Oversurge, Azure Striker!
-

To say he moved like lightning would be a gross understatement.

One moment Masked Volt was staring down their mysterious foe with a grudge, the next blue light flashes through the room, followed by what Mytyl can only describe as something close to super speed for the Azure Striker is already on top of the first mech with one hand aimed at their foe's head as three blue after-images shine right behind him. Their target leans back to avoid the grab and throw Gv was going for and seeing an opportunity, moves their revolver for a point-blank shot, but the gun is swatted aside by a blue blade as the trigger is pulled at the last second, harming nobody.

That loud bang is enough to get the remaining mooks back in the game, and they promptly fire upon or as is more proper...try to fire at Masked Volt as the latter does a back flip off the first mech, summons a small gun mid-flip, and shoots three darts that promptly blast two soldiers with thunder while the third one hits a mech that immediately after suffers from a constant barrage of electricity pouring from the Flashfield that is now surrounding the Azure Striker while he's standing in a pose.

In the middle of the room, unmoving as if taunting his foes to do better than that. Which he isn't, it's just that taking such a pose helps him with regaining the energy he expended at a faster pace.

"Don't get cocky!" The Masked Man shouts to gain his attention as the shocked soldiers stand up after a while, looking as good as ever. "Can you see this? You haven't even remotely harmed anyone!"

"Lightning resistant equipment? Colour me surprised…" Masked Volt snarks back, but internally feels a bit restless. Taking these guys down shouldn't be trouble at all but the real problem lies in that he's not sure whether he can give enough energy to take them down without accidentally killing them. Which would traumatize a bunch of kids if it happened, something the media would lap up.

"Oh, you'll make a nice color...a good old red paste that is. Everyone fire!" Eager to obey, the soldiers aim their gun and unleash a barrage of energy while two Mantises jump in the air and try to crush Masked Volt into bits to no avail, for the lightning wielder's agility lets them evade all of it.

"So, where did you get these toys from anyway?" Masked Volt comments, keeping his position to the north as that's the only spot where no stray shots could possibly harm someone. The moment the men have to reload is the moment that he'll move on the offensive again, "Some black market?"

"As if I'd tell you anything!" the masked man says in anger, which hopefully makes them sloppy.

"I'd recommend you do, Sumeragi has no patience for the likes of you." Taunts again, then within less than a second shoots a special dart in the middle of the room that stops in midair, turns into a cube and shoots out a flurry of darts everywhere to tag all of his opponents at the same time.

"How funny it is then that they've forgiven you. What did you do to persuade them? Did you wag your tail like a dog to swear allegiance? Did you hunt down your own kind? You disgust me, Gv."

"Corvette." Masked Volt changes the subject as to something more useful, not caring about what a terrorist thinks of him. "Is there anything useful you can tell about me these mechs? A weakness?"

"A-ah, what? I mean of course I do. Ahem." The man takes out a pad in the background, something that's oddly allowed as all opponents are focused on GV. "From what I see here, the Mantis ser-"

"Corvette." his colder tone is interruption enough.

"They've got a core inside their bodies! Just fry them to bits to force it out and take it down!"

"Ah, of course!" Mechs aren't alive so he can go all out against them! Tempted to smack his own forehead, Masked Volt instead dodges more gunfire and missiles as he heads back to the center.

"Release Limiter all the way to 15% for 10 seconds." He commands as azure energy wraps around his body, a bolt of blue shreds from the sky and covers him in even more of it as his SP unleashes.

Flash of thunderstorms end the path of rebellion.
The resounding thunder roars proof of flowing blood
Its piercing lighting now the vanguard of all laws

VOLTAIC CHAINS!

Summoned by blue fire, all tagged foes find themselves immobilized by a spider web of metallic chains, before any can cut their way through or even react. A flash of light is their only warning as the chains pour out volts of azure energy through their bodies, enough to stun flesh for one side and enough to melt steel for the other. All the foot soldiers convulse on the ground with a death grip on their broken weapons while two of the Mantis troops spark out smoke, then bend to reveal a core.

