the ranch hands and other helpers in the stable area were there to assist as needed. Some of the events were modified for the to meet the participant's adaptive needs and in some cases participant's couldn't compete. The younger group did all of the events except for the Calf Wrestling which was a little too much of a challenge for them. But no matter what, every participant received an individual recognition of each activity and then at the end an overall medal for the entire rodeo, which thanks to several contributors was pretty impressive. Bottom line, there was no first, second and third place, only acknowledgement of being a participant for all. Before the competition all of the youngsters signed up for the events they wanted to be a part of and the schedule was set and ready to go. Since almost 60 of the older group signed up for barrel racing, it would be first. Also the same went for the younger group so their competition began in the inside arena. The crews that were responsible for setting up had a plan in place as both the inside and outside arenas would need several setup changes. Due to the number of participants were in line, the schedule was this same for both. Barrel Racing and Calf Wrestling would be the first day and on Sunday it would be Show Jumping and finally the Roping Events. Since the younger group would not be doing Calf Wrestling, it was decided to have Katie, Haley and the Borden Girls, less Maddie, offer to work with them to learn how to better bond with their horses. The families were ecstatic to have the opportunity to work with these amazing women. Each arena had a professional Rodeo MC, who volunteered to help as well so when everyone was ready and after an official recognition the events began. The anticipation and excitement level was at a fever pitch as families, friends and other visitors rooted on and encouraged their children. As Amy had always said, the looks on the kids' faces were worth all of the hard work and effort. The Barrel racing events were well underway and going very well. The kids were doing great and the applause and cheers emanated through the entire facility. The stands were packed along with the fencing around both pens. The media was having a field day as they videoed the competition and randomly interviewed the families of the participants along with the and volunteers. One of the media team's reporter cornered Maddie, Amy and Lyndy for a quick catch up. "I have to tell you ladies, I have never covered anything like this. The families are so happy and proud and the kids are smiling so much, I bet their mouths hurt. And the volunteers are wonderful. So caring and encouraging, for once I am speechless. We will have so much tape it will take the editors a week to sort through it. Any comments?" Maddie and Lyndy smiled as there mom spoke proudly, "Well as everyone knows this all started years ago when Maddie was angry. She had begun participating in horse events and her two best friends, that had Downe's Syndrome couldn't. For those of us that know our daughter, she is pretty passionate and driven when she believes in something. So she found other kids with special needs and put together the first ever Special Kids Rodeo at our ranch and Equine Center. It went so well that she did it again and participation grew. Eventually over the years we had to move to a larger facility." The reporter smiled, "That is amazing. Maddie any comments?" With Lyndy's arm around her she spoke quietly, "I just wanted my friends and the others to enjoy what I was able to. I mean why can't they have a way to have fun participating in events that challenge them and feel that sense of accomplishment." The reporter smiled in agreement, "Well Mrs. Borden, I see what you mean. I am sure you ladies have some things to do so thank you."

The remainder of the first day went very well and much to Maddie's delight ran smoothly. She felt as though she had said thank you a hundred times to all of the people who volunteered, especially Gwen and Sylvia who were with the younger group helping out. She talked to a lot of reporters, special guest and the families of the participants throughout the day. She was able to catch almost every event in pieces and her smile was filling the arena all day. Ricky found her right before lunch and drug her to eat something. By the end of the day, the family gathered to head home. Wyatt and Lyndy had the twins and their boyfriends and Ty had the rest. As they arrived several of them had already fallen asleep. Since they had an early morning they had a light dinner and all went to bed. Amy and Ty had told the girls that Desi and Jeremy could stay and after a little of discussion with his parents, so did Ricky, although much to Maddie's regret he was with JT. She reasoned with her mom, "We are both so tired mom, we just need to sleep." Amy smiled understanding, "But honey we promised his parents." Wyatt was sitting up in bed looking over tomorrow's schedule and didn't notice Lyndy come to bed to join him. She cuddled closely as he talked about what they had to do. She seductively nibbled on his neck and he place the paper on the night stand. He rolled back over and found his beautiful fiancé sound asleep. He was not upset at the least and smiled as she laid there next to him peacefully. He looked at her beauty and was overwhelmed with his love for her. He pulled her in and they fell asleep together. Ty was also in bed looking over the things for tomorrow. Amy climbed into bed and he asked, "How did the horse bonding training session go with the younger kids this afternoon." A warm smile came over her face, "Ty, the girls did great, you should have seen them. Georgie and I watched from a far but unfortunately several of the parents saw us and came over. In order to not impact what the girls were doing, we came over and said a few things. They asked a lot of questions about Georgie's Olympic accomplishments as well as Annie's upcoming journey. But we cordially stepped away and let the session continue. Lyndy told me later that is was amazing, I am so proud of them." Ty smiled warmly and pulled his wife in kissing her forehead. "Well, they have a pretty good teacher