Sarah followed the two fairies up the tall winding staircase to her master's study. Once they arrived at Yen Sid's study, they filed in one by one. Sarah was the last to enter, stopping at the doorway to see that Yen Sid had used his magic to remodel his study in order to accommodate everyone. Instead of the small wooden table, it was a large, round, stone table accompanied by nice leather-bound chairs. There were ten seats total, one seat per council member. Starting from the center going left were Flora, Fauna, Merriweather, Merlin, an empty chair for Sarah, Yensid, Mickey, Minnie, the Blue Fairy, and the Fairy Godmother.
"Master, why didn't you say you were gonna call a council meeting?" Sarah questioned as she made her way to her chair.
"I was going to tell you when you arrived. Now that you're here, you shall wait outside till your presence is required." Yensid announced from across the room.
Sarah stopped in the middle of the room. Why did she need to wait outside? "But if this is a council meeting, shouldn't I be present?"
"And you will, once we discuss matters that are not of your concern."
"Can I at least-"
"Sarah, this is not up for debate! Now go wait outside!"
Sarah crossed her arms and turned for the door, storming out and slamming it shut behind her. She then heard a click, probably Yensid using magic to lock it. She slouched onto the ground, sitting on the top step. Hopefully, whatever they were talking about, it wouldn't take long. She wanted to go hang out with her friends. One thing was for sure, this was gonna be a long night.
Back inside everyone muttered amongst themselves as to why Yen Sid wouldn't let Sarah attend the meeting.
"I now call the High Council of Protection to order!" Yensid called out into the room.
Everyone went silent and looked over at him. The council was set up so very few people knew of the star's location, hence the Council of Protection. Everyone knew of the star, but very few knew how to access it.
"You are probably wondering why I have called you all here tonight, and why I have excluded Sarah from this portion." He took a set and placed the book of Magical Music down on the table. "It has come to my attention that the book of Magical Music has resurfaced, by none other than the young Maiden Jessica." The group of characters looked astonished and puzzled.
"What is it you are saying, Yen Sid?" Merlin questioned.
"We all remember when the book first showed up, not too long after Sarah made her debut. And when it disappeared from the restricted section of the castle.'' Everyone nodded their heads. "Well according to Jessica, she found the book in the castle's main library, saying it was calling to her. We all know magical items have a way of coming back in a time of need, well I think that time is now!"
He opened the book to the first page and read "To those who are worthy of this book, come inside and take a look. These spells will keep this kingdom safe, along with a girl to save our race. To use this book you must be bold, and have a heart of gold, along with friends who will help wherever you go. Lastly, a girl connected to the star, only then will this kingdom be safe from harm." The room fell silent, except for a few gasps.
"Surely there must be a mistake?" The Fairy Godmother said.
"A young girl from the human world?" Flora said with wide eyes.
"We can't just send a human kid off into battle!" Marrywether stated.
Murmurs quickly turned into loud gossip. No one trusted a human, especially a child, with such a responsibility.
"Silence!" Yen Sid shouted. "I know we can't send a human child to fight our battles. But the book has made a choice, and she can use it." he closed the book shut "We must start preparing them for whatever is tossed in their direction."
"You mean this girl, Jess, has acutely used the book?" The Blue Fairy questioned.
Yen Sid nodded "That's one reason why I have asked you all here. We all need to prepare. And I need to figure out how to explain this to not just her, but the rest of them. Second order of business, we need a new hiding spot for the key."
Minnie's eyes immediately widened. She reached into one of her dress pockets and pulled out Walt's watch. "Here's the watch Yensid, Sarah has the other half."
Yen Sid used his magic to lift the watch over to him. He then sighed, clutching the watch in his hands. "Leave it to my young apprentice to not tell me she had the other half of the key."
"She is outside the room isn't she, why not just ask her?" Fauna suggested.
"But what of the book?" The Fairy godmother asked.
