Ch 86 Symptoms
It's been a few weeks since they started work on the old Daycare, after the hard work of making the place into a Home. Now it's no longer a Daycare, now it's a Research Lab under the Trainer School's name.
They placed some wooden fences at the front of the Lab, the lawn was cut neatly, and a large tree was planted at the center of the lawn.
The path was replaced by new bricks, leading to the porch painted in a reddish hue. A pergola was added to the porch that stretches from the end of the Lab to the other end.
The outside walls were replaced with a new wooden material that will last longer than it's original. It was still painted in an orange-brown color, the walls with large holes within them were replaced with large windows.
Mainly the second floor had windows due to the rotten wood. Now each room has an open feel to it due to the large windows acting as walls to the outside.
Grey tiles replaced the old titles of the roof, and solar panels were placed in to provide renewable energy to the entire Lab/House.
Inside the Lab was a massive improvement, they demolished some of the walls to make some space for a laboratory section. They placed a new walled section, separating the Lab and Lobby. The first-floor plan was basically how a Pokemon Lab should look,
The Lobby was like a living space with a door leading into the Lab. There was a path in the corner leading to the backyard which also is where the first floor bathroom was. There was a stairwell next to the wall, leading to the second floor where the Housing part is located.
The second floor was like a first-floor House. It was a living area with fresh couches and chairs a coffee table and a flatscreen. Behind the couch was a window wall where sunlight could get in. There was a door leading to the only bedroom on the floor,
Next to it was a kitchen with all new appliances and an island table. Before it was a small dining room with two window walls behind that views the back up to the second-floor bathroom entrance, fitted with a shower too.
There was another set of stairs leading to the final floor. The floor mainly comprises of bedrooms. There were five rooms in total, the first four rooms were bedrooms including a master bedroom, and the other three were guest bedrooms and one bathroom. The final one was a study area or a fifth bedroom if needed.
Heading to the back; there was another porch for backyard picnics but heading down the stairs, the area was cleaned up. It was like a miniature field surrounded by the forest that included a small pond, a large area with building posts for a future barn, and a small patio with a gazebo.
There was a white fence separating the field from the Battlefield. It was a typical Pokemon Battlefield with some fairy lights connected by small posts around the trees.
Honestly, this was the ideal Lab Helena was dreaming of. It was a perfect mix of nature and the laboratory.
"It's perfect," Helena smiles, standing in front of her new Home's yard. "It's exactly how I imagine the Lab would be!" She excitedly said, seeing her dream has come true.
"Kirlia, Kirlia!" Kirlia added, sharing the same excitement as her Partner.
N steps forward, smiling at the work they accomplished in mere weeks. "Our hard work paid off in the end after all." The former King of Team Plasma said, knowing how difficult it was to make their Home as it is now.
"You said it, N. We all did a good job," Professor Ceder stood behind them, admiring the refurbished Building. "Though we may have called some experts in, but it turns out well in the end." He added,
Helena nodded before feeling dizzy all of a sudden.
Kirlia sensed that her Partner was a bit weak, turning to Helena and trying to assist her.
"Helena!" N quickly came to Helena's side, holding her before she fell over. His blue eyes check over his Sister for anything that could cause her to tumble. "Are you alright?" He asked, worried about her.
Helena smiles at both N and Kirlia, seeing their worried expression. "I'm fine, really. I just had a light dizzy spell, that's all." She said, not wanting them to worry when their greatest accomplishment thus far is right in front of them.
Adam looks at his Student, his hand on his chin as he observes her. "It must be the fatigue you've been experiencing since we've started work on the Lab." The young Professor assumed that it was indeed fatigue Helena was experiencing.
She worked hard to make this place possible, nailing the wood to the floors, washing the kitchen spotless, and going on errands for both him and N of what they needed.
"I'm sorry we pushed you to your limits, Helena," Adam said, apologizing to his Student. "We don't go inside, and you rest there." The blue and blonde-haired Professor said, thinking she just needed some rest.
Helena was indeed feeling fatigued, ever since they had really begun the work at their Home. "Yeah, I think some rest and relaxation might do me some good." She responded, unsure why she was feeling like this.
N nodded, assisting his Sister into their Home. "I'll take you to your bedroom, Helena." The green-haired trainer stated, "Don't worry about a tour of the place; we can always do that when you're up to it."
"Yeah, I think so too." Helena smiles, and both walk to the entrance of the new Pokemon Lab.
