It was Sunday and Lorelei was driving out to Hoyt Arboretum to go hiking with Katie, Melody, and their friends. The group was using it as a chance to blow of steam before the new semester started and to enjoy the last of the good weather before fall set in. Molly and Daisy were in the backseat. Lorelei had spent weeks training Daisy to wear a halter and walk on a lead. She seemed to enjoy getting out in the city with her sister. Lorelei thought they both might enjoy the hike.

Lorelei pulled into the carpark near the trail to find a few had already arrived, including Katie and Melody. They warmly greeted Lorelei as she got out of the car. Melody ran over, giving Lorelei a big hug. "It worked; he's left us alone. I even heard he may be transferring schools." She whispered to Lorelei. "Thank you."

Lorelei returned her hug warmly. "I'm glad I could help. No one messes with my friends." Lorelei told her, and Melody beamed at her as Katie joined them.

"Hey." Lorelei said. Katie greeted her with a punch to the shoulder. "Ow."

"Why didn't you tell me Juliette had been in the hospital?"

"How did you find out?"

"Uncle Bud."

"How the hell did he find out?"

"Apparently Juliette invited him over, asking questions about Nick. She has amnesia?"

Lorelei nodded. "Yeah. It's a long story, but to condense it down, an enchanted cat scratched her, she was in a coma, and when she woke up all her memories of Nick were gone."

"Damn, how's Nick?" Katie asked, looking concern. "And how is Juliette handling it?"

Lorelei sighed. "It's a mess. Nick is saying much, but I know it's hurting him. And I get the feeling Juliette is really frustrated as well."

"That's harsh man. Your brother is a good dude." Daniel, one of Katie's cousins said. The other eisbibers in attendance were all in agreeance.

"Well, I haven't met your brother yet, but word is spreading about him, and you Lorelei. I hope things work out." Melody commented. Lorelei smiled at her thankfully.

The rest of the day went well. They had opted for an easy trail as not everyone in attendance had hiking experience. Many people had stopped, wanting to take pictures of the ragdoll cat walking so calmly on a lead. Some asked how she'd done it. Daisy seemed to bask in the attention. There were some who didn't think a cat belonged on the trails, but that was their problem. Why should Daisy miss out on all the fun? Lorelei arrived at home and faced a dilemma. Both pets were passed out in the backseat, refusing to move. "Oh, come on guys. Wake up. I can't carry you both." She could put Daisy in the special backpack she had bought, but Molly weighed about 80 pounds. Although Lorelei could almost lift that in the gym, carrying an adult sized female Bernese across a parking garage, up the elevator, and into her apartment was not a good idea.

Lorelei pulled out her phone. She had called Sean before leaving Hoyt. They already had plans to meet at her place for dinner. He had been heading out to pick something up. Sean answered straight away. He was just walking back into their building now. She explained the situation, feeling embarrassed that she had to ask for help. She heard the elevator ding and saw the top of her soulmates head making its way across the garage. "Hi." She said, feeling a bit sheepish. "Sorry, but they are zonked out. And I can't carry Molly."

Sean smiled at her. "It's not a problem. I'm guessing they enjoyed the hike?"

"Very much so. Daisy was definitely the star of the show."

"I imagine not a lot of cats are seen on the trails." Lorelei shook her head before moving to hug him. He held her tightly for a few moments before pulling away. "Let's get these two to bed, so we can eat."

Lorelei slung her backpack on, took the bag of food from Sean, and grabbed Daisy. Sean grabbed the big lug that was Molly.

Upstairs, Sean laid Molly on the dog bed in the living room and Lorelei laid Daisy down beside her. The two animals had barely made a peep on the way up. "Is this what its like having kids?" Lorelei wondered out loud.

Sean laughed softly. "I'm not sure." He replied.

"Are you right if I have a quick shower? I am covered in nature."

Sean sent Lorelei off to get cleaned up while he got dinner set up. Lorelei came out less than 10 minutes later to find Sean sitting on the couch watching the news. "Anything interesting?" She asked, coming to stand beside him.

