CHAPTER TWO: REPLACEMENT TALKS
I arrived at my place of work in 15 minutes. I smirked at the sight of the parking lot being full of cars. Ever since the place opened back in 2026, there was never a day when the parking lot wasn't filled to the brim with cars. Families continued to visit it every single day. Of course, there were times when it was closed for the holidays. That was the only time the parking lot was empty. Other than that, I couldn't think of a time that it hasn't.
It took me a moment for me to find a parking spot for my truck. It was because a lot of cars took 2 spaces at once. Why people do such stupid shit was beyond me. I pulled into a spot that was a good distance away from the place. It was only like a full minute walk from where I was. I turned off the engine and stepped out of the truck, slamming the door shut behind me.
I aimed my attention at the building that stood a good distance away from me. The large 3-story tall building with the logo of the 4 anthropomorphic animals of a bear, a chicken, an alligator, and a wolf that had big smiles on their faces with words underneath them that read 'Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizzaplex' stood like an ominous beacon in the horizon.
For years, I hated the Pizzaplex for what happened over 10 years ago and I still do. Nothing in the world would ever cure me of the hate that flowed through my veins every time I looked at it. At the same time, this is the place where I met my girlfriend, Roxanne. I couldn't help but smile at that. A lot has happened here since my mother forced me to return to the Mega Pizzaplex back on the 1st of August. Never in a million years did I ever expect things to happen after that.
I sighed as I stared at the large building. I walked over to it, the place growing bigger as I got closer. I looked at the cars that filled the parking lot. Out of all the cars, mine was the only one that was a relic from the past. It didn't bother me. It always gave me a good idea of people's tastes when it came to cars. Some people preferred modern to the latest cars while other people preferred ones from 10 to 20 years ago.
I reached the front doors that led into the building. I sighed as I reached for the handle. I pushed the door and stepped inside.
As it has always done every time I came here, the Lobby filled me with a sense of wonder and amazement. The Lobby itself was huge, fitted with multiple metal gates with the Pizzeplex's logo and a large cutout of the four mascots with a wind-up gift box to the far right, the words 'GET A COMPLIMENTARY ENTRY PASS!' floating above their heads. On the other side of the gates was a gift shop, a large golden statue of the bear, Customer Service, and a flight of stairs that led to different parts of the Pizzaplex, and it smelled like many cooked foods like pizza and many goods. The place itself was crowded, which wasn't surprising due to the number of cars in the parking lot.
I looked around for any signs of Kyle, my boss. He's the man who runs the place and makes sure that everything runs smoothly. He was so good at his job that he could run the place in his sleep if he wanted to. The best part about him was that he wasn't anything like the CEO, a man named Cress Abaddon.
Cress was the man who runs the company, Fazbear Entertainment… and the main reason my father, Harold Patel, committed suicide when I was only 17 years old. My father, who was the police chief at the time, took the company to court where he humiliated my father in front of everyone. Stealing his honor, robbing him of his dignity, turning him into a former shell of his former self. I will never forget finding my father's lifeless body in the living room after coming home from school one day. His death, along with my sister's disappearance still haunts me to this day and is one of the reasons for my hatred for the Pizzaplex.
My sister, Lisa, was another reason for my undying hatred for the Pizzaplex. She was only 12 years old when she went missing and it happened on her birthday. My memory was foggy after that, but from what my mother told me a few months ago, I snuck into the Pizzaplex to find her. Only… I couldn't remember doing that. For some reason, I had no recollection of the events that took place on the night of the security breach. It was one of those mysteries that sometimes kept me up at night.
"Mihael!" called out a voice, snapping me out of my thoughts. I looked just in time to see a man in his early 30s with well-brushed brown hair, tanned skin, and brown eyes wearing a well-dressed suit and tie walking over to me.
"Hey, Kyle," I said as he stopped about a foot from me.
"I was wondering when you would get here," he said. "Overslept?"
