Chapter 6

Consequences

A/N

Apparently I goofed last time. I thought it was only Mama Mia and the other waitresses that watched over Syr. Apparently she got another whole entourage for that. I am guessing that must be in one of the newer novels that I have only read summaries for or I just forgot. Just know for the canon of this story, she didn't have the entire entourage to protect her and thus she gets killed. Sorry

Orario was in full crisis mode. Two goddesses had been slain in less then a month and nobody knew who had done it. The criminal had been labeled "godslayer." They had the entire city in fear. Gods had died from time to time in the past but, there was always a God that admitted to it or a child caught. It had been weeks since Freya was murdered and they were no closer to finding the murderer. It was to the point that most Gods refused to leave their familia home. Some deities with very strong adventurers would leave their home but usually only with a level 5 adventurer or higher and very few familias had those.

The members of Freya familia were of course devastated. Everything they had done for years on end had only one goal and that was to please Freya. They were absolutely directionless with her passing. Some had joined new familias, some had left Orario entirely and some had even taken their own lives to chase Freya all the way to Tenkai. They had pledged to follow her no matter what and they had taken that to the most extreme logical conclusion. There was one place none of the former members went to and that was Loki familia. They were of course the biggest suspect in all of this because they by far had the most to gain.

After the passing of the Goddess, Ottar had disappeared. Some people rumored he had gotten a falna and was hunting down the killer, some speculated he had taken his own life and others claimed Loki familia ambushed him the second he lost his blessing in a power play. What really happened nobody knew but, the result was the same. He was the only chance any other familia would have of rivaling Loki's so, they were the first familia in such a power position since before Zeus and Hera.

People on the street were extremely polite and obedient out of fear to any Loki familia member. People always had given a little extra respect to high class adventurers but, this had been brought to an entirely different level. Loki had instructed everybody to behave normally and things would eventually get back to normal. They wanted to send the message that despite being the undisputed strongest, they did not have nefarious intentions. They were going to go about their lives as business as usual.

Meanwhile our favorite golden haired yandere was making sure to lie low. She was keeping her familia close and her bunny closer, as an executive of the familia she had been tasked with investigating the "godslayer" case. They figured if they found the godslayer it would take the "false" accusations that their familia killed Freya away. This was a bit of an awkward task for Aiz, her being the Godslayer and all. Most of the executives had interviewed eyewitnesses, talked to what few former Freya members would actually speak to them about a potential enemy besides them and just investigate suspicious people . It appeared that both Goddesses were killed while alone so, nobody knew what level the godslayer was so, everybody was a suspect even those without a falna. The goddesses were only the power of an average human on Earth so, even the average citizen or group of citizens with a grudge and information about when the Goddesses would be alone could do this.

Aiz though had been just doing the bare minimum when it came to investigating. There really wasn't much of a point in it for her. She was just trying to keep her head down and hope not to be noticed. If anybody were to catch her, it would most likely be her own familia. She was gone during the time of both of the killings and if they were to investigate deeply enough they could find motive. Luckily, nobody was suspecting her. She was a little upset when she heard people accusing Bell of doing it. He was the only connection people could find between the two. Freya's obsession had become public knowledge after her death as, her familia members loudly accused Bell. All of Bell's former familia members and Eina had given him an alibi during the Hestia murder so, nobody took the claim he killed both seriously. Although some people had came up with a more wild theory that Freya had Hestia murdered and Bell killed Freya in revenge.

These kinds of theories upset Aiz more then anything. Bell would never do something like that, he was pure, wholesome and would never do such things. It was absolutely ridiculous. That is part of the reason she was keeping him extra close. There were rumors that some of the former Freya members were going to take revenge. This had gotten way too out of hand, she went to kill some useless waitress and now Orario was on edge and her Bell might be in danger. This wasn't how things were supposed to go. It had always been murder the stupid whore and reap the Bell benefits. First, with Lily she got to hold Bell more then ever and comfort him. Next with Phryne, she got to hold him, a kiss on the head and got to hold his hand on the way back. Then with Hestia she got to give Bell a lap pillow all night in his bed and then take him home and add him to the familia. She killed Ryuu and she was dating Bell just a few days later but, it had been weeks and everything was still terrible this time.

This is why Aiz has been spending alot of time in the dungeon lately and if Aiz was in the dungeon, Bell was sure to follow. Bell had told Aiz that he needed to visit the 25th floor to visit a friend. The floor boss at that level had already been defeated so, the two of them should be able to make it down their relatively safely they decided. After all, Bell survived floor 37 with a much lesser party member being chased by a Juggernaut after already being eaten so, compared to that this was nothing, when they got there Bell started yelling once he reached the top of the waterfall

"MARI! MARI! MARI!"

It wasn't long before our favorite Mermaid Xeno showed up.

"Bell...hi! Who...this?" Mari says pointing towards Aiz.

"She is my girlfriend Aiz and Aiz this is the Xeno who saved me from dying. She gave me some of her blood after I lost my arm. It is the only reason I still have it." Bell explained

"Thank you for saving MY Bell." Aiz said the "MY" exaggeratedly making sure this Xeno gets the message.

