Things Change

"My name is Alexander. Right now, me and my brothers are in quite a predicament."

It was a moonlit night in the city of New York. Things seemed normal except things weren't so normal, as five figures standing in the shadows in an alleyway were cornered. The reason for them being cornered was the fact that a large number of street punks approached them, wielding items like pipes, chains, baseball bats etc… as weapons.

One of the shadowed figures squinted their eyes at these punks, ready to put them in their place.

"All five of us were up against the wall in a trash strewn alley, being cornered by the supposed toughest street gang on the East Side."

The street punks all adorned the same symbol: a purple oriental dragon.

"Look at the freaks and geek."

"What's with the dweeby costumes?"

"This ain't Halloween."

"You're going down, punks." The one who was clearly the leader added as he pulled out a staff and spun it. He wore a green and purple coat and had long turquoise hair. "Nobody messes with the Purple Dragons. Especially wearing stupid turtle costumes."

The shadowed figures all stepped forward and revealed themselves.

The reason they commented on their appearance was because four of the five were all actually humanoid turtles, all of whom were in various shades of green and wore elbow and knee pads as well as belts. And these turtles all wore masks that went over their eyes, all in different colours.

From left to right, the first of them wore a purple mask and he wielded a wooden bo staff with purple wrapping in the middle for grip.

Next was a turtle with an orange mask, wielding two nunchucks with orange wrapping.

Then the next turtle wore a red mask and wielded two sais with red wrappings on the handles.

Now was the turtle with a blue mask, wielding two straight bladed katanas with blue wrapping on the handles and square tsubas.

And finally, the odd one out, a male human with short brown hair and blue eyes, wearing a white long sleeve henley with the sleeves pulled up to the elbows, blue jeans, black fingerless gloves and black and white trainers. He wielded a straight bladed, double edged katana with white wrappings on the handle and no tsuba on it.

The turtle with the blue mask pulled out his second katana from one of the two scabbards on his back and narrowed his eyes, gritting his teeth as the human growled.

"That loser is so wrong about one thing: my brothers weren't wearing costumes."

All five of them let out a battle cry at the same time before they leapt at all the Purple Dragons, ready to give them a well deserved beatdown.

Earlier that night….

It was a standard night in New York, everyone finished work, went out to be with friends and family, some partying, some staying at home, all mundane stuff.

Of course, that was on the street level.

Underneath in the sewers, there was a rather unique family, who were all in the middle of conducting a training session.

In their home, the only source of light came from a single candle, which rested on top of a walking stick that belonged to a humanoid rat with grey fur, wearing a brown kimono. His name was Splinter, and he is the master and father to his five sons.

"Remember, to be a true ninja, you must become one with the shadows. Darkness gives the ninja power, while light reveals the ninja's presence. Now can you extinguish this flame without revealing yourselves?" He told his sons, all of whom were lying in wait to take action, hiding in the shadows.

Splinter then spun the candle in the air, catching it with his free hand before closing his eyes, waiting for whoever would make their move first.

He lowered the candle in time as the first of his sons leapt to try and extinguish the candle, only to instead miss and crash right into a wall, his bo staff hitting the floor.

"Too noisy, Donatello." Splinter pointed out with a slight grin, as Donatello, or Don, or Donnie, made a noise when he leapt, giving himself away.

The next brother to make their move jumped towards Splinter as he spun one of his nunchucks. But as he reached Splinter, the rat stood up and moved the candle away from him, causing him to crash right into Donnie, the two moaning and groaning in pain.

"Too clumsy, Michelangelo." Splinter said as he closed his eyes and sat back down, since Michelangelo, or Mikey, was too blunt and wasn't thoughtful about his approach.

Now the third brother crept up behind Splinter, wielding his sais. As he reached Splinter, he launched at him, but Splinter ducked, causing the turtle to land on his feet and face Splinter, who got to his feet and took a few steps back, eyeing his son, who spun his sais before charging at him.

Splinter got to his knees and stuck his walking stick out, making the turtle trip and crash into Donnie and Mikey, all three groaning as Splinter got back on his feet.

"Poor choice, Raphael." Splinter said as he opened his eyes. Raphael, or Raph, was always like that, being reckless and letting his emotions get the better of him.

