Hello guys, it's O6 here! This will be my biggest AU yet and will include a ton of chapters. It will be called, "IF ELENA OF AVALOR WAS MODERN!" And I'm basically gonna be rewriting t the entire series but make it modern instead. Obviously I don't own Elena of Avalor, but I do own the ideas I have for this (unless you suggest to me). Concepts will be posted next because I'm too excited to start. I hope you enjoy this first episode.

Princess Elena could barely get sleep last night, because of how excited she was to become queen. She woke up at 6:37 according to the big red numbers on her new alarm clock. She got ready and put on her signature gown, that she had been wearing since 41 years ago. Suddenly, she heard speaking in her balcony. Elena walked over there and opened the doors to see the jaquins outside.
Elena: Well, good morning!
Migs: Sorry if they woke you up, Princess.
Elena: Woke me up? I barely slept last night. I mean, how are you supposed to sleep the night before you come Queen?
Luna: So when do you get your crown?
Elena: Tonight at the Royal Ball!
Skylar: We will be there!
Migs:nUh, we were not invited, Skylar.
Elena: Ohh, you're always invited. I'll see you tonight!
Elena went back inside, grabbed an unknown gift for Isabel and headed for the door. But a blue spirit popped up in front of her, and caused her to jump back.
Elena: Zuzo!?
Zuzo: You can see me?
Elena: Uh, yeah.
(Zuzo proceeds to teleport to other areas in the room, and Elena still sees him.)
Elena: I thought you couldn't see spirit animals if a wizard conjured them up.
Zuzo: I thought so too!
Elena: So why can I?
Zuzo: I have no idea! Do you?
Elena: Well, I have felt a little...different, ever since I was freed from the amulet.
Zuzo: You were trapped in there for a long time! You probs picked up some of the anulet's magic when you got out of it.
Elena: So I'm magical now?
Zuzo: Just throwin' out some guesses. Butt whatever's going on, it's all good. 'Cause now, you can get some spirit wisdom any time you like! In fact, I'm gonna hit you with some right now. If you don't get downstairs right away, you're gonna be LATE FOR BREAKFAST!
Elena: Bruh, that's spirit wisdom? Hey, I got another question. What happened to Avalor, why is it so, modern than it used to be?
Zuzo: Maybe because Shuriki wanted things to change, but be happy! Everything's so easy now, you've got phones, cars, guns, and more access to anything than ever before!
Elena: Well, thank you for that, I'll try to adjust.
Zuzo disappears and Elena heads out her room with her things. She knocks on Isabel's door to her room.
Elena: Isabel, time for breakfast.
Isabel (behind Elena): I know.
Elena: Oh! You're up already.
Isabel: How can I sleep after being trapped in an enchanted painting for 41 years? That's 14965 days. There's so much stuff I wanna do, and much I wanna see now that everything's changed!
Elena (taking the present from behind her back): Well, I hope this can get you started. Since I'm getting a crown today, I wanted to get you something too.
Isabel opens the box to see a note on top of another box. Before looking at what's under, she reads the note.
Isabel: To my little sister for her big ideas and curiosity. Love Elena.
Isabel takes the box out and sees that it's as the box of a tablet. She opens it and it turns on right away.
Isabel: I've never seen one of these before! Thanks Elena! You're the best big sister ever!
Elena: No problem Isa, but am I the fastest? Race you to breakfast!
Elena starts running and Isabel follows behind giggling. Meanwhile in the dining hall, the rest of Elena's family were waiting for the two girls to come.
Esteban: The food is getting cold, abuela!
Luisa: Oh, we can wait a little longer, Esteban.
They suddenly hear laughter and Elena and Isabel run over to the table, almost knocking over a castle servant.
Esteban: Racing in the palace? Tut-tut, this is no way for princesses to behave.
Isabel: After tonight, Elena won't be a princess anymore. She'll be Queen!
Francisco: Uhh...
Esteban: Should I tell her?
Elena: Tell me what?
Francisco: Elena, you're not becoming queen tonight.
Esteban: I was looking through Avalor's by-laws and discovered you are too young to become queen.
Elena: Uhh, young? I was trapped in the amulet for forty-one years!
Luisa: But you did not aged, mija. Technically, you're still sixteen.
Francisco: Your grandmother is right. According to the laws, you must rule as crown princess until you come of age, with a help of the grand council, who must approve all of your major decisions.
Elena: I have to get permission to rule?
