"So, Mei's starting preschool in the morning, how're you feeling about that, along with Mei." Maria heard Maddie asking her.
"Yep she is and she's nervous, despite being brave like Shadow which surprises me." Maria told her as they drank coffee.
It was a few days after Maria and Shadow had given Mei her toddler-bed which she was getting used to, but right now, she was at Tom and Maddie's house with Maria while Shadow was doing things that Mei couldn't join him despite growing her wings but right now, said cub was playing with blocks oblivious to what the adults were talking about feeling nervous about starting preschool, including the other kids which made her nervous to the point where her wings came out, hovering making Maria sighing sensing her and Shadow's cub was nervous getting her to take a deep-breath seeing her land on her purple-sneakered feet retracting her wings. "I feel better now, thanks." Mei told her.
"Thaat's good and daddy's probably having his adventures, which he'll tell you about when he gets back." Maria said to her.
Mei was feeling better about things knowing that Sonic and Tails were at school right now, making Tom and Maddie nodding and reassured her that preschool would be fun and not scary at all, which relieved the female-cub deciding to ask her dad about this when he got back from Gotham which Tom, Maddie especially Sonic knew about Shadow doing things in Gotham.
After a bit, they were leaving Tom and Maddie's house walking the few blocks back to their house, despite Mei wanting to fly back only at home, Maria was making Mei lunch, then settling her down for her nap, telling her a story kissing her furry head before leaving her room, hoping Shadow would be back soon.
"Hey Mei-Mei, you had a good nap, and you were hanging out with Aunt Maddie along with mommy." Mei heard Shadow ask her.
It was mid-afternoon and Shadow had returned while Mei was having her nap, so didn't want to ruin that which Maria got, telling him what she and Mei had been up to this morning while they were having lunch knowing Mei was anxious about pre-school so wanted to have time with her but now she was done with her nap, they were having some daddy-daughter time. plus unlike Maria, she wasn't worried about him being in Gotham, because he kicked bad guy butt like Uncle Sonic making him smile. "I'm happy you were keeping mom calm while I was in Gotham." Shadow told her.
"Well you're a superhero that kicks bad guy butt like uncle Sonic." Mei told him.
"Atta girl, plus preschool's more fun than scary which you'll see in the morning." he told her.
