"I don't understand how you're finding this difficult."
Marinette was on her balcony with Tikki thinking about Adrien when Tikki had spoken.
"It's not as easy as you think, Tikki. I want to invite him to the movies, and I'm not supposed to mess it up."
"But have you at least tried," Tikki asked.
"You and I know how that conversation would go," said Marinette.
Tikki then imitated Marinette, "'Hey Adrien, would you like to gah— wuh, glah.'"
"Yeah, that's kind of accurate," Marinette nodded and looked at the cloud, imagining an image of Adrien. "I can't help it. Every time we talk in person, I get all clammy, and I feel like fainting."
"So… basically, the only way you could have a normal conversation with him is if you both are transformed," Tikki summarized.
"Pretty much."
"There is a very simple solution, Marinette; it's called a cell phone," said Tikki.
"Yeah, but I'll need someone around for support," said Marinette before phoning Alya.
Scene: The Place des Vosges.
A huge crowd had gathered for the unveiling of the new statue honoring the M-Team.
Facing the crowd were Mayor Bourgeois and the sculptor Théo, both of whom were standing behind the covered statue.
"I'm sure you've outdone yourself, Théo," said Mayor Bourgeois, patting him on the shoulder.
"It was my honor," said Théo and then pulled out a photograph of Ladybug with a lollipop stick in his mouth. "And I can't wait to meet Ladybug; I hope she'll autograph the photo I used as the inspiration for the statue."
"Oh, it's nearly time," said Mayor Bourgeois looking at his watch. "The M-Team should already be here by now."
Scene: Marinette's room
At the same time, Marinette was with Alya, who was jotting down a script.
"Look, we all know improv's not your bag, so just stick to this script," said Alya handing her the script.
"But all the teachers say I don't sound natural when I read," Marinette pointed out.
"Then memorize it," said Alya tapping her on her forehead. "It's pretty simple. You can do this. Just don't improvise. Got it?"
Alya then handed Marinette her phone, which was ready to call Adrian. She looked at the phone and then at the script and immediately panicked.
"Forget it! This is never gonna work!" said Marinette.
Alya then tapped on the dial button. "Too late. It's dialing."
Marinette gasped in horror as Alya hid behind Marinette's chaise. Marinette looks back at the phone, not sure what to do.
"Hey, this is Adrien's voicemail," said a recording of Adrien's voice. "Leave a message."
"It's gone to voicemail!" Marinette panicked.
"Leave a message! Don't improv!" said Alya strictly.
Marinette gulped and then placed the phone against her ear. "Uhh, hello. Uh, Adrien's voicemail, uh, this is Marinette, who, uh, has a message for you, of course, cause it's, uh, your phone, so, umm…" Marinette gave a small chuckle. "Callmeseeyoulater, bye!"
She then quickly tossed the phone over towards the chaise, and Alya just looked at her exasperated.
Marinette moaned upon looking at her. "What? What did you expect me to say? 'Hey, hot stuff, this is your alluring girlfriend, I'd ask you on a date to a movie, but I can't form one or two sentences without fumbling and it's why I'm doing this over this stupid phone.' Pretty ridiculous, right?"
"If you wish to hear your message again, press 1," said an automated voice from the phone. "If you wish to erase your message, press 2."
Marinette gasped, horrified.
"Hit 2! Hit 2!" Alya yelled.
Marinette quickly lunged for the phone and camped the phone, and gave a sigh of relief.
"Message saved. Goodbye," said the automated voice.
Marinette screamed in horror before collapsing upon the chaise.
"It's not as bad as you think," said Alya sitting down next to her
Marinette raised an eyebrow.
"Okay, it's bad. But you were gonna have to tell him some way or another."
"The voicemail recorded my whole conversation," Marinette reminded her.
"Big deal!"
"I called him 'hot stuff'," said Marinette, then sat up to look at her. "No one should be allowed to hear that message, Alya! If it happens, I'll die of shame!"
"Now why would you think that someone would snoop on his phone?" asked Alya incredulously.
"Anything can happen!"
"Okay, okay. I got an idea," said Alya gently. "If Adrien's phone went to voicemail, it means the dude's busy. Which also means you can get to it before he does. Hmm, I wonder where he'd be…"
Marinette then suddenly got up and pulled down a large copy of Adrien's schedule from the ceiling.
"Of course," said Marinette as she looked through the schedule. "He's got fencing club after school; that's why he didn't pick up. Even if we call Camilla, It would be the same. It ends in exactly twenty-two and a half minutes."
Alya blinked at her, somewhat perplexed and impressed at the same time. "You are seriously insane. You know that, right?"
Marinette merely giggled.
Scene: Collège Françoise Dupont.
Adrien took his fencing classes, and Plagg was eating some Camembert in his locker.
Suddenly Adrien's phone vibrated while he was sitting on it.
"Ahhhhh!" Plagg screamed.
"You have one new message," said the automated voice, and Plagg switched the phone off.
Back in the gym, Adrien was sparring against an opponent and managed to disarm them, defeating them.
"You're picking up fast," said Adrien, removing his mask, "Just remember that mobility is also involved if you prefer."
The opponent removed their mask to reveal Camilla, "So are you."
"We both learn from the best," said Adrien, "Gotta get a drink of water, you interested?"
"Sure."
Soon, the two of them made their way to their lockers to retrieve their bags. Adrien found Plagg snoring after eating every scrap of cheese.
