The tall, handsome blond man looked out the windows of his office in a skyscraper.
Several sectors of the modern metropolitan city were burning. The man scowled.
"I can't stand idly anymore..." he decided.
He pressed a button on the intercom on his desk. "Maisie, I've gotta leave for a while," he said.
A female voice replied, "Please be very careful, Sir."
The man put on a jaded small smile. "Hey, when am I not? Go home, Maisie. And don't leave it unless necessary."
He ripped his fine dressing jacket on the way to the stairs and threw it aside, the old white shirt underneath reminding him of old times.
Cody Travers.
Origin: Final Fight.
A street fighter from Metro City, in the United States.
He fell in love with Jessica, the daughter of mayor Mike Haggar, a wrestler who retired that stage for politics to help the people. When the Mad Gear gang kidnapped Jessica to blackmail Haggar, Cody teamed up with the Mayor to rescue her. They were joined by Guy, a Japanese ninja who became Cody's best friend.
After punching gang boss Belger to his death from a building, Cody developed an irrational obsession for fighting and looking for strong opponents. It ruined his life as he overlooked everything else for it, including Jessica.
Eventually, this, plus a frameup staged by Mad Gear members looking for revenge, landed Cody in jail. He grew jaded and escaped when he felt like it, as jails couldn't stop him for long, still looking for fights inside and outside. Eventually, he was confronted by Guy, who forced him to look at what he had become and reformulate his life. Cody cleaned up his life and, when Haggar retired, became the new Mayor of Metro.
Stage: The ravaged streets of Metro City, during a riot. Several members of Mad Gear have stopped their pillaging to watch. Abigail sits on the pavement by a car, El Gado toys with a knife leaning on a lamppost, Roxy swings her hips and Sodom seems excited as he witnesses the combats.
Opening Poses and Lines:
Cody hops in place, swinging his fists. "Hey, you there! I'm looking for some info. What do you know about Akira?"
Cody walks in tossing a knife around and catching it each time. "Desk work isn't my thing, you know. Thanks for providing some entertainment."
Vs. Orlok:
"A vampire, or just a druggie?"
Orlok hisses at him.
"Only one way to find out!" Cody says.
Orlok hisses again.
"You look to be on fentanyl, but who knows, I've fought a zombie before!"
Vs. Ultraman:
Ultraman flies down with his arms folded. He scowls at Cody. "A mere street punk! Is this the best your world has to throw at the Crime Syndicate of Amerika?" he asks.
"And I'm fighting Superman himself, instead! I guess I just don't compare, huh?"
Ultraman lands on his feet and punches the ground. "I'm not Superman!"
"Sorry, Shazam, I'm not just a punch, I'll let you know I'm a mayor..."
Vs. Akira:
Akira floats down to stand before Cody. "Mayor Travers. Yours is truly a inspirational story of superation. You are indeed some of mankind's finest, showing your capacity to improve from the rock bottom. But-"
"Aw, shucks, you'll make me blush. Stop it!"
"- but that won't help you. You ultimately are only human, put against a demigod."
"Now that's more like it. How did you learn so much about me? Been reading the newspapers?"
"Actually, I just read your mind."
"That's a violation of privacy! I'll beat you up!"
Vs. Belldandy:
Belldandy floats down to greet Cody.
"Yo," Cody flips her a casual salute. "So you're the one behind this whole mess? What a twist. But it reminds me of something else."
"You are very courageous, coming here all alone," she tells him. "Where are Haggar-san and Guy-san?"
"If I were very smart, I wouldn't be here to begin with, alone or not, would I? Hey, aren't you some Norse goddess?"
"Indeed. Why do you ask?"
"Then why do you speak Japanese?"
"It's the language of the man I love."
"Oh, love. It makes you do stupid things, doesn't it?"
Heavy Moves:
Sommersault Kick: A standard aerial attack spinning while Cody leaps.
Rapid Punch: Cody throws a blurry of punches in fast succession.
Strike Fist: Cody throws a special punch with his fist enveloped by fire.
Judo Catch: Cody grabs the opponent and applies a judo technique on them.
Hammer Hook: Cody stomps ahead and delivers a blow to the stomach.
Jaw Crusher: An anti-aerial uppercut.
Super Moves:
Punch-Out:
If Cody connects a direct blow, then he is able to follow it by stringing several hits together, finishing with an uppercut to the jaw.
Hyper Active:
Another fast barrage of hits, but this time also adding kicks, alternating them with the punches.
Final Fight Finish:
Cody slashes with several boxing jabs. If the opponent is left stunned, Cody can pull the full move by turning around, raising a fist, and telling them "You're already dead". The adversary is then battered senseless by some unseen force while Cody simply walks away from them.
Knife Throw:
Cody throws a survivalist knife at the adversary. A relatively weak projectile, but it can be spammed easily.
Dead End Irony:
Cody begins the move with a low sliding kick, then follows it with a barrage of ascending kicks.
Final Destruction:
Cody throws a spinning punch, stops, and punches the opponent away with a chain of extra punches.
Last Dread Dust:
Cody picks dust and some dirt from the ground and blows it at the opponent, disorienting them. He throws a rock at them, punches them in the stomach, and ends it by stabbing them with his knife.
Victory Poses and Lines:
Cody shakes his fists like a thrilled boxer and exclaims "Yeah! I still got it!"
Cody takes a photography out of a pocket of his pants, glances at it longingly, and says "Jessica" softly.
Vs. Orlok:
Orlok, falling on the ground, screeches and tries scurrying away from Cody.
Cody slams a foot down on him to keep him in place. "And... Where do you think you're going?"
Orlok screeches again and tries clawing at him.
Cody pulls a phone out. "Lucia, bring a special wagon here, will you? Some fellow just tried to attack me."
Vs. Ultraman:
"I just beat Superman!" Cody smiles and shrugs. "Maybe I'm good after all!"
"I'm not Superman!"
"Don't feel bad! Maybe there's some kryptonite in the area! Do you want me to call someone, so they look for it?"
"You're doing this on purpose, aren't you!"
"What gave you that idea, Supey?"
Vs. Akira:
After the battle, Cody simply disappeared. And as days became months, and months became years, he would never be seen again.
Some mentioned an unfortunate end... Some spun yarns of finding a fortune and living happily ever after in foreig-
Cody punches through the text screen. "Oh, no, like heck you guys are pulling that one off! The nerve of you!"
Mayor Cody Travers went back home to Metro City, hailed a national hero. After Haggar's two terms as the president of the United States of America, Travers won the election to be his successor in a landslide.
He also was the first president from any independent party, as he didn't want to associate with the Republican OR Democrat parties.
Cody is seen dusting his hands off. "That's better, creeps!"
Vs. Belldandy:
"Do you still think I should've brought Mike and Guy along?" Cody asks.
Belldandy smiles. "Obviously not. Thank you so very much, Travers-san. You may have just saved even more than you could possibly imagine. Now tell me, what is the wish of your heart?"
"I pretty much got what I wanted already. I dunno, could I just give the wish to someone else?"
"I'm afraid not."
"What if you decide? All in all, you look like a good woman."
She bows her head. "Thanks for your trust..."
Cody eventually makes it home. Jessica comes out to greet him.
"Cody!" She hugs him.
"Hey, sweetheart." He hugs her back. "I'm back. Sorry I took so long. I had to take care of paperwork after hours!"
"Cody, thank God you are safe and alive, because... you're about to become a dad!"
Cody gets a look of shock on his face.
Next Challenger: Season Two of the videogame arrives complete with a new Final Boss, since writing Akira and Belldandy sequences time and time again was getting tiresome.