Francisco: Um, not exactly. It's like having a group of advisors that help you make Th e best decision.
Luisa: And look on the bright side!
Elena: There's a bright side?
Luisa: There's always a bright side! You get to choose the members of the grand council tonight at the Royal Ball.
Esteban: And May I be the first to offer my grand council services?
Elena: That's a kind offer Esteban, but I don't think I need a grand council. I'm ready to rule now!
Francisco: (chuckles) This is how I know you're still a teenager. You think you're ready, but ruling a kingdom is not so simple, especially now that everything is more advanced. It reminds me of a story.
—READ TO RULE SONG—
Elena: (to a portrait of her parents) Papa, how will I ever be a good a leader as you? (Looks our the window) The city. Of course! Today I will meet with all the city leaders and make sure they what they need to restore our kingdom to greatness. Can you arrange that, Armando?
Armando: Uh, is the chief of the castle supposed to arrange such things? I'm still getting used to the job.
Esteban: I know everyone who's anyone in Avalor. I will take care of everything. Just let me hit them up. (takes out his phone) Hi, Dona Paloma...
—SONG CONTINUES AND ENDS—
Elena, Isabel, and Esteban get into a convertible limo and wave to their grandma.
Luisa: Good luck, mija!
Elena: I'll be back in time for the ball! Let's go! (falls as it moves) AH!
When the car arrived at the bayside of downtown, people were taking pictures and clapping and cheering from a distance. One of the guards opened the car door for Elena, Isabel and Esteban to step out.
Gabe: Your majesty.
Elena: Oh, I haven seen you in the castle before.
Gabe: (excitedly) Yeah I just joined the Royal Guard! (Coughs) I mean it's my first day being your royal guard. I'm Brigadier General Gabriel Núñez. But you can call me Gabe.
Elena: Okay Gabe.
Esteban: This way Elena.
Isabel: Look how many ships there are now. And they look so much cooler!
The harbor had many ships, from small fishing boats and a few ferries, to huge cargo ships and cruise lines. The port was quite busy.
Esteban: As you probably saw, a WHOLE LOT has changed while you and your sister were gone. Since it's one of the most advanced in technology these days, Avalor is now the busiest port in the world. Merchants come from all over to trade in our biggest marketplace at the Via Mercado , also know as the mall, or the plaza. We will go there next.
Daniel: Your majesty. I am Captain Turner, harbor master. What can I do for you this fine day?
Elena: Actually, I came here to see what I can do for you. Is there anything you need to make the port run better?
Daniel: Anything I need? Well, I suppose we could use a few more docks, a bigger lighthouse...
Elena: Wow, I better write some of this down.
Esteban: Do you have your phone on you?
Elena: (takes out her phone from her dress pocket) Yeah I do.
Esteban: There is this app where you can write your stuff down.
Elena: Oh thanks!
As Daniel keeps going on about what he needs while Elena types, a girl comes running towards them.
Naomi: Dad, another ship's gone missing!
Daniel: I'm with the princess, Naomi.
Naomi: Oh, even better. She should know what's going on. It's the third cargo ship that's been stolen today.
Elena: Three ships in on day? Well we better start looking for the right away. I'll lead the search.
Naomi: You will?
Esteban: Just a moment, Princess Elena. It is time for you to meet with Dona Paloma, the magister of the trading guild.
Elena: I can meet with her after we find the ships.
Esteban: No, no. The coast guard will locate the ships.
Daniel: We've already sent out a search boat, Princess.
Esteban: See, your help is not needed. Elena, you said you wanted to meet with the city leaders of the city, and Dona Paloma is the most important leader of them all. We cannot keep her waiting.
Naomi: Of course you can. You're the one in charge! So if you wanna stay and help, then stay and help.
Elena: For now, let's have more coast guard join the search. I'll come back right after I've met with Dona Paloma.
Isabel: Can I stay? I wanna keep taking pictures of ships.
Elena: Sure. Uhh, Gabe, can you stay with Isabel?
Gabe: (Salutes) It would be my honor.
Elena: Thank you. Esteban?
Elena and Esteban get back in the limo and go to the plaza. Meanwhile Gabe starts a small conversation with Isabel.
Gabe: So, what was it like when your sister battled that sorceress?
Isabel: Weird.
Gabe: Weird? What was weird about it?
Isabel: No, that's weird. Why are dogs boarding a ship. (Getting up) Let's go investigate!
