The World Championships
Chapter 57 Goodbye Mexico
The next morning at half past seven, the twelve competing teams had cleared their rooms and had checked out of the hotel. After checking out of the hotel, they all stood in the car park with their cases. All of them were amazed at how far they had come, especially considering that none had been eliminated yet.
All the teams were in the taxis, which slowly drove them to Cancun International Airport where they would board a flight to Canada.
"Listen up, everyone, our flight is at ten o'clock so we have to be at the gate for ten minutes to ten."
"Which airline are we going on?"
"Westjet."
"Brilliant."
"Let's hope that we can win in Canada because it's elimination time if we lose."
"True that, Tyson, we have to win, we can't afford to be eliminated."
"Do you know who we're facing, chief?"
"the Death Stars."
"You mean the team Luna's on."
"Yes, Tyson, she's a bit emotional about her love for Tala but she's a strong blader."
"That's if she battles though."
"Yes, but we've seen her in action against Frozen Fortitude, Risk Factor, the Blitzkrieg Boyz and the Majestics and she's no pushover because even when she lost she still put up an incredible fight."
A long time passed with all the traffic, but nobody seemed to mind because the sites of Chichen itza were still visible.
"Chief, do you know what flight we're on?"
"Yes, we're on Westjet Flight 2793."
"That's good, how long is the flight?"
"Three hours and thirty minutes."
"That's good."
After a long time, the twelve taxis arrived at Cancun International Airport. One by one they disembarked from the taxis, taking all their baggage with them.
Aeroplanes roared through the air, taking off and landing in sync with each other. A huge Air Canada Boeing 747 thundered overhead.
The airport was packed with lots of people, some were arriving while others were leaving.
"Well, everyone, we're off to Canada now."
"Frozen Fortitude have the hometown advantage."
"That means they'll be presenting another challenge to whoever they face."
"Very true, chief."
"That doesn't mean we can't beat them."
"Yes but that's not to say that we get complacent."
"We have to beat them."
"I'm confident that we will."
"Everyone, there isn't a lot of time, let's get our toilet breaks done and sort out passports and boarding passes."
"Let's do it."
The G-Revolutions swiftly used the toilet and reconvened at the shopping arcade for Kenny to hand out the passports.
Seconds later, an announcement came over the speakers.
"Everyone travelling on Westjet Flight 2793 please go to the departure lounge."
"Let's get going."
"It's off to Canada."
"Whatever."
Now seated in the departure lounge, the G-Revolutions were waiting patiently for the announcement to board the plane. Not long passed before the announcement was made.
"It is now time to board Westjet Flight 2793."
Upon hearing the instruction, the G-Revolutions stood up and boarded the Westjet Boeing 737 and took their assigned seats.
"Good morning, everybody and welcome on board Westjet Flight 2793 from Mexico to Canada. We shall be flying for three hours and thirty minutes. We are first in line for take off will be in the air very soon. You are to fasten your seatbelts at this time. Please make sure that all your baggage is properly secured. Furthermore, your seats and table trays must be upright. All personal electronic devices must be switched off and smoking is strictly forbidden during the flight. Thank you for choosing Westjet. Enjoy your flight."
Westjet Flight 2793 taxied down the runway and lifted into the sky with a roar. Mexico slowly turned more and more like a toy town.
