Sarah woke up later in the morning. She felt like she had the best night's sleep ever. She sat up and yawned before jumping out of bed. She grabbed a new robe for the day, slipped on her boots, and headed out the door to find her sister and friends. She wandered around the castle until she found them gathered in the castle's living room.
To Sarah's surprise, they all had looks of shock and relief over their faces. "You guys alright?" she asked.
Amy immediately stood up and gave her stater a big hug "your alright!"
"Of course I am," Sarah started as her sister began crushing her ribs.
Jack and Jess waited a moment before joining the hug. But their caringness was making Sarah a bit worried. Had she missed something? Did something happen that she didn't know about? Was there a break in or had something happened to her? "Alright guys, what's going on?"
"You don't remember anything from this morning?" Jess asked as they all broke away from the hug.
"Something happened this morning?" she questioned.
Jack and Jess looked at each other and then back at sarah. Jack opened his mouth to say something but Amy beat him to it. "Master Yensid said he wants to speak with you."
Sarah raised a brow, something fishy was going on. She shrugged it off and turned to head to his tower.
"Where are you going?" Jack called after her.
Sarah turned her head "I'll be back, for now why don't you guys explore the castle." She then proceeded down the large enchanted hallway and up a rather tall, rounded staircase that led to her master's quarters. She was curious as to what her master wanted to speak to her about. Usually they wouldn't meet until after lunch. Whatever it was, it had to be important.
Soon, she reached the door. Without hesitation she opened it to find Yensid and Merlin talking near a window. They both stopped when she entered the room. She quickly looked down at the ground and began to shut the door "sorry, ill just-"
But Yensid stopped her "it's alright Sarah, you may enter. We were just finishing up." he motioned her to sit at the same table she took her lessons from. His "office" space was quite empty. A small bookshelf, table, two chairs, and a chalkboard were the only things occupying it. There was also a door that led to his private chamber, but Sarah never stepped foot in there.
Sarah sat down and waited for their conversation to finish. She watched as Merlin nodded before exiting the room. Yensid then proceeded to sit in the seat across from her. "You wished to speak with me?" Sarah questioned.
Yensid let out a small sigh. "Do you remember the week before the first attack? When you had the "episode"?"
Sarah narrowed her eyes, crossed her arms, and leaned back in her chair. "I thought we agreed to never bring that back up."
"I remember." he paused for a moment trying to think of the best way to bring up what happened earlier that morning. "Do you remember anything from this morning?"
Sarah shook her head. "Nope, but now that you mention it, my friends and sister we're giving me strange looks. Did something happen?" she raised a brow in question.
"Sarah, this morning you woke up the same way you did when you had the "episode" two years earlier."
"Another one?" she questioned, her eyes growing wide with shock. Her gaze shifted to her lap "no wonder everyone was worried."
"I took care of the memories, like last time." he reassured her "But I think there's something from this vision you should know. Especially knowing that your friends are here."
Sarah looked back up at him "what?"
"Your dream showed one of the kingdoms covered in darkness, your friends and the characters looked to be fighting against something."
Sarah's eyes lit up upon hearing this. The last time she received a vision was right before the first attack. But Yensid had wiped the memory from her once she refused to leave the castle. She knew, from what Yensid told her, that most of her vision never came true. But this, this was a different story. If her friends were going to be put in harm's way, she needed to find some way to make sure it didn't happen again.
"I know this is a lot to process, '' Yensid stated, snapping Sarah out of her trance. "But there's still hope that none of this will happen."
"We don't know that master." Sarah shouted "I just got my sister back, and I haven't seen my friends in months. And now there might be a war! I can't lose them again, Yensid!" she slamed her fist onto the table.
"Sarah you can't let your emotions get the better of you." he said calmly as he placed a comforting hand around her fist. "Will build a plan based on your dream in case anything happens. But we can't let the future cloud the present, you and I still have a lot of work to catch up on."
Sarah gave her master an angry and confused look. "Really, after everything that happened yesterday, you want to jump straight into a lesson?!"
"After my absence I have no idea where you are with your studies or jedi abilities."
"But I've been staying on top of the yen- I mean mester. Luke and Rey both say i'm an excellent student, and Merlin stepped in while you were gone. Besides, shouldn't you be resting after everything?"
"If anything Sarah, I need to be up and on my feet after sitting in the dungeon for 3 months! And wail Merlin did say you were high in your studies, you're still behind in your history. And I would like to see your force abilities demonstrated."
"But my friends, my sister, they don't even know this kingdom very well-"
"I ask Merlin to ask Arthur to take over that responsibility."
"But-"
"Enough sarah!" Yensid stated as he stood. Sarah crossed her arms and slouched back in her seat. Yensid sighed as he rephrase his reasoning "think of it this way, you don't want anything to happen to your friends and family correct?" Sarah only gave him an angry nod. "Well then, you being here and studying hard will do that." he walked over to the bookshelf and pull one on the history of the kingdom. He then walked back over to where Sarah sat and placed it on the table. "Will start with where we left off, chapter 8: secrets of the castle."