"Just the usual." Sean replied, pulling Lorelei to sit in his lap. He wrapped his arms around her, kissing her soundly. "I put the food in the oven to keep it warm." He mumbled before returning her lips.

"Mmm, thank you." Lorelei murmured. She gave him one last firm kiss before getting off him. She held out her hand. "Come on, I am starving."

School had restarted for the year and Lorelei was glad to get back into it. Although she was disappointed about having to cut back on her hours at work and the stress associated with being a college student, Lorelei enjoyed school. It gave her a sense of fulfilment. However, with the return of school, Lorelei had a full schedule. She had to find time to fit in gymnastics, to take care of her pets, socialise with her ever-growing friend groups, workout (thank god for the gym in her building), and spend time with Sean. Lorelei was grateful that her help wasn't need for any wesen related business.

At the end of the second week of school, Lorelei received a call from Monroe, asking her to come over one night. Lorelei thought it was a little weird as she was sure he was having dinner with Rosalee. However, he sounded freaked out, so naturally she went to him. She pulled up in front of Monroe's house at the same time that Nick arrived.

"What's going on?" Lorelei asked him, as they walked up to the front door together.

"Monroe said someone wants him dead." Was his reply as he knocked on the door.

Lorelei didn't have a chance to reply, as the door opened quickly. "How do you know someone wants you dead?" Nick asked once they were inside.

"Well." Monroe cleared his throat. "This is where it gets a little awkward."

"Well, did you get a death threat? A phone call? Letter? What?"

"Not exactly, it was more personal."

"Did someone threaten you face to face?" Lorelei asked.

"Actually, sort of." He gave an uncomfortable laugh. "Look, Nick, the person who was hired to kill me, and Nick, I think you'd agree, this shows some real character. This person actually told me, they were being offered $25,000…"

"Oh, for god's sake Monroe, just tell them." A woman said, walking out of the kitchen.

"You!" Nick said, drawing his gun and directing it towards the woman. So, it seemed Nick had met this woman before.

"Oh, you remembered. I'm touched." She said, as Monroe moved to stand between her and Nick.

"Put your hands your back, you're under arrest."

The woman's face woged. Another blutbad. "Angelina, come on stop, stop." Monroe said.

"Told you this was a bad idea."

Monroe turned to Nick. "Nick, she came here. Ok. She didn't have to do that. She told me about some guy who wants me dead, ok. I didn't know who else to turn to. She didn't want me to call you, but I said no, you'd help. That you'd overlook this little thing in her past." He said, gesturing to Angelina, who was still woged, eyeing Nick up.

"You mean, murder?"

"Yeah, well you don't have to get into the details right now, but the thing is there's like, 23 hours here before she's supposed to kill me. So, if neither of you can see fit to put aside your personal differences, I guess I'll just wait until the next hired murderer shows up at my door. Maybe I'll be ready, maybe I won't."

"Monroe's right. Look, I don't know the full story, but the most important thing here is to save Monroe." Lorelei said, glancing between the Grimm and the blutbad.

Monroe glanced between the two, Nick still with his gun pointing toward Angelia who was growling, tense waiting for an attack. Nick sighed and dropped his gun. "Ok." Monroe said, before looking back at Angelina, who returned to normal. "Ok, so we got like a truce here, or something."

"Who wants him dead?" Nick asked Angelina.

"A konigschlange." Angelina replied.

"What's his name?"

"If I knew his name, I would have told Monroe." Angelina said, gesturing to Monroe as his phone rang. "So, he wouldn't have to call you."

"Its Rosalee, you guys going to be ok here for, like, a second?"

He walked into the living room, but not before giving Lorelei a look that clearly said Stop them from killing each other. Lorelei stood there awkwardly, as Angelina watched her and Nick warily.

"Um, hi. I'm Lorelei. Nick's younger sister." Lorelei introduced herself to Angelina, who looked her up and down.

"A baby Grimm huh? You a cop too?"

Lorelei shook her head. "No, I'm a grad student. And technically, been a Grimm longer than him." She said nodding her head in Nick's direction.