Now, unbeknownst to him, his fourth and fifth sons were above him, hanging onto the pipes. These two had their katanas on their backs and opened their eyes, nodding to each other.

They let go of the pipes, pulling out their katanas and sliced at the candle, not only slicing the top half off, but also in half so that the two could both have the lit candle, now candles, to themselves.

This actually managed to surprise Splinter as the two brothers landed on their feet and knees and caught the candles on their swords, revealing themselves, a human and a turtle.

The two then blew the candles out and the whole lair was now engulfed in pitch black darkness until Splinter turned on all the lights with the switch next to him.

The two brothers grinned and fist bumped as they threw and caught their candles as the others got up and joined up with them.

"Well done, Leonardo and Alexander." Splinter congratulated the two. Leonardo, or Leo, and Alexander, or Alex, were usually the best when it came to training and learning from their master and father, which did get on Raph's nerves.

"Teacher's pets." He grumbled.

"Says the ninja dropout." Alex remarked as he and Leo threw their candles at Raph, who caught them.

"Ooh!" Mikey and Donnie mocked with grins as Raph squished the candles as he growled right into Leo and Alex's faces.

"My sons!" Splinter said sharply to stop any further hostility, making all five brothers look to their father, who pressed a hand against his forehead as he sighed.

"My sons, if you are to become true ninja, you must work harder." He told them all, who sat on their knees in front of him. From Splinter's left to right sat Donnie, Raph, Alex, Leo and Mikey. "Your path in life will not be an easy one."

As he spoke, Mikey's attention was drawn towards a fly that flew by for a moment.

"The outside world will not be a friendly place for you, even you, Alexander." Splinter told them all, as even Alex understood that the outside world can be dangerous, despite the fact that being a human meant he can be accepted among his own kind. "You five are different in ways the surface dwellers would never understand. To survive, you must master these skills I teach you, ninjutsu powers of stealth and secrecy."

The fly came back and Mikey was so annoyed that he tried catching it, but it evaded him.

"You must become kage, shadow warriors, and you must never be discovered by the outside world." Splinter finished his speech, pointing his walking stick at his sons just as Mikey caught the fly by slapping his hands together.

Splinter was about to give him a word or two about his behaviour when, much to everyone's shock and surprise, their lair started shaking.

"Huh? What is that noise?" Splinter questioned as his sons all got to their feet, looking around with concern as debris started falling from the ceiling.

"Whoa, earthquake!" Mikey exclaimed as he and everyone backed up, except for Donnie.

"In New York? Possible, but not likely." Donnie said thoughtfully until part of the wall fell in front of him, snapping him out of his thoughtful mode and joining up with everyone else.

Then a small hole burst out of the wall and some kind of small bipedal robot with a light that seemed to be an eye and sharp teeth and a mouth entered with a roar.

This made all five brothers pull out their weapons, ready to fight as it had company with other robots just like it, all approaching the family.

"What are those things?" Leo asked, utterly perplexed, as everyone else was.

"New York City cockroaches?" Mikey guessed with nothing but sarcasm, scratching the top of his head.

"Whatever they are, they picked the wrong party to crash!" Raph snarled before he kicked one of the robots that approached, sending it flying until it crashed into the floor on its back, which made the other robots attack the brothers.

One charged at Donnie, who swung his staff at it, launching it back. Another approached him and he swung again, this time, it caught the staff with its teeth, making the turtle lift it up and smash it against the floor.

Alex charged and then slid on the floor, slicing at any of the robots that tried to attack him, now just pieces of scrap.

Mikey then jumped at any and all robots in his way, destroying six to seven of them.

"Hey, Leo, think fast!" He said as he grabbed another and threw it towards Leo, sliced a robot before leaping and sliced another before cutting the one Mikey threw at him, exploding when it landed on the floor.

Meanwhile, Splinter was separated from his sons and swung his walking stick at the robots, which both Alex and Leo noticed with worry.

"Guys, we gotta help Master Splinter!" Alex cried out and they all charged towards Splinter.

"Come on!" Leo added as they continued to destroy all of these robots, some of which started biting through the support beams of their lair. Raph was too busy stabbing some more robots to notice that the roof above him was cracking, meaning it was about to cave in.

Leo notices and grabs Raph just as the roof collapsed.