Back down in the castle's living room, Jack, Jess, and Amy all waited for Sarah to return. Though she said they could explore, they weren't really sure of the castle's layout and didn't want to get lost. But after waiting five to ten minutes, they were greeted with a visitor. A boy, wearing brown baggy pants, a red shirt with leather boots, and blond hair, stood in front of them.
"Hey guys, ready for a tour of the kingdom?" He asked.
The group gave him a confused look. They all stood from their seats. "I'm sorry, who are you?" Jess asked, not recognizing the character.
The boy shook his head and sighed. "Guys it's me, Arthur, I'm just in disguise for our tour. Characters aren't supposed to be out during the day so if we want to go out, we need to dress like the general public."
"Oooooh" the group said, nodding their heads in agreement.
"But Sarah said she was gonna join us, where is she?" Amy asked.
"She's with Yensid for her lessons, at least that's what Merlin told me. So he asked me to show you guys around instead." Arthur stated.
"Will she be done soon?" Jack questioned
Arthur shrugged "with Yensid, she could be in there all day. Especially since they havent seen eachother in 3 months."
"3 months?!" they all questioned.
"But we haven't seen her in almost a year!" Jack stated.
"And I haven't seen her in five!" Amy shouted.
"Trust me, I'm not happy about it either. But unfortunately, Yensids basically the boss around here, what he says, gose." Arthur sighed and quickly changed the subject "but look at it this way, you're with the park's best guide. I know all about fantasy land, even the secret stuff. Pulse I can get you onto the attractions without waiting!"
Jack and Jess lit up at this information. "You mean we don't have to wait in lines?" Jess questioned.
"Yes, now come along. We're burning daylight." Arthur then left the room. The group followed not far behind. Arthur led them through the castle, down several long hallways until they reached a door. He peeked his head in making sure the coast was clear. When he was sure that no one was coming he exited and getured for them to follow. When all of them were out in the new hallway, Jess immediately reocnised it.
"Are we in the sleeping beauty walkthrough?" she questioned.
Arthur nodded as they continued walking. "Yep, when the park originally opened, we characters made the castle our home. It's enchanted, which is why it's so big on the inside."
"So this castle isn't home to royalty, it's an, what do you call it, attraction?" Amy inquired.
"An attraction is many things, Amy. Sometimes it's a ride, sometimes it's a walk-through attraction like this." he gestured to one of the open windows that showed maleficent growing her thorny vines.
"MALEFICENT!" Amy shouted as she put up her hands ready to use the force on her but Jess swiftly stood in front of her.
"Amy it's not the real her, it's just a display."
"You mean to tell me that you put these villains, the people that hurt you, up as cardboard cutouts to show off?!" she was very conferred "cause where I come from, the rebellion destroyed everything that had an Imperial symbols on it, atleast, until the first order took over."
"I know it's confusing Amy" Arthur said as he grabbed her arm "but you will learn our ways in time. Maybe a ride will cheer you all up." he then began dragging her along towards the exit.
Once at the exit, they all breath in the fresh air and feel the gloryus rays of sunshine fall on their skin. "Everyone, may I welcome you to fantasyland, home to heroes big and small." Arthur says, more introducing the land to Amy. "Fantasyland is by far the safest area in the park, same with toontown. We characters tend to stick to these lands as the rest is inhabited by the villains."
"I don't know about you guys, but after two days of isolation, it's nice to be back outside." Jack said.
"You said it." Jess agreed.
"So what do you guys wish to ride first? Pinocchio's daring journey, Snow White's Enchanted Wish, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride."
"What about Storybook Canal Boats? I've always loved that ride. Pulse it's a great place for Amy to learn about the different stories." Jess suggested.
"Great idea Jess!" Arthur said as he took off into Fantasyland. Of Course everyone followed with Amy being even more confused. They were treating her like this was all real and normal, but how? How could she be from a story when she was, well, real? For now she would just have to play along until she got some answers.
It wasn't long before they reached their destination. Sadly there was a long line like always.
"45 minutes, really?" Jack sated
"It's better than Dumbo, it had over an hour wait when we walked by." Jess stated as she and Jack headed for the cue but Arthur stopped them both.
"Don't worry about the line guys, I've got connections." He gestured for them to follow him again, this time to the exit of the attraction.
Jack and Jess looked at eachother with confusion as Amy was just shaking her head in disbelief. They all made their way to the exit where a cast member was standing. Arthur put on his best smile and approached the cast member. "Hello Kate," he said, reading her name tag.
"Hello!" she greeted "is there something I can help you with?"
