A/N: so I am not going to give this story a schedule, because it is so complex, all of the episode pieces have been written for first season. all of the medical parts were posted first half of the season. all that is left is the fun, so it should be good. second season will take a while because I still have to write the medical parts and the episodes... once those things are written, then the story goes more smoothly. each season has three parts. and cool special events. this part is angsty. Sorry. but I was feeling all of the pressure Jade was going through there was a disconnect with her lady. so we gotta deal with that. enjoy! S.K.
Ep. 5: Party Planner
"Julia saddled me into planning her Bachelorette party. I don't even know her!" Amy said, leaning back on Tara and Jojo's couch.
Jo smirked and handed her friend a glass of wine and plopping down next to her. "It isn't like you know a party planner that could take it off your hands."
"Oh please, she couldn't afford me…" Tara stated.
"Why not?" Lisette stated playing something on her phone. "Fuck!"
"Yeah Tara, it isn't like you work for that overpriced event coordinator anymore." Amy stated.
"Think of it this way," Jo said, putting her feet up. "This way you can start building up connections and be your own boss for a change."
Tara sits dumbfounded. "What?"
"I mean you said it yourself Tara, you were the best she had, get a few parties under your belt then set your price." Jo finished.
"And you can give your pal Amy a price break! Like I'll just pay for what you use and no extra fees?"
"When's the party?' Tara asked.
"Next weekend…" Amy looked at her sheepishly.
"You're fucking with me right?" Tara said.
"It's your pressure cooker," Lisette stated. "If you pull this off, think of the notoriety."
"Yeah… Okay, I'll do it!"
It was my last scene of the season. I was elated and tired, and sad all at once. I had forgotten what it was like to work on a project with people you liked. Doing work that you loved. Not that I disliked being a Dr. I loved the surgery part of it, and the kids. It's the whole… human connection with the parents I had an issue with.
I wandered over to my mark. Wish happened to be in the middle of the Living room set. Boxes littered the living room. JoJo was about to move out from the Echo Park apartment, and go for her fellowship. Tara was supposed to talk her out of it. Again, the lines left more to be desired. But if Tori and I put the nuances in, this could be convincing.
"And Action!" The director said and I watched as Tori transformed into Tara. I didn't concentrate on what she was saying. I just knew what she had to say before I spoke. So I watched my girl allowing the Awe to filter out through my eyes. I needed the audience to see how I felt about her. Then I thought about leaving her for a fellowship. I opened my mouth and I literally choked on the words I have to go… then I shook my head so that I could speak. "You're my person." I whispered.
Tori reached out for my hand. She smiled at me "Then Stay…" she whispered. "Please Stay."
"And Cut! That's a wrap on JoJo And Tara For the season!" The director stated. I smirked at my girlfriend and she hugged me tightly to her.
"We did it!" Tori said in my ear.
"Yes we did."
"Hey," Aisha Dee, the actress playing Lisette, came up to us.
"Yo," I said, letting go of my girlfriend.
"Hey!" Tori said in that Tori way she always did in high school. The one that I wish I would get, because it meant she was excited and smiling. Which was rarely directed at me. I felt a pang of jealousy because again it was not directed at me. "What's going on?"
"Wrap Party," Aisha said. "My Place? Since the pandemic has completely killed big communal stuff it's just the cast, and Aurdry."
I nodded. Tori smiled. "Yeah this is kind of crazy. The protocols are so important now."
"Cool." She said smiling brightly at me then headed toward her trailer.
"I'm off tomorrow right?" I asked her as I wrapped my arm around Tori.
We walked toward our Trailer. We each had one, but Tori just stayed at mine all the time so most of her stuff was there. She had packed her things long before. It is amazing how much you accumulate in the span of 10 weeks.
"Yeah, hey how did that surgery go?" She asked all of her interest in me and what I did. Like her life wasn't infinitely more interesting than mine. This is why I loved this woman.
