Chapter 3- Searching for Sonic's friends
Harlem Apartment at 4:40 PM
(NO POV)
Sonic cracks open his journal that he had somehow taken with him while in this world, gets out a pen and starts writing.
Sonic's POV
I have been enjoying my new life so far. Chris is really cool and a great friend to have. His younger sister, Anna, is so sweet and she reminds me so much of Cream. Chuck, Chris's grandpa, is kind of strange but he's nice too.
Still. I can't help but to wonder where everyone else ended up. I can't stop thinking about all of them. My friends.
When I see Chris, there is one specific guy I am also primarily thinking about. Tails.
Tails is more than just my sidekick. He is my best friend. My younger brother. I had my parents take Tails in to live with me because he no longer had a place to call home.
That was how strong our bond is. I know he's somewhere and trying to handle things but he must be a total mess without me. He's probably trying to look for me now.
Unfortunately, I also feel like garbage because now I know that I am not supposed to exist in this world. That here, I am just a fictional character, and that all my adventures here are games. I can't help but to feel like I am not wanted here at all.
I am going out for a run.
Chris's POV
I walked into my bedroom to find an open journal. Sonic somehow isn't here. I guess he decided to go out in the city to run.
The journal is labeled Sonic The Hedgehog on the front, so it's a journal that he somehow kept while in this world.
I then read what Sonic said. About how he found out that he is just a fictional character, how he misses all his friends including Tails, how he feels like he is unwanted.
I really want to cry. When Sonic comes back here, I will make sure to give him a hug and tell him that everything is okay.
"Poor Sonic.." I said, as I walk out of my room

(NO POV)
Sonic goes up to the front of the door after his run and opens it.
Chris is standing by the door and sees Sonic.
He grabs Sonic in a tight hug to where it makes him uncomfortable.
Chris is shedding tears
Sonic is confused.
"Chris! I am so stiff and uncomfortable. Why are you hugging me like this? Just stop!" Sonic said
Chris stops hugging Sonic and decides to come clean about what he read in Sonic's journal.
"Sonic. I peaked at your journal and I am sorry. You must have gone through so much pain, after losing your closest friends. However, me and Anna can help you look for them. They couldn't have gotten very far right?" asked Chris,
Sonic tears up.
"R-really! You will help me find them?" asked Sonic
Chris nods.
Sonic then smirks.
"Then let's go." said Sonic
Anna has overheard the conversation. She walks up to Sonic and Chris.
"Uh. I think we have to start looking for your friends tomorrow." said Anna, "Grandpa wanted us to be home by five."
Sonic and Chris's faces fall, like an anime expression
The Next Day
Sunday, Harlem 9:30 AM
Chris Thorndyke was getting dressed. He decides to switch out his red and white shirt with a yellow, turtleneck long sleeve shirt. He smiles as he is done dressing.
He packs up a bag filled with a water bottle, a wallet, his phone and some snacks.
Sonic is hiding right behind Chris.
"Chris! Hurry up. If we don't start looking soon, something bad wi-" Sonic said, getting impatient and panicking
"Sonic! Chill out, dude. This is not like you at all! We're going to find them and if something bad does happen, we will be there together to rescue them." said Chris
Sonic breathes.
"I know. I am sorry Chris. It's that I am concerned. That's all. Plus, I am still traumatized over the incident…" said Sonic
"It's ok." said Chris, "Wait? What incident?"
Sonic almost turns into his dark form for a second out of rage but holds it back.
"You don't want to know." said Sonic, with a cold, sinister tone of voice
Chris's forehead is sweating. He has a scared expression on his face. He lets out emotional tears from his eyes.
"Sonic. Are you okay?" asked Chris, "What happened?"
Sonic keeps shaking in fear, remembering the atrocity that Eggman has caused back home with the dead bodies of the furry critters.
"Chris. I don't want to talk about it!", yelled Dark Sonic as he begins to rage
Sonic just stands there, still for about a minute.
Chris keeps shaking him.
"Sonic! Snap out of it!" yelled out Chris, "This isn't like you!"
Sonic sighs. He breathes and turns back to normal.
"I am sorry for scaring you, Chris. It's just that what I experienced is very tragic. I do not want to talk about it." said Sonic,
"Ok." said Chris, "Well, let's go."
Chris and Sonic get out of the room, only to see Anna standing by with Cheese the cat.
"You ready to go, Chris and Sonic?" asked Anna
"We're ready." said Chris
"Yup. We're ready as can be." said Sonic,
The three then head up to the door. They look at Grandpa Chuck, who is busy working on an invention.
"Grandpa, we'll be back soon. We are going to help Sonic find his friends." said Chris,
"Oh. Alright. Sonic must have been heartbroken with all of his friends missing. However, be careful you kids. I don't want you to get hurt, otherwise, your parents would be furious with me." said Chuck, "Don't be out too long and be back by five."
"Got it." said Chris
Chris, Anna and Sonic wave goodbye to Grandpa Chuck as they head out the door.

