Hi guys, Wolf here.
Well... as you may know I usually post my works on Sundays, but this is a chapter that has been ready for a long time and those who follow me on Ao3 probably know this fic, so this is a test to see how this fic will be received here on the site, so I'm going to post the fic today. This idea really came out of nowhere, I was just reading a digimon fic at some point listening to a song on my playlist until I heard a rap by Itadori, then I thought "Wow, Daisuke kind of reminds me of Itadori, before Shibuya, right?" And that's when the idea for this fic was born.
Yes, I know it was random, but most of my ideas are like that, random, they come out of nowhere, so I took the opportunity to write a bit hahahaha. I apologize if there are any grammatical errors, English is not my first language so I can make mistakes in translation sometimes. But if there are any, just let me know and I'll correct them as soon as possible.
Anyway, this fic is basically after the end of the manga (I'm using the assumption that only Itadori was in good enough condition and killed Sukuna) and will start at the beginning of Digimon Adventure Tri.
And that's it folks, I wish you all a GOOD READ.
"It's over... It's finally over..." murmured a young man covered in bandages, sitting on a chair in an infirmary that seemed crowded with several people lying on stretchers.
The boy was tall with slightly tanned skin, brown eyes and reddish hair, his face had a diagonal scar and another scar at the corner of his mouth. He had several bandages covering him with a battered and torn black school uniform with traces of blood on it, his upper uniform was open revealing his completely bandaged torso, this was Daisuke Motomiya, Ryomen Sukuna's former host and the one who killed the king of curses.
"Holy shit... it's over..." The trembling boy continued, leaning forward as he closed his eyes gratefully.
"Yes, it's finally over, Daisuke-kun..." declared a doctor approaching him with a tired expression.
She was a tall, pale-skinned woman with long brown hair, her eyes were a lighter shade of brown with large dark circles under them, with a small mole under her right eye. She was dressed in a surgeon's uniform with gloves covered in blood, this was Shoko Ieri.
"Shoko-san, how are they?" Daisuke asked as he stood up with a little difficulty.
He had used a lot of reverse energy during the battle and now it was taking its toll, he couldn't even walk properly without feeling exhausted, worse still he couldn't even heal himself now.
"...Apart from Maki and Yuta, I think it's difficult for the others to survive more than a week, I'll keep a watch on them until we know more. What about you? What do you plan to do now?" Shoko asked as she turned to Daisuke.
Daisuke stared at her in silence before looking at the other bodies on the stretchers, the notion that he was now free was unreal to him. It all started when his sensei Satoru Gojo and his friend Megumi Fushiguro found him next to Ryomen Sukuna's finger which he ate so that he could save everyone, starting a great nightmare for himself.
He fought curses, set his own execution date, discovered that his family was bigger than he had imagined, saw that other party die and even fought the king of curses himself, killing him.
If only that were the craziest thing in his life... The thing is, Daisuke already knew that the world was much bigger than the one he knew, when he was younger he learned that there was another world parallel to his world and in this other world there were fantastic creatures called digimon.
He went on great adventures with his friends at that time, alongside his friends and digimon partner Veemon, they fought against many dangers and won, keeping the two worlds separate until they faced Malomyotismon and had to separate the two worlds again.
For a while he lived as a normal human, but some things happened that made him distance himself from his old friends and family, so Daisuke went to live with his grandfather until he died, then he met jujutsu and the rest was history.
The reality was that he hadn't known what it was like to live a normal life since he was 12 and now he was almost 17.
"Honestly, I have no idea..." Daisuke declares, looking at the beds and each of the people in them.
Maki, Yuta Okkotsu, Hiromi Higuruma, Kinji Hakari, Fumihiko Takaba and several other wizards who had entered the final battle. So many powerful people were strapped to stretchers while he was standing here.
"Why don't you take some time off? A gap year as it were." Shoko offered with a sigh, making Daisuke widen his eyes and stare at her.
"What? But what about the curses?" Daisuke asked in surprise, causing the woman to nod.
"There aren't any in the reports and you're the only one who's still considered a special grade, let the other lower grade wizards fight." "The life of a wizard is hard, but there's really no one to hold you back here Daisuke. Unlike most of us, you still have a family out there who worry about you and miss you."