"Plagg, you pig!" Adrian grumbled.
"You have one new message," said Plagg and then burped.
"Move, please, so I can check my voicemail," said Adrian as he reached for his phone.
"Shit!"
"What?" asked Adrien, turning to Camilla who had checked her phone.
"We're late!" she said, showing him the time.
"Then it's time to transform."
Scene: Dupain-Cheng House.
Marinette and Alya ran down the stairs as quickly as they could. Once outside, they saw Cat Noir and Gray Wolf jumping on buildings above them.
"Woo-hoo! Yeah-ha-ha! Ha! Hahaha!" Cat Noir cheered as they both landed in front of the statue, "Hey, everybody!"
"They're unveiling the M-Team's sculptures today! I totally spaced!" said Alya excitedly.
Marinette had completely forgotten about the unveiling. "Me too."
"Uh, you never mentioned going to the unveiling before," Alya frowned.
"I'm not, I mean, I am! Uh, I mean, I forgot?" said Marinette quickly.
"Listen… about Adrien's cellphone, what if we go right after?" Alya offered.
"If we wait after the ceremony, Adrien's fencing training will be over, and he'll have his phone back by then," Marinette pointed out.
"Shoot," Alya cursed. "I gotta cover this event for the Ladyblog…" She then placed her hands on Marinette's shoulders and lifted her apologetically. "I'm sorry, Marinette!"
"Don't sweat it. I can manage," Marinette assured her, removing her hands. "I think!"
"You sure?"
"Yes, yes. I'm sure."
"Cool. Good luck, and stay out of trouble," said Alya dashing towards the park. "And don't improv!"
Marinette then started to dash towards the school before stopping at the crossroads.
"Isn't Ladybug supposed to be at the unveiling?" Tikki asked.
"Yes, but Marinette needs to be at the school first," said Marinette.
"But it is a ceremony in your honour."
"And it's my honour that's at stake right now," said Marinette and quickly crossed the road while bringing out her phone, "I know someone who can help. That way, I'll be done in five minutes. We can be at the ceremony in no time!"
Scene: The Place des Vosges.
The ceremony was just about to begin, but Théo was concerned that Ladybug and Sky Falcon had yet to show up.
"Excuse me, Cat Noir… Gray Wolf, but half of your team are not here," he said to them as they waved at the crowd.
Gray Wolf also found it odd because it's not like her brother to miss out on something this big.
She then let made her way to the Mayor.
"Excuse me, Mr. Mayor," she said, gaining his attention, "I'm sure you've noticed Ladybug and Sky Falcon haven't shown up yet, right? It can mean that they have business to attend to briefly but they'll be here soon and then we'll commence."
"Are you sure?" asked Mayor Bourgeois, "The ceremony needs to commence, It might bring them here faster."
"No, that would be rude. If those two are together, then they'll be here in no time," said Gray Wolf, "Or do you seriously doubt their capabilities?"
"Uh no, no I don't."
"Then you have no reason to."
The Mayor sighed before speaking up, "If that's the case, then what would the ceremony be without all of the heroes here. So we'll have to wait."
"Thanks."
During the time that they were talking, Cat Noir was talking to Theo.
"Don't worry. I'm sure they'll be here any minute," Cat Noir assured him. "I can handle this situation for now. I'm the one in charge anyway, you know."
Gray Wolf cleared her throat loudly as she went to him with a glare, "I'm sorry, but under whose authority were you put in charge, hmm?"
"Mine obviously."
Gray Wolf chuckled, "Don't deceive yourself," she turned to Theo, "And don't worry yourself. You'll see all of us as a team together."
"It's just that I wanted to ask Ladybug to autograph this photo," said Théo looking at the photo. "She's amazing. She's so brave and smart, the way she always saves everyone…"
Théo was so busy looking at the photo that he failed to notice Cat Noir glaring.
Scene: Collège Françoise Dupont.
At that same time Marinette had just reached Collège Françoise Dupont, and fencing class was still going on. She snuck in without anyone noticing and entered the locker room.
"…I'm there!" said Marinette, and then she laid eyes on a number of lockers in the locker room.
"What're we looking for?"
Marinette jumped in surprise at seeing Sky Falcon just next to her.
"Don't do that!"
"It'd better be a good reason for getting me sidetracked just for you to 'get something classified, no questions'," frowned Sky Falcon, making air quotes with the last part.
"Okay, It's Adrien's phone. He left it in his locker, but I don't know-"
"Found it," interrupted Sky Falcon, making a beeline towards the locker with Marinette following close behind.
As he approached it, he was about to tear the locker door off its hinges when Tikki flew in front of him and stopped him from doing so. She then phased through the locker and opened it from the inside. "Ta-dah!"
Sky Falcon shook his head, "As much as I'd love to ask, We need to make it in time, You owe me a gist for later."
"But I need to-" she was cut off by her teammate who was giving her a pointed look, "Okay, okay. Fine, let's go. Tikki! Spots on!"
Scene: The Place des Vosges.
At the ceremony, Mayor Bourgeois was starting to lose patience.
"It seems we have waited long enough."
"Please, just one minute more, Mayor Bourgeois, she's going to come; I can feel it…" Théo pleaded.
It was then that a civilian noticed something.
"Look, up in the sky! It's a bird!"
"It's a plane!"
"It's them!!"
Indeed, the two remaining heroes were seen in the sky and not long after, Ladybug landed next to Cat Noir followed by Sky Falcon who executed a superhero landing.
