Ch 35 The Qualifying Rounds Part 2
Both Steven and Brawly sent out their first Pokemon onto the field.
On Steven's side, his Pokeball released a familiar metal bird Pokemon. The Skarmory that the Steel-blue haired boy caught released a powerful cry. The Armor Bird Pokemon spread out her wings, its metal coating shimmering in the daylight.
Brawly's Pokeball released a large light blue beetle-like Pokemon, posing his arms to show his strength.
"So, you're starting off with Heracross then, Brawly." Steven grins, knowing that both of their Pokemon will take normal damage due to their typing.
The Sky-blue haired trainer chuckles, crossing his arms. "Yeah Dude, I knew you would start with Skarmory," Brawly stated, "Let's see which of our first Pokemon would win."
Steven nodded, looking at the Referee to officially start the match.
The Referee raised his hands, "Battle begin!"

Steven/ Skarmory vs Brawly/ Heracross
"Skarmory, use Spikes!" Steven took the first strike, "Follow up with a Wing Attack!"
Skarmory cried, flying in the air and spreading out small steel spikes on the Battlefield before taking the skies.
Heracross looked around, seeing steel spread around the Battlefield.
Brawly chuckles, seeing the Spikes surrounding his side of the field. "So, setting up for chip damage, eh Steven?" He cracked his knuckles, grinning at the challenge. "That still won't stop us!" The young trainer exclaims.
"Heracross, use Arm Thrust to block the Wing Attack!" Brawly shouted, being creative with Heracross's Moves.
Heracross obliges, and both his arms took on an orange hue.
Skarmory flew down from the sky, swooping past the Bug/Fighting-type.
Heracross stumbles back, taking on double damage from Skarmory's typing.
"Heracross, you okay bud?" Brawly asked, fully aware that was a powerful attack on him.
The Single Horn Pokemon shook his head, regaining his stance. He huffs, shaking off the damage he'd taken. "Way to tough it out, Heracross! Let's counter Steven's Skarmory with Horn Attack!" Brawly cried out.
The Duel-type jumps into the air, thrusting his horn at Skarmory flying by.
Skarmory flinched, taking a bit of damage from the attack.
"Alright, Horn Attack once more!" Brawly punched the air,
Heracross fell to the ground before leaping to the air once more, he swung his head once more and hit Skarmory in the stomach.
Like last time Skarmory flinched, taking the same amount of damage.
"Skarmory, Steel Wing!" Steven held out his hand out.
Skarmory's wings took on a metallic coat, she loops around and dives down at the Single Horn Pokemon.
Brawly raised his hand, "Bullet Seed!" He quickly ordered his Duel-type Partner.
Heracross pulled his head back before shooting a barrage of seeds at the Steel/Flying-type Pokemon.
"Keep on course, Skarmory!" Steven shouted,
Skarmory swiftly dodges the seeds, like a fighter jet in the air. Soon she reached a good distance to Heracross,
"Pick up the speed!" Steven cried out as the Iron Armor Pokemon,
The Duel-type picked up speed, now hurling above the Battlefield ground at Heracross.
"Heracross, use Dig to dodge!" The Sky-blue haired trainer ordered, wanting Heracross to get out of the way.
Heracross raised his right arm and dug it into the field, he then quickly repeats the process until he dug his way under the field.
Skarmory swooped by, missing her target by a second. "Heh," Brawly smirked, seeing the Duel-type lifting into the air.
"Tch," Steven clicked his tongue, knowing Brawly would do something at the last minute.
Back in the audience, many people were shocked to see Heracross using Dig at the last minute,
"That was sure close," Jackie commented, still taken aback by Skarmory's close strike.
Helena nodded, agreeing with the blonde's comment. "Skin of the teeth is what they say," She added,
"Kirlia,"
Roxanne folded her legs and sat back. "Brawly is unpredictable, at the last moment when you think it over, he always has something up his sleeve." The brunette stated.
"That we can agree on," Flannery nodded, watching what would Steven do with Brawly's unpredictability. "What will Steven do? This is just the start of the match,"
Back on the Battlefield, Steven quickly scans the Battlefield wondering where Heracross could pop out. "Skarmory, keep a keen eye on where Heracross would pop up!" He warns his Pokemon.
