An intervention, of sorts

"Kanda, wait up!"

Kanda turned to see a very determined Golden Trio marching towards him. Harry plastered a fake smile.

"Want to eat in the Courtyard together?" he asked 'sweetly'.

"You'll bother Sev if I say no, won't you" he knew where this was going.

"Yup" Ron grinned, knowing they had the man cornered.

"Dammit"

Kanda grumbled as Harry, Ron, and Hermione coerced him into eating smuggled sandwiches on the grass.

"Sirius told me about the Faery books," Harry admitted once they were alone.

"Tattler"

"Kanda, this is serious. I've researched them and Faery Folk are dangerous." Hermione emphasised and Kanda sighed. Did he always have this many people concerned for his well being? Maybe he should have stayed an asshole.

"We know you love Lena mate, we're pretty fond of her too. But this is dark stuff. And approaching it on no sleep is gonna be useless" Ron added. Hermione nodded.

"What are you trying to find? We want to help"

Kanda looked over at Harry's determined expression and struggled within himself. He knew that Harry would try and intervene, but he also didn't want to lie. A half truth?

"It's not just Lenalee's visions. That's where my main focus is but"

"Are they blocking her to reach you?"

He forgot that Hermione was a wiz kid.

"Um"

"They are, aren't they." Ron realised. Hermione's eyes widened.

"Kanda, it's dangerous!"

"Incredibly dangerous"

All four jumped at the sound of Snape's voice. He was holding Kanda's notes. Kanda jumped up from the grass.

"Hey! They were private!" It was a weak argument - he'd been so tired last night that he'd left them on display.

"Mugen brought me to them."

Mugen?

"He's scared. And when I read what you'd written, for good reason. Kanda? Fae bargains? Do you understand how dangerous they are?"

"Bargains?!"

Kanda heard Hermione's cry but ignored her. He couldn't be stopped now - Trelawney had said it was something that needed to be done. But he couldn't say that here.

"It… was an avenue that I was researching, yes." Half truths again. It left a bitter taste in his mouth.

"Why? What did you think you would get out of it?"

Kanda was impressed with Snape's ability to somehow shout at him without raising his voice. Must be a teacher thing.

"I just thought that I could help Lena. If I intervened" he made sure that he looked sad and desperate, "I thought if I made some sort of bargain, they would leave her alone or say what they wanted or what they were blocking. Anything" Half right, he supposed. He did want to know what they wanted.

Snape's expression softened.

"These bargains, they won't be what helps Lenalee. Fae don't give up their secrets. Especially not to us normal folk"

Severus, if you knew how far away from normal I really am.

"I'm sorry for not saying anything. I really thought that if I found some loophole but I" ran out of time

Snape sighed.

"Tonight we need to concentrate on Allen. Though these blockades are a worry, they are not the immediate concern. Okay?"

Kanda nodded and he could see the trio nodding their own agreement.

"Now come on, speaking of tonight, help me deliver these potions"

Kanda followed him and waved goodbye to the trio. His mouth tasted like ash.
