Chapter 13: Portals to the Six Kingdoms

After what felt like hours of lessons, Sarah was on her last assignment, a history pop quiz. Usually, this stuff came easily to her. But after everything that had happened, her mind was in other places. By the time Yensid had come to retrieve her quiz, she had only answered half of the questions.

Yensid picked up the quiz, and upon inspection, was not pleased with the results. "Were you even paying attention at all?" Sarah looked down at her lap, ready to face whatever Yen Sid was about to say. "Honestly Sarah, if you plan on saving this kingdom, then you need to know its history."

Sarah sighed, and leaned back in her chair, looking away from her master. Yensid placed her quiz back down on the table "I know things have been crazy right now, but these are the times where you need to stay focused."

"Yes master" she mumbled just loud enough for him to hear.

"Go," Yen Sid said with a gentle smile "You have a half-hour break."

Sarah looked up at her master with shock. He usually had her working up till supper time. Then again she did have a rather early start to the day, and her sister and friends were in the kingdom. Not wanting to argue she quickly got up and raced out of the room.

Once Sarah was gone he entered his private chambers. It was a small room, furnished with a single bed, dresser, bookshelf, and mirror. He walked over to the bookshelf and pulled out the very same book Jess had shown him earlier. He knew there was magic inside it, he could feel it. He remembered when he first found it, not too long after Sarah found her way to the kingdom.

"I think it's time we hold a council meeting," he said to himself as he crossed over to the mirror. It was a long mirror, just as tall as Yen Sid. He raised his right hand and recited a spell "Through the glass a reflection I see, now I ask to be set free. Send a message near and far, a meeting for the Council of Protection is in store!"

The mirror then began to sparkle as Yensid's reflection changed to a recorded message. "Attention, I called an urgent council of protection meeting. Make way to my tower as soon as possible." The message itself repeated over and over again until Yensid waved his hand, returning it back to his normal reflection. It was time to get ready for the meeting.

Elsewhere in the castle, Sarah was on a search for her friends and sister. The first place she thought to check was the castle's living space. As she entered, she could only see Princess Aurora and Prince Philip cuddling each other on the sofa by the warm fire. She knocked on the doorframe getting the two's attention.

"Oh Sarah" Aurora smiled as she looked over "Is there something we can help you with?"

"I was wondering if you've seen Jack, Jess, and/or Amy?"

"Last I saw them they were exploring the castle, I think they were heading to the basement area," Philip responded.

"ok, I'll go see if I can find them. Thanks for the help." she turned to leave and as she did her face gave way to a confused look. 'Why are they in the basement part of the castle?'

The basement was what they referred to as the lowest level of the castle. It was a long, stone hallway with several doors. As Sarah continued further down the hall, she could feel their presence getting closer. She stopped in front of a door labeled "Portals to the Six Kingdoms." This room held a portal to every Disney kingdom on Earth. She opened the door which made a loud creak noise. Inside she found Jack, Jess, Amy, and Arthur who all jumped.

"Sarah, it's just you," Arthur said with relief as they all turned to face her.

"What are you all doing down this deep into the castle?" Sarah questioned as she closed the door. The room was small, just barely able to hold them all. Along the wall lined the portals to each of the kingdoms. The portals were in order like this: Disney World, Disneyland Paris, Tokyo Disneyland, Hong Kong Disneyland, And Shanghai Disneyland.

"I was just giving them the grand tour," Arthur said with a smile.

"Besides it will be good to know our way around, especially if we're gonna help," Jack stated.

Sarah crossed her arms "But this far into the castle Arthur? There is hardly anything here but this room and the restricted sections."

"Hey, I tried to tell them" Arthur put his hands up in defense. "But they wanted to explore so-"

Amy interrupted by saying "Let's just say we were gonna do it with him or not. But I'll have to admit, after everything I've seen today, I can see why you stayed."

Sarah sighed as she shook her head "Anyway I'm done with my lessons, for now. Maybe I can get Yensid to let me off for the night and we can watch the fireworks together."

"Why that sounds marvelous," Arthur said, wrapping an arm around Sarah.

"I second that, I haven't seen them since last year," Jack said.

"What are we celebrating then?" Amy questioned. She was used to fireworks being a celebratory thing, not a normal day-to-day event like Sarah and Arthur were used to.

"We're not celebrating anything," Jess said, "there just for entertainment. There are gonna be cool projections on the castle."

Amy raised a brow "Projections?"

"Maybe you should spend some time with Kida, she's good at explaining this stuff to newcomers." Arthur joked to which Sarah responded by elbowing him in the ribs.

"You'll see Amy." Sarah gave Arthur a bit of a playful cross look before looking at her sister "But with us stuck here, it's best if we start introducing you to everyone. And what better place than our fireworks viewing area."

"You guys have a viewing area?" Jess questioned with excitement.

Sarah nodded, "Of course, it's just hidden from the public eye." They were about to make their way to the door when a glow came from one of the five portals in the room.

Sarah raised a brow, why would someone be coming through the portal, especially that one? Sure, it wasn't uncommon for characters to bounce between parks. But very few resided in the Shanghai one. Her hand glided over her lightsaber just in case.

Eventually, the character stepped through and everyone gasped. In front of them stood a tall woman. She had blond hair and a blue dress with wings. She clutched a wand in her left hand and gave them all a gentle but surprised smile. "Why, I wasn't expecting this." Her voice sounded close to an angel's.

"Is that?" Jack asked, adjusting his glasses.

"Oh My Disney, you're the Blue Fairy!" Jess squealed with excitement.

"Who?" Amy questioned.

Sarah and Arthur both looked at each other, their faces asking the same question 'what's she doing here?"

"Sarah, shouldn't you be upstairs with the rest of the council? And who are all these people with you?" The Blue Fairy questioned.

"Well, this is my sister Amy, and my friends Jack, and Jess" She gestured to each of them and they all gave a wave. Though Jess was very enthusiastic. "As for why I'm not upstairs, He sent me on break. He didn't mention anything about a Council meeting."

"Does this mean you're not joining us?" Amy asked with a bit of frustration.

Sarah sighed once again. Only her master would schedule a last-minute council meeting "Guess not."

Their faces showed looks of disappointment, especially Amys and Arthurs. They all were looking forward to hanging out with each other. Amy really just wanted to be with her sister and Arthur just wanted to be with his best friend.

Just then another glow came from the Disney World portal. With this being a council meeting, Sarah already knew who was going through that portal. Stepping through was a shorter, older woman. She had a blue robe with a hood pulled over her white hair. A pink bow pined the robe over her purple dress. She glanced around the room with a confused expression "Am I missing something?" she scratched her head with the tip of her wand.

Jess's face lit up with excitement. She had so much excitement built up, that she ended up collapsing. Thankfully Jack managed to catch her just before she hit the ground. "Jess, are you alright?" He asked.

"It's them, it's really" she trailed off before she fainted.

"Is she alright?" The Blue Fairy asked.

Jack shrugged. "Probably, she's just excited and let the adrenaline get to her head." he then lay her on the ground.

Arthur put a hand on Sarah's shoulder "Why don't you go see what this meeting is all about? Maybe you're not even needed."

Sarah nodded "I'll ask him, hopefully, if I am needed it will only be for a little bit. How about I meet you guys at the fireworks spot?"

"Sounds good" and they shared a smile. Though she didn't want to admit it, she liked being around him, and he liked being around her.

"Sarah you coming?" the Blue Fairy asked from the door.

Sarah snapped herself out of Arthur's gaze "Coming!" She waved goodbye to her friends and followed the two fairies back up to Yen Sid's tower.
