"I must admit that I didn't expect you to learn how to properly use a weapon. I thought you'd prefer to use your magic on the battlefield." Kenshi admitted while he trained with Reily with a wooden katana while Reily is using a wooden dagger in place of the weapon he wanted which was a combat knife.
"No reason I can't fight and use my Arcana at the same time. Besides, I have a limited amount of magical power. So, its best for me to learn how to wield a weapon in case I run out of juice." Reily said while he focused purely on deflecting and parrying Kenshi's attacks while also taking notice that his overall level had reached a shockingly high rise in experience needed to level up.
Reily did the math and learned that his class experience and level experience rose in two different ways. A level up means that he has gained strength through hardship while his class levels reflect how skilled he is at what he does while a class is equipped. Meaning that despite his amount of spell slots, he didn't have access to higher level spells yet. So, pure DnD and Pathfinder rules don't apply in the traditional sense, but more like guidelines in how the game system works.
"Remember to close the distance between us. A knife fighter's worst enemy is distance." Kenshi advised while Reily used his wooden dagger sized weapon to block another strike before using his left hand to hit the swordsman with his Aero spell, which sent Kenshi back a bit from the wind blast that temporarily stunned him.
"I can close the distance, but don't forget that I have ranged options as well." Reily said before walking over and offered the swordsman a hand that he gratefully took as Reily helped him up before casting another spell. "Cure."
The energy came from Reily's hand before hitting Kenshi and healing some of the damage he received. The simple Cure spell didn't heal that much damage at all realistically and basically functioned as a pain killer and band-aid. But it was what he had to work with right now.
"Forgive me for assuming that this was just weapon training." Kenshi replied with a roll of his eyes.
"It was and I learned a lot after two hours. But I'm exhausted and figured that I should end the fight quickly. The rules where I had to knock you onto the ground, not that I didn't have to use magic."
"Fair enough I suppose. But next time, please try to maintain the spirit of the training exercise." Kenshi asked before both warriors put their weapons away and headed into the cafeteria space to get some lunch and during that time, Reily received a new game message.
[Due to training diligently with a weapon and magic you have gained the [Spell Strike] Achievement.]

Spell Strike
Whenever a Red Mage casts a touch or ranged spell from the Red Mage spell list, he can deliver the spell through any weapon he is wielding as part of a melee attack. Instead of the touch attack normally allowed to deliver the spell, a Red Mage can make one free attack with his melee weapon as part of casting a spell.
If successful, this melee attack deals its normal damage as well as the effects of the spell. This attack uses the weapons critical hit range (20, 19-20, or 18-20 and modified by the keen weapon property or similar effects), but the spell effect only deals x2 damage on a successful critical hit, while the weapon damage uses its own critical modifier.]
'Useful.' Reily thought to himself while he ate his bowl of noodles. He didn't know the name of the dish but made a note to try and have it again from how delicious it is before another screen appeared.

Arcane Accuracy
The Red Mage can expend 1 point from his arcane pool as a swift action to grant himself an insight bonus equal to his Charisma bonus on all attack rolls until the end of his turn.]