Once inside, N takes Helena to one of the empty rooms they have yet to decorate or claim. He helped her settle down on the bed, checking again if she was alright. "Helena, are you sure you're okay?" He asked, truly worried about her.
Kirlia stood beside her Partner's bedside, looking up at her with worry as well. "Kirlia…"
Helena places her hand gently on Kirlia's head, ensuring her it's nothing. "Don't worry Kirlia, I'll be fine." She said,
N looks at his Sister's Partner, knowing how devoted she is to her. "Kirlia, can you keep an eye on Helena? Get her anything that she might need to make her better." The former King of Team Plasma asked the Duel-type.
Kirlia nodded, obviously wanting to help her trainer feel better. "Kirlia," The Fairy/Psychic obliges to N's request.
The green-haired trainer looks at his Sister, "I have some last-minute things to do around our Home." N explains to Helena, turning to the door.
"Well, if you say so." Helena yawns, lying on her bed to get some rest. Kirlia walks over to a small couch in the room, resting inside the room.
N walks down the stairs, spotting his Mentor finishing up with a Phone call. "Professor Ceder, is there something wrong?" The green-haired trainer asked the Professor.
The Professor placed back his Rotom Phone, turning to N. "It's nothing, I was just ordering some basic needs for the Lab," Adam explained to his Student. "Some computers, printers, and some other things."
N nodded, understanding what his Mentor was getting at. He remembers that Pokemon Labs have many equipment within them. "Ah, I see. Considering we have a barren Lab room, it wouldn't be right just to have nothing." He stated,
"You are right about that, N." Adam chuckles before hearing a knock on their door. "Hmm? I thought the doorbell was already working." The blue and blonde-haired Professor said to himself,
"Hmmm…I have to check it again later…" Adam said, seeing N approaching to answer the door.
N opens the door, answering whoever is knocking. "Yes, how may I-hello, Steven." His eyes lowered, seeing the Man who was dating his Sister.
Steven's eyes caught N standing at the door of the repaired Daycare. "N, hello. You guys did a great job on the place,"
"Thank you, Steven," N said before asking the Hoenn Champion's reason for being here. "So what brings you here, Steven?" He asked, fully aware of why he was here.
"I'm here to see the Lab you guys recently finished," Steven stated, looking around the entire Laboratory. "From what I can tell, you did a good job on the place." He looks inside, seeing no signs of Helena.
"Where's Helena? I thought she'd be here with you two?" Steven asked the green-haired trainer.
N steps aside, letting Steven into his new Home. "Helena is resting in one of the rooms." He informed the Steel-blue haired trainer. "She's been working her hardest for this place to be up and running. It's only right to have her rest up after a hard work is done." He stated, looking out for his Sister's well-being.
Steven nodded before turning to Adam who walked over to the door. "Helena just has been lightheaded lately. It's nothing to be concerned over, but since you're dating her I believe it's best to let you know." Adam informed the Champion.
"Right, thank you for telling me, Professor, N," Steven stated, eyeing the staircase indicating Helena was up there.
Adam took notice that Steven was looking at the stairs. He smiles, offering Steven something to him. "If you want, you can visit Helena just for a short while."
N sighs, seeing if his Mentor allowed the Steel-blue haired Champion to meet with his Sister. "No funny business, Steven. I'm warning you." He eyes his 'Friend'.
"Of course, I wouldn't want to take much of her time knowing she's exhausted," Steven said, wanting Helena to have as much rest as possible.
Still sleeping in the room, Helena stirs in her sleep before turning over. Her eyes fluttered, opening them to see Steven placing some Medicine and a glass of water on her bedside counter.
"I must be dreaming because I think I see Steven in my room," Helena groggily said, watching what she thought was a dream Steven had in her mind.
Steven turns to face Helena, hearing her speak and awake. He smiles, also hearing her sentence. "No, I don't believe that I'm a dream." He chuckles, reaching over to feel her forehead.
Helena's eyes widen, realizing that Steven is here and not dreaming. "Steven!" She sat up, feeling some abdominal pain suddenly. "Wow, that was something…"
Steven knelt down, seeing her wince in pain. "Ellie, are you alright? You seem to be in pain." The Steel-blue haired trainer asked, concern for his Girlfriend.
The black-haired Professor smiles, ignoring the pain in her abdomen. "N-No, it's not painful to say. I think I just pulled a muscle in my abdomen, that's all." Helena stated before asking Steven why he was here.
"Steven, why are you in my room?" Helena asked her Boyfriend. "Did Professor Ceder and N let you in?" She asked.
