Just... An experiment. I thought I'd try a one shot where stress leads to the two ending up together, whether or not it goes further beyond just stress and relief, you'll have to figure out for yourself. This was inspired by one of my favorite games, Half-Life 2. Please R&R.

"Jury Fiver, is holding at Code Ion." The radio crackled as the masked soldier transmitted his status.
He raised his SMG, taking another sweep of the room he had been sent to investigate.
He checked behind furniture, and peered into the single closet, then began to relax. "Sector is secure, no Viscon."
He let his gun hang lazily from his hand, then tensed as a response came. "Report all positions clear." The soldier stalked out of the room,
rifle at the ready. "Copy that." The two children, who were huddled in a small alcove behind the lone sofa, wiggled out from behind it.
One peaked out the door, eyeing the retreating soldier, while the other sat huddled in front of the couch. "We really did it this time."
The child at the door glanced back, eyeing the young red-headed girl on the floor. She slammed a fist against the couch,
frustration evident on her face. "If I had listened to Grandpa, and put away Charm Caster's book..."
The boy at the door, a brunette with a black and white striped t-shirt, stepped towards her. "Yeah, but where's the fun in listening to Grandpa?"
He asked, a nervous grin on his face. The girl glared at him, her face red as she hissed at him.
"This is REAL, Ben. Those, Soldiers or whatever, were looking for us and I don't know why!" The boy, Ben Tennyson,
glared in return at his red-head cousin. "Gwen, they're only humans. We've handled Alien Warlords, wizards, and witches."
He placed his hands behind his head. "I think we can handle a few guys with a gun." Gwen's glare faded,
and she stared at the floor in front of her. "I miss Grandpa." Ben thought their situation over, where had it all gone this far down hill?"

"Gwen, put the book down. Messing with Time is one thing, but Space is another." Max frowned at his granddaughter in the rear-view,
watching as she attempted to decipher the Latin text within the leather-bound notebook.
"But Grandpa, haven't you ever wondered about Alternate timelines?" Max rolled his eyes, a slight smile on his face.
"Of course, but the risk that accompanies these things is usually great."

The afternoon had reached it's peak, with the sun high in the sky; Max had turned up the AC. Only to plop down in the front seat and take a nap.
Gwen sat quietly at the table, Ben beside her playing his Gameboy. With Grandpa snoozing, her curiosity could be satiated. It was now or never.
"Ut Supra..." She trailed off, uncertain for a moment. Power flowed from her fingertips, a small portal beginning to form in the middle of the RV.
She had to finish it. "Mundum Nos!" A blue portal opened up in the middle of the RV, slowly growing to swallow the two of them.

Gunfire echoed downstairs, Gwen and Ben ducked instinctively. "Grenade out! Get down!" An explosion rocked the building,
Gwen screamed and Ben wrapped his arms around her. The gunfire quickly ceased, pounding footsteps charged up the stairs.
Gwen and Ben ducked back into the alcove, Ben dialing up the Omnitrix. "Diamond Head would be perfect for a fire fight..."
The floor creaked as two shadowy forms crept into the room. "Think anyone made it out?" A male voice asked, a female scoffed.
"We probably would have seen them by now, especially with the City at war like this." Ben peaked out, eyeing the two humans. "Hello?" Gwen peaked out behind Ben, the two whipped around and aimed their pistols at the two. The male relaxed, the woman's eyes widened.
"Greg, they're kids!" The male, Greg, frowned. "I noticed, Nancy." He holstered his pistol, and got down on one knee.
"Hey, you two. Who're you?" Ben tensed under his gaze, wondering what was so surprising about their appearance.
"I'm Ben, that's Gwen." He said, gesturing to his cousin. Greg nodded, extending a hand. "Well, let's get you two somewhere safe."
Ben glanced at his hand, then stepped out from behind the sofa, Gwen clinging to his left arm. Nancy sighed, smiling sadly at the two.
"Okay kids, stay close. City 17 isn't exactly the safest place for the two of you to be."