Reily couldn't stifle a groan of slight annoyance at what he had just seen, because that game message meant that he couldn't grind and break the game in ways that he originally planned. But this news wasn't a full nerf honestly. It just makes things more balanced and less chaotic. And speaking of, Reily still hadn't summoned his familiar yet.
So, after he finished his food, he made his way to his private room and focused on his familiar talent and tried to summon his familiar. After several moments of trained focus, Reily saw a flash of crimson arcane light in front of him in the form of a magic circle on the ground and materializing in front of Reily is his familiar.
[You have summoned your 'Infant Typhoon' familiar. It grows in strength as you do. While summoned you gain a 3-point bonus to CON and a 1-point bonus to STR with an additional 3 AC boost.]
"Holy shit." Reily said with wide eyes from the boost he had just gotten by having his familiar with him. Said familiar looked to be a Chinese styled dragon. It is covered in obsidian black scales with white hair on top of its head and trailing down the back of its fin like tail. There are noticeable gills on its small neck and its eyes are dark amber. It has four webbed feet like a chameleon, and it is staring up at Reily with its large eyes. The dragon was the size of a small pocket dog and weight just as much as Reily easily picked up the little guy and let him crawl onto his shoulder where he firmly stayed.
"You're going to grow up into a tough little guy, huh?" Reily asked while the dragon let out a small yawn. "Wait…Do you need water to survive?"
Reily was half-expecting the infant typhoon to talk, but sadly it wasn't the case, and the infant typhoon simply nuzzled against Reily's neck.
"Well. I can feel you breathing so I guess you can thrive in water and land like an alligator or something." Reily said with a shrug before he heard a loud explosion sound off along with several monks screaming.
"What the hell was that?" Reily shouted before running out towards the courtyard and saw firsthand that the shaolin was being attacked by an infamous gang known as the Black Dragon.
The timing couldn't have been worse since Raiden has left the academy for the time being. Meaning that it was up to the Earthrealm champions and the shaolin monks to stop this attack.
"Good evening, ladies and gents. The names Jarek and with me are the Black Dragon clan. We're here for Earthrealm's champions and we are getting paid a shit load of money for each of their heads. So, make this easy and hand them over, otherwise my boys and girls are gonna make this temple into a lifeless krypt." Jarek said into a megaphone before Reily noticed other monks charging into the fight.
"Well, don't just stand around and look pretty. We've got some asses to kick." Johnny said after placing a supportive hand on Reily's shoulder.
"Yeah, I'm with you. The others will join us soon enough, but right not we need to take out as many Black Dragons as possible." Reily said while Johnny nodded before both men headed into the battle.
Johnny activated his arcana and was shrouded in an emerald, green energy that protected him from bullets as a few Black Dragon members shot at him but found their bullets scrapping against his powerful aura of arcane energy before Johnny firmly started kicking their asses with his trained Kombat skills.
Reily on the other hand was a bit nervous since this would become his first real fight for his life and the lives of others. However, he pushed down his hesitation while also ignoring a quest alert he got before he engaged a group of Black Dragon members.
"Wind Shield, Aero." Reily cast his spells with each hand as the left hand manifested a tornado like aura around him that was able to reflect bullets sent his way while his right hand sent out a blast of wind towards the Black Dragon members which sent them all to the ground and stop firing their bullets as Reily quickly closed the distance and delivered a Krushing heel strike to the back of the closets Black Dragon members head which made Reily himself wince in pain while the Black Dragon soldier got his face slammed hard into the ground with a sick crunch sound.
He firmly stopped moving after that while Reily knocked out the other cartel members with powerful strikes to their heads while they were knocked prone and vulnerable to attacks.
Reily was suddenly sent flying off his feet as his shield of wind power shattered while he landed on his back. The object that hit him was a large chunk of rock that had Reily coughing and wheezing as he got back up to his feet and tried to catch his breath as he saw that the person who attacked him was a man who also seemed to have parts of his body replaced with living stone as he is dressed in ninja like attire with a gas mask over his mouth. The clothes were brown and black while the mask was a dark steel color, and his eyes were amber as the ground beneath the man trembled with rocks levitating around him as each step cased cracks and fissures on the concrete floor of the courtyard.
"Your one of Earthrealms champions?" The man asked while Reily wiped his mouth before getting into a fighting stance.
"I am. What of it?" Reily asked with a glare while Typhoon let out a screech like roar from his maw towards the brown clad ninja.
"You will die in the rubble." The man claimed before raising his hands and sent them towards the ground, causing it to tremble and shake, making it difficult for Reily to keep his footing before the ninja charged at Reily with impressive speed and hit Reily in the chest with a powerful stone enhanced punch that sent Reily to his feet which pain wracking his chest before he rolled over with Typhoon clinging onto him as the ninja had tried to punch the knocked prone Red Mage, but instead had impaled his fist into the ground.
"Find somewhere to hide. I'll come for you later." Reily ordered his familiar who seemed upset but understood as it ran from the battle, allowing Reily to focus purely on this fight before he looked down at one of the downed Black Dragon members he knocked out and firmly grabbed the man's combat knife.
Reily held it in his right hand before he charged at the brown ninja who summoned up several rock projectiles from the ground the size of footballs and fired them at Reily.