"Look out!" He cried out and pulled Raph back, the debris landing on top of two robots.

All the brothers stopped and saw Splinter on the other side of the debris, still fighting until more of the ceiling fell down between them, making all five gasp before charging in through the smoke that was kicked up by the debris.

"Dammit!" Alex cursed.

"Oh, no!" Donnie muttered.

"Master Splinter!" Raph cried out.

They all got through the smoke, finding a wall of debris blocking their way.

"Master Splinter! Master Splinter!" Leo cried out, trying to move some debris, but couldn't even move it an inch, and didn't get a response from Splinter. "NO!"

As Leo, Alex and Donnie kept trying to figure a way through the debris, Raph took his anger out on a robot that activated, stomping it until it blew a spark.

"What the shell are those things?" Mike asked as he stared at one of them, utterly perplexed.

"Whatever they were…" He said before kicking it away. "...they're junk now."

"Come on, guys, we have to find Master Splinter!" Alex reminded the pair as Leo tried looking through a small gap in the debris, but couldn't see anything.

"Master Splinter, can you hear me?" Leo called out, getting no response. "Donatello, any way to -?"

He was cut off when he and the others heard beeping, turning to see Donnie on his shell-cell, a device everyone in the family has, including Splinter.

"What are you doing?" Leo asked him.

"Shell-cell, I'm calling Master Splinter. I hope." Donnie replied.

On the other side of the debris, Splinter's shell-cell was ringing, which woke him up, as he lay unconscious beforehand. He sat up and rubbed his head before pulling out his shell-cell and opened it.

"Hmm… which button do you press to answer this thing?" He said, very much confused by how it worked, but he didn't need to bother, as he already answered and all the brothers were relieved to hear he was alright.

"Hello?" Splinter said as Leo took Donnie's shell-cell.

"Master Splinter, are you alright?" He asked.

"Hello?"

"Master Splinter…."

"Stupid device." Splinter groaned.

"You don't have to press any buttons. You already answered it." Leo pointed out, which left Splinter somewhat embarrassed.

"Ah, Leonardo, whatever those mechanical menaces are, they have managed to eat through the support structure of our home. We must leave right away." Splinter explained as Leo put the call on speaker, so that his brothers could hear as well. "Meet me at the old drainage junction near south point."

As Splinter was talking, Mikey moved in closer, nudging against Raph, who shoved him away, making the orange clad turtle to groan in pain.

Donnie then pulled out an old map of the sewers from his bag and blew the dust off as he opened it.

"Well, Donnie?" Alex asked as he looked over his shoulder.

"If we take the south conduit, it'll intersect with the old drainage tunnel." Donnie said, grinning at everyone.

"We'll meet you there, Sensei." Leo told Splinter before ending the call.

"What did he say? What did he say? Did he mention me?" Mikey asked as he joined back up with his brothers, resulting in Alex and Raph shoving him away.

"You really need to take that ego of yours down a peg or four." Alex groaned, shaking his head.

After a few minutes of Donnie packing some essentials in his duffle bag, he joined back up with Leo, Alex and Raph, who stood by the entrance, while Mikey was looking at a broken pipe that was dripping water.

"Goodbye, broken pipe. Goodbye grungy pay phone. Goodbye, dented manhole cover. Goodbye, home, sweet home." He said dramatically, Raph walking up to him.

"Hello, cruel world." He added before grabbing Mikey. "Come on."

All five of them walked through the hole that the robots made and walked through the sewer, noticing more holes in the floor and footprints from those robots.

"It would seem those robots came through here." Alex said with a frown.

"These walls are seriously compromised. It's lucky this roof hasn't caved in." Donnie pointed out before they all stopped on a sight that made him wish he didn't say those words.

"You were saying?" Raph questioned, as there was in fact the roof did cave in, just front of them, making Leo snarl in frustration.

"Can't go forward, can't go back." He pointed out the predicament they were in.

"Looks like we go up." Raph suggested, making his way over to a nearby ladder that led up to the streets.

"Hitting the surface is a bad idea." Leo said, grabbing Raph's arm as he was about to go up.

"We've got no other way to go, Leo." Donnie pointed out.

"Yeah, we don't really have much of a choice if we want to meet up with Master Splinter." Alex added, stressing the situation they were in, making Leo groan, as he knew they were right, especially Alex.

