Chapter 5: The Search really begins
Chris's Apartment in Harlem Monday 9:30 AM
Chris's POV
I am starting to get out of my bed. Anna and I had asked Grandpa if we could take off from school for a while to help out Sonic to look for his friends. He was okay with that.
So here I am now. Shadow took off to investigate where many of them could be and to confront the government for putting their lives at risk. They are probably scattered all over the country by now, and we don't know when we will find them all. When we do find many of them, I fear they might all already be kidnapped at Area 59.
But I am sure we will. I'm sure we will find them. I know we will, and we can save them.
I ate a quick breakfast, brushed up and put some clothes on. Anna and Sonic had met me right by my bedroom door.
"We're going now. Bye Grandpa.", said Chris
"Yeah. See you.", said Anna
"Be careful kids. Oh and don't be afraid to call me if you need more assistance.", he said
We all walk out the door.
Sonic sighs.
"This is going to be a long journey, isn't it?", asked Sonic
"It will, but don't worry Sonic. We won't let you down. We will be able to find them in no time.", I said
"Thank you Chris and Anna. I am glad you are helping me find them.", said Sonic
"You're welcome." Anna said

(NO POV)
Two hours had passed. They had looked everywhere for the rest but they are nowhere to be found.
The only one of Sonic's friends that they know they can easily find is Cream the Rabbit. Cream and her pet chao Cheese are in Area 59 right now, fearing for their lives as they are just two the government was able to successfully capture.
And unknown to them, a certain two tailed fox named Tails is traveling from Virginia to New York just to find Sonic
"Ugh. This is so hard. Maybe we should call for help.", said Sonic
"I agree. It appears we aren't getting really anywhere and the only one we know the location of is Cream.", said Chris
"Funny enough though. Me and Cream do look a lot alike.", said Anna, "I never noticed it until now but I look like a literal Sonic character."
Sonic looks over at Anna and responds.
"Yes, Anna. You remind me so much of Cream. You act like her too except more adventurous and energetic. You always reminded me of her.", said Sonic, "That girl is like a younger sister to me, and I am worried sick over her, as well as the others."
"Even Shadow?" Chris asked
"As much as I hate to admit it, I am worried about him too. I hope they don't find him either.", said Sonic
"Good point.", said Anna
Sonic suddenly forms an idea. He knows exactly who can help them.
"Wait a second. I just thought of an idea.", said Sonic
"Yeah, what is it?", asked Chris
" You know that kid Miles Parker? A classmate of yours from school that we met at the park who looks a lot like Tails?", asked Sonic
" Yeah? What about him?", asked Chris
"I have his address written down on a piece of paper he gave to me before he took off the other day. Why don't we go over to his place in his garage? I think he can help us locate them?", asked Sonic
"That is a great idea!", said Anna
"Um. Sonic. While that is a really good idea, he is still in school right now. Students don't leave school until two in the afternoon, and it's only eleven thirty.", said Chris
"Oh. Well, honestly, let's make the most out of this big city to pass the time.", said Sonic
"Yeah. We should.", said Chris

Around 10:30 in the morning, Chris first got some tickets for a ferry at 1 PM to see Liberty island. To basically see the statue of Liberty.
A tour through Liberty Island. Basically, for the three of them, to symbolize hope, freedom and liberty for all of Sonic's friends who are subjected to be held hostage by the entire government scientists at Area 59 led by Ivo Robotnik.
The afternoon came.
Times Square, Manhattan
12:00 PM
Chris, Anna and Sonic decided to walk through Times Square.
They spot a McDonalds there. Chris and Anna smile.
"Hey. I think we should eat lunch right about now. There is a Mickey D's over here and I am starving." said Chris
"Me too." said Anna
"Meh. Chili dogs are better." Sonic said, while shrugging, "Even the food back in Chinatown is better."
Chris facepalms. Anna looks disappointed.
"Come on, Sonic! You haven't even tried it yet!" yelled out Anna
"Yeah. How do you know for sure that it's inferior to your favorite food if you had not tried it?" asked Chris
Sonic ponders for a second then sighs.
"I guess you're right. I should give it a chance.", said Sonic,
Chris smiles.
"That's the spirit!" He said
So. Sonic and the kids look both ways. They then walk across the street of Times Square to McDonald's.
At McDonalds, Times Square
Chris, Anna and Sonic wait in a line with a few groups of people.
"Ugh. This line is so long.", said Sonic
"Sonic. Calm down. There are not that many people here.", said Chris, "It's a short line. Just wait patiently and we can order."
Sonic sighs. He takes a deep breath.
"Alright." Sonic said
Sonic is scratching his chin. He isn't entirely sure what to order.
A few minutes went by and as the line was moving faster, Sonic decided to order some nuggets, fries and a shake. Chris agreed to lend Sonic the money to pay for his order.
Chris ordered a Big Mac with fries and a soda. Anna just decided to get a Happy Meal that comes with nuggets, fries, milk, and a little toy.
Chris and Sonic paid for all their orders.
They sat down on the table, waiting for their names to be called.
The employee then brings the trio the food. They bite into it.
Sonic chews his nuggets and a bit of his fries.
"Well, this is not half bad. Not at all.", said Sonic, while eating
"That's nice but um- do not talk while you are EATING! You'll choke.", said Anna
"Yeah. It would be funny if the fastest thing alive himself suddenly died from choking on food from McDonald's.", said Chris
Chris and Anna laugh hysterically. Sonic laughs with them then continues eating.
Minutes have gone by and they are all done with their food.
They walk right out of the building.