"I love my beauty sleep, Kyle," I said with a smirk on my face. It has happened a few times where I would oversleep and arrive at the Pizzaplex when people are already starting to arrive. Kyle doesn't get mad at me over that. We take daps at it whenever we talk about it.
"There is no one out there who doesn't love a good sleep and take that opportunity to sleep in," Kyle said.
"True on that," I said. We laughed for a good moment before we got a hold of ourselves.
"So, how is Roxy?" Kyle asked. "Is she doing okay?"
"She's been doing okay," I replied. "She misses her friends a lot. Showing signs of homesickness. Can't say I blame her. This place has been her home for as long as she can remember and to leave her friends like that, it can take a toll on the mind and spirit. But, she always gets super happy and excited when she comes here and spends time with her friends. Seeing her happy makes me happy."
Kyle nodded. This was something Kyle constantly asked me about when I came in. Ever since Roxanne and I got together, Kyle made it his job to make sure she was okay, happy, and safe, especially after Montgomery threatened to do something to me if I did something to upset or hurt her. I wasn't scared by the threat. I knew that was him just looking out for her.
"Well, when you see her when you get home, let her know that we will be having game night tomorrow night. I know she will be very happy to hear that."
I nodded. That was something that always made Roxanne very happy. The news of game night never fails to bring a spring in her step. I knew very well it wasn't the games that made her happy. It was the chance of seeing her friends after being away from them for a certain amount of time. If I was in her shoes, I would be feeling the exact same way.
"Don't worry, I will tell Roxanne about it," I said. Kyle nodded before he looked around and moved his lips close to my left ear. I moved it close so I could hear what he had to say.
"There's something I want to talk to you about in Lost and Found," Kyle whispered loud enough for only me to hear.
"Okay," I said. With that, he moved his mouth away from my ear and walked over to the door that led into Lost and Found. I followed after him, moving past people to get to him.
He opened the door and motioned for me to head inside. I walked inside. Kyle closed the door behind me. Lost and Found wasn't the cleanest room in the Pizzaplex. It was a small room with a desk that held a ton of TV screens, metal shelves filled with toys, and many other personal belongings. There were many shelves filled with boxes and other goods.
We walked to the center of the room and Kyle looked at me with a slightly serious expression on his face. Whatever it was that he wanted to talk to me about, it was serious.
"So, what did you want to tell me?" I asked though I had a good feeling about what that could be.
"It's about Roxy's replacement," Kyle said. "We just finished with the finishing touches 2 nights ago. It will be ready to be revealed to the public by tomorrow morning."
I nodded. That was something that was agreed upon back when I was in the hospital after my fight with William Afton. Due to me having permanent legal custody of Roxanne Wolf, one of the conditions I laid out for Cress was to find a replacement for Roxanne since he planned to get rid of her and use her parts and whatnot. For the past few months, they had been working on a replacement for her. It was surprising to have them take that long to have one ready. I guess it takes time to do that.
"I see," I said. "Good to know that it's ready. About time that they got it done."
"Not only that, I want you to bring Roxy with you to see it," Kyle added. That caught me by surprise.
"What? Why, Kyle?" I asked, curiosity bubbling up inside me like a balloon. Kyle smiled in response to that.
"Her replacement is someone very special to her," Kyle replied. "I think she will be mighty happy to see them after so long."
I stared at him, blinking a couple of times as the words sunk in. Someone very special to her? I thought about who it could be when it suddenly clicked in my head. It took everything I had within me to not show the surprise on my face.
A few months ago back at the meadow, Roxanne told me about someone named Glamrock Mangle, the animatronic that I saw prior to Roxanne moving out of the Pizzaplex. According to her, Mangle was someone she was very close with. Someone who she regarded as a sister. That someone that was taken away from her because their own attraction, Kid's Cove, was losing money and people were losing interest in them. Seeing them as boring.