Gabe: Princess!
Gabe and Isabel chase the purple dogs onto the ship, the two of them hiding behind a shipping container. They watched as one of the dogs shape-shifted into a small troll-looking creature.
Isabel: No way...
Gabe: What are those things?
Isabel: I don't know
After all the dogs shape-shift, one of them notices Isa and Gabe.
Creature: GET HIM!
Gabe: Don't worry, I'll protect you.
Gabe took out his PB (suppressed pistol) and started shooting at the creatures. They dodged all the bullets and all at once tackled Gabe, then restrained him and Isabel to the pole at the front.
Gabe: This is so not how I wanted my first day to go.
The two of them watched as one of the creatures broke into the bridge and felt the ship start to move. Soon, they were backing the docks and Naomi caught the ship leaving with the creatures steering it and Gabe and Isabel tied up in the front mast.
Naomi: What are those... (gasp) oh no.
Meanwhile, Elena and Esteban are walking around the plaza with Dona Paloma talking to them. Dona Paloma was the most successful business woman in Avalor and was magister of trade.
Dona Paloma: ...and let me, Dona Paloma, personally make all trade deals from now on.
Elena: That's a long list!
Dona Paloma: Oh there's more, but we can discuss it tonight at the ball.
Naomi comes barging in, running over another royal guard.
Naomi: Another ship was stolen!
Elena: What?
Esteban: Young lady..
Esteban tried to grab Naomi, but she yanked her arm away.
Naomi: A-And your sister was on it!
Elena: Isabel? They took Isabel!?
Naomi: And your guard. They were tied up!
Esteban: I will alert the Navy right away! Captain Higgins, alert the Navy.
Elena: I just got Isa back. I can't lose her again. What was I thinking? I never should have left the harbor.
Elena notices the three jaquins flying in the air.
Elena: Skylar!
Skylar: Is everything okay princes?
Elena: No. My sister was taken.
Skylar: No..
Luna: Isabel?
Migs: And just when I thought the kingdom was getting safer.
Skylar: Climb on, we will search from the air!
Esteban: Elena, no. It is far too dangerous for you to go after boat thieves.
Elena: Well if I'm gonna rule this kingdom, I can't be afraid of taking on a few thieves.
Naomi: Exactly.
Elena: Come on, Naomi.
Naomi: Wait What? You want me to go with you? On one of those things?
Skylar: Hello, we're Jaquins, national symbols, you may have seen us on the flag.
Elena: You're the only one who knows what the ship looks like. You'll be fine.
A few minutes later while in the air...
Naomi: This is SO! NOT! FINE!
Luna: Hey, watch the feathers!
They look around to see if they find the boat.
Elena: Do you see the ship?
Naomi: No, but that'a impossible. They just left.
Elena: Did you see who stole it?
Naomi: They were these weird, purplish creatures. And one of them seemingly broke into the bridge of the boat by breaking a whole through the door.
Elena: So they have super strength?
Naomi: Yeah or probably with use of magic. And plus I tried searching the internet and it came up no answers. You have any idea what they are?
Elena: No, but I know someone who might!
They head over to a house far from the city. Elena and Naomi knock on the door. A boy opens it.
Mateo: Princess Elena!
Naomi: Mateo?
Mateo: Naomi?
Elena: You two know each other?
Naomi: Sorta..
Mateo: We go to school together.
Elena: I need your help Mateo, it's an emergency.
They go into Mateo's basement.
Naomi: What's with the extra-long jacket?
Elena: Mateo is a wizard.
Mateo: In training.
Naomi: Since when?
Mateo: Since always. I just had to keep it a secret before. I
still use the basement, though, because one, it's bigger than my room. And two, because I'm too lazy to move all my stuff.
Elena: That's...so true lol.
Mateo: My grandfather Alacazar wrote a book about all the magical creatures in the kingdom when he was a royal wizard, and since he nor I never had time to publish it, it never reached the Internet. (Grabs the book but falls) Oh!
Elena catches him.
Mateo: Thanks. Okay, so what did these creatures look like?
Elena: Uhh, purple, right? With pointy ears.
Naomi: And spots!
Mateo: Hm, that sounds familiar.
Mateo turns pages until Naomi stops him.
Naomi: Oh that's them!
Elena: Noblins?
Mateo: Yup. Noblins are magical shapeshifters. They can transform into dogs, and have the power to turn things to gold.
Naomi: I wish I had that power.