"Alright, but we're only going up to go down the next manhole. Got it? No fooling around. Remember what Sensei said. It's dangerous for us to be seen, let alone captured. We need to stay out of sight." Leo reminded them.

"Don't worry, Leo. We understand. Besides, even if I'm seen, they won't freak out." Alex told him.

"Yeah, we got it the first thousand times, Leo. Just follow my lead." Raph added before he climbed up the ladder.

Once he reached the manhole cover, he lifted it off and peeked his head out, finding that he was in an alleyway. Seeing that no one was around to see him, Raph jumped out and hid against a wall, while Leo poked his head out.

"Come on, guys, move it." Mikey complained, as he was underneath Alex, who was underneath Leo. "I don't want to be staring at Alex's butt any longer than I have to."

"At least it ain't your butt." Alex retorted as Leo and Raph heard an approaching vehicle.
"Shh! Guys!" Leo hissed as he ducked while Raph pressed up against the wall in the shadows while a red scooter passed by.

Then as Raph checked to see if the coast was clear, he heard chatter coming from inside the building he was next to and then jumped on top of a canopy that was placed over the door as a couple walked out in laughter.

Raph then jumped onto a lamppost , where he saw another manhole cover in an alley on the other side of the street.

"Ah, manhole cover, twelve o'clock." He said, satisfied.

He jumped across the street and hid behind a parked car as another came down the street.

However, as he got up to make his way to the manhole cover, he saw a blue armoured truck headed his way, making him groan and hide from view.

"Now what?" Raph questioned as he watched the truck backed up into the alleyway. He then hid behind the wall and peeked around the corner as it stopped and its headlights were turned off. Then some punks exited the vehicle and entered through a door into the building next to them, chuckling amongst themselves.

Once they were all gone, Raph ran up to the truck and looked to see that one of the tires was directly on top of the manhole cover.

"Great. Just great. The old turtle luck working true to form." He grumbled before he vented his frustration out by kicking the truck.

"Way to be stealthy, Raph." Leo said sarcastically as he and the others were by the corner of the building.

"Yeah, I don't think they heard you in Joisey." Mikey joked.

"It's like you're trying to get us caught." Alex added.

"Give me a hand." Raph demanded as he pointed at the truck.

Mikey put his hands up as he was about to joke some more.

"Don't even think about it, Mikey." Raph snarled, wagging his finger 'no'.

Leo pointed at Mikey, who was behind him, shaking his head in annoyance while Alex smacked the back of his head.

"Ah, forget you guys. I'll push it myself." Raph then muttered as he made his way to the back of the truck, where the doors were open, trying to push it with all his strength.

But then he heard chatter from the door to the building and outlines of those punks, meaning they'll pop out any second now.

"Raph, get over here, right now!" Alex hissed quietly, waving for Raph to join him and the others.

"Come on, Raph, hurry!" Leo hissed quietly as well.

However, Raph ignored them and jumped into the truck as the door opened.

"No!" Leo and Mikey hissed, the latter covering his eyes as he said "Poor choice, Raphael."

"Is he seriously that dumb?" Alex questioned Raph's sanity.
"Did you see the way that guy squirmed when we took his cash?" One of the punks, who had long turquoise hair and wore a green and purple coat, said as he and his fellow punks came out with duffle bags. "Sheep, man. Sheep to be fleeced by us wolves."

All of them laughed as they threw the bags into the truck, Raph hiding up in the ceiling.

The punks then closed the truck and the one who was clearly their leader pressed in a code that acted as a lock.

They all then got in the truck and drove off, Alex, Leo, Donnie and Mikey all hiding from view as they watched it drive off.

"Oh, man." Donnie moaned with concern.

"Imagine their surprise when they open the back of that truck." Mikey said with a playful grin.

"They'd get crazy, to say the least." Alex replied.

"This is exactly what Master Splinter was talking about." Leo pointed out. "We've gotta get him out of there."

"Last one to the roof hatched from a rotten egg!" Donnie remarked as they all ran and he then pole vaulted up a fire escape.

"I wasn't hatched from an egg, Donnie!" Alex reminded him as he leapt up and caught up with him.

Eventually, they all made it to the roof and ran to the edge of the building, where they saw the truck continuing through the streets.