"You're such a poser," scoffed Gray Wolf.
"You're saying that because you're jealous. Admit it."
"Yeah right."
"So, do I need to ask what took you guys so long?" asked Cat Noir
Ladybug stiffened, "Ah… uhh… you see, we had to…"
"Rescue a nerd that was stuck in a tree," cut in Sky Falcon, "Poor guy was scared of heights."
Gray Wolf looked at her brother suspiciously. Somehow, she got the feeling that there was more than what he was letting on. She decided to question him later.
"It's only proper for Paris to pay homage to those to protect us from evil," said Mayor Bourgeois and unveiled the statue, "The M-Team: Ladybug, Cat Noir, Sky Falcon and Gray Wolf."
The entire crowd cheered and began taking photos as the M-Team waved. Theo sighed wistfully at Ladybug, which didn't go unnoticed by Cat Noir.
Timeskip.
The ceremony had ended and everyone was leaving… well… most of them if you exclude a very sizable amount of girls crowded together over something - or someone.
Anyways, as Ladybug was shaking hands with Mayor Bourgeois, Cat Noir and Gray Wolf made their way to Theo.
"These statues are amazing," said Cat Noir leaning on Théo's shoulder. "One thing's slightly off, though—I'm actually taller than Ladybug."
"And I'm also taller than you, kitty," clarified Gray Wolf who moved her flat hand from the top of her head to hover a few inches above Cat Noir's, "But you don't hear me complaining about it right now, do you?"
"Ummm excuse me."
Gray Wolf felt a tap on her shoulder. She then turned around only to face a teenage girl who looked to be around her age and a bit shorter, she has a long auburn hair, green eyes, a few freckles and wears a white buttoned shirt and blue tie beneath a crimson sweater, navy blue skirt, black leggings and pink shoes.
She was holding a notepad close to her as she asked nervously, sly, "Do you know where Sky Falcon is?"
Gray Wolf turned to the crowd of girls as mentioned earlier as she clicked her tongue, "Yeah, pretty much but you might have to wait a long time for your turn- or maybe next time."
"Okay, but I was wondering if you can put in a good word with him for me," she asked meekly, "I do have a lot of questions to ask him."
"Are you sure that's just the reason," asked Gray Wolf with a raised eyebrow.
She then broke into an enthusiastic explanation, "Okay, I just wanted to express my adoration for him. His charming smile, his wings, the way he soars in the wind… I'm sure if we had a little time to get to know each other, we might discover just how much we have in common. Our devotion to the things we love."
Oh boy.
Now this one does have a crush on him.
But seriously, What can she possibly say to her?
If there was one thing she knows about her twin, It's that he prefers to date people only as his civilian self.
Or at least that was what he told her.
And the girl would be crushed if her crush points it out.
"I don't know about that one," said Gray Wolf, rubbing the back of her head.
"W- why's that?" she asked, eyes widening slightly.
"You see, he's –"
At that moment, she was cut off by the ringing of her collapsed bow which she brought out from behind her to answer the call, "Yeah?"
"Oh hey, Gray Wolf!"
She immediately knew who was speaking and at this point, she barely held back a smug grin that was forming on her face, "Hey honey. How's it going in there?"
"Very funny. I kinda need a little help here. I can't feel my legs."
"Nah, I'll wait. You do seem to be enjoying yourself."
"Come on please!"
"Well, you did want all the attention, So ask and ye shall receive."
"I really love you, you know that," said Sky Falcon in a sarcastic tone.
"Awww, I love you too," sassed Gray Wolf in a sweet tone.
She could practically hear a growl from the other end.
"FYI, I'm not gonna remain right here forever, right? 'cos we all have other things to do," reminded Sky Falcon.
"Alright fine. But only because there's someone that wants to–"
She turned around only to find the fangirl nowhere to be seen, even when she was looking around.
"Someone that wants to what?"
"Never mind," replied Gray Wolf before hanging up. She then walked towards the crowd to retrieve her brother in distress.
Scene: Hawk Moth's lair
Hawk Moth was standing casually while searching far and wide for his next victim when suddenly, he picked up a very strong emotion so particular that it caused him to chuckle.
"What is this I sense? A broken hearted soul disappointed by the love for her idol taken away from her by the very person she envies," he said and transformed a butterfly into an akuma and then released it. "Fly away, my little akuma, and evilize her."
Scene: The Streets.
Upset, hurt, depressed, crestfallen, dejected, downcast, e.t.c …
Other synonyms of the very emotion she felt that moment as she walked along the streets.
Months ago, during an akuma incident, she was rescued by Sky Falcon, and it was that moment she developed a small crush on him.
As nerdy as she was, she geeked out about him a lot, earning her ridicule from her classmates
Every time, she was compared. Every time, other girls talked her down, telling her how her idol will never date the likes of her.
She wanted to prove them wrong so badly, she wanted to.
When the day of the ceremony came, she didn't waste time to be there.
Even though she was punctual, she was still beaten to it when it came to meeting him.
As if that wasn't enough, the actual crack that broke the dam was the conversation between him and Gray Wolf that she witnessed.
Tears were already forming as she tried wiping them off.
She then went into the alleyway where she slid down a wall, hugging her knees to her chest as she sobbed softly.
In her point of view, it wasn't fair. She didn't know why but she felt jealous.
She was so occupied that she failed to notice an akuma flying close by and infecting her bracelet.
