AN: This is it, the final Chapter of Helena's Apprenticeship. The next Arc is all Hoenn, along with a few drama and more cute moments with Steven and Helena with something special. Anyway, enjoy the chapter.
Ch 78 Two New Discoveries
In Naranja Academy, Steven walks out of his Class having finished the Class. He smiles, walking down the halls having learned what he needed when he goes back to Hoenn. "So, this is where you spend your Free time when Ellie was busy."
Steven turns around, hearing his Cousin speaking behind him. "Grusha," He saw the Steel-blue-haired trainer leaning against the wall. "What are you doing here?"
Grusha smirks, standing before his Cousin. "I was curious what you're doing now that everyone has gone to the Great Crater." He looks at the Hoenn Champion, seeing some books on Pokemon Government and other politics. "After all that, why are taking a Government Class when the Pokemon League already governs the Regions?" The Ice-type trainer asked,
Steven smiles, looking at the Class he exited. "Even so, I feel like there's more I can do to make Hoenn better." He said, sharing his goal with his Cousin. "Like making Trainer Schools in every City, ensuring no Pokemon nor People gets mistreated, and many more."
"Man, that's some dream, Stevie," Grusha commented, never expecting this from the young Hoenn Champion. "So, tell me what made you think this way?"
"Not sure, but I think seeing Ellie working hard for her own goals inspired me to do my best as Champion," Steven said, inspired by his Girlfriend to expand his goals. "And seeing I'm in a position of power, I can do what I do to help Hoenn and the other Regions develop further."
Grusha chuckles, seeing that Steven has become someone different from the last time he saw him. "You, Steven Arthur P. Stone are one serious dreamer." He commented, using his full name.
Steven smiles, accepting that compliment from his Cousin. "I take that as a compliment, Grusha." He said with a light chuckle accompanying it.
Back in the Great Crater within Area Zero, the entire Students have encountered some Ancient Forms of Pokemon. However, one peculiar group has encountered an Ancient Pokemon that no one would suspect.
"Riakou," N said, seeing the Ancient Form of the Legendary Pokemon. "One of Johto's Legendary Trio," The green-haired trainer said. He recognized the color and the similar shape of the Thunder Pokemon.
"Out of every Ancient Pokemon that resides in Area Zero we could encounter," Rika watches in awe at the sight before them. "We would encounter an Ancient form of a Legendary Pokemon."
Kirlia was at a loss for words, mesmerized by the Ancient form of the Pokemon. "Kirlia…"
For the most part, Helena was surprised by the similarities between the Ancient Pokemon and another Extinct Creature in this World. 'The Ancient form of Raikou kinda looks like…Aurous. Does that mean Raikou and the Aurous line?' She thought, studying the Pokemon from afar.
'On top of that, it looks like a Brontosaurus.' Helena observed how the Ancient Raikou bent his neck to the watering hole and took a sip. Despite the similarities, it's still a magnificent sight to behold.
The group continued to watch the Ancient Legendary Pokemon, watching how it lived as it did in the Past. A few seconds have passed, and N quickly realizes that they haven't completed the second task that comes with finding an Ancient Pokemon.
"We almost forgot to take a Photo." N reminds the Girls what they were missing. He lifts his Smartphone, ready to take a photo of the Ancient Pokemon.
"Right, thanks for the reminder, N," Rika said, taking out her Rotom Phone to snag a photo as well in case both Helena and N's cameras weren't working.
Helena nodded, lifting her Rotom Phone and aimed it at the Ancient Raikou ready to take the photo. "Just wait until we get back to Professor Ceder and Sada, they'll probably flip when we show this to them." She commented,
Kirlia nodded, picturing the Adults' faces, shocked and in awe of the Ancient Raikou. "Kirlia," She giggles at the image she made.
"Yeah, they would be really excited by this." Raikou smiles, lifting her Rotom Phone to take a photo.
The three were about to take a photo of the Ancient Raikou when a sudden roar came from behind them.
Coming from the other side of the watering hole. Helena looked at her group, thinking they heard it. "Uh…you two heard that?" Helena asked the two.