Elena: (gasp) Look here! It says that the Noblins live deep in the jungle, and never stray far from home.
Mateo: Then what were they doing in the city?
Naomi: Stealing ships apparently.
Elena: If they don't like leaving home, maybe that's where they're headed. (Points to an a picture of a river in the book) That's why we didn't see the ships on the ocean, because they took it up the river. That's where we should go look. Mateo, can you come with? We can use some magical assistance.
Mateo: I'm your wizard. (Smacks his face with his tamborita) Heck.
Elena goes to open the gate to Mateo's house, and as it opens, Zuzo pops out of it.
Zuzo: Hey there! I've got some advice for you.
Elena: I'm sorry Zuzo, I'm kind of in a hurry.
Zuzo: Well, that's actually part of the advice.
Elena: We'll talk later!
Zuzo: Okay suit yourself. (Disappears)
The Noblins are taking the ship through the river, Gabe and Isabel still tied to the front. The leader Noblin is happily steering the ship from the inside, having to stand up on the seat with 2 books under him. The boat turns left of a split.
Gabe: Another side river. The more turns we make, the harder it'll be for anyone to find us.
Isabel: I have an idea. (Grabs the box of her new tablet)
Elena and her buds are still looking for the ship.
Mateo: Elena, there's a fork in the river. Which way do we go?
Naomi: We could split up.
Elena: No wait. (Looks more down) There's something in the water!
Skylar: How dare they litter our beautiful kingdom.
Elena: Those pieces are from Isabel's tablet box. She must be leaving us a trail!
They followed that river that had the broken pieces of the box. Soon they find the three ships, along with the one Gabe and Isabel were in.
Elena: There they are.
Mateo: What's the plan?
Elena: First we untie Isabel and Gabe. Then we get our ship back!
Naomi: Yeah but how?
Mateo: I got a few tricks up my sleeve! (Flexes tamborita)
Naomi: You've been waiting all day to say that, haven't you?
Mateo: Maybe.
Elena flies over to the ship and jumps off, she sees Gabe's dagger on the ground and cuts the rope Gabe and Isabel were tied with.
Isabel: Elena!
Elena: Isa!
They embrace in a hug.
Isabel: You came for me.
Elena: I'm never losing you again.
Gabe grabs his army-issued knife and pistol that were on the floor and aims as the noblins come out of the bridge
Gabe: Get in the jaquins. I'll hold them off until you're safe.
Elena: Skylar, protect Isabel!
Skylar: You got it!
Isabel: What are you doing?
Elena: Taking back our ship.
Elena goes over to the noblins to speak to them.
Elena: As the future queen of Avalor, I order you to leave this cargo ship at once.
Noblin: I will not let my noblins be captured again.
Elena: Again?
Instead of responding, the noblin shape-shifted into a dog and lunged at them, barking. Elena grabs a nearby ring bouy and attempts to hit them with it.
Elena: Get back!
Mateo: (casts a spell) Vetzi!
The spell slightly stuns the noblins, but they get back up. One of them goes on top of Mateo, another one goes on Elena causing her to help out. They also go onto Migs.
Migs: Great, now everyone wants a ride!
Luna: Uh-uh. None o' y'all gettin' on my back.
Gabe: I'm serious princess, can you just go?
Elena: I'm not going anywhere!
Gabe: It's my job to protect you!
Elena: And it's my job to protect everyone.
A noblin goes on top of Gabe's head covering his eyes, and he starts swinging his knife until it hits a container. Elena ends up hitting one of the noblins with the ring bouy and it shape-shifts as it falls. Then it makes a cute face at Elena which distracts her from a noblin coming in to push her. More noblins grab her as she falls.
Noblin: Throw her overboard!
Elena: What!?
Elena tries to escape and she finds a rope and climbs up it escaping the noblins. She gets to the top of the mast and rests there. All she can do is watch as her new friends fight the noblins. Zuzo appears.
Zuzo: So, you have time for my advice now?
Elena: Zuzo! You have to help me save my friends!
Zuzo: First things first, why are you in such a rush?
Elena: Because they're in trouble!
Zuzo: No no! I mean, why have you been in such a rush all day?
Elena: Oh uh, well I was trying to prove that I was ready to rule now.
Zuzo: And how's that working out for ya?
Elena: Not so well.
Zuzo: Hmm...did you ever stop and think why the noblins took the ship in the first place?