I couldn't help but wonder if that was Roxanne's replacement. If so, that would explain why Kyle wanted me to bring Roxanne with me tomorrow to see the new animatronic. There was no other reason for that. A small hint of excitement washed over me as I had never met Glamrock Mangle in person. And Kyle was right about one thing. My girlfriend will be mighty happy to see her.
"Can you do that?" Kyle asked, his voice snapping me out of my thoughts. I gave him a warm smile.
"Sure, I will do just that," I said. Kyle smiled and gave me a nod of acknowledgment.
"Good, now, let's get out of here," he said. "You have a long day ahead of you."
I nodded. With that, we walked out of Lost and Found, closing the door behind us.
The day went by without anything bad or life-threatening happening to any of the guests. Of course, you will have your run-in with the self-entitled psychopaths, which is what I ended up dealing with. I had to throw a few of them out of the building because some of them were starting to get physical. Hell, I almost got into a fight with one of them, but Kyle was able to defuse the situation before he asked me to kick them out, which I gladly did.
To be honest, I have no idea what possessed people to do things like that. It's very surprising that people think it's okay to act like a 2-year-old throwing a temper tantrum over not getting their favorite candy or things not going their way. I was aware that some of the worst of them get away with it without getting any form of punishment, but I knew very well that while we can't enact our acts of justice, karma has our backs and will enact its twisted sense of humor when it has to. That is something so many people will pay good money to see with their own two eyes.
Other than those unfortunate series of events that plague us every day, the day was relatively okay. I did my best to remain positive, though the idea of having to deal with more dampened my day a tiny bit. Luckily, after throwing the guy out for almost causing a fight with me, none of those psychopaths came in and caused trouble to happen again. That alone was a blessing in disguise.
It was now 7:45 PM. Families were now beginning to leave. While the Pizzaplex itself didn't close until 12:00 AM when the security doors came down to block access to the place, the place was closed off to the public at 8 PM. A little weird, but it was company rules after all. Kyle left 20 minutes ago so I was alone.
I watched as the last of the guests began to leave. I sighed out of relief that the day was finally over. The idea of coming home and relaxing with Roxanne sounded like a gift from the heavens. A reward given to me after a busy and rough day.
"That was the last," I said to myself.
"Good job today, Mihael!" I heard a familiar call out. I looked to see a white chicken coming my way. Glamrock Chica.
Glamrock Chica, or simply Chica, was the band's guitarist. She was the most happy when Roxanne and I told her about me and her being a couple. Out of all of them, she was the energetic one. She also had a huge love for pizza, something I'd seen multiple times. I had to stop her from eating the pizza made for the guests countless times. It was both annoying and funny at the same time.
"Thanks, Chica," I said as she stopped about a foot from me. "How have you been?"
"Pretty good," Chica replied with a smile. "I can't wait for game night tomorrow."
"I bet," I said, knowing full well that the chicken was excited to see Roxanne. The two of them were best friends, probably having the closest relationship with each other than anyone else.
"How's Roxy?" Chica asked.
"She's doing good," I replied. "She misses you guys a lot. She will be very happy to see you guys in the morning. Kyle told me to bring her with me."
Chica stared at me for a moment, her eyes widened to the size of dinner plates. It was long before a huge smile formed on her face. I embraced myself for what was going to happen.
"YEESSSSS!" Chica shouted in joy. "Tomorrow is going to be the greatest!"
"It certainly will be," I said in full agreement. "Tomorrow is going to be a lot of fun for all of us."
To be honest, I always look forward to game night with my friends. It was one of those times I could enjoy myself without anything bad happening. Other than that one time when William was taking control of Roxanne Wolf, nothing bad has happened since.
As I thought about that incident, I did my best to keep myself calm. William Afton has plagued my thoughts since Roxanne told me about his escape. I knew full well that it was only a matter of time before he made his appearance again. I had been trying to keep myself ready for when that came. The last thing I needed was for him to get the jump on all of us.
Chica chuckled for a moment before a thoughtful expression formed on her face. Curiosity washed over me at the sight. I wondered what was going on in the chicken's head.