Daisuke stared in silence before sighing and starting to walk away, but he soon stopped in front of the door and turned to Shoko.
"...Thank you and I'm sorry about him." Daisuke declares before leaving the infirmary, leaving Shoko standing there in the infirmary with the bodies on the stretchers.
She stood still for a few seconds before approaching one of the bodies, returning to her treatment of them.
(Scene break.)
Daisuke has changed.
A long time ago, having so many people staring at him would have made him embarrassed, but today? He couldn't care less, after so much death and blood, a bit of staring felt like a breath of fresh air. At the same time, he couldn't help glancing at someone reading a newspaper, the "Shibuya massacre" and the "destruction of Shinjuku", the two most recent events in his life and his biggest failures.
He sighed as he leaned back against the subway seat, there were still a few minutes to go before he arrived in Odaiba. It had been a few years since he had been home, the last time was when his father died and he had to move in with his grandfather, which made Daisuke remember Jun Motomiya and his stepmother, Ayano Motomiya, making him wonder how they were now.
"Mommy, what happened to his face?" Daisuke heard a child ask while pointing at him, which made the boy's mother feel ashamed and correct her son.
Daisuke couldn't help but sigh, he wanted to get home soon.
(Meanwhile)
A creature resembling a humanoid dragon ran across a large stone plain as explosions echoed behind it. The creature had blue and white scales all over its body with a yellow line on it and a small horn on the tip of its nose, this was Veemon.
Veemon continued to run desperately without stopping before stumbling to a halt. He shivered a little before getting up and continuing to run.
"Daisuke... I need you..." Thought the running creature.
(Back with Daisuke)
"Hmm?" Suddenly Daisuke's eyes widen and he looks around quickly, something almost no one notices before he returns to his original position, but this time he's completely alert.
"What was that I just felt? It felt familiar." Daisuke thinks, clenching his fists, preparing for any sign of attack that might come.
(Some time later)
Daisuke sighed as he walked out of the station, having finally reached Odaiba, he stopped for a few moments to watch the people walking around him. It was a little frustrating to see people walking around unaware of the danger that constantly surrounded them, curses, digimons, the world presented more dangers than they knew and yet people lived peacefully, he felt envious of their ignorance in this case.
With that, he began to walk through the streets of the city, noting how everything looked the same as he remembered. In fact, it was frustrating, after so long in jujutsu he had become accustomed to abandoned places or rubble, as well as the smell of blood. Daisuke suddenly stopped in front of a ramen restaurant that seemed to be full.
He stood watching the place, remembering when he once wanted to be a great cook who would make the best noodles ever, in his childish words.
What would his past self say if he saw him now?
"Excuse me, sir?" A voice called out from behind him, making Daisuke turn to face what seemed to be a few students from the school, who seemed to freeze at the sight of him.
"They probably want to go to the restaurant." Daisuke thought before turning away so that they could enter the place, and with that he began to walk away again.
He continued walking for a long time, passing various places he remembered from his childhood and from fighting alongside his fellow digidestined against other dark digimons. After a few minutes of walking, he soon found himself standing in front of his old apartment, which he had lived in with his father, stepmother and sister before he left.
Daisuke took a deep breath trying to muster up the courage he knew he had, he raised the digi egg of courage, faced several special grade curses and even fought head-on against the king of curses himself. He could do something as simple as knock on a door, of course Daisuke could do that, it was so simple, just knock on the door.
He slowly raised his arm and placed his fist in front of the door.
"Come on Daisuke, just knock on the door." Mumbled Daisuke before he slowly lowered his arm.
"...Shit, I don't think they'd recognize me now, I don't even recognize myself now." Thinks Daisuke angrily before turning away from the door.
(Scene break.)
"I'm really confused, aren't I?" murmured Daisuke, sitting on a park bench looking at the people passing by, unaware of his daydreams.
He'd barely taken a break for thirty minutes and was already having a breakdown, this must be some record. It almost made Daisuke wish for some curse to appear so he could de-stress, or some kind of imbalance between the human and digital worlds. It was funny to think that he used to love this time, but after living through hell it seemed to have changed him.
