Concepts of Main Character Looks
Mateo
Imagine some Pinterest or tiktok high school Latino boy. Yeah, that's what Mateo looks like. Curly taper, silver chain, hoodie loved, cargo joggers that need to be pulled up, air forces of many colors, typical for him. And his eyebrow MUST have a slit. His formal attire would probably be a plain ahh grey dress shirt, black pants and the same air force kicks. Before becoming the Royal Wizard, Mateo is a typical Gen Z boy that likes to fuck around with the boys and spend time w/ his girlfriend (guess who that is). His characters is basically flipped around for this AU; instead of being a nervous nerdy boy, he is ultimately chill and reckless, even nearly failing school. And you know what's even worse? This Mateo thinks magic is fun and games and kinda takes it for granted until some bad shit happens. Deep inside, Mateo can get a little worried but he doesn't like to show it, wanting to maintain his coolness and rizz (you're gonna see a LOT of Gen z brain rot slang; it's a parody afterall). He stays up all night and sleeps in the morning, unless something important is happening that day. He's also a gamer sometimes, and tries to skateboard but can't. Big rap music fan.
Elena
Elena would still have the same dress that she always wore, and that ball gown. The adventure outfit would be the same for season 1, but the season 2 one changes (get to that in another concept). Yeah, Elena wears mostly the same things unless I specify what she wears in a specific episode.
Gabe
The Royal guard uniform would be very similar to the original, but have silver pauldrons, buttons going down a single line resembling a button up, and two tags, left one shows his rank and right displays his last name. Avaloran emblem on the sides of his arms. Everything else is the same. The uniform pants are the same color except now they're more baggy. With the uniform guards wear shiny black dress shoes. Gabe's hair looks the same when he's on duty, but off-duty he lets it flow free. I guess it'd be a basic, but old-school cut; not the way most boys style their hair today. He wants to be different frfr. Anyway, you can imagine it how you'd like ofc, but I imagine it's something like the Beiber swoop but shorter (eww, ik)
Naomi
Naomi has long hair now with bangs, bcuz why not? Rocking a wolf cut frfr. She dresses more grungy and kinda tomboyish. Knee-long jean shorts are the way to go for her, as are black doc marten type boots and a slightly cropped green shirt with a black cropped tank on top of it (kinda like whatever tf Axel from total drama was rocking). Naomi still has a love for the sea and traveling by boat, she studies all the things about it, and loves to help at the port whenever she can. She moved to Avalor when she was 12 and has been doing alright socially, even having a boyfriend who is kinda different from her but overall very fun (I wonder who he is…).
Isabel
Isabel still wears her OG gown and adventure fit, but sometimes she'll wear more modern clothes, especially various graphic t-shirts. She is a super innovative inventor that is on her way of making some super high-tech inventions. She also finds her way into skateboarding.
Francisco and Luisa
They don't really change. Sometimes they use phrases like "it's because of that damn phone" or "you're one of them queers?"
Esteban
Esteban's formal outfit is kinda the same, only his boots are swapped out for regular black shoes. His normal outfit would probably be a maroon suit with an off-white dress shirt and a black tie. I could see him rocking a leather jacket and tight jeans from time to time too, tryna live out the past that he's been stuck in since the day Shuriki took over. He even colors his roots black in an attempt to hide his age but the gray hairs grow back way too fast. But throughout all that, Esteban always wears his sash.
Everyone Else
You can interpret how they would look :)
Concepts of Places and Buildings
So, of course the architecture has to change too, except for the palace. The palace has stayed the same since it was built a long time ago, besides the very few upgrades and electrical installations. However, Avalor City, the capital, is waaaay bigger than before, with the tallest buildings being near the bay and there being smaller towns scattered throughout the entire kingdom of Avalor. The forests have more roads in them, easier for travel, there are more parks, the port is HUGE (not only ports for cargo ships and cruise lines, but there are multiple marinas too). There are many different types of restaurants and different types of food. Also many types of stores that sell all sorts of things. Homes are either apartments, or in the suburban/more secluded areas of Avalor. There would also be more fun attractions, like amusement parks or water parks.
Dona Paloma's Emporium
Now named "Palomart," there are multiple stores situated around Avalor. The biggest one is in the heart of Avalor City; the Villa Mercado, now a huge mall. She has many employees working for her and a manager per store. The logo is the silhouette of a woman with a fan. In fact, Doña also manages the whole mall. She is probably the most successful person in Avalor.
Military Base
Somewhere in rural Avalor not too far from the city. It holds the HQ of every Avaloran Military Branch aside from the royal guard and coast guard (it holds the army, marines, and navy). There is even a naval dock there. This place is where all lower-ranked soldiers are trained regardless of their branch. The air force is still being worked on.
The era this AU takes place in
This AU starts in a time where the world and its technological advances are like 2023-2024.
Transportation
The show's original ways of travel were by horse, coach/carriage, or ship. Now, there is travel by car, plane, train (though possibly never used in this AU), better looking ships, and the use of bikes and skates and skateboards etc. Jaquins will still be used, of course. But instead of horses, it would be either motorcycles, bikes, a car, or simply by foot. Horse riding would sometimes be used by the royal guard and for a hobby. And not all oversea trips will be by boat, some will be in a private jet. People will most commonly travel by air to places in the AU, though some ships will also be in this.
Technology/Social Media
Yes, technology has changed. There are computers, TVs, phones, tablets, the radio, arcade games, electricity, light, the internet, and power plants in the mountains of Avalor. There are also guns for people to use rather than swords and bows. Swords are used by the royal guard and crossbows are usually for hunting. Social media is used A LOT, and every real life app is given a different name to avoid copyright.
Music
Singers exist, bands exist, music apps and MP3s exist. Marlena is one of the more traditional artists of Avalor and makes music using genres that have existed before shuriki's attack. Also, there will not be singing in this au, since a story can't have a song...right?
Law Related
The police force and lawsuits are a thing. There is currently no separation of brances system in Avalor; the crown princess and grand council do everything. Small cases are probably run by smaller firms, but the "supreme court" is the grand council. The border patrol is minimum, having been more strict under Shuriki. This world is mostly filled with good people with no ill intentions, aside from some villains who purposefully avoid air travel and popular border crossings.
The Military
The ranking system is gonna be very much simplified since before, and different depending on which branch someone is in. Since the royal guard will be mentioned the most, ranks will be displayed from lowest to highest. The enlisted are: Private, Corporal, Sergeant, Staff Sergeant, Seargeant Major and Regimental Sergeant Major. Officers: 2nd Lieutenant, 1st Lieutenant, and Captain. Dur to the small size of the guard, there is only 1 captain and he/she oversees the entire royal guard, under the current king or queen of Avalor. More
And that's all! I hope this helps when you read the au and if you have any suggestions or ideas, I will hear them and put them in, as long as they're good.
Thanks for reading! :)