Manhattan 9:50 AM
Chris, Sonic and Anna are wandering around all in the Big Apple.
They go through certain areas and they still struggle to find any sign of them.
"Ugh. Darn it. Where could my friends all be? They must be somewhere. They could not have gotten very far, could they?", wondered Sonic
"Don't worry Sonikku. I am sure they are here somewhere.", said Anna
"Hey, why don't we check Central Park? They could be hanging around here. After all, they do often hang around Green Hill a lot and Central Park is like that.", said Chris.
"Great idea! Let's go", said Sonic
Central Park 10:20 AM
Chris, Sonic and Anna walk through Central Park. None of Sonic's friends are seen.
That is, until, seemingly, they bump into a guy who seems to be Tails. Sonic's best friend, younger brother and sidekick.
"Hey, Sonic. I think this is Tails!", said Chris
"Yes! Tails. Buddy! I've missed you!", exclaimed Sonic
Sonic tries to hug "Tails" but when "Tails" turns around, he is not really Tails. Not the Tails Sonic knows and loves.
He is a human, 11-year old boy who just resembles Tails.
The boy is confused.
"Huh? Tails? What are you talking about?" The boy asked
"Tails. Don't you remember me? It's Sonic!" he yelled out
"I am sorry but I never even met you. Aren't you supposed to just be a video game character?" asked the boy
Sonic scratches his chin. He sighs.
"So. You aren't Tails then? I am sorry. You looked like him for a second." said Sonic,
The boy smiles and giggles.
"It's okay." said the boy
"Well. The name is Sonic! Sonic the Hedgehog! I am pretty sure you knew about me before." said Sonic
"And the name is Miles. Miles Parker." the boy said, "I know you might be looking for your friends. I am here to tell you that they are probably around somewhere, even if they are a little far away, and not to worry too much about them."
Sonic opens his mouth in shock.
"H-how did you know?", asked Sonic
Miles kneels down to Sonic.
"I just know a lot about the Sonic series, ya know? I played the games, and even read the comics, although the Archie ones were mainly garbage." said Miles, "I know who all of them are. You, Tails, Amy, Knuckles, Shadow, Silver, Blaze, Rouge..all of them."
Sonic smiles.
"Wow. You know so much about me and my adventures don't you?" asked Sonic,
"Yes.." said Miles.
Miles looks over his watch.
"Aw crap. I have to start to get back home. We are supposed to go out to a restaurant for a big breakfast. My parents are going to kill me!" yelled Miles
Sonic stands there, with a sad look on his face.
"Nice meeting you, Sonic. I'll see you soon." said Miles, "Oh and feel free to stop by my garage any time. I got some cool stuff to show."
Miles gives Sonic a piece of paper, the address to Miles's place.
Sonic smiles.
Chris then sees Miles and notices him.
"Hey! Wait! Miles?! I knew you had to have looked familiar. You go to the same school as me." said Chris,
Miles simply nods.
"Yup. I have seen you in school before. We even share one class together, science." said Miles, "But I don't have too much time to talk because I have to go back home. I'll see you around, Chris!" said Miles
Miles then leaves the park.
Chris, Anna and Sonic also leave Central Park. They headed in the other direction, opposite to Miles.
"Whelp. There definitely was not a sign of them there.", said Chris
"Yeah. What a shame.", said Anna
"We will not give up! My friends are definitely all around somewhere! I will never lose them without a fight, especially if it's to Eggman", said Sonic
"Agreed. We shouldn't give up.", said Chris
"Chris, don't you have some money to get a cab?", asked Anna
Chris nods.

