The World Championships
Chapter 58 The Call Of Canada
It was three thirty in the afternoon when the twelve teams arrived at Toronto Pearson International Airport. One by one, the twelve planes were parked and attached to the exit tunnels. The captain made a farewell speech to the passengers.
"Good afternoon, everybody, we are in Toronto, Canada, thank you for flying with Westjet. I hope you enjoy your time here and we look forward to flying with you again in the future. For those of you who are competing in the Beyblade world championships I wish you all the best of luck."
After the captain's farewell address, the G-Revolutions stood up and exited down the tunnel. They made their way through lots of people in order to get to baggage reclaim.
Once they were in the terminal, the G-Revolutions made their way to meet the other bladers who were reclaiming their baggage. Everyone gradually reclaimed their possessions.
With their baggage and possessions in hand, the twelve teams made their way to the taxi park. Once there, the taxi drivers put the bags into the taxis. Gradually, the bladers filled the taxis which would take them to the Fairmont Royal York Hotel.
One by one, the taxis now drove away from the airport and to the hotel. Traffic filled the road and much to everyone's dismay the journey was prolonged. However, the excitement for the next round kept everyone's spirits high.
In one taxi, Frozen Fortitude were anxiously discussing the next round, for they feared that their elimination was fast approaching.
"This could well be our final stand."
"It would be terrible to lose in our hometown, especially considering that we have the hometown advantage."
"We can only do our best, but even if we end up out it's been a hell of a ride."
"We've worked hard to get this far and we've fought some tough teams, it would be shame to lose but we have a lot to be proud of."
"This is a big match for us and we've got one shot at it, it may well end badly but at the same time we will give it our absolute best. It would be a shame to lose but one thing's for sure it's been great fun and quite a journey, we've made friends and grown as people as well."
As Frozen Fortitude made their last vows to give it their best, the taxis drove through all the sites of Toronto before pulling up at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel.
Once in the carpark, the many bladers had their suitcases removed and they took them into the lobby where they checked in. After checking in, the room keys were given out to everyone.
After receiving the room keys, everyone except Tala and Luna went upstairs.
"Shall we get a snack, Tala?"
"I don't see why not, Luna."
Tala and Luna linked arms and walked out of the hotel, down the streets towards the high street.
"What are you thinking food wise, Luna?"
"Shall we go for a walk and see what's what first?"
"Yeah, I don't mind."
The two lovers walked arm in arm down the street, taking in all the sights and sounds of Toronto. From its bustling streets to its picturesque beaches.
However, they just wanted to get some snacks first.
"Let's get a Costa and then have it on the beach."
"Good idea, Luna."
Tala and Luna walked up towards a Costa and entered, both picked up a panini and drink before going up to pay.
"I'll pay, Tala."
"Luna, it's fine, I can pay."
"No, Tala, I'll do it."
Luna gave the paninis and placed an order for milkshakes, she waited patiently for them to get done. After they were done she paid her debt.
With their paninis and milkshakes in hand, Tala and Luna linked their free hands and walked out to the beach, where they sat down, relaxed, ate and drank on the soft sand.
"So, Luna, how are you feeling about the match?"
"My match or tomorrow's match?"
"Both."
"To be honest, Tala, I'm looking forward to both but I'm nervous that my team will lose, to make matters worse this is elimination round so anyone could be out. How are you feeling about it all?"
"Well, Luna, its been quite a journey so far and I know that some will be eliminated but others will stay, who will go and who will stay is something none of us know. However, what I can assure you, is that everyone will give it their best."
"That's true, but who knows what the outcomes will be."
"It'll definitely be sad for those who lose and leave."
"At the same time though they'll give it their best."
"Have you enjoyed your time in the tournament?"
"I sure have, Tala, all the battles I've had have been such fun but also the fact we're together and in love. It seems really sad that my team might be eliminated but at the same time it has been so much fun. Have you enjoyed yourself?" Luna's eyes welled with tears which flowed gently down her cheeks as she spoke, Tala wrapped his arm round her shoulders, she reciprocated the affection with her own arm round his waist.
"Well, Luna, all I can say is that its been a wild journey, some teams will go but I've enjoyed it a lot, especially meeting you."
Darkness soon descended over the beach, Tala took out his phone and took a selfie of him and Luna together before they got up. Luna also took a photo of the sun as it fell just above the sea. However, she also took a selfie with Tala.
The two star-crossed lovers wrapped their arms round each other's waists and strolled back to the hotel.
Luna was continually shivering as she and Tala made their way back, not because of the cold but because of her fear of the dark.
"Luna, you don't need to be scared of the dark, it can't hurt you."
"It's just a fear that doesn't leave me alone, Tala."
"I'm not going to let anyone hurt you, Luna."
"Nor will I ever let any harm come to you, Tala."
The two star-crossed lovers made their way back to the hotel, before walking up to their rooms. Luna threw her arms round Tala's neck, tears flowed down her cheeks, Tala wrapped his arms round her waist, he slowly ran his hand up her back.
"I love you, Tala."
"I love you too, Luna, see you tomorrow."
"You too, Tala."
Tala brushed Luna's constant tears off of her cheeks and the two reluctantly parted company until morning.