"Hello, Mockingbird. I am Hawk Moth," said Hawk Moth, "The hypocrites have doubted you several times because of your current state. You now have the power to eradicate anyone that stands in the way between you and your true love. Does that sound good to you?"
"I like the sound of that," she smiled as her transformation took place.
Scene: Adrien's room.
Adrien was looking for his back for his phone.
"Ugh, where is it?" he said and looked at Plagg angrily.
"What are you looking at me for?" Plagg asked. "I didn't eat it. I swear!"
Adrian then grabbed the house phone so that he could call his cellphone.
Scene: Marinette's room
"How do you listen to messages on this—" Then the phone began to ring. "Home? It's Adrien! He's looking for his phone!" She then quickly dropped the phone and backed away from it as if it was going to explode. "What if he tracks it? He'll figure out I stole it, then his dad'll have me arrested for grand theft, I'll spend the rest of my life in jail, and worse, I'll never get to go to the movies with Adrien!"
She then collapsed on her bed.
"Oh, Marinette. You really need to get your priorities in order," said Tikki.
"I know," Marinette groaned. "Some days, it feels impossible to balance being Marinette and being Ladybug."
Scene: Adrien's room
Adrian attempted to call his phone but only ended up was a voicemail.
"Hey, this is Adrien's voicemail," said his voicemail. "Leave a message."
"Ugh, it must still be at the gym," said Adrian, and then he grabbed Plagg, who was in the middle of eating a piece of Camembert, and left.
Scene: The Louvre.
Civilians were all going about their own business in the museum when suddenly, a wall was blown apart by an explosion that sent debris flying in all directions, causing everyone to panic and run for cover in fright. What people didn't expect was Gray Wolf stepping inside with another arrow nocked as she chuckled darkly.
"Will you all look at that?" she said nonchalantly as she took notice of security approaching her, "Sorry, not sorry."
"I gotta get this on camera!" said a civilian taking a video of her as she pulled back her bow and fired.
Scene: Jaiye Manor.
The twins and the kwamis were currently in the living room when they watched the news report.
"And in some astonishing news, there's been a spectacular attack on the Louvre." That got their attention as they listened intently, "Amateur video showed without a shadow of a doubt that the assailant is none other than the famous member of the M-Team, Gray Wolf."
The false Gray Wolf was seen on the roof as she let out a howl and took off.
Toby and Breeze slowly turned to look at a stunned Camilla and Luupa who noticed it.
"Hey, Don't give me that look!" scolded Camilla, "We all know that it's not me!"
"I know," said Toby.
"Yeah, you've been with us for hours so it's definitely someone else," said Breeze.
"Let's just get to the bottom of this," said Luupa as the twins then got up.
"Breeze! Take Flight!"
"Luupa! It's Full Moon!"
They both transformed into Sky Falcon and Gray Wolf respectively.
Scene: Marinette's room.
Marinette was unaware of the offence going out as she focused more on Adrien's phone. She was now wearing a pair of goggles and had baking mittens over her hands. She then began operating on Adrien's phone with a Q-tip.
"Ugh, of course, Adrien would own one of these super-expensive high-tech smartphones," Marinette moaned. "I can't even figure out how to work this thing."
"Maybe it would help if you took off those silly mittens," Tikki suggested.
"And risk leaving fingerprints? No way."
Then her phone rang, and she brought it up towards her face. She then used her nose to answer the call and saw that it was Alya.
"Problem fixed?" Alya asked.
"Almost. I haven't erased the message yet, but I'm working on it as we speak," said Marinette.
"No way. You palmed his phone?" said Alya shocked.
"Yes? No? Uhh… I mean, I was planning to give it back," said Marinette awkwardly. "Actually, where are you? I can use some help."
"No can do," said Alya, who was hanging outside the Louvre. "I'm waiting for additional deets at the Louvre on the Gray Wolf attack."
"What? Gray Wolf was attacked? When?" Marinette stared.
"No, she attacked. Didn't you hear? Gray Wolf stormed the museum and bombed the place. Ladybug and the M-Team are gonna turn up for sure, and I do not wanna miss this. Just chill, and I'll be over later."
"Kay," said Marinette ending the call with her nose and frowned at Tikki. "Something's definitely not right here."
She then took off the goggles and oven mitts. "Time to transform! Tikki! Spots on! Ha!"
She then began to transform into Ladybug.
Scene: Louvre.
Sky Falcon had dropped Gray Wolf as he landed and upon seeing the latter, the police immediately prepared themselves.
"Whoa! Dudes, calm down," said Sky Falcon calmly, "She's innocent. She's the real deal. That other wolf's an impostor."
Officer Roger stepped forward and ordered his men to stop.
"I say we split up. We'll cover more grounds that way," suggested Gray Wolf.
"Are you sure?"
"The facsimile couldn't have gone far. Just be on the lookout."
After a second, he exhaled, "Sure."
With that, Sky Falcon once again activated his wings and took off.
"How many casualties do we have?" said Gray Wolf as she approached him.
"None thankfully."
"I'll check it out," said Gray as she entered the museum.
Once inside, she began looking for any kind of clue among the mess of overturned, corroded and destroyed artifacts.
She took note of the arrows as they were identical to the ones in her quiver.
However, Officer Roger then pressed down on the button, trapping Gray Wolf in the hallway.
"Oh for the love of – Seriously?!" she exclaimed, annoyed.