Elena: No, but your right, I should've. Ugh, I was so busy proving that I can be a great queen I forgot to act like one. My grandfather was right. I'm not ready to rule.
Zuzo: But are you ready to learn? 'Cause that's all that matters! Just take your time, and you'll do great!
Elena: (thinks for a second) Thanks for the advice Zuzo.
Zuzo: Aw, giving advice is easy. Taking it is the tough one.
Elena watches them fight one more time and then goes down to stop it.
Elena: Wait! Don't hurt my friends, I'm just coming down to talk.
Noblins: Huh? About what?
Elena: I, am Princess Elena.
Jiku: I am Jiku, leader of the noblins.
Elena: Jiku, I should have asked before but, why are you taking our ships.
Jiku: We are just trying to get home. The only queen took us and locked us up in your city for many years.
Elena: Shuriki imprisoned you? Why?
Jiku: Because we have the golden touch. Shuriki forced us to turn all sorts of things to gold, to make her rich. But then one day, the bars of our prison vanished. We were free! But we were so far from home, in a strange city, so I had to get my fellow noblins to safety. The ships were the quickest way.
Elena: I had no idea.
Gabe: The reason you're all free, is because Elena defeated that evil queen.
Jiku: I had no idea.
Elena: Well, now that we know what's really going on, I have a royal decree to make. Jiku, you can borrow our ships to take you home, as long as we get them back after.
Jiku: Thank you, your majesty. Noblins, we're going home.
The noblins cheer to this news and thank Elena. The five friends stand knowing they were victorious.
Gabe: Speaking of home, we should get going if we want to make it back in time for the ball.
Elena: Right, the ball!
Back at the palace, the rest of Elena's family are waiting for Elena to come back with everyone else.
Esteban: And what was I supposed to do? She just took off on the jaquin.
Francisco: Look, it's Elena!
Elena and company come back on the jaquins and the sisters go straight to the family.
Isabel: Abuela!
Luisa: I'm so glad you're safe.
Isabel: Elena saves us! She tracked down the ships, and fought the noblins, but then she figured out they weren't mean at all...
Francisco stares at Elena and she stares back, knowing she came to her senses and knew she still had a lot to learn about ruling.
Later, the ball had started. Everyone was watching as Elena was about the be declared crown princess.
Armando: Princess Elena Castillo Flores. Do you swear to protect and defend the kingdom of Avalor?
Elena: Uhm, before I answer that, there's something I'd like to say. Today I set out to prove that I was ready to be queen of Avalor, and I learned that I have a lot to learn before I become queen. So with that in mind, I am ready to appoint my grand council.
Elena goes toward her family and friends.
Elena: Luisa, my grandmother, because you always find a way to look on the bright side of things, no matter how dark it gets. Naomi Turner.
Naomi: Me?
Esteban: Her?
Elena: Today you gave me great advice, and wouldn't stop trying to get me to take it. I can use your common sense and resolve on my council.
Naomi: I'm on the grand council. I AM ON THE GRAND COUNCIL!
Daniel: That's my Naomi.
Elena: Chancellor Esteban.
Esteban: Heyy..
Elena: You know so much about the kingdom, it's new technology and everyone in it, I would be foolish not to seek your expertise.
Esteban: Yes, this is true.
Elena: And finally, my grandfather, Francisco, the wisest person I know.
Francisco: Today, you acted like a true Queen.
Elena: And one day, I hope to be. But today, I vow *not swear* to protect and defend the kingdom of Avalor as Crown Princess.
Armando hands Elena the scepter, and as she grabs it, it brightly glows. Everyone stares and oohs in amazement.
Elena: Uhh, is it supposed to do this?
Francisco (to Luisa): It's never glowed like that before.
Before anyone can talk longer, however, the jaquins burst through the doors, and fly around.
Skylar: Ladies and gentleman, we have arrived!
Luna: HI ELENA!
Migs: We're still invited, right?
Elena laughs and waves.
Armando: It is my honor to present, Crown Princess Elena of Avalor!
Everyone cheers and claps and takes photos. Zuzo appears in front of Elena.
Zuzo: Not bad for your first day. But are you ready for day two?
Elena: Are you?
Zuzo: This is gonna be fun. Selfie!
Zuzo grabs a camera takes a picture with her, then disappears. Elena's family and new friends go up to the podium where the throne is and pictures are taken by the crowd. Elena sits on the throne and Isabel hugs her. After a few minutes, the real party starts with the music and everything.