Gwen's eyes widened, blood splattered over her face and clothes, she watched in horror as Nancy fell to the floor.
The female rebel was sporting a large hole in her forehead, her eyes wide in shock.
Greg screamed in anger, firing at the Combine Sniper's nest, and took one to the shoulder.
Ben quickly yanked him behind cover, and began to dial up his watch. "What the fu-" Ben cut him off by slamming a hand on the dial.
Diamond Head stood tall, the Petrosapien stepped out into the open. A blue laser settled on his forehead,
the bullet impacted and sent him stumbling. He responded with a large volley of crystals through the sniper nest.
A Combine Soldier screamed, tumbling to the ground with crystals protruding from his chest and legs. "Nance!"
Greg dropped to the ground behind him, cradling the other Rebel. "No, damn it!" He let out a sob, hugging her to his chest.
The watch timed out, and Greg glared at Ben. "Why the hell didn't you do that sooner!?"
He laid Nancy down, hauling into the air by his collar. "You could have saved her!" Ben tensed,
sadness in his eyes as Greg continued to berate him. "Yeah, it's weird that you can transform and all, but you could've..."
He dropped the ten year old, falling to his knees with a sob.

Two young children stepped out from behind the Rebel Sergeant, hand in hand. The red-head leaned the brunette, who gently pushed her away and began spinning the dial on his large black wrist watch. Gordon raised an eyebrow as it glowed a bright green, causing the boy to grin. Then watched awe as the young boy slammed a hand down on his black watch, only to transform into a large four-armed alien.
Gordon adjusted his glasses, his mouth agape. "Woah." Barney voiced from beside him, his amazement matching Gordon's.
The four-armed humanoid began tugging on the Combine pillar, as he struggled with it, blue energy began to surround it as well.
Gordon and Barney followed the alien's yellow eyes as he glanced to the red-head girl, who grinned as her outstretched hands glowed a bright blue. The pillar was hefted into the air, where the Four-Armed alien freed one hand, and gestured for Gordon to enter the hole.
Barney chuckled, watching as Gordon slipped into the underground. "And if you see Doctor Breen, tell him I said fu-"
The rest was lost as Ben and Gwen let the pillar fall, the cousins blushing and avoiding the gaze of the ex-security guard.

The two children ducked, Ben's watch was recharging and was therefore useless. Greg chucked another grenade at the inbound soldiers, grimacing at a brand new bullet wound. He glanced at the two children, then handed Ben a pistol. "Ben, best keep her safe." He reloaded his SMG, earning worried looks from the children. He vaulted over the barricade, screaming and firing wildly into the crowd of Combine troops. Ben vainly tried to provide cover fire, that was when the Citadel exploded. The shockwave sent the soldiers flying, Ben's watch reactivated and he switched to Four Arms, bracing himself, plucking Greg's limp form out of the air, and holding Gwen against his chest. The shockwave sent him sliding at least ten feet across the cobbled street, his feet leaving troughs in the ground. He let out a shuddering breath as a thunderclap sounded, the sky turning a dark red. He placed the unconscious rebel down, his cousin hugging him tightly. The watch timed out, and the world around them began to go dark. "You're not supposed to be here..." Gwen and Ben were suddenly paralyzed, a pale man in a blue suit slipping between them and stepping over the unconscious rebel. He turned around, glaring at the two children, before smiling wickedly. "In fact, you're not."
He raised a hand, bright light surrounding the two. "Get out."

They were back in the Rust Bucket, Max lay unconscious in the driver's seat, and the sun had just begun to set.
Ben and Gwen looked at each other in relief, Ben's arm going around her waist.
She laid her head in the crook of his neck, letting out a shuddering sigh. He laid his head against hers,
letting one loose as well. "I really thought we were going to die..." Gwen voiced, fighting back tears.
Ben chuckled, with very little mirth, and brushed her bangs away from her eyes.
"But we didn't." He tilted her head up, and softly kissed her on the lips.
She stared at him in awe, his eyes shone as he brushed away her stray tears.
"We're still alive." She wrapped her arms around him, throwing herself into a kiss.
With all the noise the two ten year olds made during their sloppy survival make-out session, they were surprised their Grandfather never woke up.