Meanwhile
The White House
The President sits at his desk, in the Oval Office, feeling bored. He keeps scratching his white hair.
He keeps signing important documents and debating which laws to veto, all while having to meet with scientists from Area 59 led by Professor Ivo Robotnik, to enact the plan to get rid of those "genetically modified characters" for fear by the government of the country that they could be a threat to society.
He sighs.
He is 80 years old, has better things to do with his time, and clearly does not want to deal with the whole 'Sonic the Hedgehog' problem. He growls.
He suddenly hears his phone ringing. It's from Ivo Robotnik. He picks it up.
"Hello, Mr. President", said Ivo on the other line, in a menacing tone
"And what do you wish to speak to me about? Is there any new development on this issue concerning Sonic suddenly being here?", the president asked

The scene cuts to Area 59 Robo Company HQ. Robotnik is seen smiling as he talks to the president.
"The military managed to capture a few of them already. One appears to be a purple cat with a dress, another appears to be a rabbit girl and her pet, and the other is a silvery hedgehog. From what some have told me, they are called Blaze, Cream, Cheese and Silver.", said Ivo, "We are currently performing tests on them."

The White House
"That's good, I guess. Alright then. I'll let you go now.", said the President
He then hangs up the phone.
He sighs.
"I wonder if they are really weapons and enemies we have to go after or are they just the real characters suddenly appear in this world?" , thought the President
The President is possibly reconsidering his stance on the issue.

Manhattan
Sonic, Chris and Anna have made it over to the ferry by 12:40.
"Tickets please?" The guy asks before letting them on the boat.
Chris hands over the tickets and he smiles
He doesn't even bat an eye at Sonic, and never questions how a video game cartoon character suddenly exists.
"Have fun touring.", said the guy.
"Thank you.." said Chris
They climb onto the boat.
"Are you ready to see the Statue of Liberty?", asked Anna
"Uh…I do not know.", said Sonic, looking nervous
"Oh. So you're afraid that the statue will come alive and destroy the world?", asked Chris, chuckling
"Maybe. Things like this have happened to us before.", said Sonic
Chris and Anna laugh at Sonic.
"Why are you laughing? Is it something I said?", asked Sonic
"You don't need to worry, Sonic. The statue is just a statue of a lady. She is not going to just come alive out of nowhere. I highly doubt it will happen.", said Chris, with a reassuring smile
"Phew.", said Sonic, in relief.
"And even if that does happen, we'll be there right with you and we won't ever leave you behind.", said Anna
Sonic smiles.
"Thanks guys.", he said, giving them a thumbs up

By 1 PM, the ferry is ready to board.
Sonic sighs. He grabs onto Chris and Anna as he lays right in the middle of them.
He looks nervous.
He scratches behind his ears.
"Uh…are you guys sure I won't get sea-sick?" asked Sonic,
Chris scratches his chin.
He snaps his finger.
"Don't worry Sonic. You won't really get sea-sick because I have these bands for us." said Chris, as he puts his band on.
Chris hands Sonic and Anna sea sick bands.
"Thank you." Sonic and Anna both said, as they put them on their wrists
"Alright. We are preparing to take off." said the captain, speaking through the speaker.
He keeps explaining the rules and then tells them to have a nice ride.
The boat then departs to Liberty Island.
The sights of the water and the surroundings around it look nice.
He even sees a building called Ellis Island, where earlier, Chris and Anna both explained to him that it was how immigrants used to be able to get into the United States.
Sonic looks at what he sees so far with a smile and a thumbs up.
Chris and Anna both look at the sights as well. The two of them smile.
Suddenly. Moments later.
The boat finally reaches the most iconic and beautiful sight New York City ever has.
The Statue of Liberty AKA Lady Liberty.
Sonic stares at the statue's beauty in shock.
He stares at it in awe. Sonic blushes hard at it.
"Woah. This is giant!" said Sonic
Chris and Anna nod.
"Beautiful, isn't it?" asked Chris
"Yes." said Sonic
Suddenly, a familiar plane is flying across the Statue of Liberty. From a far distance, there is a yellow-orange silhouette of a certain two tailed fox (Tails) driving it, with two other people in it (Johnny and Mara).
Tails gives Sonic a wink, singling that he will be there soon.
Sonic stands there and waves, then smiles.
"I think that was Tails." said Sonic,
"So we found him?" asked Anna
"Well. It's more like he's finding us." said Sonic
"That's great!" said Chris
Afterwards, Chris decides to joke around about it.
"Looks like maybe the Statue of Liberty is MAGIC!" said Chris, jokingly.
Sonic and Anna both laugh at Chris's remark.
Because of the Statue of Liberty, it gave Sonic more hope. Hope that his friends will eventually be found and saved- even if it will take a lot more work to do so.
Sonic smiles.
"Don't worry. I won't let you all down." Sonic thought.