Suddenly Daisuke raised his head and arm to catch a ball that looked like it was going to hit him. The boy stared at the ball for a few moments before noticing a small child, no more than 10 years old if he was right, approaching him with an impressed look on his face.
"That was amazing, Onii-san, can you give me the ball back?" asked the excited child, making Daisuke stand up and spin the ball in his hands, a faraway look on his face before he let it go.
At that moment, Daisuke lifted his leg and began to kick the ball a few times, balancing it, causing the child in front of him to get excited and thrilled by the trick. Daisuke continued for a few seconds before looking at the child.
"Hey, do you want to try it too?" Daisuke asks, causing the child to nod. With that, he nudges the boy, who tries to do the same, but soon fails.
"Ah... I couldn't..." The boy laments, before Daisuke stops the ball and kneels down in front of the boy.
"Don't worry about it, you just have to keep practicing and trying until you succeed, okay?" Daisuke assured the boy, making him look up and smile.
"Got it! Thanks, Onii-san, I'll try my best." With that, the boy picks up the ball and runs back to where he came from, under the gaze of Daisuke who's eyes widen when he sees a little girl waving at the boy, only that little girl is very familiar to him.
In the blink of an eye, the girl was completely different, but she was soon reunited with her friend and they both took off running.
"Ah... I see, this is where I met you, isn't it?" murmurs Daisuke with a nostalgic look.
(Flashback)
A younger Daisuke grumbled as he tried to hit a goal with a ball, the boy took a deep breath before running and shooting, the ball flew until it hit the post and hit Daisuke in the stomach, knocking him to the ground.
"Ouch..." Daisuke cries with a few tears in the corners of his eyes.
No, he shouldn't cry! He was a big boy and big boys didn't cry.
Swallowing his sobs, Daisuke stood up before anyone approached him.
"That was a good try." A voice commented, causing Daisuke to turn around and see three children.
One of them was a boy older than him by a year or two, he had messy brown hair, brown eyes and fair skin, he was dressed in a blue shirt and shorts with a white boot.
Next to him was a girl who looked the same age, she had short red hair with green eyes and fair skin, she was wearing a yellow shirt with white shorts and black boots.
Behind the older boy was a girl who looked to be the same age as Daisuke, she had short brown hair with a clip on the left side, brown eyes and fair skin. She was wearing a white dress with yellow sneakers.
"Did you see that?" Daisuke asked, embarrassed, with rosy cheeks.
"Y-Yes... you're b-okay, right? That ball looked like it hurt." Murmured the younger girl, causing Daisuke to turn his head away.
"N-no! I-I'm a big boy, I didn't even cry about it!" Daisuke declares energetically, causing the older boy to nod.
"Got it, hey, why don't we play together? All of us." The boy offers, smiling at Daisuke, who looks at the three of them before smiling back.
"Sure, that could be fun! I'm Daisuke Motomiya, aren't you?" Daisuke asks, smiling at them.
"Ah, I'm Taichi Kamiya, the one next to me is my best friend Sora Takenouchi and the one here with me is..." Taichi starts to introduce everyone, but Hikari interrupts him.
"I-I'm Hikari Kamiya!"
"Nice to meet you!"
(End of flashback)
Daisuke suddenly snorted and put his hands in his pockets. How long had it been since he had thought about his childhood? Perhaps most of his good memories had been locked away thanks to Shibuya and...
"Kugisaki...?" Whispers Daisuke with wide eyes as he sees his friend Nobara Kugisaki on the ground with part of her face blown off.
At that moment, Daisuke bolted towards the tree, grabbing the trunk before he promptly started vomiting. He could feel his whole body shaking as he vomited, tears starting to fall from his eyes before he fell to his knees on the ground breathing heavily trying to catch his breath.
"Kugisaki..." Sobbed Daisuke without noticing how he was squeezing the tree hard enough to split the wood.
"That voice..." He heard someone speak behind him before he felt someone approach and put a hand on his shoulder. "Hey, are you okay?"
Hearing the question, Daisuke swallows dryly before turning around and staring wide-eyed at who he saw.