"It worked!" Masked Volt temporarily slips out of their cold voice out of relief, then shakes his head as he immediately uses one of the mechs as a foothold before jumping in the air, tagging the both-

"Masked Volt watch out!" someone in the crowd cries out a moment too late, for a golden beam smashes Masked Volt straight into a wall, knocking the wind out of them as they fall to the ground.

"Holy subverted expectations." Masked Man taunts by saying a line straight out of an old cartoon as he jumps off the third Mantis who's busy recovering from the beam blast while the other two stand up and aim their weapons at the kneeling Azure Striker. "Looks like someone's gotten rusty, the old you would have shouted something like 'Astrasphere' and taken down every one of us in one shot."

He gets no answer, Masked Volt simply stays where he is with a cold glare behind their mask.

"Or perhaps are you holding out on little old me? I did hear you say 10% before.." The man continues talking and with a hand gesture tells the machines to hold onto their fire.

But his intuition is definitely on the spot, for the Glaive that Masked Volt wields only allows them to access 30% of their maximum power as long as it is active. A curse more shaped as a blessing in this occasion for the lightning the Azure striker wields flickers with an ominous ferocity...

"Hurry up and get up." Masked Man says with impatience, "It's time for the main course where I kick your ass in front of a crowd. So stop being coy and get up, I know you're not hurt that badly."

Masked Volt stands up, mumbles something the other can't hear and moves to the center, just a feet away from the boss as he re-summons his glaive and holds it in one hand with his gun in the other.

"Didn't hear what you just said, but that's ok." The man puts one foot straight in front of the other, straightens their back and tightens their grip on their revolver. "It's time for us to talk like men."

"Through combat?" Masked Volt guesses which makes the other guy laugh. "Bingo."

And so round 2 starts.

TODAY'S EPISODE:

Conflict Clash! Two Masked Man Fight! Sound The Gong!
Konfurikuto Gekitotsu! Futari No Kamen Otoko Faito! Saundo Za Gongu!

"For someone who loves to boast, you sure were no match at all." Gunvol-I mean Masked Volt comments while pointing his gun towards the kneeling figure. Sure the way their bullets swerved in unique patterns as they jumped and flipped about the arena was one cool trick to show off…

But tricks alone cannot defeat an Azure Striker.

"Please, I've barely begun." The masked man stands up, one arm firmly holding onto their wounded counterpart. Before letting it go to reveal some bizarre item out their pocket. "Take a look at this."

It's an ancient looking dagger covered in runes at the holster and a gleam of light around its blade. It's clear spiritual nature eludes it's main purpose however, one the Masked Man is eager to reveal.

"You're not the only one with a sponsor now, Gv." Masked Volt flinches at the nickname but lets them continue speaking for the sake of information. "But I can't say more than that, unlike Sumeragi they still have their secrets to keep. Fine by me really, as I only care about one thing…"

"Taking me down?" Masked Volt guesses and scoffs, "If you hold a grudge against me for whatever reason then so be it. Come at me anytime, but I can't allow you to endanger innocents lives here."

"It's not for whatever reason. But then again, I've let the suspense meander on far too long..."

"So let's begin the show, Gv! Henshin a go-go baby!"

The man stabs himself with the dagger, straight in the chest. Yet instead of blood or any other injury, a black smog seeps out of the injury and creates the image of an evil spirit looming over its summoner. It's black cloak of a body holding purple flames that in hindsight are a swarm of rabid butterflies. Not a second later, they swarm and surround him, obscuring the man from all sides.

Then like firework, the swarm dissipates. Leaving behind a humanoid figure with a black suit adorned with a teal torso with light blue linings, twin teal fans connected between his arms and torso, teal parts on each of his arms with a golden end and two fins, a teal helmet with light blue surround on top, and a mint green covering on his face. Four draconian wings shaped like an X loom behind the armored foe as their eyes glow with an orange spark similar to a sunset.