"When did this guy hire you?" Nick interrupted.

"Tonight."

"How did he find you?"

"Well, I killed the guy that he hired to kill Monroe, and then he gave the job to me." Angelina said. Lorelei couldn't help but appreciate her sassy reply. Nick clearly wasn't happy with the answer.

"You killed someone else tonight?" Nick asked looking incredulous.

"Yeah, he was trying to rape me." Angelina told him. "So, yeah, he didn't leave me with much of a choice."

"So that's three people you've killed?"

"That you know of." Angelina said. Damn, Lorelei hoped Monroe's call would be over soon. Evidently, so did Nick as walked toward the living room and asked Monroe if he knew about Angelina's kill this evening.

"Yeah, she killed a guy who was hired to kill me. That's how she got the job, kind of by default." Monroe said. He looked at Angelina. "They gave her a phone. Give him the phone."

Angelina rolled her eyes, before pulling the phone out of her pocket and walking towards Nick and Monroe. "They're going to contact me tomorrow night and tell me where to deliver Monroe's body."

Nick took the phone and seemed disappointed. "It's a prepaid. I can't trace it."

Monroe sighed. "So, you understand why I called you? She doesn't know who it is. I don't know who it is. Man, I don't even know who I pissed off."

"Yeah, well you must have pissed off someone at some point." Nick told him. "Look, right now I have to get you someplace safe for the next 24 hours." He looked at Angelina. "And I'm going to need you to show me where you met these guys."

Angelina looked at him sceptically. "How do I know that you're not going to arrest me, as soon as we walk out the door?"

Nick glared at her. "I'm not interested in you right now. I'm interested in helping Monroe."

Angelina looked at Monroe, who have her an expecting look. She sighed. "It's the End Up Bar, its about 2 hours north of here."

Monroe smiled. "Alright. This is great." He looked at Nick, who was giving him a weird look. "Well, sort of. You two setting aside your differences for me, I'm actually kind of touched."

"Don't be." Angelina interrupted. "It's not over yet." She glared up at Nick and he glared back at her.

Lorelei and Monroe exchanged a look. "So, where is Monroe going to stay?"

In the end, it was decided the place for Monroe was at Hank's. No one really knew of his connection to Monroe. Due to the chance that Lorelei and Monroe's connection was known; her place was ruled out. Even though Hank seemed cool with Monroe and vice versa, Lorelei opted to stay with them. After Nick left, it was a little awkward to begin with, until Hank asked Monroe if he wanted a drink. That seemed to break the tension. However, it meant that Lorelei found herself babysitting a slightly drunk detective and a blutbad. While they were bonding, Lorelei was brainstorming ideas for what to do if they couldn't find the guys, who hired Angelina, before the deadline. As well as questioning who would want Monroe dead. What about those guys who had beaten him up earlier in the year? The ones who told him to stop helping Nick. Lorelei couldn't recall if they knew anything about those guys. She shook her head, but why would they want Monroe dead?

"This is great, this really, its like smooth and peaty." Monroe's speech was slightly slurred.

"Can I ask you something?"

"Um, sure" Monroe said, not sounding sure as he put down his glass.

"I'm still trying to understand how this whole thing works."

"Yeah, it can be kind of confusing, for the…layperson."

"I know." Hank agreed, before continuing. "When you do that change thing, does…"

"Woge." Monroe interrupted him. Hank tried repeating what he said, not quite getting it, but Monroe accepted it.

"Ok. Does it hurt?" Hank asked, and Lorelei glanced at Monroe. She had wondered but never got around to asking.

"Little bit." Monroe admitted. "But you get used to it."

Hank nodded. "If you were to do it right now, could I see you?"

Monroe thought about it. "Yes, and no."

"What does that mean?"

Monroe took a sip of his drink. "Well, there's sort of two versions. One is, you're all emotional, stressed out. The others like, you're just really pissed off." Hank nodded slightly. "In other words, if I don't want you to see me, you can't. But if I do, believe me, you will?