Officer Roger ignored his pleas and pulled out his walkie-talkie, "The wolf is In it's cage. I repeat, the wolf is in its cage."
At this point, Ladybug arrived outside and found Sky Falcon perched on the roof and both were soon joined by Cat Noir.
"I take it you got the news," assumed Sky.
"You mean about the big bad wolf? Pawsitive," said Cat Noir.
"Do you honestly think she was the one?" Ladybug asked.
"Lady B, this is my sister we're talking about."
"Yeah, our Gray Wolf's way slicker than the other one," agreed Cat Noir.
Ladybug and Cat Noir then jumped down and approached Mayor Bourgeois, who was standing there alongside the police.
"Mr. Mayor, this is ridiculous. I'm sure there's a simple explanation." said Ladybug.
"Wolf's in the slammer, Ladybug," said Officer Roger approaching them.
Ladybug then immediately marched up towards the entrance. "Don't think you're gonna keep her in there—"
Officer Roger quickly stopped her. "Now, now. Leave it to the experts, Ladybug. We've got it under control."
Gray Wolf had already predicted something like this would happen so it wasn't really a surprise.
She brought out her weapon which unfolded into a bo staff and seconds later, a long naginata blade slid out from one end.
And with two clean and precise swipes while twirling her spear, the bars fell off their positions in a resounding clatter. Wincing at the noise, she began making her way towards the exit as the blade slid back into her staff, only to be confronted by a number of police officers.
"Thank you so much for the hospitality. Really, I appreciate it," said Gray Wolf with dry sarcasm as she bent her staff into its bow form, "So if I can't get the message through your coconut heads that you've got the wrong wolf, then we're gonna do this the old fashioned way."
She then attacked the police officers, knocking them back.
"Gray Wolf's getting away!" said an officer frantically on Rogers's walkie-talkie.
"We need backup AS–AAAAAIIIEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!" From the walkie-talkie, you can hear screams coming from the other end.
Officer Roger, Ladybug and Cat Noir rushed inside and found all the police officers flat on the ground, some were in awkward positions, others had arrows sticking out of various areas and a few were twitching.
"Well, if she's so innocent, then why is she running away?" Roger asked.
"Well, if you were wrongly imprisoned, wouldn't you run?" Ladybug questioned.
"But seriously, you really need to stop underestimating us," said Cat Noir as he took in the scene.
Meanwhile, Gray Wolf had managed to get outside and jumped onto the nearest building. Once she found a hiding place, she tapped on her earpiece, "Sky, do you copy?"
"Loud and clear. I take it that it didn't go well," said Sky.
"You think?" she snarked.
"Okay, My advice is to remain detransformed and lay low until we have leads, are we clear?"
"Copy that," said Gray Wolf when a police helicopter arrived and spotted her.
"Give yourself up, Gray Wolf!" a policeman yelled over a microphone.
"Son of a betamax!" she cursed as she ran away just as Ladybug and Cat Noir exited the Louvre.
Officer Roger then approached Ladybug and Sprite. "Aren't you gonna go after him?"
"Uhh, we'll leave it to the experts," said Ladybug.
"After all, you guys got it under control," said Cat Noir as the duo leapt away.
Gray Wolf dashed towards the subway and the police cars and got jammed.
"Come on, let's get her!" said a policeman as they entered the subway.
Unbeknownst to them, Gray Wolf had turned back into Camilla and was now exiting the subway on the other side of the street whistling. She then made his way to the nearest alleyway and hid behind it.
"If you want my opinion, I'd say the culprit was akumatized," said Luupa.
"Thank you for summing that up," said Camilla, "I mean who on earth would have a vendetta against me? I didn't do anything."
"Someone who would taint your reputation is definitely someone who's jealous of you. Are you seeing someone in secret? Cami?"
During the time the Arctic wolf kwami was talking, Camilla's eyes landed on a notebook. What was interesting was that she had seen it somewhere before. She picked it up and opened a page where she saw the first page which read:
'Property of Corinne St. James.'
She then flipped a few pages, looking further inside.
"Oh now you're ignoring me just for a notebook with…" Luupa then saw what she was looking at, "drawings of Sky Falcon? I don't see what's so special considering he's your brother."
It was then that realization dawned on Camilla. She remembered who the notebook belongs to.
"Oh no."
"Oh no? What does 'Oh no' mean?" asked Luupa.
"I think I know the akumatized victim is," said Camilla who groaned, "She must have assumed both of us were dating. She's just doing this out of jealousy. I have to find her."
"Whoa, whoa, hold it right there. Sky said–"
"Sky said and I quote," interrupted Camilla, "'Remain detransformed and lay low until we have leads.' This is the lead we have now."
"And how do you try to reason with her without her trying to kill you."
"We do what we always do."
Scene: Outside Warehouse.
Sky Falcon was seen on a roof observing a warehouse because that was where he saw who looked like Gray Wolf enter the building a minute ago.
"Gotcha."
He had a gut feeling that it was the akumatized villain the moment he spotted her vaulting over buildings seconds after he saw his twin pursued by the police.
He activated his tracking beacon in order to notify the M-Team about his current location before taking a headstart, entering the warehouse through the skylight.
Just as he touched down, he switched his goggles to infrared vision.
"Hello," he said slowly and calmly while looking around as the place was partially dark, "I know you're hiding here and I know you're not Gray Wolf, no pretending. So please come out and show yourself so we can talk."