Later that evening I watched My girlfriend be the social butterfly she always was. We and the other two girls that made up the core cast had gotten pretty close. It was strange. Because I already had a pretty close group. But Tori and I really liked Aisha and Katie. The two of them had worked together before, and it was like the two of then and the two of us with our preferred cliques blended well.
Katie dropped down next to me with a sigh. "So Back to the real grind?"
"Yup, not that I ever stopped," I said and chuckled low. I drank from a bottle of beer in my hand.
"I don't know how you do it."
"I already know all the medical stuff… Half the time I was Dr. Bringham, I was saying what I'd say instead of relying on the script." I laughed. "Messed everyone else up though."
Katie laughed. "I guess if you have to do double time being a doctor on TV would be best."
"Truly, I told you their medical scripting is really bad."
"Once the show is out, do you think you will be able to practice the same way?" She asked. "Well… Ken had to quit his practice."
"Ken didn't enjoy being a doctor." I answered.
"Really?" she asked
I shrugged. "I don't know. I'd love to meet him though."
"I think you will… you are a really good actress. And it was awesome working with you this season."
"Here's for season two." I said, raising my bottle toward hers.
She smiled and tapped her bottle with mine. "To Season Two."
Just then Tori came over to us. She sat in my lap. And let Aisha sit between me and Katie. "So it looks like we are all doing the promo on the Drew Barrymore show." Aisha said.
"Then I have Kimmel and Today," Tori stated.
"I got some too all solo though." Katie said
"Yes I got a solo for the Tonight show." Aisha said.
Then they looked at me. "I just have the one… Dr. West is busy and a nobody."
Aisha laughed. "Enjoy this season, next season will be different." she said.
"Why do you say that?" I asked.
"Because, JoJo is hot, and Gay, and the JoTera Ship, even though it's Cannon… it is the thing that will drive a lot of the fandom." Aisha said.
I laughed. "Okay, well then I'll deal if it does happen. It could be like Schitt's Creek and catch fire in the final season."
"Here's to more than one Season!" Aisha said and thrusted her glass up in the air. The rest of the cast on the other side of the room raised their assorted bottles and glasses and cheered.
About a week later, the entire Cast of Elysian Heights were on a Zoom Call to the Drew Barrymore show. Drew had a bit of a reputation for fangirling on people she has known for ages, but she also liked to introduce new people to greater audiences. Which is the reason that this was the interview I was present for.
Tori and were in Tori's house sitting side by side on her couch holding hands. "Oh my god Tori! Long time no see!"
"Yeah I saw you last Fashion week. How are you settling in New York?"
"I love it here. And you're back home?"
"I am, I had to come back and find the love of my life." This was my cue to smile.
"Jade West, you are new to the scene." Drew said. "This is your first show?"
"That I get paid for. I went to Hollywood arts with Tori."
"So you are well prepared. But your life took a bit of a different turn?"
"It did. I am a pediatric surgeon at Children's Hospital, Los Angeles" I stated.
The audience oohed and ahhed at my profession. "Wow! You still are?"
"Yeah, making this show has been a fun dream vacation for me." I stated.
Everyone laughed. "So, your character JoJo…"
"Yeah, she's the doctor. It makes it easier to remember my lines." I stated everyone laughed again.
"I think that when we do characters that we are familiar with, we make them so much more believable on screen. I think I will be enjoying this show a lot. The four of you ladies, good luck with this new adventure. I am so glad to see you all back on the screen, and welcome Jade to the sisterhood."
I smiled and waited until Drew called for commercials before I moved. Then I stood from Tori's couch. "Babe we have to hurry and go on these house tours."
"Okay," Tori said. "I will talk to you soon Drew, we gotta catch up."
"Absolutely, love you guys, Jade nice to meet you."
"Same," I said and waved and Tori disconnected the zoom call. "Lets go get our house."
Tori smiled and we headed off to the bedroom to get Chloë ready.
Ep. 6: Specialize
"If you pick Cardio, you get to work with Dr. Park who is just so… hot." Andrew said as he and Jo walked out of A vascular conference on a Monday afternoon.
"Nuro is more of a challenge though." Jo stated as they turned into the Cafeteria.