"Yes, I heard from Roxanne that you guys were done repairing the old Daycare House and decided to check on it," Steven explains to the black-haired Woman. "I have to say, you done well to the place." The Champion commented, liking how the place turned out.
Steven then shook his head, telling her the reason why he came. "To be honest, I came here to speak about the spelunking trip but…I can see that can wait for another time." He said, taking into consideration Helena's health. "I want you to be well enough when we head there."
Helena smiles, feeling lucky to have someone who is patient with everything. "Thank you, Steven." She said, appreciating him.
The Hoenn Champion smiles, kissing her forehead. "We can always try next month, Ellie. The Cave isn't going anywhere." Steven said before getting up, ready to head for the door.
"But you were excited when you mentioned it…" Helena turns around, having a small pout. "(I was kinda looking for it as well…)" She mumbles to herself,
"Nope," Helena turns to Steven, refusing her pouting face. "There's no way around it, Helena. We're not going until you're fully well," Steven stated,
Helena sighed, knowing Steven was right when it came to health. "Hai, hai," She said, adopting the way they spoke in Hoenn.
Steven gave a warm smile, "Don't worry, Helena soon enough we'll be able to go spelunking together." He said, being hopeful for the next opportunity to arise.
Soon enough, it had been a month already and things worsened.
Roxanne stood inside the Teacher's Bathroom, waiting for Helena to come out of the stalls. "Ellie, are you sure you're well enough to come in today?" The new Gym Leader of Rustboro City asked her Friend, "You're vomiting almost every two hours."
Helena came out of the Bathroom stall, holding a piece of napkin to her mouth. She quickly walks to the sink, washing her mouth with water. She gave a long sigh, turning to her Friend. "Yes, I'm just fine, Roxanne. It's just the strong smell from the Baking Class and the food at the Cafeteria." She stated.
"Ellie, they're baking Pokepuffs. It's just flour, eggs, milk, and Berries." Roxanne said, worried for her Friend today. "As for the Cafeteria, they serve the same food since our time in the School." She stated,
The burette walks over to Helena, placing her hand on her shoulder. "Helena, I know that today you're going to Granite Cave with Steven in Dewford Town. But with you vomiting, I don't think it's wise to go, considering that you're going on a boat." Roxanne stated before stepping back,
"B-But, I want to go," Helena said, starting to tear up. "Steven has worked so hard, planning, getting g-gear a-and I don't what else- why am I crying?" She asked, wiping away the tears.
Roxanne felt bad, seeing Helena crying all of a sudden. "Helena, it's alright, Steven is an understanding guy-"
"No, I have to go. Steven's been planning this for ages," Helena said, her mood changes abruptly. She looks at Roxanne, her expression determined to go with Steven to Granite Cave.
Roxanne nodded, seeing there was no changing her mind. "If you say so, Ellie. I won't stop you but do take into consideration your health," She said, not sure why Helena was daring suddenly.
Helena nodded, "Alright, I guess you're right on that, Roxy." The black-haired Professor said before slapping her cheeks. "Okay, let's head back. Lunch is almost done and the Kids will be back from Lunch." She said, exiting the Teacher's Bathroom.
"Wait up, Ellie," Roxanne called out to her Friend when she saw someone bump into her. "Ellie! Are you alright?" The brunette asked her, coming over to her.
Helena shook her head, turning to the Person she bumped into. "Hey, watch where you're going-" The Person paused, realizing who he bumped into.
The Person was Fourteen years old, he had dirty blonde hair with grey eyes, he wore a white button shirt, grey jacket, purple pants, grey leggings, and black running shoes. Strapped around his chest was a bag handle with the bag behind him. "Hmm? Paulo?" Helena asked, not expecting one of her Students to be around here.
"Professor Potter, I didn't see you there." Paulo cleared his throat, "S-Sorry I didn't mean to bump into you." He apologizes, changing his demeanor since he bumped into a Teacher,
Helena smiles, not taking it as anything. "It's fine, Paulo, but you should really be careful when you're walking next time, alright?" She said to her Student. Paulo was a Student whom Helena could sympathize with,
Paulo came from an abusive household, though not physical, he does experience a lot of neglect from his Farther. Helena often talks to him, earning his trust to tell her the things that troubles him.
"R-Right, I'll keep that in mind, Professor." The blonde trainer stated, turning around and heading to his Class.
"So, how's working with Paulo, Ellie?" The Rock-type Gym Leader asked her Friend, watching the young trainer head off down the Hall.