All he met was silence as he was still looking around.
…
…
…
Until he was hit by an arrow on his wingpack that formed a mechanism that clamped to the sides.
"What–"
Not long after, another arrow was sailing towards him which he blocked with his right forearm but the arrow tip formed a cuff around his wrist. And then another arrow with the same tip did the same with the left wrist and then the next thing you know after seeing they were connected by cables, his arms were pulled to the sides diagonally upwards in an outstretched manner, trapping him.
When he tried to activate his wings, the result was an electric shock that ran through his body momentarily, forcing him to scream in agony.
"Owwww," he wheezed out as the pain subsided.
He then heard a sound of tongue clicking above followed by a voice that sounded just like his sister.
"You shouldn't have done that."
That really creeped him out.
Thanks to the infrared vision, he could spot the figure in the rafters as she was speaking.
"The arrows are rigged so try to spread your wings and you'll be tickled. But please don't."
As she jumped down to land on the floor, Sky Falcon turned off his infrared vision to get a better view of her.
Good thing he did because as she was walking, the physical features were changing into her true form.
When she stepped into the light with a seductive look, he could now see what she looked like.
Mockingbird was auburn haired with amber eyes under a gray bird like domino mask. She wore a gray bodysuit with blue accents on the sides of her legs. The shoulders were darker gray and pinned on them was a brown leather that held a black feathered cape. On both her arms were blue opera gloves with a multicolored bracelet on her right wrist, around her was a brown leather thigh harness belt and to finish the outfit, she wore blue knee length boots with white edges and soles.
"Hello, chère. We finally meet," she said in a different voice as she placed her hand on his cheek with the bracelet glowing, "Is it fate? Is it meant to be? Is it written in the stars that we are destined to fraternize? I'd like to think so."
Sky Falcon forced a very nervous chuckle, "Yeah, but don't you think you're being a tad bit hasty?"
Mockingbird scoffs, "You can never be too hasty with true love."
She pulled away as she circled him, "I've waited a long time for this moment, long enough to tell you I love you way more than all those who stand before you."
"But that still doesn't explain why you have beef with Gray Wolf," said Sky, "I get that you're doing this out of love for me but why her?"
"I kinda figured it out," she said sweetly before she changed into Gray Wolf with her expression being serious, "So tell me, what is Gray Wolf to you?"
'She's my twin sister and we look out for each other,' he thought.
He would have said that, but neither of them wanted that fact to be public knowledge so as not to risk anyone connecting the dots.
"She's a teammate and we've been good friends since childhood," he answered.
Mockingwolf leaned forward, "Are you sure it's more than that?"
That was when the Peregrine Falcon themed hero knew where this was going.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, wait. You honestly think Gray and I are a thing?"
"Are you?"
"No!" He exclaimed, scandalized.
"Mockingbird, are you forgetting something?" Hawk Moth said telepathically, "Suspend this small talk and get me Ladybug and Cat Miraculous."
Mockingwolf groaned in annoyance, "Fine. I already have their M-Teammate hostage. Infiltration already is gonna be a piece of cake."
The light halo then disappeared as she shapeshifted back to her true form and turned to her prisoner, "Sorry this has to wait. As much as I'd love to make out with you," Her bracelet glowed
as she then changed into the lookalike of Sky Falcon, even sounding the same, "I'm afraid I have unfinished business."
With that, Mocking-Falcon spread out his wings as he took off through the window, leaving Sky alone.
Now all that was left for him was to find a way out of the current predicament he was in. It was then he heard the door open. Turning towards the source, he saw that stepping inside was Ladybug.
"That felt awkward for you, didn't it?" asked Ladybug while spinning her yo-yo.
"How much have you heard?"
"Enough," she shrugged, "I got notified about your beacon and tracked you here."
"What about Cat Noir?"
"He's babysitting Gray Wolf. Is there a way to get you out?"
"There is. These arrows are used to trap targets like this and they're unlocked with her bow. But what she doesn't know is that they can also be unlocked manually with my feathers. You know, in case of emergencies like this."
Ladybug bent down to retrieve the feathers from his boots.
"First, insert each feather in the cuffs," he instructed which she followed before stepping back, "Once done, it's gonna take a matter of time before –"
At that moment, they both snapped open, releasing his wrists, giving him the opportunity to spread out his wings, breaking the clamp holding it in the process.
"–we hit the road."
"And now we're even, aren't we?" said Ladybug.
"Yeah. after all, you did owe me one for helping you."
And with that, they made their way out of the warehouse.
Scene: Rooftops.
Gray Wolf was leaping across rooftops in search for Mockingbird.
"Gray."
She turned around only to see Sky Falcon land on the same roof. As they walked towards each other, he pulled her into a hug.
"Are you alright? I was so worried that something would happen to you."
She gave him the side eye. It was unusual of him because her brother only shows this side of affection to her once in a blue moon, only in life or death situations, this situation never being one of them.
So she decided to play along.
"Yeah, I'm fine," she said as they both pulled away, "I found out about the akumatized villain and she's someone who's jealous of us being together."
"I don't know what to say, but she needs to understand and just move on."
"I know," she sighed, "Do you remember the promise I made to you as soon as we've defeated Hawk Moth?"
"Yeah, I do," he said sweetly, "And It's gonna be great, you and I."
"I wish it would be, but there's one small problem."
"And what's that?"
"I never made a promise, Corinne."
This took him by surprise, "What?"