An hour later, the boat had landed back at the port.
Suddenly, they were greeted with a bunch of people.
It appears that they are a bunch of fans of Sonic the Hedgehog. Right in front, they all get to see their favorite character in person. Fangirls, fanboys and even just casual fans alike.
"Look, Sonic! There are so many people that like you!" exclaimed Chris
Sonic is shocked at what he sees. He sees a good chunk of his fanbase.
"Look at all these people. It sounds like they love me." Sonic said.
One fangirl holds up a pen and paper.
"SONNNNICCC! Can you sign this please?" she asked
Sonic then grabs the pen and signs the paper with his signature.
"Sonic! Sonic! Sonic!"
They all chant his name.
One other fan, a guy wearing a Sonic cap comes up to him.
"Hey, Sonic. Man. It's such an honor to meet you in person. The real deal. I never thought this would happen." said the guy.
Sonic nods. A small smile is on his face.
Sonic blushes as he is surrounded by his fans. He takes pictures with them and signs autographs.
This lasts for about 20 minutes until a staff escorts them out.
Chris, Anna and Sonic then walk back.
"Well, looks like school let out. Miles should be home by now." said Chris
"Yeah, let's go!" said Sonic
Anna nods, in agreement
"And he'll probably be able to help us." said Anna

30 minutes later, they reach the apartment where Miles Parker lives. They walk up to the door and Chris rings the doorbell.
They waited two minutes for someone to answer and it appears no one is there.
"Ugh. Nobody is here, apparently. I don't think he's home…" said Chris
"This sucks!" yelled out Anna
Sonic groans.
Just when they are about to walk towards home, Miles opens the garage door. He spots the three. He takes off his goggles.
"Chris! Sonic! Anna! You're here!" Miles exclaimed
"Yeah, hello." said Chris
"Hey." said Sonic
Anna smiles and blushes at him. She waves hello to Miles as well.
"It appears that you need my help with something?" asked Miles
"Yes, we do." said Sonic,
"Well, come in then." said Miles
Miles then takes the three inside the garage and closes the door.
"Let me guess. Sonic, you want me to help you, Chris and Anna find your other friends before the government takes them all away right?" asked Miles
Sonic nods.
"Yeah. We need all the help we can get!" said Anna
"Well. I just know a way. We can track them down easily." said Miles
"Great." said Sonic, "You are just like Tails! Always has a plan."
"Really?" asked Miles
"Yes. You remind me so much of him. It's crazy!" said Sonic
Miles chuckles
"Well, thanks a lot. I actually got inspired by Tails to become an inventor. After all, he is my favorite character in the series." said Miles, with a smile
Miles then gets out his tracker which resembles the Miles Electric that Tails uses except that it is gray instead of yellow.
The tracker then shows the location of Amy and Knuckles.
"Wait a second. Amy Rose! Knuckles the Echidna! It appears that they are spotted at a building right near Battery Park." said Miles
"Aw yeah. This is HAPPENING! Let's go!" shouted Sonic
"The suspense is killing me!" yelled Chris in excitement, "Soon, I'll get to meet all the Sonic characters!"
Miles, Chris, Anna and Sonic then get out of the garage. He then locks the garage doors.
Miles then sees his mother walking out of the house. She just came back from planting some flowers as she is holding a flower pot in her hand. She puts the pot on the front porch.
"Mom! I'll be going. I have to help find some friends." said Miles
"Okay but try to be home by dinner time." said Miles's mom
"Yeah, I'll try." said Miles
Miles then climbs on his plane. Sonic, Chris and Anna climb on board in the passengers seats.
"Alright. Prepare for takeoff." said Miles
Miles starts off the engine.
Soon, they all take off into the sky.

Meanwhile, Ivo is just sitting in his chair, leaning over to Cream the Rabbit and Cheese who just had woken up from their slumber. Blaze and Silver are still sleeping.
Cream doesn't know what is going on. She sees a half bald man who resembles Doctor Eggman but isn't.
"EGGMAN?! Where am I?! Why are you doing this?" asked Cream, freaking out
Cream is screaming for her life. She and her pet chao Cheese are being scanned by scientists, so they can see if they have bombs or potential weapons of mass destruction hidden inside of them.
Ivo Robotnik smirks.
"I am not this Eggman you are talking about. The name is Professor Ivo Robotnik. I work for the government of the United States. You are in Area 59- The Robo Company. It's a secret company base that is employed by the government. We are testing you because we believe you could be a threat." Ivo said
Cream and Cheese are both screaming louder. Tears are coming out of their eyes.
Cream is shaking in fear.
"I hope Sonic will be able to save us soon.." muttered Cream
Cheese cries out noises.

Battery Park
A half an hour later, Sonic, Chris, Anna and Miles have made it over to Battery Park.
Miles parks his plane near the entrance.
"Ok. We are here.", said Miles
"Great." said Chris