"We'll be able to cut them off at Third and First." Alex told them as he ran off after the truck.

"If we run like crazy." Donnie said as he, Leo and Mikey ran after him.

"Is there any other way to run?" Mikey retorted.

Just as the truck turned a corner, the four all leapt across a gap from one building to another.

"Ha, ha, yeah!" Mikey laughed as he raced ahead of the others, continuing jumping from one building to another. "You guys are too slow!"

He stopped and turned, only to find his brothers having caught up and flipped over him before continuing off running.

"And you are too cocky, Mikey!" Alex replied back.

"Hey!" Mikey whined before he raced after them.

They all continued jump across buildings, but whereas Alex, Leo and Donnie moved efficiently and with a natural flow, Mikey was excessive and flamboyant as he slid down the top of a rooftop door and then jumped off, using a nunchuck to use as a zipline across a washing line, but crashed into a green sheet, making him fall and crash onto a rooftop.

As he removed it from his face, he sniffed it.

"Mm, springtime fresh." He grinned.

"Come on, Mikey!" Alex called out as he, Leo and Donnie ran past him and then jumped off.

Mikey threw off the sheet and followed them.

Down in the sewers, Splinter made his way through and found himself walking towards light, where he found his destination: a large room full of pipes.

"Ah, the old drainage junction." He said before noticing that his sons were nowhere to be seen. "Now where are my sons?"

He decided he'll just wait for them, but before he could relax, he heard a noise coming from below him and saw the ground beneath him cracking open.

"Huh?"

He backed away as another part of the ground cracked open before they exploded with more of those robots jumping out and landing in front of him, snapping their dentures and roaring at a concerned Splinter.

Back up on the streets, the truck drove through the city still, Raph now looking out through one of the back windows.

The truck soon drove down an alleyway and backed up and parked so that the front faced the street.

As the punks exited the vehicle, Raph ducked underneath the window to avoid being seen.

All of the punks made their way towards a door to enter a building when their leader stopped the largest of them, who wielded a baseball bat that had screws embedded in it.

"Hey, Two Ton, watch the truck. We wouldn't want somebody to steal our stolen money." The leader ordered before laughing and following after his fellow punks.

As Two Ton paced back and forth, guarding the truck, the other Turtles and Alex caught up, watching from above in the shadows.

Two Ton turned and was about to walk when he heard a can rattling nearby.

"Huh?" He muttered as he looked where he heard the sound, only to find nothing, which perplexed him.

He then felt someone tapping him on the shoulder, making him turn to see Mikey, who was shrouded in shadow.

"Hey, this is a no parking zone." He remarked before holding out a strip of paper. "Here's your ticket and here's your fine."

He then kicked Two Ton in the chest, launching him into the truck, knocking him out in the process.

"Nice work, Mikey." Leo said as he jumped down, pretty impressed.

"Yeah, not bad." Alex added as he landed as well.

"Eh, it's a ninja thing." Mikey shrugged as Donnie joined them and they stood in front of the back doors to the truck.

"Now, let's get Raph out of there." Leo said as Raph yelled and pounded on the door, but they couldn't hear what he was saying as the glass muffled his words.

"Man, whatever happened to good old fashioned padlocks?" Mikey questioned as they saw how advanced the lock was.

"Heh. Where's the fun in that?" Donnie grinned eagerly as he pulled out a couple of screwdrivers from his bag, twirling them. "This one's all mine."

As he started working on the lock, Raph continued yelling and pounding on the door.

"What's that, Raphael?" Mikey joked, as he couldn't resist the opportunity. "You're gonna have to speak up, dude. I can't hear you."

This made Raph growl before he punched the door.

"Okay, I heard that." Mikey said.

"I'm trying to work here." Donnie frowned at Mikey, now wearing a pair of goggles.

"You do know he'll give you an ass whooping when he gets out, right?" Alex pointed out to Mikey, who gulped.

Back in the drainage junction, Splinter was now cornered by four of these robots, which all closed in on him until one of them bit onto his kimono. He swatted it away with his rather strong tail and it crashed right into a wall, which didn't phase it as it shook off and snapped its dentures at him.

He held his walking stick, ready to fight them off right as two of these robots snapped their dentures and leapt at him.