"Yeah, where did that roar come fr-THERE!" Rika quickly pointed to the top of the waterfall, where another Ancient Pokemon appeared.
The three gaze upwards, seeing a Pokemon similar in shape to a Utahraptor. It has purple flowing hair, blue and white scales, and a long tail that looks like it is swaying in the wind, but the thing that stood out the most was the large long hexagonal crest on his forehead.
The Ancient Raikou looks up from the watering hole, seeing the arrival of the new Ancient Pokemon. He lets out a mighty roar that sounds like thunder,
In response to the Ancient Raikou's roar, he responded by roaring at him back.
Helena's group watched in awe at the two Ancient Pokemon roaring at each other.
Suddenly the Utahraptor-like Pokemon leaps down from the top of the waterfall, attacking the Ancient Raikou.
The Ancient Raikou steps back, making some space between him and the Ancient Pokemon. Electricity sparks throughout the body of Raikou, intimidating the Pokemon.
"That Pokemon attacking the Ancient Raikou. It looks like Suicune." N spoke, seeing the Ancient Pokemon carefully heading close to the other Ancient Pokemon.
Seeing the sudden action from the Ancient Suicune, N got up from his knees. "That Ancient Suicune is going to attack the Ancient Raikou!" The green-haired trainer said, taking out his Pokeball.
Rika saw N taking out his Pokeball, knowing what he was doing from the moment he took out the Pokeball. "N! What are you doing!?" The dark green-haired trainer asked.
"Suicune is in trouble, I can't just sit here and watch!" N stated, showing his compassion for Pokemon who are in need. "I'm going," He quickly rushed towards the two Ancient Pokemon.
Rika sighs, unable to stop N from heading to protect the Ancient Raikou. She turns to Helena and Kirlia who were about to join N. "Don't tell me you're going after him too, Ellie?" She asked,
Helena held Kirlia with one arm before taking out another of her Pokeballs. "I have to," She turns to the dark green-haired trainer. "N can be reckless nowadays regarding saving Pokemon." She commented,
Rika sighs, looking at N, being this close to the two Ancient Pokemon. "Alright, there's nothing to do here but to help out." She commented, smirking as she took out her own Pokeball.
The Girls then followed N, assisting him to help the Ancient Raikou.
At the Watering hole, the Ancient Raikou roars while backing up away from. His body generated electricity as the Ancient Suicune landed in front of him.
The Ancient Raikou roars, using Thunderbolt to try and scare him.
However the Ancient Suicune dodged each one of the bolts, he quickly went to the side, ready to attack when…
"Klinklang, use Charge Beam!" A giant Gear-like Pokemon appeared above the Ancient Pokemon.
"Klinklang," The pure Steel-type shot a pale yellow beam at the Ancient Suicune.
The Ancient Suicune dodged the Charge Beam, landing on the Watering hole's surface. He looks up, seeing the Gear Pokemon hovering above his prey.
Soon N joined his Pokemon, defending the Ancient Raikou from the Ancient Suicune. "Klinklang…" Klinklang floated down next to N, protecting him and the Ancient Raikou.
"Great Suicune, please stand down." N reason for the Water/Dragon-type Pokemon, not wanting to engage in Battle. "I wish for no harm to any Pokemon; I understand that it's your way since Prehistoric times to hunt, but in this Day and Age, there's no need to-"
The Ancient Suicune roars, his primal instincts got in the way of N's Ability to communicate with them. He opened his mouth, and a glowing orb of water appeared in the mouth.
He then aims it at N and his Klinklang, releasing the Hydro Stream at him.
"Klin!" Klinklang got in front of his Friend, using Hyper Beam to counter the Attack.
Both Attacks collided, however, the Ancient Move had more power than the Hyper Beam.
The Hydro Stream blasted through the Hyper Beam, blasting Klinklang back and away from N. The green-haired trainer followed where the Gear Pokemon was blasted away. "Klinklang!" He cried out, turning back to the Ancient Suicune.
N clicked his tongue, seeing the Ancient Suicune was ready to use the same Attack again. He looks back at the Ancient Raikou, "Go! Get out of here while you still can!" N said to the Ancient Pokemon.
