Ranma, trapped in his feminine form, leaves the Tendo Dojo in search of a "normal" life. After months homeless in Tokyo, Ranma ends up getting a job in a bar run by a found family consisting of the owner & four hard-luck girls. At the Phoenix, she finds a place where she can be accepted and "normal," learns to heal from past trauma and pursues a career as a singer.

273. Note from the Author: Phoenix Odyssey

Here begins Phoenix Odyssey, the third story in the greater Phoenix Saga. Phoenix Odyssey consists of books X-XIII. It is preceded by Phoenix (books I-IV) and Phoenix Ascendant (books V-IX). If you are the type of person who prefers to read complete stories, you can finish Phoenix and Phoenix Ascendant and reach a satisfying conclusion at the end of each. Think of the three stories as three seasons of a television show, each of which reaches a satisfactory conclusion before continuing.

Phoenix Odyssey begins four months after the conclusion of Phoenix Ascendant, in October 1991. Ranko's high school graduation looms large, as does the Dapper Dragons' first international tour. Big changes at the Phoenix push the family to its breaking point and beyond, and Ranko's allies old and new rally around her as she faces the unknown.

I hope you're enjoying the Phoenix Saga; I suppose you must be if you've stuck it out through 271 chapters! Thank you so much, yet again and always, for letting me tell you a story.

Housekeeping note: The Phoenix Odyssey content is double-posted on FFN, here and also in a separate fiction of the same name. This is due to an ill-advised decision on my part to try and break up the Phoenix Saga into its three composite stories, which turned out to be a disaster for keeping readers aware of updates. I've course-corrected by back-porting the content of Odyssey to date to the end of this work, and apologize for the confusion!