Back in the alleyway, Donnie continued working on the lock, having pried it open and now worked on the wires, connecting two of them that caused a spark and then the lock beeped as the doors were now unlocked.

"Hey, Raph. Welcome back, bro." Mikey said right before Raph launched himself at him, causing the two to fight in a grapple.

"What a hothead." Leo told Alex and Donnie as he crossed his arms.

"You'd think Mikey would learn by now." Alex replied before he, Leo and Donnie looked behind them and saw something that just made their night more interesting, to say the least.

"Guys…." Alex said to Raph and Mikey, the former pinning the latter against a column, as he, Leo and Donnie pulled out their weapons.

"We don't have time for this." Leo added as they backed up to join their brothers.

"And why not?" Raph asked before he and Mikey saw what was wrong: the punks were back, and this time, they had backup.

"Because we're not alone." Mikey told Raph as the two pulled their weapons out.

"Look at the freaks and geek."

"What's with the dweeby costumes?"

"This ain't Halloween."

"You're going down, freaks." Turquoise said as he spun a staff. Nobody messes with the Purple Dragons, especially wearing stupid turtle costumes."

All five brothers readied themselves, pumping up their adrenaline and got their weapons ready before they all leapt at the Purple Dragons with a battle cry.

Within seconds, the Turtles and Alex took all the Purple Dragons down with ease, all of them, except for the leader, being piled on top of each other.

"Let's get out of here!" The leader cried out as he ran away.

"I'm with you!" One of his lackeys agreed and all of them got to their feet and ran for their lives.

"Gimme some green!" Mikey grinned before he and Raph high threed with their hands.

"Well, that was easier than expected." Donnie noted.

"Well, they haven't been trained in ninjutsu their whole lives like us five, now, have they?" Alex replied with a raised eyebrow, twirling his katana.

"I hope there are more of those guys. I'm just getting warmed up." Raph added his thoughts, which weren't all that surprising to his brothers.

As though fate were listening, Mikey noticed a shadow moving that came from whatever was on the rooftop and so he looked and was shocked by what he saw.

"Uh, well, looks like you got your wish, Raphie boy." He said, pointing up at various figures that stood on the rooftop above them, standing out in the moonlight.

"Are those guys ninjas?" Leo questioned, making Alex pay close attention, seeing that they were indeed wearing the kind of stuff a ninja would wear.

"It would seem so." He replied, clenching his hand around his katana, just as the ninjas all leapt into the alley, surrounding the five brothers. They all wore the same black and grey uniforms, which covered their heads and had all yellow eyes. There was also a symbol of a red three toed foot on their chests.

"Well, they're certainly ninja-esque." Mikey added his thoughts.

"Be ready for anything." Leo cautioned his brothers, crossing his katanas.

"I am so gonna enjoy this." Raph grinned with delight.

Donnie pole vaulted over some of the ninjas and landed behind them, spinning his staff to knock two of them off their feet.

He then got up as two more charged at him, one of them wielding a katana. Donnie knocked one off their feet as he blocked the other's katana before knocking him off their feet as well.

Before he could celebrate, the two ninjas got back up on their feet, ready for more.

Three of them surrounded Raph and they tried punching and kicking him, but he was able to dodge their attacks with ease.

"Nice dragon kick. Ah, sweet double phoenix punch. Hey, you know this one?" He said casually before he spin kicked them all in the face, launching them back.

Leo crossed blades with a katana wielding ninja before he made him trip, giving him an opening to strike him on his back. He then back flipped onto a platform above him and watched as a ninja jumped up and ran on the wall towards him, ready to strike with his katana.

Once he could reach Leo, the ninja tried hitting him, but was blocked by one of his katanas. The ninja then jumped off the wall and skidded for a bit until he and a fellow katana wielding ninja attacked Leo at the same time, putting all their weight down on their attacks as Leo blocked them, making him groan and grit his teeth,

Alex was in the middle of clashing with two ninjas, one with a katana, the other with wooden tonfas. He blocked an attack from the katana ninja as he leapt and kicked the tonfa ninja in the arms, making him stumble before Alex swung his katana again, slicing the katana ninja's arm, which caused him to flinch and lose his form, allowing Alex to sweep them off their feet and kick their faces.