Aiz was unsure about Xenos to start with and this was certainly a pretty one. She was pretty sure Bell wouldn't fall for a monster but, she heard Mermaids had charm powers so, she was going to keep her guard up because of course she didn't know about Bell's immunity. She did kinda like this Xeno though, afterall she saved Bell when Aiz couldn't. She was the saving grace from that reckless elf who nearly got her precious bunny killed. She remembered punishing that stupid elf and smirked slightly.

"Yes, thank you very much!."

'Wel...come... Fri...ends?" Mari says pointing behind Bell before diving into the water and hiding

Bell and Aiz were alone. There shouldn't be anyone else down here. They turn around a spear is flying at Bell. Aiz calls Tempest to push it out of the way just in time to make it miss. Then Aiz sees a dark haired cat man charging towards them with another spear. Aiz's tempest turns a dark black as she sees the man who just tried to kill Bell. She runs and meets him half way. Bell tries to follow her to help but is grabbed from behind. He turns to look up at who it is.

"Ottar!?!?" Bell says in shock. This is very very bad Bell thinks but then

"Don't worry. I am not here to hurt you. I just want to talk"

"Then why is he attacking Aiz?!" Bell spits out with more anger then he probably should at a man who could easily kill him.

"Allen thinks you killed Freya but, I do not. I told him I would not fight but, I would keep it a fair fight. Don't even think about using your magic or I will have to hurt you. "

Bell couldn't do anything but watch the fight and hope for the best. Aiz was at a natural disadvantage as spears have much more reach then swords so, she would have to get in close to attack. The problem with that was Allen's speed, he was the fastest in the city so, getting close would be near impossible. Aiz had some advantages too though with her black tempest she was much stronger then Allen, her wind also made for a defensive barrier that was difficult to stab through and with the extra strength of this Tempest the speed difference was far smaller then usual. Aiz also had lots of practice sparing with Finn who was arguably the most skilled spear wielder in the world. The battle was intense with both competitors knowing this would be a fight to the death.

"I thought her wind was green..." Ottar says confused

"It usually is. I only know of one time it was black like that. Mikoto told me it was that way when she killed Phryne to save me. I think it means she is very angry."

Ottar just gave a small "hmm" and continued to observe the battle.

Allen attacks to the left. Blocked. Allen attacks to the right. Blocked. Allen fakes high and attacks low blocked. Aiz in the battle is holding her own but, not making much progress. She is able to consistently defend against the attacks with how much her wind slows them but is struggling to counterattack. The catman is quick so, even after a blocked attack he is quickly able to get his weapon back to keep Aiz from getting in striking range. That was when Aiz got an idea. Allen attacks again but instead of a normal block, she strikes down on the pole and moves out of the way. This causes a small dent. Allen strikes again, same modified block in the exact same spot making the dent larger. Allen goes for a third attack, dodged strikes the weapon in the same spot and it breaks. Aiz's sword is unbreakable but Allen's spear was not. Allen pulls out his backup knife he carries but, it is not enough. He blocks a couple strikes but, he is no match for the best swordswoman in all of Orario with a disadvantage like this and he gets his head chopped off. Aiz is still in a rage and pulls her sword back to keep hacking at his dead body but, she feels a hand on her arm and her black wind is replaced with a blindly bright white one. Ottar had let Bell go the second Allen's spear broke.

"Thank you for saving me again Aiz." She hears Bell's voice and her mind clears. She almost calls for her Tempest to turn off but then she sees Ottar.

"He doesn't want to fight." Bell says again calming the girl who finally calls her Tempest off.

"What do you want Ottar?" Aiz ask defensively

"Just to talk, let's go find a safe spot by the wall."

They walk to a wall and cut it with their weapons so no monsters should interrupt their talk. Then Ottar begins

"Bell I don't think you killed Freya. My goddess said your soul is entirely clear, not the kind of soul that would murder a goddess in cold blood but, every single death recently can be traced back to you. Your supporter, your goddess, Phryne and Freya all have obvious connections to you so, I believe it is somebody close to you. I would like you to tell me about everything that has happened recently."

Aiz was freaking out but luckily she had trained herself to hide her emotions for years behind that doll exterior so, she looked entirely normal.

Bell recounts everything that had happened over the last few months, from his trip down with Lily to current day from his perspective. This left Ottar totally in the dark on what happened to Hestia as, Bell was in the dungeon and was clueless. He did mention Aiz being with him when Lily died, when Phryne died and her being at the cafe the night Syr/Freya had died and this peaks Ottar's interest but he doesn't say anything. He simply says

"Thank you." And he walks away.

Bell tries to ask what familia he joined and where he had been before Ottar leaves but, Ottar simply ignores him and keeps walking before collecting the body of his fallen comrade and continuing his walk like nothing had happened.

A/N 2

I couldn't remember if Bell saw her black wind in the last SO novel so, if he did then sorry that was incorrect. Also, this chapter was kinda different from the usual but, last chapter demanded follow up with Freya's people and this was the best I could think of. Sorry I also suck at writing fight scenes so, that was probably a bit of a disappointment. I have been told before that my fight scenes always are so, sorry about that.

I usually don't respond to reviews but, a guest left a really lengthy one and I just wanted to respond. It seems that your review wasn't even directed me but, just your frustration with life. If you want different ships written then write them. You don't got to get all depressed about it and ask for my angry Yandere Aiz to murder you. Just chill my guy. You are fine. It isn't something to get so down about.