Skarmory nodded, hearing his trainer's command. Her eyes look down at the ground, carefully observing the field. She flew just above the ground, trying to bait Heracross into attacking her.
The ground cracks as the Single Horn Pokemon bursts from the field. Brawly smirks, holding out his hand. "Arm Thrust, Heracross!"
The Duel-type's arms took on an orange hue and thrust both his arms at Skarmory.
Steven smirks, seeing Heracross take the bait. "Skarmory, lean to the right!" He cried out.
Skarmory dodged the Arm Thrust, putting him inches away from her body. "Now, Drill Peck!" Steven cried out.
A light blue aura appeared over Skarmory's beak and spun rapidly. The Iron Armor Pokemon thrust her beak at Heracross.
Heracross cried, taking the double damage from Skarmory's Drill Peck to his chest.
"Heracross!" Brawly cried out, seeing his Partner falling from the air.
Heracross fell to the ground, impacting it with a strong force.
Skarmory hovers above where Heracross crashed,
The Referee approached the crash zone, seeing the Duel-type's eyes spiraling. He raised his hand to Steven's side of the Battlefield. "Heracross is unable to Battle!"
"What a quick turnaround Skarmory with Drill Peck! Both trainers have trained their Pokemon well." The Commentator announced as Brawly calls back Heracross. "With one Pokemon down, Brawly has only two left while Steven has his three,"
"I had a feeling that might happen," Helena commented, seeing the outcome before the Battle was finished.
Flannery looked over to the former Witch, curious about what she meant by that. "Ellie, what do you mean?" She asked her friend.
Helena looks at her friends, ready to explain to them. "Steven sent out Skarmory, a Flying-type. Heracross is a Fighting and Bug-type Pokemon, if anything, Brawly is at a disadvantage." She stated, "The only way for Brawly to win this match is to take out Skarmory."
Her friends nodded, getting what she meant. "I see, no wonder Skarmory was sent out first," Roxanne commented.
"Brawly needs to take out Steven Skarmory or else," Jackie commented, curious how he would do that. "What Pokemon is he going to send out next."
Back on the field, Brawly smirks, gripping his next Pokeball, "Medicham! Let's go!" He tosses the Pokeball, releasing a humanoid Pokemon with a pin head and pants-like legs. Around his ankle is a bracelet made out of beads.
"Medicham," The Psychic/Fighting-type Pokemon came out on the field, spikes appeared on the ground and gave him a bit of damage when landing.
Brawly clicked his tongue, seeing Spikes won't disappear any time soon.
"So, you brought out Medicham next." Steven chuckles, seeing Brawly has thought this Battle through.
Brawly smirks, crossing his arms at his friend. "Dude, your reign over the air is over." He stated, pointing at Skarmory hovering above the Battlefield.
Steven scoffs, "We'll see about that, Brawly." He smirks,
The Referee raised both his hands before putting them down, "Battle begin!" He announced.
Steven/ Skarmory vs Brawly/ Medicham
"Skarmory! Wing Attack, let's go!" Steven cried out,
Skarmory screeched and dived toward the Duel-type Pokemon.
Brawly held out his hand, "Fire Punch!"
Medicham pulls back his arms, creating a fireball on his fist. "Medi…"
Steven's eyes widen, knowing that was Skarmory's weakness. "Skarmory, fly up! Now!" He shouted, wanting his Partner to get out of the way.
Skarmory heard her trainer calling out to her, she promptly followed his orders and rose up.
However, Medicham leaps in the air, pulling back his arm and propels his fist at the Duel-type. As a result, Skarmory took on the full force of the Fire-type move causing her to fall from the sky.
"Skarmory!" Steven watches as his Partner crashed into the field and the Meditate Pokemon landed in front of her.
The Referee approached the two Pokemon, seeing that Skarmory is unable to continue. He raised his hand to Steven's side of the field, "Skarmory is unable to Battle!"
"What a quick round! That Fire Punch was so hot that I could feel it from here!" The Commentator announced, "Now both sides have two Pokemon left, leaving them tied."
Steven smiles that Brawly was taking this seriously, he took out Skarmory's Pokeball and held it out. "Great job, Skarmory, you deserve a rest."