"An armored phenomenon!?" Masked Volt shouts in surprise while the crowd gasps in shock, one can wonder why they haven't evacuated yet and the simple answer is that a) the three mechs are still active and b) they're too enthralled by the show to do anything else but gawk in awe and fear.

"That's right and here's another surprise." The Masked Man grabs onto their mask and throws it to the ground, revealing their iconic spiky hair and a smile too forced to be true. "It's a me!"

"Zeno?!" Masked Volt almost shouts, chokes on some air in surprise and then clenches his fists in anger all in the span of a second. "W-what, how!? Why?! This isn't like you at-"

"Ta, ta, ta. Gv. I don't want to hear such words coming from the likes of you." Zeno interrupts with a tone so sharp one could get a cut from it. Then continues with a tone more to the point. "And to answer your question, I'm afraid I can't tell the whole story yet, after all that'd be anticlimactic."

"Things like that are better of told during some climax, like a dramatic rematch or the final battle." He teases, throwing out more video game references by the second before catching himself. "But to make the reason for my fun little cameo short and simple: It's because I can't stand by anymore."

"I mean come on, bud. One day we're the best of pals, the next you come out of some Elevator with the saddest look on your face as our mentor figure lies there covered in burns wounds. Then yet another moment you're now working for Sumeragi and actively putting rogue adepts and rebels into the lovely reformation camps and prisons and are glorified on tv for your obedience, man oh man."

"So, to that I say, et tu brute? Gv-bro, you were supposed to destroy the sith! Not join them! But that's fine, the joke's on me after all. Maybe I'm misunderstanding things, so explain it to me."

"Explain to me what in the fuck you think you're doing, Gv. I think we deserve that much."

"…" Masked Volt grows still at that as they lower their head in shame? Introspection? Whatever it is, the azure striker bites his lip in cold fury as he gathers his thoughts and finally looks up again.

"I have nothing to say to terrorists." He says back, unknowingly fueling the evil force that dominates every part in tv shows and movies: the sitcom-ques comedic or dramatic situation which would be resolved if only people would sit down, explain and listen to another, the tragedies which could have been prevented with a few simple words. The evil force known as 'Just talk it out, idiot'.

"Then be scattered to the wind!" Zeno declares as the fight finally reaches it's true zenith.

To be continued next episode, because the format demand a bossfight is a chappie all on it's own.

Author note: Not my best chappie ngl, but I just needed to make something for now and this'll do.

I may be writing myself into a corner now that I think of it, as I felt surprisingly uninterested in this part of the story as spoof or not, generic magical girl stuff is just that, generic as vanilla, zzzzzzzzz.

I mean like I think you can already predict the rest: Experienced protag gets in trouble when facing someone from their dramatic past, New protag has to help out in the last possible moment when a shady figure offers them power. They save the day, huzzah and older bro becomes the mentor to the younger bro after seeing a display of their bravery. Or the opposite could happen, as in Gv tells Mytl to stop but she doesn't. And after some time he's got no choice but to be her reluctant mentor as the other option would be to do nothing when she willingly puts her own life in danger.

Well, I think I'll continue writing it anyway. But if not, then I could just skip back to Copen, pretend this never happened and just continue to write the story from his pov as I'm clearly having more fun writing about mr racista as odd as that sounds. I could also just write dumb snippets I'm too impatient to properly build up to in a series of oneshots if my spark really, really gets low.

Cause I'm really looking forward to the moment where Copen goes 'Gunvolt has fooled my sister into working for Sumeragi, taking away her peaceful life. He must pay!' or 'She's my sister! The magical girl I almost killed was my sister after all!' moment like they did with the Prowler in those spiderman movies. Though the latter would only be possible if the Muse Septima allows one to force people's sub conscience to not fully recognize the muse whether they're an adept or not.

Hmmm..oh well we'll see. I've got the whole story written in a semi-script after all but actually writing things down chappie by chappie is surprisingly hard huh? Oh well, until next time folks!