"Yes ma'am, in-fact, me and my friends here are hoping to skip the line and hope on the attraction, you might just say we're looking for a Magical Character Experience." He put emphasis on the last three words.
The cast members' eyes lit up as her jaw dropped a bit. "Um.. ah, yes of course sir-"
"Arther."
"Of course sir Arthur." the cast members said as she opened the exit gate. "I've got 4 special guests coming though. They're looking for a magical Character experience." the cast member called to the others on the dock.
Arthur tips his head and moseys on down the dock. Amy, Jack, and Jess looked at him in shock. Never had they been able to skip the line like this before. They followed after him "how did you do that?" Jess asked.
"Do what?" Arthur questioned.
"Skip the line." Jack replied.
"Simple, we characters have a code phrase that we say to the cast members when in disguise. It lets them know that we're precious cargo but just want to have a good time." He whispered then looked at Amy "you should learn it too, especially since you are a character."
Amy rolled her eyes at that statement 'character, ya right.' She said in her mind.
They got to the end of the dock and boarded the boat. With Arthur's code phrase it was just them and no other guest. Eventually the boat casted off from the dock and the cast member steering it started to speak. "Hello my name is Clark and i'll be your captain and storyteller aboard the bell. For your safety we ask that you remain seated keeping your hands, arms, feet, and legs inside at all times." he spoke very cheerfully. "You may be wondering how we get to storybook land from here, well when there's a whale, there's a way. In this case a menacing whale known as Monstro the whale. He is the very same whale that swallowed pinocchio. But as were swallows today, we will be taken to a magical land known as storybook land!"
They traveled into Monstros mouth, through his stomach, and came out the other end where they were greeted with cute tiny little houses, cottages, castles, and more.
"Who's Pinocchio, and why is everything so small." Amy asked.
"Pinocchio is a wooden boy. And everything is so small because well" Arthur came closer to whisper in her ear as to not ruin the magic "there all just models, but they try not to say to preserve the magic."
"Preserve the magic, all that's done is cause trouble." Amy stated.
"Yes, well, preserving the magic and making people believe is how we characters are able to stay alive." Arthur stayed. "Without the belief, you and I wouldn't be here."
The cast members continued to talk as they passed the three little pig scenes. "As one tale ends another begins, with a good Once Upon A Time, our story starts with the big bad wolf who lives in his cave to our left. He always wanted to chase after those three little pigs, don't worry, they live across the way in three little houses. One out of straw, one out of stick's, and one out of 100% guaranteed wolf proof brick's."
The group looked around at the cute little miniatures, everything had so much detail put into it.
"Now our story is going to take a turn just around the river bend, and to our left hand side you'll see a quaint little village home to Alice. Where one golden afternoon Alice followed the white rabbit down the rabbit hole. She fell down, down, down all the way into wonderland where things only became curiouser and curiouser from there." they passed a cute little village that resembled the same aria Alice laid in before she ventured to wonderland.
Amy then muttered "this world just keeps getting curiouser and curiouser."
"To our left you'll see london park where Peter Pan took Wendy, John, and Michel darling were whisked off to Neverland with the help of Tinkerbell's pixie dust. It is the one place where you will never, ever, have to grow up." he explained as they passed a grassy island full of trees.
"If only Neverland was a real place like you guys. Sure wish that the lands could also come to life. Or we could be so tiny we would explore these little replicas." Jess exclaimed.
"Imagine that" Jack said as they came up on Agrabah.
"There are also places like Agrabah, a city of mystery and enchantment. We're a street rat named Aladdin bumped into a princess named Jasmine in that very marketplace. He stole not only bread, but her heart as well. Though they were from two different worlds, by the power of love, and help from a genie, they were happily married inside the Sultan's palace."
Jack's face drooped as they floated under the rose-covered archways. "You alright Jack?" Jess asked.
Jack looked at Jess "I know I shouldn't have feelings for her anymore, but your sister, I still love her. I know she still has that heart of gold underneath her hatred."
Jess placed a hand on his shoulder. "I know how you feel, she, my sister and I still care for her. Will get her back, shill realize in time that she's on the wrong side."
"I hope you're right." Jack sighed as the cast member continued his spiel.
"These rose-covered archways above us are the very same ones that Aladdin and Jasmine took a very magical carpet ride, flying over, sideways, and under to a whole new world." They then came across a dimly lit cave, painted blue. "Now while all stories are filled with love and light, they also have their dark places. Place like the cave of wonders just ahead. Its treasure bares a curse that can only be lifted by the powers of the Genie of the lamp. It is said that whoever sets the Genie free will be given three wishes." They floated by a golden lamp that rested in the middle of the cave.
Arthur pointed at the lamp. "And that, my friends, is where Genie spends his days. but at night you can see him flying around with some of the fairies."
"Seems a little cramped to me," Amy inquired.