"You can stop pretending now. You may mimic his appearance but not his scent."
"Got that right," the shapeshifter turned to see Cat Noir behind him, "They say the nose doesn't lie."
Knowing his cover was blown, he dropped the facade and disguise and changed back to her original form.
"So that's what you look like," mused Cat Noir, "What kind of bird are you supposed to be?"
"It's Mockingbird, Cat Noir."
Gray Wolf tried to reason with her, "Look, what happened was just a misunderstanding."
"I know what I heard," Mockingbird said with a scowl, "You should really follow your own advice and not pretend."
"For real, Sky Falcon and I are not dating!"
"LIAR!!"
She shifted into Mocking-wolf and fired an arrow at Gray Wolf who failed to dodge and at that time the villain shot the arrow, she was shoved from behind by Cat Noir and it resulted in the three of them falling down the building unto the road where there were civilians that started evacuating the area.
As they got up, the two heroes quickly drew out their weapons and engaged the impostor in combat. Mocking-wolf leaped over their weapons and landed in a roll as she quickly shot an electric arrow at Cat Noir, stunning him as she swung her bow to trip the feline. She didn't waste time and engaged Gray Wolf as the two wolves clashed their staffs multiple times which ended in a stalemate where they caught each other's staffs in a tug of war.
Mocking-wolf went closer to headbutt Gray Wolf, causing her to stagger. She let go of one bow and continued her assault by knocking her to the ground with a spin kick and then drew out an arrow and shot at her torso with the tip forming prongs which pinned her to the ground.
As she drew out another arrow, she quickly dodged the surprise attack of Cat Noir who was flipped over her shoulder but landed on his feet literally as he went on the offensive. When Mocking-wolf had breathing space, she held one end of her staff and swung it at Cat Noir who braced himself.
Unexpectedly, the bow became flexible and wrapped itself around him in a vice like grip.
"Cataclysm!" Cat Noir yelled.
He was just about to touch the restraint when Mocking-wolf placed an arrow in his hand which disintegrated it and wasted his Cataclysm. She proceeded to push him down.
"Excellent," said Hawk Moth, pleased.
"I'm sorry it had to end this way, kitty," said Mocking-wolf as she bent down, "For you, it's nothing personal. So no hard feelings, right?"
She grabbed his wrist and just as she was about to take his ring, she suddenly felt a very familiar yo-yo wrap around her waist.
"GET OVER HERE!"
Immediately, she was pulled away from Cat Noir and was sent flying before tumbling along the road before rolling into a crouched position. As she looked up, she saw Ladybug land on the road along with Sky Falcon.
"You don't have to do this," said Sky Falcon.
"Yes I do," said Mockingbird who then shape shifted into a lookalike of Cat Noir, "And if I can't have you, then nobody will! Cataclysm!"
With his fist bubbling with destructive energy, Mocking-Noir charged towards Sky who flipped him over his shoulder and threw him towards Cat Noir who rolled out of the way and as he landed, the Cataclysm hand touched the restraint, disintegrating it and freeing Cat Noir, who then punched him in the face sending him crashing into a car.
"Nice one, guys," said Cat Noir.
"I for one would have reprimanded you for hitting a girl," said Gray Wolf after being freed by Ladybug, "But you punched the face of a guy."
Ladybug then turned to Cat Noir. "Where's his akuma?"
"Bracelet," replied the three of them.
"Let's make it snappy," said Cat Noir as he reached for his staff only to find that it was missing.
"Looking for this?" said Mocking-Noir, holding out his staff and then pulling out his own, "You won't last five minutes."
"But we will," said Sky Falcon, drawing out his sword, "Ready, Gray?"
"I was gonna say the same thing," replied Gray Wolf, spinning her staff.
"Let's do this!"
The shapeshifter and the twins charged towards each other and in the heated combat of two against one, shortsword and staff against dual wield batons, the copycat was able to hold his own against them.
"Let's wrap this up! Lucky Charm!" Ladybug yelled, tossing her yo-yo into the air. Soon appearing out of thin air was a red arrow similar to Gray Wolf's with black spots, "Why is it her arrow?"
The duel came to a stalemate with Mocking-Noir having to block both weapons from both sides.
"You're good. I'll give you that," complimented Gray Wolf.
"Hey! You don't need to rub it in!" said Cat Noir.
"Thanks," he replied before changing into Mocking-wolf, "But I'm better."
She immediately pushed them away and engaged Gray Wolf once again with the real wolf knocking Cat Noir's staff out of her hand before spartan kicking her a few feet away.
As she got back to her feet, she took a deep breath. Gray Wolf recognized it and instantly prepared her breath attack.
"Alpha's Howl!"
At the same time, they both unleashed their respective sonic attacks that clashed with each other and shattered windows in the vicinity. Sky Falcon who had already taken to the skies had identified the false Gray Wolf and swooped in to maintain altitude.
"Sky Dive!"
In a silver blur, he zipped over Gray Wolf and the soundwaves and grabbed hold of Mocking-wolf, flipped over her and used his momentum to perform a German suplex on the shapeshifter who at the last second changed into the appearance of her/his attacker. As the real Sky Falcon got up…
"Sky Dive!"
Mocking-Falcon activated his wings and charged Sky Falcon with high speed, grabbing him while spinning him before slamming him to the ground as he dragged him against the asphalt.