It was a woman with long red hair, brown eyes and fair skin. She was wearing a long-sleeved black shirt, a dark skirt with long black socks and boots of the same color, but what surprised Daisuke most was that he knew her.
"Dweeb?" Jun asked in surprise.
This was Jun Motomiya, his older half-sister, or adopted older sister. He honestly didn't even know how to classify his confusing family tree anymore, but what he did know was that this was his sister, someone he hadn't seen for almost 4 or 5 years.
He didn't even realize he'd stood up, Daisuke was now the same size as Jun, and the two of them stared at each other before he wiped his eyes of the tears.
"Hey Jun..."
"...Hey Jun?" Jun repeated angrily before punching Daisuke who didn't even react to his sister's blow, in fact he didn't even feel the pain of it. "Is that all you're going to say to me? 'Hey Jun'? You really are a special kind of asshole!"
"You have no idea..." Daisuke thought, turning to face his sister, who suddenly came forward, hugging Daisuke and putting her face to his chest.
"You idiot... just don't ever leave like that again..." The woman asked almost tearfully, making Daisuke stare at her before slowly returning the embrace.
"I promise..." Daisuke assures her, hating the fact that he could lie so easily now.
(Scene break.)
"Thanks for the tea, Mom." Daisuke thanks her, quickly sipping the cup of tea, not bothered by the heat of the drink as it passes down his throat.
"...You're welcome." He nods at the woman with a worried look, something Daisuke appreciated.
She was a tall woman with fair skin, brown hair that went down to her shoulders and brown eyes; she was wearing a long-sleeved beige shirt with pants and socks.
The woman in front of him wasn't really his mother by blood, but his stepmother, the one who married his father after Kenjaku possessed Kaori and disappeared after conceiving Daisuke. He loved her as a son should love his mother, something that Jun also shared with him.
It was horrible to think about his family tree, his father Jin had originally married Kaori who was a single mother, Jun's mother who had just been born, the two of them lived very happily for a few months until Kaori had an accident, making her sterile. Jin was devastated because he had always wanted a child of his own, but he still loved Jun and Kaori just the same, until Kaori returned one day, possessed by Kenjaku, and together they gave birth to Daisuke.
They lived together for a while, but soon Kenjaku disappeared without a trace of Kaori, and Jin was left alone with his two sons, Jun and Daisuke, having to look after them with only the help of Jin's father. That is until Jin met Ayano on one of his trips to the cafe and the two became close until they married, with her becoming Jun and Daisuke's stepmother.
It helped that Ayano was sterile and always wanted children too, so she treated Jun and Daisuke as her own.
"Daisuke... What's happened to you?" Ayano asked worriedly, looking at Daisuke, something that Jun also copied.
"...I've grown up, I guess." Daisuke comments distantly before looking at his mother and a picture behind her on the wall that has Jin, Ayano, Jun, Daisuke and Veemon, all five of them smiling at the picture. "I missed you mom, both of you."
"Daisuke, that's not what she wanted..." Jun began angrily, but Ayano stopped her.
"No Jun, your brother will tell us when he's ready." Ayano declares, causing Jun to turn to her in disbelief.
"But mother..."
"He told us about Veemon and the digital world when he thought the time was right, we must wait until Daisuke is ready to tell us, until then we'll give him all the support he needs." Ayano assures her sternly, making Daisuke look at her gratefully.
"Thanks mom, I promise I'll tell you... I just... it's hard for me to talk about it." Daisuke declared, causing Ayano to nod.
"Don't try too hard, but remember that we're here if you need us." Ayano reminds the boy, who smiles at her.
"I know... I... thank you." Daisuke smiled at the woman, but the two noticed that despite his honesty and gratitude, that smile wasn't like the others they'd received from him, which contained so much joy that it was simply contagious.
This one was more tired.
"I'm going to my room, okay? I had a long trip here from Shijuku." Daisuke declared as he got up and went to his room, not seeing how the two women's eyes widened when they heard where he came from.
Daisuke calmly closed the door to his room and looked around, the place was exactly as he remembered it, except for the tidying up his mother probably did. He calmly approached his old bed, sitting down on it before looking around at the blue and white painted walls, his furniture, games, computer and means.