Hank picked up his own drink. "But Nick and Lorelei can see you, even if you don't want to be." He stated.

Monroe hummed in agreement. "That's what makes them different. That's why they're kind of dangerous for us." Hank nodded, while Monroe put his glass down. "You know what, I'm going to try to explain this using a visual aid." Lorelei raised an eyebrow at this.

"Ok." Hank said, taking a mouthful of his own drink.

Monroe took a breath and then he woged. Hank stared at him. "You look the same."

"Yeah, to you." Monroe glanced at Lorelei. "But not too her."

Hank looked at Lorelei for confirmation. She nodded. Monroe woged back and looked at Hank. "Now, this time I want you to remember its just me. Ok." Hank nodded, staring at Monroe intently. "I want you to see me."

Monroe let out another breath and cleared his throat, before woging again, looking at Hank, who jumped back out of his seat, shouting "Whoa!"

Monroe turned back, holding his arms up to show he wasn't a threat. "It's ok. It's just me, right?"

Hank was taking deep breaths, trying to calm himself down. He was still starting at Monroe. After a moment, he spoke "That was amazing."

Monroe shrugged. "Well." He took another sip of his drink.

"Can you do it again?"

Monroe glared at him.

"How are you feeling?" Lorelei asked Hank as he wandered into his kitchen the next morning.

Hank rubbed his eyes, before accepting the cup of coffee Lorelei offered him. "Alright. Probably shouldn't have had that last drink though."

Lorelei laughed, as she moved to sit at the kitchen table. "I thought I'd have to drag you two to bed." She commented.

"The Mom Look worked just as well." Hank smirked, joining her. He paused for a moment before looking up at her. "Actually, I wanted to ask you a favour."

"Shoot."

"Did Nick tell you about my goddaughter, Carly?" Lorelei nodded. "Ah, well, she's a senior in high school. You know, really starting to think about college. I know her dad would love it if she stayed in Portland. I was wondering, if you could, you know, maybe meet with her, tell her how great Portland State is…"

Lorelei smiled at him. "I could do that. Maybe give her an unofficial tour?"

Hank nodded enthusiastically. "Exactly. That would be great."

"How is she going? After the whole kidnapping thing?"

Hank sighed. "I think she is doing ok. Obviously, her and her dad are shaken up, but they're survivors."

Lorelei nodded in understanding. "Well, if she is comfortable meeting a Grimm. Feel free to give her my number. We can work something out."

"Thank you."

Eventually Monroe got up and not long after that, Nick arrived. "So, how'd it go last night?" Nick asked as he walked in the door.

"Yeah, no action here." Hank told him. "Learnt a lot though."

Monroe looked at Nick expectantly. "So'd you find out anything?"

Nick nodded. "I did, but I've got to talk to Hank first."

Monroe nodded and moved to sit down beside Lorelei on the couch. "What's going on?" Hank asked.

"You remember Angelina Lasser?"

"The arson case we had." Hank recalled. "You don't forget something like that."

Monroe piped in. "Yeah, trust me, not even if you wanted to."

Nick continued. "She was the one hired to kill Monroe. That's how we found out, she warned him."

"What?"

"She's in my car, Hank. I've been working with her, trying to figure out who's behind this."

"She's wanted for murder."

"I know. And I think we're going to have to overlook that until all this is over."

Hank gave Nick as disbelieving look. "Are you kidding me?"

"Look, Hank, I know. But she could have run, she didn't have to tell me anything, a matter of fact she could have killed me and taken the 25 grand. She just trying to…"

"This is really pushing it." Hank told Nick.

"I know. And if you're not ok with this, I can work it on my own."

There was silence, as Hank seemed to consider his options, before he sighed. "Bring her in."

Hank exchanged looks with Monroe and Lorelei, as Nick brought Angelina in. She looked at Hank. "So, I guess you've been brought up to speed about how the world really works?"

"I'm getting there."

Angelina looked at Nick. "You tell him?" She asked, gesturing to Monroe.

"Tell me what?" Monroe asked.

Nick look troubled. He looked at Monroe. "The hit isn't about you, it's about me and probably Lorelei as well."