Helena stood next to her Friend, answering her question. "It's been great so far, though I do sense that he's been hiding something still." The black-haired Professor said, "But I'm not going to pry. He's the only one who decides if he wants to disclose that information," She stated, hearing the bell ring for the next Class.
Roxanne looks up before noticing the pack of Students and their Pokemon coming down from the Hallway. "It's good that you're doing everything for him. Anyways, let's go before the Halls get overcrowded, Ellie." She said, walking to their Classes,
After the School Day was finished, Helena got ready to meet Steven at the entrance of Rustboro City. She dressed in clothing that is suitable for spelunking, a pink shirt with light brown khaki pants.
Helena walks down the streets before seeing Steven waiting at the Gate. He wore an orange shirt, and dark brown vest, with the same Khaki pants as her.
The Steel-blue haired Champion turns to Helena, smiling at her. "I see you're ready to go, Ellie." Steven greeted his Girlfriend before asking her something. "Are you feeling well this time?" He asked, wanting to be sure.
Helena nodded, not wanting to ruin this. "Of course, I've been eager for this trip since you mentioned it," She stated,
"I'm glad, really," Steven said, walking up to her and holding her hand. "I have a boat waiting for us near the dock. It'll take us to Dewford Town," He explains how they're going to Granite Cave.
Helena smiles, allowing Steven to take her through Petalburg Forest and to a small Port Hut where they meet the Sailor that'll take them to Dewford Island.
Helena never had any seasickness, however upon halfway through the Ocean she felt what it was like to have one. "Ellie, are you-" Steven paused, seeing Helena over the boat emptying her stomach.
"Helena!" Steven rushed over to Helena, pulling her hair back as she continued to throw up.
Helena huffs, taking out her on-hand tissue to cover her mouth. "S-Steven, I'm fine. It's just a little seasickness." She said,
Steven didn't like the scenery he saw with Helena. "It's more than a little seasickness, Helena." He said her name, indicating this was a serious thing. "We're making a quick stop at the Doctor before we go to Granite Cave." He stated, wanting to make sure that Helena was alright.
Helena didn't argue, Steven was right as always. Her stomach was upset a lot lately and she was having a hard time just to keep some food down. Going to the Doctor's doesn't seem to be a bad idea.
Once they arrived in Dewford Town, Steven took Helena to the Town's Doctor. They got in rather quickly due to them knowing Brawly, the Gym Leader, and Steven being the Champion and all.
Helena sat in the Doctor's office with Steven, acting as her support. "Don't worry Ellie, I'm sure you just caught a bad case of the stomach virus," Steven said, holding her hand.
Helena nodded, hoping that was the result of her vomiting. "Y-Yes, I hope so too." She said when the Doctor came in.
"Thank you for your patience," The Doctor said, entering with her Chansey,
"Chansey, Chansey." The Normal-type greeted the two trainers, holding some documents.
The Doctor sat down behind her desk, lifting her glasses. "Now, Ms. Potter, before I say anything, have you been able to hold down any food?" She asked,
Helena shook her head, "No, not really. Nothing I ate seems to sit with me," She explains to her Doctor. "The only thing I could hold down is a liquid substance, like juice and water." She added, telling all she's been experiencing.
"Plus some cramps lately, but it's mild." Helena continues, seeing the concerned expression on Steven's face.
"Have you missed your period?" The Doctor asked, causing Steven to blush slightly.
Helena nodded, "Yes, I have. Does it have to do with my stomach illness?" She asked.
The Doctor nodded, flipping through the documents on Helena's test results. "it's pretty common for a Woman to have these symptoms when they're pregnant." She said nonchalantly like it was natural. "Saying yes to your missed period solidifies the test results."
Both Steven and Helena froze at what the Doctor said. "I-I'm sorry, I must mishear you. D-Did you say Helena's pregnant?" The Champion asked, wanting to make sure.
"Hmm? Yes, Ms. Potter has been experiencing the first month of her pregnancy." The Doctor explains, having these sorts of things happen a lot. "Based on your reactions, you had one sex one time and didn't use protection. In any case, congratulations, you two." She smiles at them.
Both Helena and Steven were frozen, pregnant…that was one word that looms around in their mind.
Helena gently places her hand on her abdomen, pregnant. The chances of getting pregnant on their first time was one out of a million,
She looked down at her stomach, feeling it as if life was growing inside. 'A-A Baby…I'm having a Baby…'