and mom for sure. Watching you work with horses is why we are here today. And now watching the girls brings the memory back again." The laid quietly and Amy whispered, "The house sounds quiet, I expect we have a lot of tired people here. Are you tired?" He didn't answer but rolled over to kiss her deeply. She giggled, "I guess not." He continued as they each helped each other undress. They were so close their bodies felt like one. Ty continued to move from her lips to her neck and to her breast. He used his lips on them to bring Amy to an immediate orgasm and she moaned arching her back. He continued and moved his hands between her thighs to continue the pleasuring of his beautiful wife. Again he move in and out of her and her moaning continued. Her hips bucked as another climax came. She gathered herself, saw an opening and began to return the passion to him. She latched onto his lips as kissed him deeply, even taking him by surprise. She moved down his chest and past his taught stomach. He was helpless as she moved to his manhood using her lips and tongue to bring him to a place only she could. As she finished, she moved back up his body and moved to be on top of him slowly lowering herself onto him. They were both were ready as she moved up and down on him seductively. Again she arched her back as their moans were in sync. They continued for a while until they both knew it was time to release the love they were storing up. Together they exploded in their love for each other, breathing heavily and soaked in the perspiration of their love. After several more minutes she collapsed on him unable to speak. Finally Ty forced out some words to her, "Amy that was amazing, you are amazing. I love you more and more each day we are together." She smiled sliding off of him and laying by his side. "Well Dr. Borden, you aren't too bad yourself." She rolled over to face him cupping his face, "Ty, you are and will always be the love of my life and best friend. I love you Ty Borden." They held each other, pulled the sheets up and fell asleep. They would get dressed in the morning.

The next morning very early, the tired Borden kids and friends stumbled down to the family kitchen. Much to their surprise their mom and dad had a full breakfast ready to go and coffee and juice already poured. Ty smiled, "Big day today, everyone needs to eat up and get ready to leave." Amy laughed, "What dad means is that you may not eat enough today so fill up and we will be leaving in an hour. Lot's to do." They all smiled and dug in, not realizing how hungry they were. After everyone cleaned up and got ready they headed over to the event grounds. As they pulled up they already saw a lot of people mulling around getting ready for the day. They huddled as the family and Maddie smiled, "Well looks like we are ready to go. Does everyone have their list?" They all laughed shaking their heads yes. Before the went their way she added, "I love all of you very much, thanks for doing this." They all hugged as a teary eyed Amy held on to her husband, whispering, "That was nice." Amy and Georgie opened the outdoor arena as Maddie handled then indoor one. Today would be packed with events all day with the closing ceremony slated to start around 4:00pm and get everyone out by 5:00pm. The closer families would be heading home but many of the families with a longer drive were staying a day or two more. The company had offered tours of the different facilities on Monday and Tuesday for those who were first time visitors and many people took them up on it. The number one draw was the Equine Center, but the recently featured Rehoming Center was close behind. Ellory and the team were excited to show it to the visitors with the hopes of increasing the donation pool. Many wanted to see the Llama herd as well. The events scheduled for the day went well as the atmosphere continued to be exciting for both the families and the youngsters participating. As many would say and media would write about, the look on their faces was worth its weight in gold as they experienced the thrill of competing in front of a large and animated crowd. Everyone gathered for the closing ceremony, which was set up similarly to the opening night. The only difference was that this time, in front of the stage with the famliy and other guest stood every participant with their individual competition ribbons for each event and a large gold medal depicting the name, location of the event. The kids were excited as Lou, Amy, Lisa and finally Maddie talked. Congratulations and thanks went around to all and Maddie closed by saying, "I know many say this was an idea of mine many years ago. But today this has grown into much more than an idea of a little girl. It has become an event that is a benchmark for what all of us should do. We are all the same and I hope everyone leaves understanding that and paying it forward. Thanks again to all the participants and family, the volunteers and the political and corporate support. Everyone drive safe and have a great rest of your summer." Everyone applauded as she leaned into the microphone and yelled, "And by the way we are all going to be watching my sister, Annie win Olympic Gold in a month, so please make sure you root her on to victory!" After another large round of applause and loud yelling of "Go Canada," the crowd dispersed. They family on stage joined in a big hug as other members joined them. The Arena manager told the family that they would handle the cleanup so the family headed to Heartland for pizza and salads. It was a happy mood for everyone there which consisted of the main family group and a few others. They sat around talking about their favorite parts of the weekend when all of a sudden Annie stood up. "Oh my god Maddie, now I really have to do good. You told all of those people I would be the Gold Medal winner!" Everyone laughed as Amy, Ty and Georgie came over to settle her. Amy smiled, "You are ready Annie and are going to rock it." She smiled when Georgie added, "Well I agree with Maddie, you will win the gold!" Ty smiled as he pulled her in for a hug and proclaimed, "No pressure sweetie." Again the group laughed, it had been a great weekend.