Daisuke's eyes lingered on the device before he stood up and walked over to the table to pick up his digivice. He stared at the device for a few seconds before sighing, another thing hard to forget, his Digimon partner
How would Veemon react to seeing him now? Daisuke was more of a monster than his own digimon partner. A tightness formed in Daisuke's chest as he squeezed his old digivice remembering the time he had Veemon by his side.
They were more than partners, they were practically brothers in everything but blood. Despite this, he knew that if Veemon knew the truth he would still accept him, because his partner always saw the good in him, even if Daisuke himself couldn't see it now.
A laugh echoed when Daisuke thought of Choso and Aoi meeting Veemon, they would surely hit it off instantly... if they were alive.
"Daisuke..."
Daisuke's eyes widened as he began to feel a familiar warmth in front of him, which made him raise his head and see Choso smiling at him, with a pained expression as fire covered him.
Choso was a tall, muscular man with pale skin, long black hair tied back and eyes reddened with dark circles, he was wearing a kind of white kimono with a purple tunic.
"Choso...?" Frozen Daisuke murmured, looking at his older brother as tears fell from his eyes.
"I'm sorry for being useless during your training. I'm sorry for leaving you again." Choso declares as the fire rises, consuming him completely. "Thank you, Daisuke, for being my little brother."
"CHOSO!" Daisuke exclaimed, advancing towards Choso, only for the image of his brother burning to disappear.
The boy stood in the middle of the room with his hand outstretched before slowly lowering it and falling to the floor, sitting with his back against the bed as he cried.
"Hey Dweeb, what's going on in there? I heard you scream." Jun declared as she opened the door, but stopped when she saw her brother and the situation he was in.
Immediately, Jun ran into his brother's room and hugged him, to her surprise, he accepted the hug and responded by hugging her and crying while continuing to hold her, almost desperately. Jun did nothing but hold him there, did he want to keep what had happened a secret? It was fine with her, but she wasn't going to leave him alone, not anymore.
(Some time later.)
Daisuke squirmed in his bed before getting up and looking around until he noticed that the blanket was covering him, his digivice was next to his bed. He slowly stood up before taking the object in his hands.
However, at that very moment, Daisuke felt something, a pulsation of energy, however it was something that didn't resemble cursed energy, but he felt it close to his heart like a squeeze. Immediately Daisuke stood up with a serious look on his face and looked around the room, preparing his cursed energy to fight.
Again the feeling returned, making Daisuke's eyes widen, before he noticed that his computer had turned on and seemed to have a static screen.
Noticing this, Daisuke looked at his digivice and noticed how it seemed to be displaying the same screen and shaking.
"...That doesn't look good." Grumbled Daisuke as his arms began to change into a more monstrous appearance.
Once again Daisuke felt that pulse and became completely focused on the screen, despite not having a digimon by his side, he could still fight and defend himself, that's what he'd had to do for the last 4 years, a digimon seemed easy compared to Sukuna now.
The computer screen began to expand as the cursed energy built up in Daisuke's fists, he was preparing to punch the digimon or curse that appeared in front of him.
Suddenly the screen exploded in a strong glow that didn't bother Daisuke, but the form that appeared next caused all the cursed energy in his fist to dissipate. In front of him was Veemon, his digimon partner, who looked exhausted as he took a deep breath until he saw Daisuke.
"Daisuke... I've finally found you, I'm so happy..." declared Veemon before he collapsed, but before he hit the ground, Daisuke stepped forward, taking his partner in his arms before lifting him up with an incredulous expression.
"Veemon..." Daisuke murmured, wide-eyed as he looked at his friend. "What happened to you?"
(Meanwhile.)
A large shadow looked down at three bodies lying on the ground with three digimon knocked out inside craters looking wounded. The sky above them was red as thunder echoed, illuminating the figure, revealing a large metallic knight in dark golden armor. At the same time it also illuminated some digivices next to each of the fallen bodies, they were digivices similar to Daisuke's, these in red, yellow and black.
And that's all for today folks, let me know what you think of the fic, did you like it? No? What did you think of the way I approached Daisuke/Itadori's trauma? Good? Bad?
I hope you guys enjoyed it, see ya.