The Ancient Pokemon just looked at the Human, then looked back at the Ancient Suicune. He roars, generating more electricity from his Body. He then released a powerful Thunderbolt, rushing towards the Duel-type.
The Dragon/Water-type released another Hydro Stream, and both Attacks collided causing a miniature explosion.
"Go, before Suicune gets you," N shouted, giving the time to the Ancient Pokemon to run.
Just when N thought he had plenty of time for the Ancient Raikou to escape, the Ancient Suicune leaps from within the steam, about to strike N.
"Dratini, protect N!" Helena cried out,
Dratini swiftly rushed over to N and the Ancient Raikou, she cried as her Body took a green hue. The aura around the Dragon-type soon enlarges, creating a shield for N and the Ancient Pokemon.
The Hydro Stream made contact with Dratini's Protect, unable to reach his target.
N turns around, seeing his Sister and Friend standing at the entrance of the Forest. "Helena, Rika, what are you doing?" He asked the two Girls.
"Saving you from doing something foolish!" Helena shouted, scolding her Brother.
Kirlia nodded, agreeing with her Partner. "Kirlia!"
Rika ran forward, pulling back her arm with her Pokeball in hand. "Clodsire, let's do this!" She tosses her Partner's Pokeball onto the Field, releasing the Poison/Ground-type.
The Pokemon that Rika sent out was small and brown like mud. He was lying on the ground with four little legs on his side. A long club as a tail, "Clod…"
The Spiny Fish Pokemon's mouth opened wide, attempting to make himself larger than the Ancient Suicune.
The Ancient Suicune steps forward, not affected by the scare tactic. He roars, intimidating the Pokemon that was protecting his Prey.
Helena and Rika quickly join N, standing before the Ancient Raikou. "N, don't just go running off like that. If you keep doing that, you're going to get yourself hurt!" The black-haired trainer scolded her Brother.
"Ellie's right, we're in a dangerous area of Paldea," Rika commented, ready to Battle against the Ancient Suicune. "Now, let's give this Ancient Pokemon a run for its money."
N nodded, seeing that both Rika and Helena were willing to protect the Ancient Raikou. "Alright, I'm in."
Helena smiles, holding out her hand to her Partner. "Dratini, drive the Ancient Suicune with a Dragon Rush!" She ordered her Partner.
"Clodsire, use Sludge Wave to support Dratini!" Rika added, doubling their Attacks to drive the Duel-type away.
N smiles, glaring at the Ancient Suicune. "Klinklang, join in with Thunderbolt!" He raised his hand, ordering his Friend.
Dratini cries, her Body takes on a bluish hue and dashes for the Ancient Suicune.
"Clodsire!" Clodsire raised his head, purple sludge spewing out underneath him as it rushed for the Ancient Pokemon.
"Klin…" Klinklang's entire Body sparks before releasing a bolt of lighting at the Duel-type.
The Ancient Suicune roars, using Hydro Stream to counter the Attacks.
Dratini went straight for the Hydro Stream, her Dragon Rush was protecting her Body from the Water Attack. However, the Attack was pushing the Dragon Pokemon back,
"You can do it, Dratini!" Helena cried out, giving her Pokemon the support she needed.
"Kirlia!" Kirlia joins in, believing in her fellow Pokemon.
Dratini heard her Partners cheering for her, this prompted the Dragon Pokemon to push herself. She cried, pushing through the Hydro Stream.
This causes the Dragon-type Pokemon to glow,
Helena gasps, seeing what's happening to her Pokemon. "D-Dratini…" She watches as Dratini's Body becomes longer, her fins grow larger and now growing a horn.
"Helena…your Dratini…" Rika smiles, seeing the Dragon Pokemon changing before them.
"She's Evolving," N said, seeing the light disburse, revealing the next stage of Dratini.
The now-Evolved Dratini, no Dragonair cried out a beautiful melody as her Dragon Rush broke through the Hydro Stream.
Dragonair slams into the Ancient Raikou, causing him to lose his balance.