"Oh you'll be surprised at how big the inside of a lamp is, atleast, that's what Genie told me."
Eventually they came out of the cave and came across the Seven Dwarfs cottage. "I know that Snow white wished for a safe place to flee from the evil queen. She stumbled upon a cozy little cottage home to the Seven Dwarfs on our right. They offered her shelter in thanks for her kindness. If you listen closely, you may hear the whistling while working in their jewel mine." Unfortunately the music was so loud that they couldn't hear any whistling.
But to their left was the story of Cinderella. Her stepmother's house sits at the bottom of a hill, with the prince's castle all the way at the top. "Then we have Cinderella who wishes to go to the ball. Sadly her stepmother forbade it, lucky her fairy godmother granted her wish. But when Cindrella didn't leave by the stroke of midnight, her coach turned back into a pumpkin which you can still see right up on the mini bridge against the hillside. Though magic may have its limit, love thankfully doesn't. Now Cinderella lives happily with her prince in the castle."
"Eh, more like happily in a castle in central florida." Arthur jokes causing Jack and Jess to both laugh.
Amy just gave the confused look.
"You see Amy, there's not just this park, but there's 5 others across the world, each with their own unique castle." Jess explained as she finished laughing.
"The characters are split depending on where the park is located and what it offers." Arthur explained "if no park can be homed to a character then they simply live wherever there is extra room. But most live here."
"Then how do you guys see each other if you live in different parks?" Jack asked.
"Magic, I'll show you guys later. Not a topic that is good to bring up with the public."
"Dreams really do come true." the cast member said as they passed under a bridge and by a quilted landscape. "Whether that's happily ever after, or dreaming of drifting off to sleep on hills of quilted flowers just like the ont to our left hand side. This is inspired by the 1933 silly symphony cartoon, lullaby land. There's more magic everywhere here in storybook land. Even in the miniature tree that will never ever grow up, thanks to the enchantment of Tinkerbell and her fairy friends. That's just what makes this place a favorite of master storyteller, Walt Disney, who continues to inspire new stories every day."
Jess looked at Arthur "did you ever get to meet the man?"
"I did. A very long time ago when the park opened and we all magically appeared. He was a nice man." he sighed as he looked down." We miss him every day, but at least we can feel him everywhere here. He did a lot for us and each day we try to repay him by keeping his memory alive in any way we can."
"Walt Disney, he's the one who created you guys and all this, correct?" Amy asked, trying to recall the information her sister gave her.
Arthur nodded "the very same, not all of us were created by him, but he lives through all of us, one way or another."
"Stories just like the wind in the willows. Where Mole Rat and Mr Toad live in an estate manor just up ahead." They watched as they came up to a small little manor down by the river. "Unfortunately folks it looks like Mr Toad is not home right now, he's off on his motor car on a wild ride to nowhere in particular."
"And just beyond that we have the kingdom of Arendelle, the castle by the bay home to queen anna. And the ice castle that's rising above the mountains is home to elsa. The two sisters, Anna and Elsa, and their friend Olaf, Kristoff, and Sven found something more powerful than Elsa's ice magic, the power of true sisterly love."
"One day me and Tess will find that again." Jess said as she lowered her head. Jack wrapped an arm around her and gave her a hug.
"And while the Alpine village of wood carvers named Geppetto wished upon a star that his puppet would become a real live boy. After Pinnocio saved him from Monstro he became just that, a real boy." They looked up at the small village resembling the same one from Pinnocio.
"Now Geppetto wishes are like those found in so many classic fairy tales. Just like the one of the Little Mermaid named Ariel. She dreamed of following Eric to his castle." they looked at the castle that resembled Prince Eric's castle from the Little Mermaid. She had to give up her life under the sea to take her very first steps on unsteady leg and she eventually became apart of our world. Hers is a story that begins in the shadow of her father in the underwater city of Atlantica. Which closes our adventure here, and just like all adventures they end with a happily ever after. And as we close the final page in our fantasy book, I ask everyone to remain seated until the boat comes to a complete stop at the dock. We hope you enjoy the rest of your visit here with us at Disneyland today."
Going through all the stories gave Jack an idea "hey Arthur, is there a library inside the castle?"
"Sure dose, we have room for almost anything." he bragged "why?"
"Well if we're gonna be here, I think it's a good idea to do a bit of our own research. I'm sure there's some secrets about the park that even we don't know that could be beneficial in saving Tess." Jack explained.
"I like the way you think Jack, maybe there's a book on the park's history. Or a secret spot in the park so we can find their base!" Jess exclaimed with glee. "Jack, you're a genius!"
"And maybe I can get some answers to explain all this, cause frankly none of this makes sense." Amy stated.
"Alright, to the castle library we shall go."
When the boat reached the dock and stopped. They all got out of the boat and exited the attraction. Without another word, they all nodded an agreement to the castle they would go.