A red beam of light went for the Iron Armor Pokemon, returning her inside.
Steven placed the Pokeball on his belt before taking out his next Pokemon. "Claydol, you're up!" He tosses his next Pokeball onto the field,
The Pokeball released a large clay doll Pokemon with pink eyes around the head. "Dol!" The Ground/Psychic-type Pokemon cried out.
Jackie took out his green Rotom Phone, aiming it at Steven's Claydol.
-ZZZ- Claydol, the Clay Doll Pokemon. A Ground and Psychic-type Pokemon -ZZZ-
-ZZZ- An ancient clay figurine was exposed to a mysterious ray of light, and it came to life as a Pokémon. -ZZZ-
"So that's a Claydol." The blonde boy commented, seeing one for the first time. "I've never seen one in person before," Jackie added, placing back his Rotom Phone in his pocket.
Helena blinks, looking at Jackie next to her. "Really? I thought you read about them in class." The former Witch asked.
Jackie smiles brightly, "That's different from seeing one in person, Helena." He chuckles,
"Ah, I see," Helena responded,
Kirlia tugs on her trainer's sleeve, pointing to the Battlefield. "Kirlia, Kirl," She spoke out to gain her attention.
"Hey, they're about to start the next round," Flannery called the two, motioning her head to the Battlefield.
Jackie and Helena turn their heads back to the Battle, seeing it is just beginning.
Brawly got two Pokeballs in his hand, he held out the one on his right and aimed it at Medicham. "Alright, Medicham return." He calls back his Pokemon, switching to his next one.
The Sky-blue haired trainer grips the Pokeball in his left hand, "Hariyama! Let's go!" He tossed his Pokeball on the field, releasing a large humanoid Pokemon with large hands.
"Hari!" The Arm Thrust Pokemon slams his foot on the ground, ready to Battle. He flinched, taken on the damage from the Spikes of the field.
"Brawly has switched out Medicham for Hariyama!" The Commentator announced.
Steven/ Claydol vs Brawly/ Hariyama
"Hariyama, Heavy Slam!" Brawly cried out,
"Hari!" Th Arm Thrust Pokemon leaps in the air, his body took on a metallic aura and plummets to Claydol.
Steven quickly acted, holding out his hand to his Partner. "Claydol, use Reflect!"
"Claydol!" The Clay Doll Pokemon raised his numbs, generating a clear barrier before them.
"YAMA!" Hariyama slammed on top of Claydol, however, it was deflected by the Reflect that Claydol set up.
The Arm Thrust Pokemon leaps back in front of Brawly,
Steven saw an opening and acted on his instincts. "Claydol, follow up with Confusion!" He ordered,
"Claydol!" Claydol's numbs aimed for Hariyama, releasing two multicolored beams at Hariyama.
"Hariyama, dodge it!" Brawly cried out to his main Partner.
Hariyama leaps to the side, dodging the first Confusion however the second one manages to get his back.
Brawly steps forward, seeing the attack did major damage to his Partner, "Hariyama!" He gritted his teeth before going to his next play. "Okay, my Dude use Bulk up, followed by an Ice Punch!" He shouted.
"Hari!" The Fighting-type flexed his muscles, gaining some extra boost to his attack. "Yama!" Hariyama clutches his fist, generating an icy aura,
Hariyama rushed towards Claydol, pulling back his fist. "Hariyama!" He propels his Ice Punch at the Duel-type.
"Reflect!" Steven quickly cried,
Once again, Claydol brought up a clear barrier before him and deflected the Ice Punch and freezing over. The barrier froze over before shattering,
"Alright, Brick Break, let's go!" The Sky-blue haired trainer shouted, keeping up the momentum.
"Hari!" Hariyama's large hands glowed an orange hue and swiftly slash Claydol.
"Teleport!" Steven cried out,
Claydol vanished before the Brick Break could land a hit on him. "Dol!"
Hariyama landed back on the field, waiting for the next move from Claydol.
The Steel-blue haired trainer held out his hand, "Claydol, Hyper Beam!" Steven quickly ordered.
"Clay!" Claydol positions his numbs at Hariyama, gathering up energy for Hyper Beam.