Mikey found himself trying to hit a ninja that wielded a tonfa, but it kept blocking his nunchucks. Then another tonfa wielding ninja joined in and the two kept him busy as they kept blocking his attacks.

Two ninja landed in front of Donnie, throwing shurikens at him, which got stuck in his staff, shaking him up a bit. But he didn't have time to act when one of them suddenly jumped at him, kicking him right into the truck.

Then Mikey got launched into the truck next to Donnie.

"Don, are we beating them, or are they beating us?" Mikey asked as he put his nunchucks in his belt.

Donnie freaked out when he saw various ninjas ready to throw shurikens at him and Mikey and so he got into the truck, pulling Mikey in as well, and closing the door in time as the shurikens got thrown, embedded in the door.

"Ask me again when we're winning, Mikey." Donnie replied as he opened the door.

"Yeah. That's what I thought." Mikey replied as he looked at a shuriken that was next to his hand.

Back with Splinter, having managed to destroy one of the robots, two of them were ready to pounce on him.

He maintained focus on both of them and when they pounced, he swung his walking stick and destroyed them instantly.

The fourth and final one leapt at him from his left and cut its head off right away.

Now that they were dealt with, he can now wait for his sons.

But then the ground beneath him started cracking until it all caved in and he started falling down a deep, dark tunnel, screaming as he did so.

Eventually, he made contact with the tunnel and started sliding down the rest of the tunnel until he reached another tunnel through a small hole.

Splinter got to his feet, seeing that he was alright, and wiped some dust off of his kimono.

He then saw a doorway and made his way towards it. Then his eyes widened when he saw what was inside of the brightly lit room in front of him, totally amazed.

Back with his sons, Leo found himself now being held down by five ninjas and struggled until Alex charged in and sliced at the ninjas' legs, making them yell in pain and focus on their new injuries, giving Leo the opening he needed to take them down and free himself.

"Thanks." He said to Alex.

"No, problem, bro." Alex shrugged before they joined up with Mikey and Raph next to the truck, all of them facing the remaining ninjas.

"How many of these goons do we have to bap before they get the hint?" Raph asked in frustration.

"Really. They just keep coming." Mikey agreed.

"It's like they were trained to never give up." Alex panted.

"Time to switch to plan B. Donatello?" Leo asked, the purple clad turtle working to hot wire the truck so that they could escape.

"Almost there, Leo." Donnie replied just before he connected two wires that kickstarter the engine.

"This bus now leaving for anywhere but here!" He then cried out as he closed the driver side door as the ninjas closed in on his brothers.

"Come on, we need to go!" Alex told Raph as he put his katana away.

All four of them entered through the back of the truck and hung on as Donnie drove his way through the ninjas and bumping into the walls until he made it out into the street.

"Whoa! Nice driving job, Don." Mikey commented with sarcasm as the back doors closed. "For a turtle with no licence." A bump caused him to fall off his seat.

"Hey, you want pretty, or you want effective?" Donnie asked back as he crashed into a trash can.

"Both would be nice. The way you drive, you can make anyone car sick." Alex replied as Donnie made a sharp left turn.

"I gotta tell you, this has been one mondo bizarro day. First, all those metal robot things underground. And what's with all those ninjas? Ninjas in New York City? Besides us? It's just not right." Mikey said, summing up just how odd this day has become for them.

"Seems like a ninja clan has established itself in the city." Alex replied just before Donnie made another sharp left turn, making Mikey fall off his seat again.

"Talk about not right." Raph said as he opened up one of the duffle bags that the Purple Dragons put in the truck. "Check this out."

He then dumped out all the money inside the bag, which made Mikey grin.

"Show me the money, baby! Whoo-hoo!" He cheered as he held a few wads of cash.

"This isn't finders keepers, Mikey." Leo sternly told him off as he grabbed one of the wads from Mikey, who looked crestfallen.

"Yeah, in case you forgot, this is stolen money." Alex reminded him.

Nearby, a couple of police officers sat in their car, listening to dispatch, the older of the two drinking some coffee. He then saw the armoured truck pull up next to them.

"Take care of this stolen money, officers!" Alex shouted as he and his brothers threw the bags of money onto the hood of the police car before they took off, surprising the younger of the two officers.

"Did you see that? Some little green men and a kid in an armoured car just threw a bunch of money at us!" He told the older officer, who scoffed.