The Sludge Wave splashes underneath the two Attacks, making its way to the Ancient Suicune. While that happened, the Thunderbolt hurls straight for him,
It stuck the Ancient Pokemon, causing it to cry in pain. The Sludge Wave helped by making him slip to the ground.
Still not done, the Ancient Suicune roars once more ready to attack.
"The Ancient Suicune's not done fighting-huh? Dratini-I mean Dragonair?" Helena looks up, seeing her Pokemon flying above them.
Dragonair cries, indicating to them to leave this to her. Hearing what she said, Helena nodded, "Alright Dragonair, show us what you can do!" Helena smiles, having faith in her Pokemon.
"Kirlia!" Kirlia watched as Dragonair took to the skies.
Rika steps forward, looking up at Dragonair. "What is Dragonair doing?" She asked while Clodsire flops his way to the dark green-haired trainer.
N looks up, seeing Dragonair use Dragon Dance before raising her head. "She's using a new Move," He commented, watching as she twisted her Body.
The winds spun around the Dragon Pokemon, creating a twister that looped around, heading straight for the Ancient Suicune. "It's Twister!" N shouted,
Helena smiles, "You learned a new Move!" She cheered, watching her Pokemon hurl straight for the Ancient Suicune.
The Ancient Suicune saw the Twister heading straight for him. He responded by using Outrage to counter the Attack.
However, Dragonair maneuvers through the Outrage as she makes the final descent. With a quick strike, the Ancient Suicune was propelled back to the rocky wall of the Watering Hole,
The Ancient Suicune groans, taking damage from three Attacks from three different Pokemon.
Dragonair hovered above the ground with Klinklang while Clodsire flops over to them.
N steps forward, joining the Pokemon's lineup. "I ask you again, please retreat, Great Suicune. We don't want to hurt you anymore." His eyes soften, not wanting to harm the Ancient Pokemon.
The Ancient Suicune just stares at the Pokemon trainers, seeing that he's outmatched and outnumbered if he were to continue. Seeing nothing else to do, the Ancient Suicune left the area.
Everyone watched as the Ancient Suicune got up and left the Watering Hole.
Helena let out a deep sigh as the situation ended, "T-That was…something exciting and frightening." She chuckles,
"Kirlia," Kirlia nodded, agreeing with her trainer.
"Yeah, couldn't agree more, Kirlia." Helena smiles, patting her Partner's head. She looks up, seeing her Evolved Pokemon coming towards her. "Dragonair, you were amazing." She smiles, reaching her hand to her Partner.
Dragonair leans in, feeling her trainer pet her. She gave a cheerful cry from her touch.
Rika smiles, walking up to Helena and her Dragonair. "Congrats, Ellie. Your Dratini Evolved into a Dragonair." She said, looking at the Dragon Pokemon. "You have a powerful Pokemon in your team, ain't that right Clodsire?" She looks down at her own Partner.
"Clod!" The Mud Fish Pokemon commented, agreeing with his Partner.
N nodded, looking up at the slender Dragon-type Pokemon. "Yes, Dragonair's scales are shining in the Sunlight and they're smooth." The green-haired commented, learning all this from his Classes at the Academy. "Truly, they show how much of a strong Bond you two have for each other." He said to his Sister.
Helena smiles, blushing from the compliments. "Aw, thank you, N." She said, appreciating what he said.
The green-haired trainer gave a light laugh, seeing the expression his Sister gave. "Anytime, Helena," N responded before hearing a cough from the side. The two looked to the side, seeing Rika placing her hand on her hips.
"Hate to interrupt this Sibling moment but the Ancient Raikou has already left," Rika commented, pointing her thumb at the now empty space where the Ancient Raikou was.
"WHAT!?" Helena exclaims, causing Kirlia to cover her ears. "How come you didn't tell us, Rika!? We should've gotten a picture before they left!" She complains.
Kirlia glares at Helena for practically blowing her eardrums. "Kirlia, Kirlia," She pouts.
Dragonair smiles, seeing both her closest Friends being themselves.