"Like we're going to let the Hyper Beam charge up," Brawly smirked, eyeing his Partner on the Battlefield. "Hariyama, double Brick Break again!"
"Hariyama!" The Fighting-type's hands turned an orange hue, leaping towards the Clay Doll Pokemon.
Claydol's Hyper Beam was fully charged, "Clay…" He aims his numbs at Hariyama coming towards him.
"Do it!" Steven cried out,
Both Claydol and Hariyama's attacks clashed with each other, causing a huge explosion mid-air.
Back at the stands, everyone only saw a huge dust cloud blocking their view of the Battle. "What happened? Who won?" Flannery asked, unsure what was going on the field.
"Not sure, but the dust cloud is clearing." Roxanne points to the dissipating dust cloud,
Everyone watched carefully as the dust cloud revealed the outcome between Hariyama and Claydol. Their eyes widen as both Pokemon manage to bring each other down.
"Both Pokemon have knocked each other out! A double knockout!" The Commentator announced, only seeing this outcome a few times during his career. "Both trainers showed that they have trained their Pokemon well for this result. Now both sides have one Pokemon left to use."
Steven smiles, holding out Claydol's Pokeball to his partner. "Great job out there, Claydol." He said, happy that the Duel-type went all out. "Take the time to rest,"
Brawly chuckles, holding out Hariyama's Pokeball towards him. "Take a long rest, my Dude. You were rad out there."
"This is the final round between the two of them," Helena commented, seeing both of her friends calling back their Pokemon.
"Kirlia…" The Emotion Pokemon nodded, wondering who would come out to face the Elite Four.
Jackie crossed his arms, watching the two take out their next and last Pokeball for their match. "Both of them prove they are strong, but only one can come on top." The blonde stated before the Commentator went back on the speaker.
"Now's the moment of truth, with both Competitors having one Pokemon each." The Commentator announced, "Who will earn the right to challenge the Elite Four and the Champion? Well, there's only one way to find out!"
Back on the Battlefield, the Referee looked at each trainer, seeing if they were ready to continue the Battle. "If you two are ready, please bring out your last Pokemon!"
Steven smiles, pulling back his arm with his next Pokemon. "Metagross, let's go!" He tosses his Pokeball, releasing his Partner onto the Battlefield.
"Meta!" A white four-legged machine-like Pokemon appeared before Steven. On his face was a golden X at the center, and around his right leg, was a large metal bracelet with a stone embedded in the cross-section.
The gem was a teal color with a silver and gold flame at the center.
"Medicham, it's the final round!" Brawly tosses his Pokeball onto the field, releasing the Meditate Pokemon once more.
Medicham landed on one foot, ready to Battle once more. 'Medicham!" He flinched, taking on a bit of damage too from Spikes.
The Referee raised his hands before placing them down. "Battle begin!" He announced.
Steven/ Metagross vs Brawly/Medicham
"Medicham, let's make this quick!" Brawly smirks before punching the air, "Fire Punch, let's go!" He cried out,
"Medi…" The Duel-type pulls back his arm, igniting it with flames. He leaps forward, ready to punch the Steel/Psychic-type. "Cham!"
Steven chuckles, "Too slow," He looks up at his Partner, "Metagross!"
Just as Medicham was about to punch the Iron Leg Pokemon, Metagross's eyes glowed.
In a split second, Metagross vanished before everyone's eyes. "What!?" Brawly steps back, shocked to see Steven's Partner gone.
Medicham punched the ground, leaving a small burnt area where his opponent once stood. "Medi?" He looks around, trying to find Metagross. "Cham?"
Suddenly, Metagross appeared behind the Meditate Pokemon. Steven smirks, and holds out his hand, "Metagross, Meteor Mash!"
"Meta!" Metagross's arm glowed a yellow hue before speeding toward Medicham, punching him to the side. "Meta!"
"Medicham!" Medicham bit his lips before catching himself from tumbling.
"Metagross is sure fast, I didn't even see him moving an inch when Medicham came close to him," Flannery commented on the Duel-type's speed. "How is he so fast?"
"I remember that Steven was going to work on Metagross's speed back at the school," Helena answered the red-haired girl's question.