"I shall tell them tomorrow. Right now our main concern is the key, and the star itself. Till then no one is to speak of the book, not even to Sarah. Understand?" Everyone nodded. "Good" and with that, he waved his hands, and the door to his tower opened.
Sarah leans against the wall outside Yen Sid's study, wondering when she will be let in. Her mind had wandered onto other things, one being the book Jess found. Several questions ran through her head, why did the book call to Jess? Why would Yen Sid not tell her anything about it? And why did it zap her?
She pondered these questions till the door in front of her opened. "Finally" she muttered, taking that as her cue to enter. She stood and made her way inside. Everyone had their eyes on her, was she in trouble?
"Are you ready for me, master?" Sarah questioned with a bit of hatred.
"Sarah, where is the other half of the key?" Yen Sid questioned.
"What?" Sarah gave him a confused look, caught off guard by the question. She waited outside his study for almost thirty minutes just to be asked for the key's whereabouts.
"The second half of the key, where is the pen?" He folded his arms. He looked like he was running out of patience.
Sarah gulped, unsure how to answer the question. If they knew what she had done with the pen she would be in deep trouble. And if she lied, they would know. Small balls of sweat began to form on her forehead.
"Well?" Yen Sid questioned, slowly taping his fingers on the table now.
"Um, well, you see, I sort of-" her face turned bright red, she wasn't good at lying.
"Spill it!" He shouted.
"I trained it for my sister!" Sarah blurted out faster than you could say pixie dust. Everyone gasped, mouths hanging open, eyes looked like they were gonna come out of their sockets.
"You did what?!" Yen Sid shouted, standing up and slamming a fist down on the table. She was in for it now.
"Well Maleficent was gonna kill her if I-"
"Sarah, you know that that pen is dangerous in the wrong hands!"
Sarah's hands turned to fists. She was fed up with her master. He had pushed her to her breaking point. "At Least they don't have the other half! And when you haven't seen your sister in years and she looks injured, what else would you have done when an evil fairy said "give me the pen or she dies!"
"Congratulations then! You saved your sister and may have just put the whole kingdom in jeopardy!" Yen Sid retorted.
"But I didn't, they only have half the key, they can't access the star without the second half!" Sarah shouted across the room.
Merlin got up and put a hand on Yen Sid's shoulder. "Yen Sid, back away from the poor girl. You both have endured enough these last few days. The last thing we need is for you two to be at an all-out war."
"So they have the pen, what are the chances they will get the watch?" Mayweather questioned.
"They will figure it out! We know that the villains are capable of such, always figuring out how to get what they want!" Yen Sid spoke, looking like he was gonna lose it.
"But master, villains never win!" Mickey sated.
Yen Sid took a breath. "I suppose you're right, I just don't know what I would do if anything were to happen to the star or our home."
"No one wants harm to this kingdom, but Sarah has a reason. I know I would do the same if that were Arthur, and you would do the same if that were Sarah or Mickey." Merlin stated.
"I would find another way and then give up the key!" her growled, sharply turning his head to look at Merlin.
"But Yen Sid she is just a child, she doesn't have the knowledge like the rest of us," Mayweather said.
That comment pushed Sarah to erupt like a volcano. "Just a child!" she screamed. "If anything I'm but "Just a child." I'm a teen with powers, who has either been in hiding or hunted down for the past five years! And I just found my sister who I haven't seen in six, yet instead of getting praised for saving a group of people, I get reprimanded for giving the pen away!"
"Sarah calm yourself, I'm sure she didn't mean-'' Flora chimed in but Sarah wasn't having it.
"Didn't mean it, oh I think you all mean it!" she stomped her foot on the ground before turning and heading for the door. "Come get me when you all figure out what to do, 'cause I'm not gonna be in a room where I'm either gonna be talked down to! Or reprimanded for rescuing people!"
"Sarah wait I didn't-" Yen Sid began but Sarah had slammed the door on him.
Merlin placed a comforting hand on his shoulder "Give her time, shill come around. She is a teenager after all."
Yen Sid sighed "I hope you're Merlin, I hope you're right."