N held his hand out, calming Helena down from her panic. "Helena, calm down. We can always look for another Ancient Pokemon in the area." The former King of Team Plasma said, trying to make the situation better. "Besides, there's a whole lot we didn't see yet-"
"But it's almost five o'clock!" Helena said, reminding the group of the time.
N blinks, realizing they have already passed the time during their Battle to protect the Ancient Raikou. "We were preoccupied protecting Raikou from Suicune, I didn't realize we'd spent that much time doing so we forgot to take a Photo." The green-haired trainer commented.
Klinklang floated next to his Partner, seeing the disappointment on his face. "Klang…"
Rika then smirks, holding up her Rotom Phone. "Well, I guess we don't need the photos I was able to snag before you two ran off to save the day." The dark green-haired trainer commented, showing the photo of both the Ancient Raikou and Suicune.
"You were able to take the Photos, Rika!?" Helena exclaimed, both shocked and relieved at the same time that they wouldn't fail such an important assignment.
"I had a hunch you would do something like that," N said, having a feeling that was the case when she showed up a bit late.
Helena approaches Rika, wanting to see the Photos she has taken during their Battle. "May I see the Photos, Rika?" She asked her Friend.
N nodded, also curious what the Photos. "I too want to see what they look like," He looks over to Rika,
Rika smiles, opening the Photo App on her Rotom Phone to show her Friends the Photos she took of the Ancient Pokemon.
The first one was the Ancient Raikou, drinking from the Watering Hole where the Sunlight shines down at a perfect angle.
The next one is the Ancient Suicune, standing on the Waterfall. The Sunlight was at another perfect angle shining down on him. The Siblings and their Pokemon were impressed by the Photos Rika had taken, believing that they could pass the assignment with this.
"These are great," Professor Adam said, looking at the two Photos.
The group returned after the time limit was up. Rika, Helena, and N showed the Photos to the Professors, just as everybody did. "This could pass as a professional Photographer's work." Adam looks up at Rika, seeing her talent in Photography. "Good job, Rika."
Rika smiles, pulling back her hair. "Thanks, Professor."
"As for you two," Professor Sada joins them, having already seen the Photos. "You did great in protecting Raikou from Suicune. But considering that these two are Ancient versions of the two Legendary Pokemon, they need proper names instead of Ancient Suicune and Raikou."
N raised his eyebrow at the grey-brown-haired Professor. "Proper names?" He asked.
"Like Great Tusk, Flutter Mane, or Scream Tail." Professor Sada explains what she means to N. "These two are new in the Pokedex entry."
"Ah, I understand." The green-haired trainer said, taking a look at the Photo.
The blue and blonde-haired Professor looks at his other Student, "So, any ideas N on the name?" Adam asked the former King of Team Plasma, handing him the Rotom Phone.
Looking at the Photo, N saw the Ancient Suicune. The sight of the Ancient Pokemon standing on the water reminds him of the Legends he heard about it. "Walking Wake,"
Everyone blinks, surprised to hear the name N gave to the Ancient Suicune. "Walking Wake? Any reason why you name it that?" Carmen asked the former King.
"Walking, since he has the same ability as Suicune to walk on water. Wake since he's the first to be able to walk on Water, before the Suicune we know." N continued, explaining to them why he named it.
"Interesting…I like it," Adam chuckles as Carmen writes down the name on the tablet. "What about the Ancient Raikou?" He asked,
N ponders before looking at Helena and Rika, "It's only right for Helena and Rika to name him," He said, wanting to share the credit with them. "I can't take all the credit."
The Professors look at the two Girls, waiting for either of them to say something.
Rika smiles, waving her hand at them. "I already have taken the Photos; Helena should be the one to name Raikou." The dark-green-haired trainer said.
"Are you sure, Rika?" Helena asked, receiving a nod from her. She looks at N, handing her the Rotom Phone on the Photo of Raikou.
"Here," N said,
Helena took a look at the Photo; she noticed how the mane was like thunder clouds. His coat was like Lightning bolts raging around the body. "Raging Bolt,"
"Raging, because the coat and the eyes are like raging bolts of Lightning and Bolt." Helena looks up, smiling softly at the last name of the Ancient Raikou. "Since it's an Electric-type."