"Hey, Mihael, can I ask you something very important?" Chica asked softly. I found myself smiling at the question. Whatever it was, I was going to hear her out.
"Sure, ask away," I said. Chica hesitated for a moment, a look of embarrassment forming on her face. Now, that caught my attention. I had a feeling something big was going on.
"Well…" Chica hesitated for a brief moment. "Since you and Roxy are a thing, do you think it's possible for me to be with someone I love?"
I smirked at the question as it slowly clicked in my head. This was something I had a feeling was going to happen. I didn't expect it to take months for the question to pop up. It was amusing and understandable at the same time for Chica to be asking me this right now.
Amusing that she would be asking me for advice such as this.
Understandable as my romantic relationship with Roxanne Wolf was a clear indicator that a relationship like that could exist.
What also made this amusing was that I knew secretly that Chica liked someone. It was clear as day. She showed the signs of someone having a crush on someone. I would often catch her daydreaming a lot when she was supposed to be entertaining the guests. She would get distracted when she was doing something. I have kept it a secret from her since.
"I think so," I replied. "Why? Do you like someone?"
Chica squawked in surprise, her eyes widening to the size of beach balls.
"What?! N-no!" she exclaimed, her hands in the air. "I was curious if it was possible! Why do you say that?!"
I didn't believe it one bit. Her reaction was all I needed to know that she did like someone. I had a feeling about who it was. That day at the dance floor, Montgomery and Chica were dancing like a couple. I had a feeling it was Montgomery Gator since then.
"I'm just asking," I said with a smirk on my face. I looked her in the eyes. "After what I saw at Fazcade 3 months ago, I think it's a little obvious who you like. You and Montgomery Gator were dancing exactly how Roxanne and I did before we left."
Chica stared at me with wide eyes before she covered her face with her hands. That was all the proof I needed. I was secretly happy for her. She was a sweetheart and anyone would be lucky to have a girl like her.
"There's no need to be embarrassed, Chica," I said reassuringly. "I won't say anything to him. If you are asking me to help you get together with him, I will help you with that. There's nothing wrong with asking for help with some dating advice. Who knows? Montgomery might be feeling the same way for you."
Chica uncovered her face and looked me in the eyes. She had a very surprised expression on her face. I couldn't help but get the feeling that she was expecting me to tease her over her romantic interest in Montgomery like most would. I wasn't like that.
"You… will?" she asked.
"Of course," I said. Chica smiled and proceeded to give me a hug. I hugged her back.
"Thanks," she said.
"No problem," I said before we broke the embrace. "Well, I better head home. Roxanne and my mother are waiting for my return."
"See you tomorrow, Mihael," she said.
"See you guys tomorrow," I said. With that, I walked out of the Lobby and out of the Pizzaplex to begin the journey back home.
I pulled into the driveway of the family house. I sighed softly as the long, rough day finally caught up to me, a wave of exhaustion washing over me like water over sand. I turned off the engine and stepped out of my truck, slamming the door shut behind me. I walked over to the front door where Roxanne would undoubtedly be waiting for me.
Ever since we got together, Roxanne made it a habit to wait for me to come home by standing in front of the front door when the time I got home would be getting close. From what she told me when she did it the first time, she 'wanted to be with her boyfriend as soon as possible'. To say I was touched would be an understatement. After living alone for the last couple of years, I was used to the empty solitude, but after getting together with Roxanne, I had something to look forward to every day.
I approached the front door and took out a key. My mother was the kind of person to have the front door locked, even when there was someone home. We lived in a relatively safe neighborhood, but you can never be too careful. I unlocked the door and stepped inside, closing the door behind me. As soon as I looked in front, I was assaulted by a hug.
"Welcome home, big shot," Roxanne said happily and lovingly. I smirked and hugged her back.
"Thanks, Roxanne," I said. We stayed like that for a while before we finally broke the embrace. "How was your day?"
