The Annoying Shark

September 8, 11:43 AM, District Court, Defendant Lobby No. 1

J was back in the lobby with V who confronted her about her odd behaviour. Now that there was a moment of rest J told V about her memory loss.

"A-Amnesia?!" V said in shock and looks down said "I can't believe my lawyer's trying to defend me in such a state…"

"…I…Uh…" J said unsure what to say.

"Why didn't you tell me, ma'am?!" V lets out.

"I'm sorry I didn't mention it to you." J said to V.

Oh! I know what to do!" V said smiling getting an idea "I heard you can fix something like this with a really strong shock to your system! Come on, lower you head a little! A V-Kick should be all you need!"

"Ah, no, no, no. I think I'll pass on this one." J said to that.

"Come on!" V said then looks down sadly and said "I-I'm sorry. Whenever I see someone in trouble, I have a hard time leaving them alone…I tend to stick my nose where it doesn't belong and try to tackle everyone's problems."

'Well, my head's one problem you won't be tackling today…' J thinks firmly and then said "Well, we're here to solve your problem first. We can deal with mine later. For now, do you think you can fill me in on a few things?"

V salutes and smiles saying "Of course! I'd be honored to! Ah, well, I guess we'll start with my name and then I can tell you about me!"

"No, no, that's okay. Really. I think I know you and your name pretty well by now." J told her. "I was wondering if you could help me figure out a few things about myself. So, my name is 'Serial Designation J'? No offense since it's like yours but what a weird name."

"Hmmmm…This is serious. You really don't remember." V said sadly. She then hands over a business card and said "I'll tell you what, ma'am. You can have this back, and maybe it'll help!"

"This is…a business card?" J said talking it and looking at that card.

"I got this from you." V said starry eyed "It's my most prized possession! You can borrow it for now, but please give it back, okay?!"

"Okay." J said and examined the card 'There are some numbers written on the back…'

"Oh, that's your cell phone number!" V told her as J's Business Card is added to the Court Record.

"I guess for now, we should stop talking about me and start talking about this case." J said thinking.

"This case…?" V asked.

"Yup. Can you think of anything would be helpful for me to know?" J asked her.

"Um, what can I tell you…? Ah, um…Hmm…" V said and thinks. "I can't think of anything other than the incident with that cell phone, but…"

"…Cell phone?" J asked confused.

"Yeah! Your eyes lit up when we talked about it at the Detention Center, sir!" V said with a smile.

J eyes open and said "Hurry up then and tell me! This might be very important!"

"Okay! Roger!" V said saluting. She then explains "It was on the day of the crime, just before 6 PM…I picked up a lost cell phone while on a walk with Taka.

We flashback and see V and Taka walking when the found phone begins ringing with that same creepy ringtone we heard at the start. "All of a sudden, the phone began to ring…" Present V said

Past V answers the phone "Um, hello?"

"Oh, thank you! I've been searching for my phone." A male voice said on the other end.

"Is this yours? Oh, I'm glad you called! We can meet up and I can give this back!" Past V said with a smile.

"I'll be right there, um…I'm sorry, I didn't catch your name…" The man said.

"I'm Serial Designation V but you can call me V!" Past V said to him on the phone.

We return the present as V tells J "We agreed to meet up at 6 PM. Taka and I waited for the person to show up…but they never did."

"Hmmmm…." J thinks on it. "So where is the phone you found now?"

"I gave it to you yesterday!" V told her.

"Huh? To me?" J said surprised and thinks 'Is it that phone in my pocket…?' She pulls out the phone and asked "Y-You mean this?"

"Do you think it has anything to do with the murder?" V asked her.

"I…don't really know…But if my eyes 'lit up'…" J said thinking

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH! YOU WERE HERE ALL ALONG!" A voice loudly called out making everyone with the Police Trooper guards jump. In walks in a brown haired teen with a black armored gauntlet and in a red jacket who glares at J "You're so rude! I called you a million times but you wouldn't pick up! And when I went to check in the courtroom, everyone had already left…"

'Ack! Now who in the dental plan is this?' J thinks in shock at the lad rubbing her head 'Let me guess, I'm supposed to know this boy, too…'

"Hey, good morning, V" The boy said with a smile.

V salutes and smile saying "And a good morning to you, too, Jaden!" Indeed it was Jaden Yuki, back again through J obviously has no recollection.

"So?! So?! How's it going?!" Jaden asked with a smile.

"Is there a word for 'worse than abysmal'…?" V asked sadly.

"Oh? And what if I said everything will be fine?" Jaden asked with a grin. "That's right! It's Jaden to the rescue with the ultra-decisive super-important evidence!" He has a document to J "Here you are, J! The thing you wanted me to bring!"

"Huh? Oh, ah, thanks…" J said taking it and looks at it 'What the heck is this? A list? It has about 20 people's names and phone numbers written on it.'

