"Hey," Chandler said as they were in Monica's bed. She was lying on his chest and his arms were wrapped around her.
"Yeah?" Monica asked.
"Do you think we should tell the guys about us?"
Monica turned her head, surprised. "Really?"
"Yeah, it's been like three months."
Monica turned back. "I don't know. They'll be up in our business, asking questions, trying to give advice," she said.
"Are you ashamed of me? Do you think that they'll say I'm not good enough for you?" He asked in a small voice.
Monica turned fully now, sitting beside Chandler. She put her hand on his cheek.
"No, of course not. They won't say that and I don't care what they'll say."
She put her forehead on his and closed her eyes. He closed his as well.
"I've never been happier than I've been in the last three months," she whispered against his lips.
"Really?" He asked.
"Yes."
"I feel the same," he said, and he wrapped his arms around her. Monica leant in to kiss him.
"Wait," Chandler said as he pushed her gently away. Monica looked at him worriedly.
"I want to be able to hold your hand in public, to sit on the couch in Central Perk with my arm around your back, to spend all the night with you and not sneak over into your room at 2:00am and sneak out of it at 6:00am. I…" he looked down. He took a breath and then looked up and into her eyes. "I love you," he whispered.
He was in love with her for a while now, but he was too afraid to tell her. But if they were going to tell their friends about them, they might ask them the big question, "Did you tell each other 'I love you' already?" He didn't want it to come out for the first time like that, and he wanted Monica to know that his intentions about her were serious. That this wasn't just goofing around.
"I love you too," she said.
Chandler tightened his grip around her, and Monica moved to kiss him again. This time, he didn't move away. Monica pressed her lips to his and he leaned into the kiss hard, wanting to show her how much he loved her. He opened his mouth and sucked her bottom lip. Monica moved her hand to the back of his neck and gripped his hair. He moved his tongue into her mouth, groaning as she deepened the kiss and met his tongue with hers.
After a while, they broke apart to catch their breath.
"Alright. We can tell them," Monica said. She smiled at him.
"Really?
"Yeah. We'll deal with the reactions. As long as we've each other, we'll be okay."
Chandler laid his head on her shoulder, his face in her neck.
They thought for a while about what to say. Joey already knew, and he received it well, but telling the rest was scary. Not only were they together, but they also lied to them for about three months and they didn't know how the guys would react.
Eventually, they decided to tell them the next night. They asked everyone to be at Rachel and Monica's then.
"So, there's something we want to tell you," Chandler said.
"What?" Phoebe asked.
A silence stretched and Chandler looked at Monica. She smiled at him and it gave him courage.
"Monica and I are together," he said.
"What?" Ross asked, his eyes widening.
"Yeah, okay," Phoebe said, rolling her eyes.
Monica took Chandler's hand in hers. "Really," she said.
"You're together? How long have you been together?" Rachel asked.
"Since London," Chandler said.
"What? Since London?" Ross yelped.
"You've been together since London and you didn't tell us? Why?" Rachel asked.
"Because at first it was new and we didn't know what it was, and we didn't want to tell anyone before we figured it out ourselves," Chandler said. "And we're both so bad at relationships," he pouted, "and things were going so well that we didn't want anything to ruin it. Plus, we know how it was when Ross and Rachel were together. You remember guys, right? It wasn't easy being under the microscope of the group, right?"
Ross and Rachel looked to the floor. Rachel nodded.
"Still, I just can't believe you're together. I mean, it's you two. It's weird," Rachel said.
"No, actually it's not." Joey said. "I mean I was shocked when I found out, but…"
"You told Joey before you told me?" Ross cut Joey off.
"He figured it out after we came back from a weekend away. He put two and two together," Chandler said.
"Anyway," Joey said. "I've seen them together, and it's not weird. It actually makes a lot of sense."
Chandler and Monica smiled at him.
"It just… It fits. And I don't remember ever seeing any of them this happy."
Chandler felt his cheeks hit up, but Monica squeezed his hand stronger and smiled at him and he smiled back at her.
The room was silent for a few seconds.
"Okay," Ross said. "I'm a bit angry that you didn't tell us, but I understand why, and you two did seem calmer lately. I can't think of anyone I'd rather see you with, Mon."
He reached and squeezed her other hand.
"You're a good guy, Chandler," he smiled at him.
Chandler, who was worried Ross would want to rip him apart, sighed in relief.
Ross let go of Monica's hand and offered it for Chandler to shake it and he did.
"Well, if Ross is okay with this, I guess we don't have any reason to say anything against it," Rachel said. She stood up and went to hug Chandler and Monica.
"I'm happy for you guys," she said as she stood up.
"Pheebs?" Chandler looked at Phoebe with puppy eyes.
"Yeah, okay, come here," she said and stood up to hug Chandler and then Monica.
It took some time for the guys to get used to Chandler and Monica being a couple, but as times passes, all of them agreed that the Chandler and Monica just fit, like Joey said.
