What had started like an ordinary day was quickly becoming something else. In a secluded part of space, the crew of the united animals frigate, the Righteous Indignation are, as always, up to their furry little necks in trouble.
Once again, Captain Bucky O'Hare and his crew are on the run from toad forces, as two Double Bubbles are chasing after them.
The Double Bubble is the main storm ship of the Toad Empire, its name comes from the two bubble shaped cockpit domes on each side of the ship. It is designed to hold two passengers, with the pilot and gunner sitting side by side. Storm Toads usually serving as the main operators of these ships.
Now, two of these ships where firring at the backside of the frigate, trying to put an end to them once and for all. On the inside of the ship, Bucky and Jenny are desperately trying to shake the pursuing amphibians off.
"Some things never change, huh Jenny?" Bucky said to his First Mate, an exasperated look on his face.
"Bucky to engine room!" Bucky called out from the coms, alerting the others.
"Willy, as good as your new shields are, maybe we should save testing them for later!" His voice was heard through the coms in the engine room.
"Seriously! How do they keep getting behind us? We have a "kick me" sign anywhere I don't know about?" he asks jokingly to Jenny once again.
"Maybe it's just as Dead-eye says, Bucky." Jenny begins to say.
"Arrr! That's just how the toads show affection, cap!" Dead-eye finishes, grinning in his gunner's deck, shooting madly at the toads.
"Let's turn the ol' girl around and show em' what the Righteous can do NOW!" he calls out to the captain.
"Been itchin' to try out me new quad-maser turret!" he finishes with glee.
"Maybe next time, Dead-eye! Blinky, do sensors pick up any possible reinforcements?" Bucky asks his trusty android.
In the engineering deck, Willy, Blinky and Bruiser where bracing for impact as the ship rocks again.
"Aaah!" Willy cried as he nearly fell, luckily Bruiser was there to catch him.
"Careful, lil' buddy!" he tells his human friend as he picks him back up.
"Whew, thanks bruiser. Upgrades or not, those toads are playing rough!" Willy exclaims with certainty.
Suddenly Blinky begins to cry out!
"Oh, Calamity and Woe! AFC Blinky reports result from linkup with ship's sensor array! Retreat most recommended as sensors indicate approach of toad Battle Cruiser!" the android exclaims with fear!
"A Battle Kruiser? Hmm… something about that just doesn't add up?" Bucky pondered out loud, the wheels on his head beginning to spin.
Thinking fast, he reached for the coms and said, "Willy, Bruiser, divert extra power to the shields and masers!"
"Are you serious Bucky? asked a confused Jenny.
"Toad Kruisers are great slow buckets of overkill. Short range, look where we are." Bucky answers her, drawing her attention to the sensors map.
"Corner of no and where! Nothing out here but a mess of floating rock. Not worth dragging hardware of that size out here for...
Unless they're trying to hide something in this asteroid belt." He finishes as he struggles to swerve the ship out of range.
"But Bucky, taking on a Kruiser? That too much!" Jenny asks back, concern present on her face.
"They're designed for orbital bombardment Jenny, not ship to ship combat." Bucky answers confidently.
"With Willy's new upgrades, we should be able to at least get close enough to see what they're up to." He says as he jumps from his sit, making his way to the lower decks.
"You just want to try out the new aft disrupter." Jenny says with a knowing tone, she knew her captain likes to play with the new toys.
"And you didn't even need to use any witchcraft to figure that out." Bucky says with a wink, not even denying what she said.
In response, Jenny uses her powers to make his trip downstairs shorter, by making him fall down the ladder.
"OW! Hey!" Bucky cries out when he lands.
"Arr! That's what I like to hear, Bucky me boy! Finally, takin' the fight to the toadies!" Dead-eye Duck cries out in excitement, the trigger-happy ex pirate itching for a fight!
"Well, I wouldn't want you getting rusty, Dead-eye!" Bucky answers with a smirk, readying his googles for action.
"After all, we've got a job to do!" he says as he joins his old friend at the guns.
"LET'S CROAK US SOME TOADS!