Monroe looked confused. "What?"

"Looks like someone is not very happy with you being friends with Grimms."

Monroe looked surprised. "What, those same guys who had me beat up before?" Damn it, one of Lorelei's theories appeared to be correct.

Nick shook his head. "I don't think so, not for $25,000, this is a bigger deal."

"What? Well, who then?"

"The guy who hired me is working for someone else." Angelina told him.

"Then, who the hell is that?"

"We don't know." Angelina replied.

"Could be a Royal." Angelina and Monroe looked at Nick in surprise, while Hank looked confused. "Look, I heard there could be one in Portland."

Monroe looked sceptical. "A Royal in Portland, really? This is getting kind of personal; don't you think?"

"Somebody wants to send a message to all of us." Angelina said.

A look of recognition crossed Hank's face. "She's one too?"

Everyone looked at him, and Nick confirmed that Angelina was a blutbad.

"Look, the bottom line is, we're running out of time. They're going to contact me tonight and if I don't deliver Monroe's body, they're coming after both of us." Angelina said.

"And we're not going to find out who's behind this." Nick told her.

"Alright, so how do we deliver a dead Monroe without killing him?" Hank asked.

"Dead Faint." Monroe said and Lorelei stared at him.

"What the hell is that?" Hank asked.

"It's a potion that puts whoever drinks it in a state resembling death. But it can be dangerous." Lorelei answered.

"It's our best shot." Monroe argued with her. "Rosalee's shop should have everything we need."

"At least we'd have someone qualified to make it." Lorelei commented.

Monroe looked down. "Actually, Rosalee had to go out of town. We'd have to make it."

Lorelei groaned. "Of course we would."

When they got to the spice shop, Monroe called Rosalee and put her on speaker phone. "Hey Rosalee. So, uh, we have a problem. I'm in the spice shop with Lorelei, Nick, and Hank…"

"And me." Angelina interjected. "We need your help hun. We wouldn't be here if we didn't."

Monroe stared at Angelina. "You want to let me handle this?" He said to Angelina.

"Handle what?" Rosalee asked from the other end of the phone.

Monroe sighed. "I need your help with a Dead Faint." Monroe told her.

Rosalee was silent for a moment. "For who?"

Monroe was also silent for moment, no doubt not looking forward to Rosalee's reaction. Upon finding out what was going on, and who the Dead Faint was for, Rosalee was not happy. "Rosalee, we have to."

"It's too dangerous."

"He's a konigschlange." Angelina said into the phone.

Monroe nodded. "Yeah. He'll know if I'm faking it."

Nick interjected. "Rosalee, how does it work?" he asked.

Rosalee sighed. "You ever hear of the poison in a blowfish? It's called tetrodotoxin. It's a sodium channel blocker and it paralyses the muscles, slowing down bodily functions. Add green kohler vat, and for all intents and purposes, you're dead."

"Ok, so it's like suspended animation." Monroe commented.

"Unless you don't wake up." Lorelei could hear the emotion in Rosalee's voice. She had no doubt that Rosalee deeply cared for Monroe.

"Well, it'll be permanent anyway if they get to him." Angelina called from her position on the ladder.

"I don't want to live my life looking over my shoulder, you know?" Monroe added. "And I'm not interested in leaving Portland. I got a lot of good things going on here." That last part seemed to be directed towards Angelina.

"There are some problems, you know. One, you wake up too soon, which in that case, I don't know, they kill you. The other is, you don't wake up at all."

"I guess in that case, I get the money." Angelina said, as she returned to the counter.

"And which would you prefer?" Rosalee asked her, her tone challenging.

"What do you think?"

"Was Dead Faint your idea?"

Angelina went to say something; however Monroe interrupted her. "Actually, it was mine."

Hank spoke up. "Ok. What are the chances of him not waking up?"

Rosalee sighed. "I don't know. I've only ever seen it done once."

"And what happened that time?" Angelina asked.

"I never found out. It was something my Dad did. And he never talked about it."

