In Ever After, you have fairy tales. That much is obvious.
These tales define good and evil, right from wrong, and with a nice fantasy to them. They give wonder, a good story to tell your kids when you tuck them in at night, and a nice lesson from it all.
The Storybook of Legends preserves that legacy. Each fantastical tale is laced in binding ink through pages as old as time since the first Grimm brothers created it to preserve the next generations destinies in order for them to cease to even exist.
But what if I told you that all of that was just a big fat lie?
Afterall, Nothing stays the same forever. Every story progressed and adapted into something new. Not everything is black and white. What if there was more to the story than it let on.
Characters are more… complex than they let on. So much that people comprehend the idea of it.
One's choice might affect a change in a story.
Another might affect the person physically or mentally.
It might even cause insanity.
Perhaps… it might change the way one sees the world.
As something pure can turn change into one full of hurt and hatred when one goes too far.
One could invoke hope,
While another despair in their heart.
One's ambition might be the downfall,
While two's love can persevere through it.
But in the end. It's how others see it. How you see it.
So let's read the story about love, reunion, rebelion, alliance, secrets, hurt, and insanity:
"Urgh!" Raven groaned, as she threw her homework onto the floor and then flopped herself onto her bed. Even with her new found powerful magic, she still struggles with Evilnomics.
It was a month after what happened in Wonderland. Everybody was enjoying their time with the curse lifted from Wonderland and everyone's new found freedom from their destinies. Though, there were still some terrible struggles during that month but those are stories for another time.
Apple looked at Raven. "You're looking tired." she said.
"I hate these classes. I know I have to go to these but they are just so irritating! I am only in them because I am the daughter of the Evil Queen." the witch exclaimed as she sat up on her bed.
"Maybe things will change. You gave everyone a choice to choose their destinies. So what's the point in learning these courses if you are not following your destiny?" reasoned Apple, giving out her usual kind smile.
Ever since Wonderland, she has been supporting both rebels and royals on their choices after a little… an incident transpired. But still, after everything, she finally understood the Rebel's perspective and has been one of their biggest supporters. She even frequently enjoyed her time hanging out with Raven to get a better understanding.
Though, if you ask Briar, she would say that Apple wanted to spend time with her crush.
"Huh. I haven't thought of that. I probably should talk about it with my parents first along with my siblings, since it's been a while since I've written to them." Raven said as she pondered.
Apple perked up at the mention of 'siblings'. She and Raven barely talk about their families, even though their heritage was important to their stories. Not that she wanted to talk about it, the subject seemed... touchy. And that was for the princess's case in this statement. But she was interested in what Raven's family was like.
"Siblings? I never knew you had other relatives other than your mom." Apple mused. "What are they like?"
"Oh! Well yeah, I do. I have a few of them. I have an older brother, a younger sister, and a twin brother and a few others besides them." Raven replied, nervously rubbing her arm.
There were many reasons why she felt nervous at this very moment.
"You have a twin?" Apple asked, shocked.
"Yeah. And let me tell you, he is an annoying trickster. And as much as I love him, he's sometimes an idiot." Raven replied flat out, relaxing in the conversation. She then smiles when talking about her family to Apple. She liked how the blonde had a glimmer of curiosity in her eyes as it made her heart flutter just looking at them long enough. Then another thought occurred to her.
"And what about your family?" the witch asked.
The fact Raven sees Apple flinch and freeze in place was something she didn't expect. She didn't know what happened, but she then saw Apple's face that was once filled with curiosity turned with nervousness. But before Raven asked what was wrong, the blonde then looked at the time and spoke.
"It's almost time for lunch! C'mon Raven, let's go grab something to eat. I'm starving and I bet we could go ask what Briar is planning for her next party next week that she's been planning!" Apple quickly suggests as much as her words can muster in 5 seconds while scurrying out of their dorm in a blink of an eye, leaving the witch with her own thoughts as to what had happened along with a confused and worried look.
"What the hex was all that about?" Raven exclaimed.
She wasn't expecting that reaction. She thought that Apple would just blurt out her family and say nice and fun facts about them considering the person she is. The fairest seemed as if she was forcing a smile, one that the avian witch seemed to notice a few times before.
But one thing was for sure.
Whatever was going on, she wanted to help her secret crush by figuring out what it was.
Many strange things happen in the night on the streets that even a fairytale world can have. Gangs, deals, drugs, even the mafia. But this night seems to be more… stranger.
In a dark alleyway in a village, there were two hooded figures, who seemed to both be around the age of 18, having a discussion. One of them was holding a scroll that looked to be somewhat antique but not centuries old.
"We're so close! All our answers are in the palm of our hands, and once that happens we'll save everyone from that wretched darkness!" the one with the scroll said, revealing a feminine voice and smiling. The other figure was muscular and was shown as a male.
"Well, hurry up and open it." the other mysterious person said.
The young woman nodded and did what she was asked. The scroll was then revealed to be a map and as she read, her smile faded and even though her cloak overshadowed her face, you could tell that her eyes were going wide and excitement was gone.
"What's wrong?" the young man said and went to look. He went silent, then replied with an 'oh'.
The female, once happy, was frizzled and nervous while a little raged in a form of panic. "Out of all the places it would be, it shows us here?" she exclaimed.
The other looked at her worriedly. "Um... Sis-"
"This is the last place I would go before facing them. We can't face her! She might as well hate us for leaving! And if I did my math correctly, she would be learning at that school around that age before graduating." she said, and then broke down crying.
Her brother, apparently, looked at her and sighs. "She'd take it hard when she sees us. But maybe she can help." he reasons. "I know for one thing, she always surprises us."
She looked at him and didn't believe a word he said. "But... What if she changed? It's been years, bro. For all we know, she might be a whole new different person if mother's influence on her took effect badly. And we hadn't even checked what was even happening there before all that shit happened when we saw mother..."
"I highly doubt that. And besides, we have to face her eventually. And if we don't go then all our hard work would have been for nothing and us leaving would have been pointless in the first place." he answers.
She thought for a moment. Her brother was right. One way or another, they had to see her. And they left for not only others suffering from these problems but for the young little girl they knew of to not suffer because of it.
"Fine. But if one wrong thing happens on this mission, we are tying her to a chair. I can't stand the thought of her in danger." She replied back.
"She's 16, sis. Her story may be just her being helpless, but she is old enough to defend herself." he said to her.
"But you can't help worrying, y'know. No matter what age, she is still our baby sis." She says, and looks out. It was far but if you look close enough, you could see a big building that was also considered a school.
"Alright. Ax, we're going to Ever After High."