Roxanne shrugged. "The usual. How was yours?"
"Long and rough," I said as we walked over to the couch and sat down. "I had to deal with them self-entitled psychopaths and had to kick them out because they were starting to get physical with me. Hell, I almost got into a fight with one of them because of that."
"You didn't knock their teeth out over that, did you?" I heard my mother call out from the kitchen, no doubt making dinner for her and I. I mentally rolled my eyes at the question, but I understood.
My mother knew I was the kind of person to beat someone if they got physical with me. Unfortunately, I did beat some of them up due to them getting so crazy that trying to reason with them, along with the fact they got physical, almost hurting an innocent in the process wasn't possible in the slightest. It still baffles me when things like that happen. It was like they weren't raised by the right people in their lives or just didn't care and felt entitled to act like that.
"No," I called out. "Kyle was able to defuse the situation before he asked me to kick them out. It came very close to that happening, though."
"Good to know," my mother replied. Roxanne and I chuckled for a moment before I remembered something important.
"Speaking of work, there's something I want to talk to you about during dinner, Roxanne," I said. That caught her attention.
"Is it something important?" she asked.
"It is," I said. I aimed my full attention at the dining room. "Speaking of which, Mom, is dinner ready?"
"Yes, it is," my mother replied. "You came just in time too. Come into the kitchen and make your serving."
Roxanne and I looked at each other and nodded. Since I came home late, my mother would make dinner when it was close to when I would come home. The reason for that was because she wanted to eat as a family. It was nice to come home from a long day at work and have a nice cooked meal already made. A nice change of pace.
Roxanne and I got up from the couch and made our way over to the kitchen to get my serving of what my mother had cooked up for dinner tonight.
Roxanne, my mother, and I sat at our respective spots at the table with my mother and I eating our meals. Tonight, my mother made beef stew, which was one of my favorite meals. Roxanne just sat there and watched us eat. I couldn't help but get the feeling that she was jealous that she couldn't eat while we could. If I was in her shoes, I would be feeling the same way if that was the case.
"So, what was it that you wanted to tell me, Mihael?" Roxanne asked suddenly. I swallowed my bite and looked her in the eyes.
"Kyle wanted me to inform you that we will be having game night tomorrow night and to bring you with me in the morning," I replied. Roxanne stared at me for a moment before it seemed to click in her head.
A big smile formed on her face as she clamped her hands together in front of her face. I smiled at that. I knew that Roxanne would be very happy about that. On top of that, the idea of seeing the kids was another thing Roxanne looked forward to. She was a child entertainer after all.
"Is that all?" my mother asked. I turned my attention to her.
"No," I replied. "He wanted me to bring Roxanne in the morning for not only game night, but to also see the replacement. I was told it was finished and he wanted her to see it. Said something about them being very special to her. Plus, they plan on revealing them to the public tomorrow morning."
My mother looked at me with a thoughtful expression on her face. I had a feeling she was thinking about what I just said or maybe it was something different entirely. I turned my attention to Roxanne, who was now looking at me with a curious expression on her face. No doubt over what I just said to my mother.
"Did Kyle tell you who it was?" Roxanne asked.
"No," I replied. "All he said to me was that your replacement was someone very close to you. I have a good idea of who it is, but I don't want to jump to conclusions until we see it tomorrow. He mentioned that they had just put the finishing touches to it 2 nights ago."
"That's interesting," my mother added. "I do wonder who it might be for Kyle to claim them as such."
"I do too," Roxanne added. "I mean I am pretty close to my friends and Mihael. I can't help but wonder who it might be. I don't want to get my hopes up for nothing."
I didn't say anything. In truth, I had a feeling it was Glamrock Mangle, but for all I knew, it could be Glamrock Foxy, but Roxanne hadn't mentioned anything about how close she was with Foxy. Maybe she saw him as a brother or something. That was something I would have to ask her about when I got the chance. She broke down when she was telling me about Mangle back in the meadow. That was the last thing we needed while eating dinner. While I did assume that to be the case, it would be better safe than sorry to think it might be something else.
