(Prologue)
*Twelve Years Ago*
In the dark cold swamp with the moon being full and shining brightly like the sun stood a build house sitting all by itself on the land of a swamp. The owner of the whole entire property of swamp was currently sleeping in his bed after cooking a delicious meal that he prepped. The man who is actually a fairytale creature who is unliked by everyone else except for his own kind, as he is an infamous ogre with the great reputation of scarying the soul out of people with no issue. His name is Shrek who forever love to have his privacy and being alone. That is until tonight everything will change when hearing a few knocks at his own door.
KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK!
"What?." Shrek stood up from his bed in confusion for a moment until shaking his head, and resumed back to slee. "Huh, must be my crazy little imagination."
KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK!
Shrek sighed in frustration when getting out of his bed and go see who is at the door. Knowing that he has no friends that would come and visit let alone a few of his family members, in which they only come see him at the family reunion. But more or else it is the middle of the night and Shrek is now upset during this time. Managing to find himself in his living room and inches away from the door, Shrek took his time reaching his way to the doorknob.
"Now, who would dare come to my swamp and bang on my door?." Shrek reached and opened the door and getting ready to scare the person. That is until he saw no one there except a basket with something special inside. "What the?."
Shrek reached for the basket and lifted the small blanket to see his hunch was correct. There inside the basket is a small dark brown-skinned baby boy who was sleeping for a little bit until beginning to awaken. The little boy opens his eyes and sees the ogre right in front of him and responded very differently from any other people. The child laughed in pure joy while shocking Shrek who can not believe what his green ears were hearing, before making himself come back inside the house with the basket that had the baby in. After closing the door he then sat the baby down on the brown wooden coffee table, right before grabbing himself a seat in his light green leather chair before studying the child in front of him.
"Who would drop off a baby in the middle of the night?. Heck, who would come into the middle of a cold damp swamp in the first place?." Shrek asked himself when noticing a folded up piece of paper sitting in the basket, while still seeing the baby boy giggling and have his small arms out.
This puts a smile on the ogre's face as he reaches in to pull the baby out of his basket before grabbing the piece of paper. He placed the baby on his left shoulder and pat his small back while getting the chance to open the letter and read what was written in the paper to help figure out who drop the child off.
"Dear Ogre, I am the mother of the child that you see before. The reason why my only firstborn child is on your doorstep is that I can no longer give my son the proper living or future, and can not protect him from the cold-hearted outside world. However, Ogre, you are the only one that I trust that would take care of him. Yes, I know the history and reputation about you ogre's but deep down it is only in self-defense. Plus, you are one lonely ogre who needs company and has a reason to keep living. In This means, I have been keeping my eye on you for some time. And so I am giving you this opportunity. Please take good care of my little boy. He's yours now, let alone giving him a name". - Signed, The Mother.
Shrek put the letter down after reading such a message. He can not believe that someone was actually been invading his privacy and was watching him, and even he did not know about it as much as he does perimeter check around his land. But it does not matter at the moment since now that he is a new father. He put the sleeping child back into his basket and watch him sleep while thinking up a good name that fits best for his new son. It took about at least five minutes before finally thought of a perfectly appropriate name for the child.
"I got it." Shrek smiled and grabbed the basket and comfort his new son. "I'm going to name you Jason. Yes, Jason will be your name. My son."
*12 Years Now*"
Breakfast is ready Jason." Shrek yelled after making a few more crushed bugs pancakes.
"Coming!." Jason exit out of his room after a good washing up and putting his clothes.
His clothes were a light brown cloth shirt with a matching string pull pants and matching shoes. He also have messy black hair that he sometimes comb when either going out to the village and do some shopping for his dad. Thus, having black eyes that looked like pure pretty coal in which it brought out the nice side of Jason. Like his father would say that he looked tough and strong but, when breaking the rough coal he'll be a gentle kind person in which he naturally is no matter what. Once entering the kitchen dinner table and see his two favorite meals. Fresh cooked rat steaks and bug pancakes. He sat down and thanked his father for a job well done on his cooking.
"Wow, Dad this tatse good as always. So, what is the plan for the day?." asked Jason, before taking another bite of his rat steak.
"Well." Shrek took the moment to wipe his mouth with his shirt sleeve. "Well, I need for you to go grocery shopping for me today. We're getting low on ingredients and I need to prep our special dinner for tomorrow, since you do know that our father and son anniversary is just around the corner."
"Right. And we're going to make more warning signs for our property again right?." Jason asked, before drinking his orange juice.
"Exactly. It is so hard to get some privacy around here." said Shrek.
"And after I finish the grocery shopping can you please read me my favorite book?." Jason hoped when seeing his dad think about it.
Shrek raised his brow on the thought of it as it was quite humorous and odd at the same time. Sure he did not mind doing something like this despict his sons age but, as a father he have to set limits and such. "Don't you think you are a little bit too old for that book let alone reading it to you?."
"Oh, come on Dad." Jason whined a little bit. "It is my favorite book out of all the books we have!. Plus, you wanted me to become a famous writer and so why start it off by reading my inspiration."
Shrek swolled a piece of his pancakes and said. "Well, that is true as I wanted you to make my dream into a reality. After all who on gods green earth would wants to buy or publish a good book from an orge?."
Jason smiled nervously before raising his hand.
Shrek leaned his head to the right and smirked. "Besides you Jason."
"Ah, no fair Dad." whined Jason before resuming eating.
