The World Championships
Chapter 72 Last Layover
Two hours and ten minutes later, all twelve planes had arrived at O'Hare International Airport in Chicago, Illinois. The planes were towed to the exit tunnels for everyone to depart.
Upon reaching the exit tunnels, all the teams gradually began to leave the planes. Soon, they entered the spacious airport lobby, where they reclaimed their baggage. After reclaiming their baggage, the teams separated off but Tala and Luna decided to go somewhere together.
"Where are we going, Luna?" asked Tala.
"It wouldn't be a surprise if I told you." Luna replied. "Now come with me on a little date."
Tala and Luna linked arms and walked away together. They noticed Oliver leaving with Cordelia but those two were going somewhere different.
Luna led Tala along the airport, they saw countless shops and restaurants until they stopped at Nando's.
"Here we are, Tala."
"Nando's?" asked Tala. "It's this the place."
"Yes." Said Luna.
Temporarily releasing each other, Tala and Luna soon entered Nando's which was full to the brim.
"Could I have a table for two, please?" Luna asked.
"Right this way."
Tala and Luna made their way to a table with two menus, they sat opposite each other and looked at the menus.
"Any thoughts on what you want to eat?" asked Tala.
"Probably a Sunset Burger with corn on the cob." Said Luna. "What about you, Tala?"
"Most likely Butterfly Chicken with coleslaw, Luna." replied Tala. "I'm happy to pay for you."
"No, Tala, I'll do it."
"It's fine, Luna, I'll handle it." Tala answered.
"Honestly, Tala, I'll take care of it."
"Fine, but I'll get dessert."
"Sounds fair, there's a Treatz not far from here."
Luna stood up and made her way to the counter. Upon reaching it, she stood there patiently.
"Please may I have a Sunset Burger and corn on the cob and large Butterfly chicken with coleslaw."
"That'll be twenty-one dollars and nineteen cents."
Luna reached into her purse and paid with her debit card.
"Thanks."
"No problem."
The order placed, Luna returned and sat opposite Tala.
"Shall we get drinks?"
"Yes, Luna."
Tala followed Luna's lead to fill up their glasses with Fanta. With glasses full, the two lovers sat back down.
Not long after the food arrived, Tala's Butterfly Chicken was set in front of him. Luna happily received her Sunset Burger and corn on the cob.
With their food in front of them, the two star-crossed lovers tucked in.
"How's your corn on the cob, Luna?"
"Amazing thanks, Tala, how about your Butterfly Chicken and coleslaw?"
"Really good, Luna." Said Tala. "Thanks for buying it."
"You're welcome, Tala, I love you, and it was my pleasure."
"I love you too, Luna, you're my girl and always will be."
"As you're my boy forever, Tala." Luna affirmed through loving tears.
The two lovers savoured every mouthful of their meals and enjoyed each other's company.
"I can't believe we're at the final stages of the tournament." Said Tala
"It feels like yesterday that we were in Spain for the first round." Luna agreed.
"I know the feeling, it's been quite a journey." Tala answered
"Yes, I know that we got eliminated but at the same time we survived far." Said Luna.
"You definitely did a great job to get to the quarter finals, Tyson definitely pulled a big victory." Added Tala
"He beat my friend Ivy." Luna responded. "Ivy had it won but Tyson pulled one out of his hat."
Tala and Luna happily ate their lunch and enjoyed each morsel slowly. After a long time they had finished.
"We've still got a good three hours before we fly, Tala." Said Luna. "Shall we go Treatz?"
"Yes definitely, Luna."
With arms wrapped round each other's waists, Tala and Luna made their way to Treatz and sat down opposite each other.
"What you thinking of ordering, Luna?" asked Tala.
"Well, Tala, that is a very difficult question." Luna read through the menu. "What about you?"
"That's a good question, Luna." Tala was also glancing at the menu. "Most likely a sundae."
"Which one?"
"Bubblelicious." Said Tala. "Have you decided yet?"
"Yes I'll probably go for a Strawberry Indulgence crepe."
"Be right back, Luna."
Tala quickly went to the counter, "please may I have a Bubblelicious Sundae and a Strawberry and white chocolate crepe."
"That'll be fourteen dollars and fifty cents."
Tala touched his debit card on the machine and paid. He then went and sat opposite Luna again.
It wasn't long before the food arrived, it was set professionally on the table.
"Shall we eat?"
"Yes."
Tala eagerly started eating his Bubblelicious Sundae, Luna began on her Strawberry Indulgence crepe.
"How's your Sundae, Tala?"
"Amazing, thanks, Luna, what about your crepe?"
"I love it, thanks for buying it for me, Tala."
"You're welcome, Luna, I love you."
"I love you too, Tala." Luna brushed her tears away as she professed her love for Tala.
"It's amazing how fast the tournament has gone."
"I know right, it's literally the finals now."
"Only three teams are left."
"Yes, the Majestics, the G-Revolutions and my team."
"That's a triple threat for the title."
"How exciting will that be?"
"Definitely a death match."
"Especially in that the sudden death round decides the finals, it's almost like a play."
"It's like it's building up to the final act."
"There's always that premonition."
"Yes, Luna, that build up to the last act is always suspenseful."
After finishing their dessert, Tala and Luna slowly got up.
"What's the time, Luna?"
"Looks to me like we might have to get a move on."
Sure enough, Luna was right for an announcement came on.
"All those boarding United Airlines Flight 881 to Haneda International Airport, please go to the departure lounge!"
Every single blader made their way to the departure lounge, an exit tunnel was attached to the United Airlines plane outside. Starting with the G-Revolutions, they all gradually boarded and filled the plane.
"Tala, I'll see you on the other side, I love you so much!" Luna flung her arms round Tala's neck, loving tears were flowing down her cheeks.
"I love you too, Luna." Tala wrapped his arms round Luna's waist and they kissed sweetly before sadly parting and boarding the planes.
All the competitors and spectators were excited for the finals of the Beyblading World Championships. The planes roared into the sky and away from America.