"It was kind of tough, but I managed to dig up some dirt!" Jaden explained "It looks like these guys are up to no good."

"'No good'? As in?" J asked him.

"There's a group of con artists the police troopers are currently investigating." Jaden explained. "I think these guys are members of that group." The Names List was added to the Court Record.

"Why would a group of con artists pop up in a case like this?" J asked thinking.

"Don't look at me!" Jaden told her.

"Hmmm…And where did you get this list from in the first place?" J asked him.

"Whaaaaat?! Don't you remember J?!" Jaden asked shocked. "You're the one who asked me to look this up yesterday!"

"Oh…is that right?" J said to that.

"These numbers were in the memory of that phone V found." Jaden explained.

"Hmmm, so that's where they're from." J said to that.

"You're awfully forgetful these days, J." Jaden told the drone. "I hope I never get to be a forgetful old prune like you are kind of."

"Um, Jaden…Actually, Miss. J is…" V said about to tell him about the amnesia.

"Miss J! Recess is now over." The Bailiff Purge Trooper called out into the room. "Please bring the defendant and return to the courtroom immediately!"

"Oh, oops! Guess you have to get going! We can talk about you being old later, J!" Jaden said with a smile.

"W-Wish us luck!" V said with a nod.

'I guess I have all the pieces now…More or less.' J thinks on it 'All that's left is to put it all together. I'm not going to lose this. I can't!"

"Come on, J. Better get a move on!" Jaden told her.

"Y-Yeah." J said nodding and goes to the courtroom.

September 8, 11:54 AM, District Court, Courtroom No. 2

Everyone returned to the courtroom and back to the spots only exception is that Jaden has taken V's spot next to J. Maccadam bangs his gavel to quiet down the audience and said "Court will now reconvene. Please call your next witness to the stand, Mr. Blitz."

"Yes, Your Honor." Bltizo said nodding "But before I do, if I may say a few words…"

"What is it, Mr. Bltiz?" Maccadam asked.

"It's about the next witness." Bltizo said and explained sweat dropping "He has a tendency to say things that rub people the wrong way, you see, so I ask that the court might be a little lenient on…"

"There is no need to give preface. Just hurry up and call your witness, please." Maccadam said shaking his head.

"Y-Yes, Your Honor." Bltizo said and said "…The prosectution calls its next witness: a drifter who was taking a walk in the park on the day of the murder!"

Soon the witness takes the stand, it was the shark demon seen in the progloue who whacked J on the head. Of course, no one not even J knows of that.

"Please state your name for the court, witness." Blitzo said to the shark demon.

"Before I do, I'd like to clarify a little something." The shark demon said arrogantly.

"Huh? Oh, sure, go ahead." Btlizo said shrugging.

"Just now, you introduced my wonderful self to the court, correct?" The shark demon asked smirking. "Perhaps as a 'drifter who was taking a walk'?"

"D-Did I?" Bltizo asked.

"But I will not stand for that! Now you've tinted that court's eyes and coloured me wrongly." The Shark Demon said he then goes on a long tangent on wrong that was.

"Yes, yes, I understand. I'm very sorry. I will be more careful from now on. Geez!" Bltizo said sweat dropping.

"Wh-What is he? A shark chatterbox?" Jaden said deadpanned.

"Ugh…I have a question HIM?" J said face screening.

"Fashion! Cars! Women! Glasses! And of course, University! First-rates only need apply!" The Shark Demon boasted as he introduced himself.

'Glasses…? But you aren't wearing glasses…' J thinks sweatdropping.

Maccadam bangs his gavel down and glares at the witness and said "That's enough! Your name, witness."

"Oh? Is that how you want to play this?" The shark demon said smirking "Using your power and influence to keep the young people down. I see how you work now. You old people and your dirty tricks. You thought you had me, but you thought wrong."

"I-I'm sorry. It won't happen again." Maccadam said nervous.

'Oh man…' J thinks sweating.

"I forgive you. Alright, I suppose I can tell you my name." The Shark Demon said "I am Chaz Thurman, the 'Drifting Virtuoso' with a PH.D in Drifting, as it were. If you wanted to, you could call me a 'University Student in Transit.'"

"Ahem, Mr. Thurman." Bltizo said to him. "On the day of the murder, you were taking a…er, strolling through the park, correct?"

"It would appear that you are attacked to that word. If you must, then by all means." Chaz told the Imp. "But I remind you that I am in now way a prepubescent sharkling, 'out on a walk' with mommy. If you must…"

"Anyway!" Blitzo said stopping him "Please testify to this court what you saw during your walk through the park!"

"See, you said it again! 'Taking a walk'…You know you…" Chaz said about t get into it again.

Maccadam bangs his gavel and said firmly "What you witnessed with do, Mr. Thurman!"

J sighs at this, it will be a long cross examination with this annoying shark.

Well Chaz is certainly annoying, next part will be the final part for Episode 1, look forward to it.
