I do not own Harry Potter or any of it's characters except for my OCs

Sebastian Holloway opened his eyes to darkness, disoriented and unsure of where he was. As he blinked against the shadows, memories of his past life flooded back—a life spent reading about magic, heroes, and a boy with a lightning-shaped scar. He took a deep breath, inhaling the musty scent of the orphanage that had been his home for as long as he could remember. It was then that he realized he was no longer just a fan of the Harry Potter universe; he was a part of it.

Sebastian sat up in the narrow bed of the orphanage, feeling the weight of his new identity settle over him like a heavy cloak. He could feel a mixture of excitement and apprehension surging through his veins. He was in a body that had lived through the trauma of being abandoned, but he also carried the knowledge of a lifetime of Harry Potter books. This was his chance to forge a new path, and he intended to make the most of it.

A few days passed in the orphanage, during which he kept mostly to himself, observing the other children while quietly planning his next steps. He learned quickly that he possessed an uncanny ability to blend into the background, a skill that would serve him well in the years to come. Then, on a particularly mundane morning, something remarkable happened—a letter arrived.

It was the familiar green envelope with a wax seal stamped with the Hogwarts crest. The moment he laid eyes on it, his heart raced with anticipation. He tore open the envelope, reading the words that would change his life forever:

Dear Mr. Holloway*

We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. You will find all necessary information regarding your supplies enclosed.*

Yours sincerely*

Minerva McGonagall, Deputy Headmistress*

Sebastian could hardly believe it. After all the years of yearning for magic, it was finally his turn. With a mix of determination and excitement, he prepared for his journey into the wizarding world.

Diagon Alley

Minerva McGonagall arrived at the orphanage the very next day, her presence commanding and dignified. She wore her usual pointed hat, and her robes were immaculate. As she introduced herself, her stern demeanor softened slightly when she looked at Sebastian.

"Welcome, Mr. Holloway. I trust you have read your letter and will be coming to Hogwarts?" she asked.

"Yes, Professor," he replied, attempting to match her formality while suppressing his excitement.

With a flick of her wand, the world around them shimmered and transformed. He knew what that feeling was , she had apparated along with him. He now understood why it was depicted so uncomfortably in the books as he felt like throwing up. A few moments later, they stood in the bustling streets of Diagon Alley, a vibrant hub of magic and wonder. Sebastian's eyes widened at the sights before him: shops filled with cauldrons, spellbooks, and robes; witches and wizards hurrying by; and the aroma of magical treats wafting through the air.

"Your first stop will be Gringotts, the wizarding bank," McGonagall instructed, leading him toward the massive marble building. "We need to ensure you have the funds necessary for your supplies. Hogwarts provides a fund for muggleborns which we give to you for free. You will be given this money to buy all necessary items required for each year of schooling."

Inside Gringotts, Sebastian marveled at the goblins with their sharp features and businesslike demeanor. McGonagall quickly introduced him to a goblin named Griphook, who would assist them with making a vault for him

"Welcome to Gringotts, Mr. Holloway," Griphook said in a gravelly voice. "Please follow me."

Sebastian followed closely, feeling both awed and slightly intimidated. As they approached a vault, Griphook opened it with a flick of his wrist, revealing a few golden Galleons, silver Sickles and bronze Knuts.

"Take what you need for your first year," McGonagall encouraged, her tone surprisingly gentle.

Sebastian glanced at the small amount before him and felt a sense of freedom wash over him. He carefully selected a modest amount of Galleons, taking enough to last his first year and some additional purchases if required but knowing he would have access to more next year

After securing his money, they made their way to the nearby shops to purchase the necessary school supplies. Sebastian felt as though he were in a dream, surrounded by all things magical. They visited Ollivanders, where he finally selected his wand, a beautiful piece made of ebony with a core of dragon heartstring.

"The wand chooses the wizard," Ollivander had said with an enigmatic smile. "You have a great journey ahead of you, Mister Holloway."

Sebastian could hardly contain his excitement as they continued shopping, picking up robes, books, and potion ingredients. The entire experience was overwhelming, but thrilling.

The Sorting Ceremony

Finally, the time came for him to board the Hogwarts Express. McGonagall escorted him to Platform 9, where he witnessed the magical barrier between the Muggle world and the wizarding world. With her guidance, he pushed through, and the sight of the scarlet train took his breath away.

Sebastian took a breath, a spark of determination igniting within him. He knew what he wanted. He didn't come to Hogwarts to make friends; he came to learn and harness the power he had always dreamed of.

The train ride was filled with laughter and chatter from the other first years. As they approached Hogwarts, Sebastian's excitement grew. The castle loomed in the distance, magnificent and imposing against the night sky.

Once they arrived, he followed the other first years into the Great Hall, where the Sorting Hat awaited them. Sebastian felt a mixture of nervousness and anticipation. Would he be sorted into Slytherin, as he hoped?

The Sorting Hat began to sing its traditional song, and Sebastian listened intently, soaking in the magical atmosphere. One by one, the first years were called up to the front, each stepping forward to receive their fate.

"Potter, Rose!" came the call, and Sebastian's gaze snapped to the Gryffindor table as Rose stepped forward, her red hair catching the light. She looked nervous yet determined, her green eyes scanning the hall before the Hat was placed on her head.

"Gryffindor!" the Hat shouted, and the table erupted in cheers. Sebastian couldn't help but admire her spirit, even from across the room as the entirety of Gryffindor celebrated the fact that they got Potter.

Finally, it was his turn.

"Holloway, Sebastian!"

He stepped forward, feeling all eyes on him. The Hat was placed over his head, and darkness enveloped him.

"Ah, another muggleborn," a voice whispered in his ear. "Cunning, resourceful… you could go far, you know."

Sebastian felt a rush of confidence. "Slytherin," he urged silently, a part of him longing for power and prestige.

"Interesting… you have the ambition of a true Slytherin," the Hat mused. "But there is more to you. Still, I see the potential for greatness. Very well…"

"Slytherin!" the Hat declared, and the table erupted into applause as he joined his new housemates.

He took a seat beside Daphne Greengrass, who gave him a quick nod of acknowledgment. Her blonde hair shimmered under the candles, and her icy blue eyes studied him, calculating.

"Welcome to Slytherin," she said coolly. "Just remember, we don't play nice here."

Sebastian smirked, feeling the weight of the house's expectations settle over him. He was determined to prove himself, to embrace the darkness and ambition that Slytherin represented.

The Dormitory

After the feast, Sebastian followed his fellow Slytherins to their common room, hidden behind the bare stretch of stone in the dungeons. As he stepped inside, he was greeted with the warm glow of green candles and the scent of leather-bound books.

"This is our sanctuary," Daphne explained, leading him further into the room. "You'll find your place here, but don't expect it to be easy."

Sebastian nodded, already aware of the challenges that lay ahead. As he climbed the stairs to his dormitory, he felt a sense of satisfaction wash over him. He was finally where he belonged, in the heart of a world that had captivated him for so long.

Lying in bed that night, he reflected on his first day. He was not just a muggleborn in Slytherin; he was Sebastian Holloway, and he intended to make his mark on this world.

As sleep began to claim him, a sense of determination took root in his heart. Tomorrow would bring new challenges, and he would be ready for whatever came his way.
