Chapter 4- Butterly Effect

~Gaul~

"…Cynder, Ember!" Gaul screamed out, raising his scepter to the vison stone, "I just received word from a scout at the dragon temple through a message crystal. It seems we have a new arrival after all, just as our entourage predicted."

He caressed the gem showing the image of the odd creature. Ape like, but also not ape-like. Weak, but also possibly stronger than he could imagine.

From withing the rocky corridors, Cynder's voice resounded, "Hmm… What do you make of this creature, sister?"

"He seems quite weak for now, but it would be best to err on the side of caution," Ember's crimson form slinked out from behind a shadow, her dark yellow wings caressing Gaul's head and her dark cream underbelly expanding and contracting slowly, "Potential, aptitude and talent are all completely different beasts from one another."

Cynder swooped down before Gaul, her eyes narrowing in inquisition, "What do you think of the situation? That being in the black cloak said we would need two dragons, not just one. He also predicted this creature would arrive, and here it is."

"Hmm…," Gaul scratched his chin, pondering the situation for a moment, "Perhaps we should send a scout to follow them to See how they fare at Dante's Freezer."

"It seems to be a sound plan," Cynder looked to the apes in the room, singling out a single Ape garbed head to toe in black cloth, "Him. Creep Shadow-Walker. Have him use an invisibility crystal to avoid detection, and make sure he stays off the snow! Even so much as a footprint could sabotage this mission."

Creep approached Cyder, bowing before her, "It would be an honor so serve you for this mission. Thank you, mistress."

"If you fail, you know what will happen to your blood," Ember spoke up, licking her lips, "My abilities may not be as powerful as Cynder's, but they are far more versatile and deadly if… creatively used."

At this, Creep shuddered, bowing multiple times in terror, "Y-Yes, mistress Ember. I will not fail you."

"You can be so sadistic at times, sister…," Cynder cackled as she patted Ember on the back, "Do you think he's going to fail?"

The only answer Ember gave was a twisted smirk.

Despite being under Cynder's service, it was Ember who Gaul feared. Being second-in-command to the former was a blessing. No one lasted long under Ember, especially the second-in-command.

"I am uncertain whether this mission will fail or not," Gaul gave a bow towards Cynder, "But I will make preparations for as many possible outcomes as I can."

Giving a nod to him, Cynder slinked back into the caverns, leaving only Ember before him.

"You would to well to plan ahead for everything, Gaul," Ember whispered in his ear, "If you were under my command, even a single misstep would result in your body looking like a lifeless mummy."

"Y-yes, mistress Ember. I am aware." With this, Gaul took his leave, heading towards the tactics room.