Those in the spice shop glanced at one another. "Well, I'm willing to take the risk." Monroe said.

"Monroe, please, I…I can't, I can't do this."

"Listen. If we don't catch this guy, all of Nick and Lorelei's friends are going to be at risk." Monroe told her gently. "And that includes you. I am not going to let that happen."

At that moment, the burner phone Angelina had started ringing. "It's him."

They put their conversation with Rosalee on hold, as Angelina took the call, putting it on speaker so they could all hear it. It was a short conversation, with Angelina confirming she had done the job and the konigschlange giving a location to meet at. Rosalee eventually told them what had to be done. Lorelei followed her directions and Monroe took it, laying down on the loveseat in the side room, as instructed by Rosalee.

"If he doesn't wake up in two hours, you have to respirate him." Rosalee told them. "If his face goes white or his hands start to curl, he's running out of time."

"I got it." Angelina told her. Lorelei could see the emotions on her face. Angelina still loved Monroe. Lorelei felt her heart go out to her. She couldn't imagine having to go through this with Sean.

"Monroe…"

From his position on the loveseat, Monroe shook his head, although Lorelei could see the fear written across his face. "Don't worry. I'll be fine." He said, before passing out.

Those surrounding him looked on. Lorelei wasn't a religious person, but found herself praying that it would all work out.

They loaded Monroe up into Angelina's car and headed out. Hank, Nick, and Lorelei followed, parking some distance away from Angelina so they could keep watch. Nick was speaking with Angelina via phone, and she told him someone was approaching. As they watched, Nick said to Hank. "Hank, whatever goes down out here tonight…"

"Yeah, I know. Of the books."

Lorelei's hand went to her waist, where her gun was sitting. She was ready to use it, if need be, but she would follow Nick's lead. They needed to find out who these guys were working for. As they were watching, another car arrived. Lorelei saw what appeared to be a woman get out and approach Angelina. Obviously, they couldn't hear what was going on, but the woman briefly conversed with Angelina before heading back to her car. After that, things happened fast. The guys who hired Angelina, drew their guns. Nick, Hank and Lorelei moved down to join Angelina. As they reached them, Angelina leapt from the car towards one of the men and a gunshot went off. Angelina fell to the ground. Monroe, now conscious again, leapt out and attacked the guy who had fired. One guy ran off, while the mysterious woman took off in the car, she had arrived in. Nick took off the man who had run off, with Hank following.

Lorelei ran over to Angelina and moved her onto her back. Her white shirt was already covered in blood. "Oh, fuck." Lorelei said, moving her hand to apply pressure to the wound.

Monroe had finished off the guy he attacked and joined Lorelei. "Angelina." He said, the worry evident in his voice.

Angelina looked up at him, a look of relief on her face. "Monroe, you're alive." Monroe nodded, as he looked down where Lorelei was trying to stop the bleeding.

"We gotta get her to a hospital." Lorelei told him, trying not to panic. However, she had a feeling that even if they got to a hospital, it would be too late.

"No time Little Grimm." Angelina groaned out. Her breath was ragged, shallow. Had the bullet hit her lung? Damn it, why hadn't Lorelei gone into medicine instead of public health.

Monroe was starting to panic. "There is time…right?" He stuttered, looking over the Lorelei, pleading with his eyes. Lorelei didn't know what to say.

"I think the bullet may have hit her lung or something." Lorelei said, trying to keep calm as she kept applying pressure. There wasn't much else she could do.

Angelina reached up, cupping Monroe's face. "That woman…got away. Be careful." She whispered. Monroe nodded. "Damn." Angelina said, before her head dropped back and her hand fell from Monroe's face.

Lorelei checked her pulse, but found nothing, as Nick and Hank returned. Lorelei shook her head at them, letting them know she had passed. Monroe looked up at them, tears in his eyes. Nick pulled his phone out, but Monroe told him not to call anyone. He was going to bury Angelina the blutbad way. Nick and Hank left, and Lorelei stayed with Monroe. When the sun had risen, they buried Angelina in the woods together, placing large stones over her final resting place.