Suddenly, Chris had called a cab to pick up him, Anna, and Sonic.
The cab arrives and the trio climbs up inside.
The cab driver, a young guy with a goatee, pale skin, and long red hair, around his late 20s to early 30s, bats an eye at Sonic.
"Uh. Why are everyone looking at me so weirdly?", thought Sonic
The cab driver lets his weird look towards Sonic go.
"Alright. Where are you kids heading?", asked the cab driver
"We are heading to The Grand Central Station. We aren't riding out of the city but we just want to see if we can spot someone there.", said Chris
"Sure. I'd take you there.", said the cab driver
Suddenly, the cab driver starts driving.

Arrival at Grand Central Station
11:00 AM
"Here, we are. That'll be $8.50.", said the cab driver
Chris gives the driver the cash. The three climb out of the cab, and the cab leaves.
The three take the escalator stairs.
Sonic looked like he was about to fall on one of the steps.
"Woah! This thing is moving way too fast. I am going to TRIP!", yelled out Sonic
Sonic almost crashes on the escalator steps but Chris helps him up.
"Sonic. It's just escalators down the stairs. It's not so hard to be careful.", said Chris
Sonic nods.
He is relieved and feels a lot better.

Grand Central Station 11:04 AM
They get off the escalator.
Sonic takes a deep breath and smiles.
"Well. This is it, I guess? This is Grand Central Station huh? It looks kind of nice.", said Sonic
Chris and Anna nod.
Chris takes out a picture of a girl in his class. She has long blonde hair and blue eyes. She is the exact same age as Chris and appears to be in a wheelchair.
Her name is Helen.
Chris blushes at the sight of the picture.
Sonic looks at it.
"Oh. Well, who is that?", asked Sonic
"Oh, uh, that's Helen. She is a girl that I go to school with. She is in a wheelchair as she has a disability preventing her from walking. However, I have had a crush on her since I was in second grade. Unfortunately, I don't know if she loves me back. She might love me back. I have no idea. I don't know whether or not I should confess.", said Chris
Sonic looks surprised that his human friend is conflicted about this sort of thing but he sighs.
"Look, Chris. Bud. I know we only have known each other for a short time but when you see her, I really think you should have the confidence to confess how much you feel about her. Don't be so negative about it and think that she will never love you back. Who knows. She might. You will never know if you don't try.", said Sonic
Chris sighs. He blushes and smiles.
"Thanks, Sonic. The next time I see her, I will tell her myself.", said Chris
"No problem. I am always here to help a friend.", said Sonic
Suddenly, a voice appears in Sonic's head.
"Sonic! Can you hear me? Please. Listen.", said the voice.
It shows a fading hologram dimensional thing. It's revealed to be that of Shadow. Shadow the Hedgehog.
Chris, Anna and Sonic are watching
"Shadow?! What are you doing here?! Why are you talking to me through this thing and how?", asked Sonic
"Sonic. I'm currently teleporting through worlds trying to find a way where we can go home. I am afraid I have bad news. The federal government here is trying to screw us over, and taking us hostage. Also, it appears that a version of the doctor from this world is working alongside them and conducting the experiments on at least a few of your friends that came. Cream, Cheese, Blaze and Amy. If you don't do something soon and find all of the others before the Eggman we know gets here to take over the world, we would be totally screwed. Please listen, Sonic. You have to trust me when I am saying this.", said Shadow
The hologram fades.
"Shoot. I guess we're done for.", said Chris
"Don't worry, Chris. I won't let all this happen. We'll make sure we find everyone and then find a way to get home.", said Sonic
"That's the spirit!", cheered Anna
Chris smiles.
Suddenly, Shadow teleports behind Sonic with a fake chaos emerald and knocks him down.
"Surprise to see me, eh old friend?", asked Shadow
"Shadow. You're here!", said Sonic
Sonic runs up to hug his rival.
Shadow smirks.
"Sonic. As much as I do not want to admit it, it's great seeing you again.", said Shadow
Shadow pats Sonic on the shoulder
"Awww. This is so sweet. Two hedgehogs hugging it out. It's like they are brothers.", said Anna
"Yup.", said Chris, "Well, at least we found one of them."
Well. The three found Shadow the Hedgehog, a rival/friend of Sonic's. Shadow will now join them on the journey. How will this unfold?