Kirlia nodded, seeing the results of his training before her. "Kirlia,"
Jackie crosses his arms, seeing the threat Metagross poses to Brawly and Medicham. "Steven has his cards in the right places, no wonder he has his main Partner last." The blonde commented.
Roxanne agrees with her friend, "Don't forget, Medicham has taken damage from the Spikes two times already and from Meteor Mash." The brunette stated. "It'll be a miracle if Brawly has something up his sleeves,"
Brawly saw how fast Metagross was, "How do you like it, Brawly?" The Sky-blue haired trainer looks at his friend, smirking at him. "Metagross received special training that increases his speed during Battles, I've been saving him last."
"Gotta say, I'm impressed. Me and my Pokemon train in strength and other situations." Brawly answered back, "But speed isn't everything, Steven!" He looks at the Duel-type, waiting for his orders.
"Medicham, Aura Sphere!" Brawly cried out,
"Medi…" Medicham channels his energy into his hand, and a blue sphere appeared between his hands. "Cham!" He propels the Aura Sphere at Metagross with great speed,
Steven acted quickly, seeing how fast the Move was going. "Psychic!"
Metagross's eyes and the X on his face glowed a light blue hue. "Meta."
The Aura Sphere stopped in the middle of its path. "Redirect it back!" Steven spoke,
The Iron Leg Pokemon's eyes glowed as the Aura Sphere was propelled back to Medicham.
"Confusion, let's go!" Brawly shouted,
"Medicham!" The Meditate Pokemon clasped his hands together, the same aura appeared around his body. He shot his eyes at the incoming Aura Sphere and cause it to dissipate.
Brawly quickly acted on the moment he has, "Follow up with another Aura Sphere. This time a barrage!"
Medicham gathered a tremendous amount of energy into his center before releasing at least five Aura Spheres,
"Metagross," Steven smiles, knowing what to do in that situation.
"Meta!" Once again, Metagross's X and eyes glowed a light blue hue, catching the five Aura Spheres. He then propels them back at their owner causing a huge explosion.
Suddenly a trail of dust emerges from the cloud, "High Jump Kick!" Brawly ordered.
"Medicham!" Using gravity to his advantage, Medicham propels down the air and slams into Metagross's head.
"Meta!" The Duel-type groans, taking on damage from the Fighting-type Move.
"Metagross!" Steven steps forward, before seeing Medicham leaping back to Brawly. He smirks, seeing another opening. "Alright Metagross, Psychic on Medicham!"
Metagross shook his head before complying with his Partner's wishes.
Just as Medicham was about to land on the ground, his body took on a light blue hue. "Medicham?" In a quick motion, he was slammed into the field with enough force to leave cracks.
"No! Medicham!" Brawly gritted his teeth, seeing his Partner staggering on his feet.
The Sky-blue haired trainer sighs, reaching for the hidden dog tag around his neck, "Well, I have to admit. You are good, Steven." Brawly lets out a small chuckle, eyeing Medicham on the Battlefield.
Medicham nodded, understanding what was coming.

"However, I had a feeling that you train your hardest but…" Brawly rips off the dog tag from his neck,
Medicham lifts his leg with the band around it, revealing that it was connected to a blue stone with dark pink and orange flame within it.
"Is that a-" A glimmer of sunlight caught Steven's attention, embedded in Brawly's dog tag was a rainbow-colored stone.
Brawly tosses his dog tag in the air before catching it. "I came prepared!" He grips the tag, causing a bright light to shine within his hand.
In response to the light, the Medichamite on Medicham's leg glowed as well,
The light from both Mega Stone and Key Stone soon connected, causing the Duel-type to glow. "Medicham! Show them who's the raddest Pokemon!" Brawly held out his Mega Tag to his Partner.
"Medicham!" Brawly then moves his arms to the side dramatically, "Mega Evolve!" His cries echo throughout the Stadium.
"Medi…" Medicham's body grew a bit, his head changed into a head tunic, and four ribbon-like appendages appeared, floating behind the Duel-type's back.
"Cham!" The light disbursed, causing the Mega Evolution Symbol to appear before Medicham.
"I-IT'S MEGA MEDICHAM!" (End song)
