when Savannah woke up, she had an awful feeling. she didn't know why, but it felt as though her gift was being stretched out between a far distance.
worried something might have happened to her brother, she rushed to his room, still in her white and red nightdress.
but when she opened the door, no one was there.
she walked over to the bed confused, that was when she saw the note.
"dear familia, please don't panic at my disappearance. I've gone to go find Gramma, Grampa, tia Isabella and tia Luisa. I'll come back if I don't find them within a week. love, Pedro the second" Savannah said as she read it aloud.
she dropped the piece of paper on the ground as her breathing became faster.
"papa!" she yelled as she ran out of her brothers room and into the hallway.
"what is it Savannah!?" he cried in a panic, not even wearing a shirt.
"Pedro left and only left a note" Savannah explained.
her fathers eyes widened in shock.
.
meanwhile Pedro was singing as he walked through the forest.
"in the wild, all alone. never gonna give up though. by myself. never gonna give into your disappointment! nobody around" he sang before tripping on a twig.
"never, never gonna give into your tries to bring me down" he sung as he got up and tossed the stick away.
"in the wild, all alone. never gonna give in though. you try and try. but never win! never gonna give into your disappointment. nobody around. never, never gonna give into your tries to bring me down. nobody around. nobody to help you. to save you. from the rain of disappointment. oooh. never gonna bring me down. never gonna give into your disappointment. nobody to help you. to save you. from the rain of disappointment! of your disappointment. of never bringing me down" Pedro sang happily as he skipped into a clearing.
he stopped everything when he saw a Jaguar on the other side of the clearing.
the Jaguar walked towards him before sniffing him.
it then rubbed its head against his stomach before leaving.
"never gonna give into your tries to bring me down" Pedro nervously sung as the Jaguar disappeared into the trees.
"Nobody around. Oooh. In the wild, all alone. Never gonna give up though. By myself. Never gonna give into your disappointment. Nobody around. Never, never gonna give into your tries to bring me down. In the wild, all alone. Never gonna give in though. You try and try. But never win! Never gonna give into your disappointment. Nobody around. Never, never gonna give into your tries to bring me down. Nobody around. Nobody to help you. To save you. From the rain of disappointment. of your disappointment. Oooh. Oooh. Never, never gonna give into your tries to bring me down. Nobody around" he finally finished his song when he came across a beautiful river, pink plants growing within the water.
he took off his shoes and pulled up his pants, ready to cross the river.
as he grabbed his shoes from the ground he heard a sound in the bushes on the other side of the river.
Pedro panicked, running back into the forest.
he watched as a girl around his sisters age and a boy around his own age walked to the edge of the river.
"Abigail, I really think we should go back. you know we're not allowed to go past the mountains. what will papa think? and tio Antonio and tia Luisa an-" the boy rambled while fiddling with the sunglasses on his face.
"oh relax Carlos, we're not going to get caught!" Abigail cut him off before kneeling down and dipping her hand in the water.
Pedro watched from the bushes as the girl stood up and took off her shoes.
the girl slowly put her foot in the water before putting the other foot in as well.
she walked over to a few blades of grass in the center of the river, not caring about the wet trim of her dress.
"why did you bring me and not Diego or Nicolas or even Ana!?" Carlos asked, still standing at the edge of the river.
"Diego or Nicolas would just tell on me the moment we got to the crack in the mountain and Ana's only 3" Abigail replied, kneeling down and brushing her fingers against the grass.
Pedro took a deep breath before standing up.
"who are you talking about?" Pedro asked. Abigail shrieked in surprise and fell onto her butt while Carlos screamed at the top of his lungs before spinning on his heel and running away.
"our brothers and prima" Abigail explained, seemingly gasping for breath.
"I have twin older sisters, Savannah and Sofia. I also have a primo named Aaron" Pedro told the girl, walking out into full view.
"okay?" Abigail wondered aloud as she stood up, her yellow and orange dress soaking wet.
"my names Pedro by the way, sorry for spying on you and that boy" Pedro apologized, walking over to the edge of the river.
"eh, its alright, I should've known he would've probably run screaming at some point" Abigail shrugged.
"the stupid scaredy cat" she whispered, glancing over to the direction Carlos had run in.
"I'm guessing your names Abigail?" Pedro asked, stepping into the river too.
"yep, Mr scared back there is Carlos, my younger brother. he's triplets with our hermanos Diego and Nicolas. Ana's our younger prima" Abigail explained.
"I don't have any brothers, or primas" Pedro admitted to a 20 year old girl he just met.
"do you have any tios or tias? I have two tios, Camilo and Antonio" the girl randomly said.
"I have a tio named David, hes my papas twin brother. my mama had two older sisters but I never met them and my mama didn't really like talking about her side of the family" Pedro explained to the girl, slightly waving the boots in his hand in the air.
"my mom had three primas who we call our tias but tia Mirabel left many years ago and tia Isabella died a few years after" Abigail told him sadly.
"oh, sorry. that's way too personal" she lightly laughed, trying to lighten the mood.
"heh, my moms name was Mirabel" Pedro said, brushing off the name thing as a coincidence.
"Abigail?" a voice called from a distance.
"ugh, that's my cue to go, fun seeing you though Pedro" Abigail told him before beginning to walk in the direction the voice had come from.
"bye!" Pedro replied.
.
5 year old Pedro watched as his mother bent down and held out her glowing hands, proudly smiling at him.
he walked over, dressed in white and placed his hands in hers.
his father and sisters watched for a few moments before concern appeared on their faces.
"mama? why isn't anything happening?" Pedro asked after a full minute had gone by, pulling his hands away.
his mother looked at him in shock and worry, her mind seemingly elsewhere.
she took a deep breath before gently holding his hand up.
Pedro watched as his mother cast a light spell while still holding his hand, making it appear as though it was cast by him.
"this is your gift" she smiled proudly.
pure joy and happiness filled his expression as he realized what she was saying.
.
10 year old Pedro sat at a bench, waiting for his friends to finish talking to his parents.
he glanced at his hands, only to see the mark of the miracle appearing on them. the wing pattern was slightly different from his mothers, but it was definitely the miracle.
he practically jumped off the bench and ran over to his friends.
"guys look! I got my powers!" Pedro exclaimed in excitement.
he was confused when instead of happiness being on the adults faces like his friends, there was only worry and concern.
they said nothing as a few of them began heading to Pedro's home.
he turned to continue watching them, concern appearing on his features as well.
.
15 year old Pedro looked on at the mountain, recognizing it from his mothers descriptions.
he took a deep breath.
and began heading towards it, boots on his feet and mochila bag over his shoulder.