"Rookies." He muttered, not really believing him.

The brothers turned right into an alleyway that led to a gate which led directly into the sewers and they just rammed right through it, bumping into both walls in the process.

Once they stopped, finally reaching the drainage junction, they found Splinter meditating and they all got out of the truck and surrounded Splinter, talking over each other, so relieved to see their sensei and father alright.

"Yes, well, I'm glad to see you too, my sons." Splinter said, just as relieved to see that they were alright.

"Master Splinter, so much has happened today." Leo told Splinter

"Yes, yes. There will be time to tell me all about it later, Leonardo, but first, I wish to take you all home." Splinter replied, walking over to the large hole, leaving his sons confused.

"Home?" Mikey repeated.

"Uh, Sensei, we no longer have a home." Alex pointed out.

"Yeah, those robots trashed our pad." Raph added, kneeling down and tapping the head of one of the robots Splinter took down from earlier.

"Do not worry. I think I have found a solution to our current housing problem. Follow me, my sons." Splinter replied with a grin before he jumped down into the hole he fell through earlier.

The brothers all looked at each other for a moment before Alex took the first step and slid into the hole.

Next was Leo, who flipped into the hole, followed by Donnie, who simply dived in.

"Cowabun -" Mikey got cut off when Raph shoved him into the hole. "Not funny, Raph!"

"Oh, yes it is." Raph chuckled before he jumped in.

All five of them yelled as they slid down the tunnel until they all crashed into each other in a pile once they caught up with Splinter.

"Wicked slide!" Mikey grinned as they all got up on their feet and followed Splinter towards the doorway.

"No offence, Master Splinter, but this place doesn't seem so great." Mikey then said as he ran up next to Splinter.

"Look with your heart, Michelangelo, and not your eyes." Splinter advised him, making Mikey stop.

"Um, okay." Mikey said, not really understanding what he meant as his brothers joined up with him.

"And walk this way." Splinter then said as he continued onward.

Mikey started tip toeing, which annoyed Donnie to the point that he whacked Mikey's head with his staff.

"Ow!" Mikey moaned in pain.

As they all caught up with Splinter, they were all in awe of what they were seeing: a circular cavernous room that had columns and two levels/floors with open doorways to various rooms.

"This is beyond awesome!" Mikey took the words out of all their mouths.

"I could really tune this place up." Donnie grinned as Alex, Leo and Raph went off to look around.

Alex, in particular, made his way up the second level and found a fairly large room directly above the entrance that they came through and grinned as he could easily fit all of his stuff in here.

"I call dibs on this room right here!" He called out to everyone as Mikey climbed up as well and reached a room that was opposite his.

"This room here, mine!" He called out before he made his way to the room that Donnie was standing outside of. "And where you're standing, also mine."

"You see, my sons, change is good." Splinter then told them all as they finished looking around and stood with him in the centre of the chamber.

"We couldn't agree more, Master Splinter." Leo replied with a grin.

"Good. So let's see you boys clean up for a change. This chamber is filthy." Splinter then told them all, making them all groan in annoyance.

"This is gonna take forever." Alex muttered.

Elsewhere, at the top of a skyscraper in the city, a Japanese man with black hair and brown eyes, wearing white and grey fighting clothes that the same symbol as the ninjas on his shoulders poured some tea into a cup and then took a sip as he glared at the leader of the Purple Dragons, demanding an explanation about what happened.

"Sir? I - I - my men, we - we lost the armoured car with the money. But we were attacked by some sort of karate frog creatures and some kid." Hearing this made the Japanese man narrow his eyes and scrunch up his face. "They took us by surprise. It - it wasn't my fault."

"Enough." The Japanese man snarled.

"I promise, sir, I won't fail you again."

"I know. You won't fail me again, ever." The Japanese man corrected him as he stood.

"No, sir, please!" The leader begged, kneeling before the man as the doors behind him shut.

He then screamed in agony before the Japanese man laughed with pure evil, echoing throughout the whole skyscraper, which had the same symbol displayed throughout, even on the outside.

I can't believe how much fun I had writing this. I love this show so much.

To get an idea for Alex's voice, imagine Dylan O'Brien. I know I keep using him for some of my stories, but he just has a solid voice for the characters I create.