"That would be for the best," I finally said. "Getting your hopes up like that would be like cutting the wrong wire on a bomb. It may not be someone special. It could be a new animatronic."
"I doubt that," Roxanne said. "Kyle isn't the type to make claims like that if that wasn't the case. It would be out-of-character for him to do that. There would be no point in doing so."
I thought about it for a moment before trusting her words. Roxanne was right about that. Kyle wouldn't do that. He knew that Roxanne was close with Glamrock Mangle and Foxy, but was much closer with Mangle to be exact. In fact, I didn't see him as the type to do such a thing.
To top it off, Roxanne knew Kyle better than I did. I've known him for only a few months while she has known him for over 12 years. That alone made what she said believable. She wouldn't lie about him like that. She held him in high regard.
However, I had to remember that he didn't tell me the truth about what Cress said to him on the phone before coming up with the three conditions he made up. Not only that, he refused to tell me about it as well. It wouldn't be until I was in the hospital did I find out why he acted the way he did. I would later understand that he did that to protect her.
"Good point," I said as I took a bite and swallowed shortly after. "The best thing to do is see what it is when we come in first thing in the morning."
"I agree," my mother added. "I've known Kyle for quite some time. I trust him completely."
I nodded. That was true. Kyle had worked with my father to help find the missing kids, but they were never successful. My mother got to know him through my father so they had a bit of a history with each other. I wouldn't know that until she laid out the truth to me several months ago.
"That I know," I said. After saying what had to be said, I figured a change was much needed. "Now that is out of the way, how was your day?"
They smiled at me.
"It was good, Mihael," Roxanne said. "I helped your mother with straightening out the house for a few hours, mainly the things I can do without doing any damage to myself."
"We also went out and did some errands," my mother added. "We had a few… run-ins with troublemakers, but other than that, everything went well."
I nodded, understanding fully on what she meant by 'run-ins with troublemakers'. Ever since Roxanne and I got together, there were a few people who didn't take kindly to that when they found out. They were people who thought it was wrong for such a relationship with a sentient mascot and a human, something I knew would happen months before this happened.
Hell, I even bumped into some of those very people when I was with Roxanne on a number of occasions. Of course, when they found out I was Harold's son, they started saying some nasty shit that was very uncalled for. Some of them went as far as to say that my father 'would be disappointed in having a son like me'. Unfortunately, it soon escalated to harassment and getting physical. I had to beat up some of them for how they were getting.
It got so bad that after 2 months of dealing with the harassment and 2 months after Roxanne and I got together, my mother ended up calling Leon Wesley, a former partner of my father and the current police chief. He had a few police officers act as bodyguards and warned them of the consequences if they continued. After 2 weeks, people finally backed down, though they would still give us very disgusted looks when they got the chance.
"Did they do anything?" I asked. I was always curious if they did anything that would land them in the hospital if I ever bumped into them.
Roxanne shrugged. "The usual. Nothing new."
I nodded. Despite the shrug, I knew Roxanne was deeply affected by the things people said about the relationship. Out of all the main mascots, Roxanne was the most insecure due to the trauma she went through with previous security guards at the Pizzaplex before I came and took the job. For years, they tore down at her self-esteem and turned her into a shell of her former self. However, once she met me, her life changed and she has slowly become happier and much healthier.
"Of course," I said simply. None of us said anything for the rest of dinner. The peace and quiet was all that was needed now that everything we wanted to talk about was all said and done.
As I ate, I wondered if Roxanne's replacement was indeed Glamrock Mangle. If so, why did it take almost 5 months to get it ready? I couldn't help but wonder if something was going on. Something very big that was probably planned for me and Roxanne. I could only hope that it wasn't anything too crazy. However, after all that has happened to us, I really shouldn't be surprised if something like that was done in the shadows. Whatever the case, I had to be ready for it.