Fortunately he was clotheslined by Cat Noir's extended staff, causing him to release Sky as both birds tumbled into a tangled heap. As they got up, Ladybug quickly swung her yo-yo, grasping the arm of one of them.
"Hey, it's me!" he said.
"He's lying! I'm the real one!" said the other one.
"Gray, how do you put up with this guy?" asked Ladybug.
The lupine shook her head, "I don't know, LB. I honestly don't know."
"Can't you sniff him out?" said Cat Noir.
"I wish I could but his scent's all over the place and mixed up in those two."
"Show us your bracelets," said Ladybug looking at the two raptors.
The one she ensnared raised his arm showing his cuff bracelet which had started reducing, while the other bird showed his bracelet, but Ladybug looked closer to find another bracelet above that one which had the same color palette.
"Cat Noir, scratch attack!" said Ladybug, pulling Sky Falcon to safety.
"Gladly. I love a good catfight," said Cat Noir, meowing.
Cat Noir charged towards the shapeshifter who was ready to attack but at the last second, he vaulted over him and drew out his sword from his wingpack and just as he landed, he spun to attack only for his opponent to change into Mocking-Noir who blocked it with his staff. As they were dueling, Ladybug began looking around, and her eyes fell upon Gray Wolf's bow, the street lamp, her yo-yo and the arrow, giving her an idea.
"Gray, your bow!"
She tossed her weapon towards Ladybug who caught it. She attached her yo-yo to the arrow and nocked it.
Cat Noir was still battling against his copycat, who then immediately pounced upon him. However, Cat Noir leaned, and he landed on top of his feet just in time for Gray Wolf to give Ladybug a boost and toss her over the two cats beneath a street lamp.
As she was above them, she flipped upside down and released the arrow which hit the shapeshifter's ankle and a second later, the arrow tip formed a cuff around the ankle as Ladybug flipped back to land successfully.
Ladybug then pulled on her yo-yo, lifting Mocking-Noir up into the air. Sky Falcon jumped towards the villain and snatched the bracelet from his wrist and the moment he dropped back to the ground, he broke the akumatized object, releasing the akuma.
Ladybug quickly released Mocking-Noir who fell to the ground but was caught by Gray Wolf.
"No more evil-doing for you, little akuma. Time to de-evilize!" said Ladybug swinging her yo-yo around and caught the akuma. "Gotcha!" She then released the now purified butterflies. "Bye-bye, little butterfly. Miraculous Ladybug!"
She then tossed the arrow into the air,and the magical ladybugs began to fix all the damage done, including the museum.
"Timeout," said Sky Falcon, making the sign to Cat Noir, "Cat Noir, you're excused."
"Good call," said Cat Noir before running off followed by Ladybug.
"Ugh… what happened?" Corrine moaned only to process her predicament as she was in Gray Wolf's arms, "Gray Wolf?"
"Oh sorry," said the lupine as she set her down, "About what happened at the ceremony between Sky and I, it was a misunderstanding."
"She's right," said Sky Falcon, surprising her, "I do know about your feelings for me."
"Did I do anything that–"
"No, you didn't," he quickly said, "The truth is… I'm not ready for a relationship… yet. But that doesn't mean we can't be friends."
"You really mean it?"
"Yeah really."
It was then that Gray Wolf remembered something as she pulled out something from a side compartment in her quiver and held it out, "I believe this belongs to you."
It was Corinne's notebook.
"Yeah, it's my notebook," she said as she handed Gray her pen, "Ummm… can you guys please autograph it for me?"
"Of course," she smiled as she autographed a page before handing it to Sky for his turn, "I believe there are no hard feelings.
"Not at all. Thanks, guys," said Corinne as Sky had finished his signature and handed it to her.
"You're welcome. We'll see you around."
Scene: College.
Cat Noir soon returned back to school and turned back into Adrien. He then began searching the plays inside and out with his phone, but in the end, he gave up and returned the car.
"Didn't find it," he told his bodyguard.
Scene: Marinette's room.
Marinette was back in her bedroom with Alya and Camilla whom she called for help on the matter. After a while of filling her in on the situation and personally threatening her not to tell Adrien, together, they finally managed to hack the phone.
"If you wish to hear your message again, press 1. If you wish to erase your message, press 2," said the phone's automated voice. Marinette looked at her friends and nodded, and they nodded back. She then pressed two. "Your message has been erased."
"You know what? I'm gonna tell him I found his phone," said Marinette looking at Alya. "That'd be a good way to start up a conversation, wouldn't it? And I'll invite him to the movies."
"That's my girl," Alya smiled and they high-five one another.
Scene: College.
The next day of school, Adrien was talking with Nino and Toby about his missing phone.
"Maybe you dropped it somewhere," said Nino.
"Well, if I did, then whoever has it found it in the boys' locker room," said Adrian. "I was checking my voicemail in there during fencing practice."
"Maybe in the next fencing practice, you can ask them," suggested Toby.
"Do it now!" Alya whispered.
Marinette quickly put Adrian's phone in his bag, which promptly fell over.
"Huh?" Adrian frowned and noticed his phone on the floor. "What in the… I already looked in here a thousand times!
"You need some time off," Nino suggested as he leaned back. "Hey, I know; let's go to the movies tonight."
"Hey, dudes, mind if a few friends tag along?" Alya asked.
"Sure thing!"
Marinette looked at Adrien beaming and then jumped for joy.
Now that happened. I was seriously brainstorming on how to make this episode work. This is solely based off Copycat with a different twist.