Both Adam and Carmen looked at each other, hearing the names the young Researchers gave the new Pokemon. "Great names, both of you. You all did well on your assignment," Professor Sada said,
"Yes, those names for those Pokemon fit perfectly," Adam commented, crossing his arms. "This proves that you two are capable of being Researchers in your own right. Awesome job,"
"And Helena, you officially completed your Apprenticeship." The young Professor said, seeing the excitement on his now former Apprentice's face. "All you need to do now is to pass the examination to officiate your tile as Professor," He said, proud of what Helena had accomplished.
"Thank you, Professors." Helena turns to N, excited that they passed the assignment. "We did it, N! We've passed the final assignment!"
N chuckles, happy to see that Helena is happy. "Yeah, we did great out there. I too felt like I accomplished something," He said,
Suddenly, Rika grabs hold of the Siblings, sharing their excitement for passing the assignment. "Of course we did! We make the best team," She commented, "Next stop, graduation!"
"Yeah!" Both N and Helena responded, celebrating with Rika.
Later that night, Helena and Steven met telling each other of their day.
Steven smiles, looking at his Girlfriend. "I heard that you guys made a grand discovery." He commented, hearing the talk of the Students around the Academy.
Helena nods, "That's right, to think that we would encounter two never seen before Pokemon in Area Zero." The black-haired Girl said, getting closer to Steven as they watched the Stars. "I still can't believe after a few months we're going to graduate."
"I can," Helena looks at Steven, looking at the Stars in the night sky. "We've worked hard during our time in the Academy. Many people feel like once they finish something, they feel they still have things to do but they don't."
The black-haired trainer nodded, understanding what he meant. "I guess I'm not the only one who feels that way," Helena said before asking Steven something. "Hey, Steven. Do you have anything to do when we go back to Hoenn?"
Steven ponders on that thought for a moment before answering Helena. "Not anything major, I have my duties as Champion to return to. There's still Caves in Hoenn I want to explore and I have my Father's company to help from time to time." He said, explaining what he had planned when they got back. "What about you? Anything you have planned now that you're done with your Apprenticeship?" He asked.
"Of course, I plan to find a place where I can set up my Pokemon Lab. N probably will join me as my Assistant." Helena explains, smiling at the thought of having her own place. She does have the money and knows how to take care of herself and her Pokemon.
However, the only problem she has to face is to find the right place to set up her Lab.
"Helena, is there something on your mind?" The Steel-blue-haired Champion asked.
"I was thinking about where I could find a place to set up a Lab when we get back to Hoenn," Helena explains to her Boyfriend her plan and the problem to him,
Steven leans in, kissing her cheeks catching her off guard, "Steven?" Helena asked, wondering why he kissed her. "Why did you-"
Steven gave a warm smile, "Just a bit of luck for the future, Ellie." He said, causing Helena's cheeks to blush red. "If you need anything, just tell me. I like to help with your dream." He said, genuinely wanting to be his Girlfriend and achieve her goals since he completed his own already.
"T-Thank you, Steven; but try not to help too much?" Helena asked innocently, "I want to do this on my own," She opened her eyes, flinching at the sight.
"Oh…" Steven's expression saddened, hearing what Helena said. "B-But…all I want to do is to help you, Ellie…" He pouts, looking at the black-haired Girl.
Helena blinks, seeing the Puppy Dog eyes Steven is giving her. "Mmmm….Fine!" She blushed, can't help but give in. "You can help a bit, Steven." She pouts.
Steven's expression brightens, hearing he can assist in helping her. "Really?" He got closer, having a happy expression on his face.
Helena held her finger to his nose, still pouting that she had given into his childish behavior. "Only a bit, I don't want to rely on you for everything." She said before smiling. "But I appreciate it either way,"
Steven came in, hugging her tightly. "Of course, I wouldn't want to do anything to hurt your pride." He said, feeling his arm being touched by Helena's hand.
"I swear, you can be a goofball whenever you want to be." Helena chuckles, loving that part of him.
"But I'm your goofball." Steven jokes, causing them to laugh together.
