Author's Note: These sonnets explore the progression of Killua's and Kurapika's friendship across six arcs: Hunter Exam, Zoldyck Family, Yorknew City, Greed Island, Chairman Election, and Succession Contest.

I. From Killua to Kurapika

I first encountered you at a long dash
But showed more interest in your young friend.
When red-eyed, you grew stronger and more rash;
I whistled but said nothing in the end.
Up on Kukuroo Mountain, you three came
To save me from the punishment of kin.
From shyness, I feigned I forgot your name
Yet was impressed you managed to get in.
September fourth was when we met again
On Dayroad Park where I gorged on dessert
To keep from saying anything, but then
You flashed a smile so bright that my eyes hurt.

You trusted us with secrets that could kill;
Our friendship has burned slow, but it burns still.

II. From Kurapika to Killua

In darkness when the seer loses sight,
You call me with your voice full of concern.
When I insist that all will be all right,
Regret distorts your tone, and we adjourn.
I don't mean to dismiss your offered hand;
I've only gotten used to solitude.
In dire straits, you don't turn to me, demand
My presence for you know my attitude.
I wish to bridge this distance that has grown
Since I failed to appear beside Gon's bed.
I ask you for suggestions on the phone
For allies who will stand me in good stead.

You go to bat for friends without delay;
I'm waiting for the day I can repay.