"Wind Shield." Reily cast as his protective winds formed and with careful dodging, Reily managed to evade getting hit by the projectiles that grazed his wind barrier without destroying it as he closed the distance and slashed at the ninja's torso, but the knife wound was shallow and stopped halfway before the blade broke against the ninjas body. The brown ninja countered with a high knee impacting Reily's jaw with staggering force before he grabbed Reily in a headlock before raising him up into the air and slammed him onto his back on the ground hard.
The ninja repeated the grab and slam twice before tossing Reily to the side as Reily tasted the metallic flavor of blood in his mouth and felt his entire body screaming in pain.
"Weak." The brown ninja said before he grabbed Reily by the collar of his robes and lifted him up. In response, Reily brought both his hands up and slammed them into the ninjas ears as hard as he could in a cupped fashion for maximum effectiveness. This technique was designed to burst ear drums in the best case or seriously hurt and stagger in the worst.
Luckily the ninja let out a scream of pain as he let go of Reily and quickly brought his hands up to both his ears while he staggered backwards a few steps with a painful ringing in his ears.
"Cure." Reily cast the spell on himself but as expected, it didn't heal that much damage and barely helped. But Reily cast the spell again two more times before the brown ninja found his footing once again.
The ninjas exposed arms changed from stone to becoming comparable to obsidian rock with bright magmalike veins flowing through the cracks as the ground underneath the ninja bubbled and boiled into molten rock with steam rising from the man and the ground beneath him.
"I will enjoy killing you." The brown ninja claimed before he raised his hands up into the air as the ground in front of him burst like a miniature volcano and spewed lava out in dangerous volleys of molten rocks everywhere in sight. Reily didn't even want to test if his weak level one spell could deflect magma, so he dodged as best he could while seeing that the ninja had even attacked his own downed allies.
Their bodies melt from the magma in a disturbing pool of molten rock and visceral gore.
Reily didn't know how he could win this fight. Wind traditionally isn't strong against earth and his attacks had little to no effect on the ninja aside from staggering him.
"Shit. How am I supposed to beat this guy?" Reily asked himself before the lava volley ceased and the brown ninja shouted in pain. Reily looked on and saw that the brown ninja had a familiar looking chakram hat embedded in his right shoulder. Sadly, the hat quickly melts from the heat, much to its owner's disappointment.
"It's sad that an Arcana that powerful belongs to a common thug." Kung Lao said as he was a few steps behind the brown ninja while he was in a ready stance. "You also need to buy me a new hat."
"I will kill all of you." The brown ninja claimed before using his free hand to grasp the partially melted hat in his shoulder and ripped it out of his body. The wound even burst with lava instead of blood as the hat formed a metallic puddle on the ground.
"You shall not!" The thunderous voice of Raiden said before lighting struck the ground near the brown ninja and in its place was the god of thunder himself.
The brown ninja swung at Raiden who teleported out of the way with his mastery of magic and not only appeared behind the brown ninja, but he grabbed hold of the ninja's face and leg before lifting him into the air and sent thousands of volts through the ninja's body, making him scream before Raiden released the ninja with a burst of electrical power that knocked the ninja away a good few feet away. And when the ninja tried to stand he was met with Raiden who flew towards him like a missile with his arms extended outwards and collided with the ninja and had him sent crashing into a few other Black Dragon members, indirectly killing them from the heat the ninja gave off, along with the force that had sent the brute flying.
Dozens of Black Dragon soldiers looked on at Raiden who not only flew into the air, but also called down dozens of bolts of electricity onto the grounds of the Wu Shi Academy, which served to separate the Black Dragon from the Shaolin.
"Begone from this place Black Dragon! Else you'll face a God's wrath!" Raiden announced loudly while he looked down at the scene.
Dozens of Shaolin dead. Johnathan Cage was on the loosing end of a fight with the man known as Erron Black. A man who's lived far longer than normal due to his connection to Shang Tsung. Liu Kang and Kenshi had defeated Kai and Jarek while Sonya Blade had defeated several Black Dragon and Kabal thanks to her skill and military technology.
The remaining Black Dragon of any authority was Kira who gave the God of thunder a death glare but didn't bother fighting and called the Black Dragon back. The defeated or dead Black Dragon was left behind while the injured hobbled after the unharmed assailants.
Raiden lowered himself to the ground and aided the Shaolin intending to the injured and deceased while Earthrealm's champions were also looked over for their injuries.
Reily was having bandages wrapped around his injured ribs and couldn't help but be disappointed in how he performed in this fight.
The quest he ignored from earlier had been completed and appeared before him.

Reily let his head fall as frustration appeared on his face. The fact that he had failed to complete a quest and is probably the first Gamer in history to do so, was a serious blow to his confidence and it certainly didn't make him feel like he was getting stronger.
For the rest of the day, he not only found where Typhoon was hiding, but the familiar was the one comforting him the rest of the day as he lamented over his defeat and the fact that he barely survived against an enemy that wasn't even going to be in the Mortal Kombat tournament.

A/N: Another chapter done, and our main character failed a quest. Shocking, but level one spells, and a knife fighter doesn't stack up against Tremor and his level of power. Could Kung Lao stop him? Probably, but he didn't get the chance since Raiden came home pissed that outsiders were attacking the Wu Shi Academy and sabotaging their own realm.