"But doctor Burks…" he said, pulling a face. "I mean not bad to look at but he is an asshole."
Jo smirked. "Are you choosing your fellowship through your libido?"
"I mean if I have to kiss your ass it might as well be a fine ass." Jo laughed, grabbing some food.
"I can see your point." Jo said furrowing her brows, "Dr. Park, she…"
"I knew it!" he said. "You're into her!"
"Uh… It's the other way around." The raven haired physician stated paying for her meal.
"Oh you are so in…" He started then stopped himself, as Dr. Park came up to them.
"Dr. Denton, Dr. Brigham," the Asian woman said, letting her eyes linger on the younger woman's cleavage. What she could make out of it. "Dr. Brigham, I wanted to extend an invitation to Join the Cardiovascular Fellowship personally. I have been impressed by your continued work."
Jo's eyebrows almost met her hairline. "Thank you."
Then Dr. Park smiled a really sultry smile. "I can't wait to have you under me." Then she walked away.
Jo and Andrew stood there stunned. "Shit, Jo…"
"Yeah… Shit."
Later that day, Trina Tori, Chloë and I pulled up the hill at Vista Dr. a really old area in Malibu. Right next to this massive mansion, there was a much humbler house, that was fortified with a fence, to suit the celebrity that Tori is, but is enough that I could afford on my own as a physician.
The drive to Children's was already going to be super hard, but it was worth it. The fence was white with black slats. The realtor, who was driving ahead of us, palmed the code into the gate and the massive black slat gate began to swing into this cobbled driveway it was long and about two lanes wide, so Tori and I could pass by each other and not have to wait for either of us to leave in order to pass through.
The first thing I noticed once we approached the house, is that the side of the house is the first thing you see. There isn't a garage, but a covering, that was littered with work out equipment that can be used as covered parking.
"That's an interesting Idea… but I don't want to have work out equipment the first thing I see." I stated.
"Deffinitely not… nor do I want the cars to be the first thing either… I hope the inside is better." Tori said looking at the modern and very square house. It was super humble next to the mansions up the hill.
We stepped out of the cars after we pulled around a pretty little tree that forced a circular drive at the front of the house. I stood and stared at the house. I really don't know what to think of it I am a little underwhelmed. All of the pictures online were of internal parts of the house and I was thinking maybe it wasn't real.
"Just wait till you see the inside." The realtor said.
"Really it's very you Tor." Trina stated.
Chloë looked up at me. "Mommy? Are we going to live here?"
I looked down at the little girl. "Do you like it?" I asked.
"They have a big yard." she responded. "Can we get a doggie?"
I chuckled, "we will see." I said and stepped forward toward the house. The front door was Glass… Cool, but… weird. I wondering if we could turn it to fogging glass so that no one can see inside… like the gardener, because who the hell was going to mow the lawn if we were always working.
"Here we are. The foyer is narrow , but that's the only narrow thing believe me." The Realtor said and I stepped into the doorway.
There was a wall directly in front of the door, which I suppose was smart to keep people from seeing inside the house right away. I turned to the left and saw a staircase leading down to a basement, and on the right it opened up to a large room naturally lit because there were windows everywhere. "Wow" Chloë whispered.
"You like it?" Tori stated looking at the room in awe herself. The white room was accented by exposed beams in the ceiling, the first window is on the front of the house. It is a box window, with a bench built at the bottom. The bench is so huge you can actually take a nap on it.
"That whole dining room situation is super smart." I stated seeing the dining table next to the window bench. It just felt so homey for a very modern house. To my right there was a kitchen with a large island and the rest of the space was living room. Which opened up at the far wall with a wall to wall sliding door, opening up to a Black pergola area, and an outdoor kitchen.
"This is so cool." Tori said I could see all of the nights she would invite the gang over to just be here with us. And I smiled because I would love every minute of it.
"Yeah," I said with a smile.
We stepped outside and the pergola spanned the length of the house. On the side of the living room there was the outdoor kitching and dining. On the other side was more outdoor seating and an outdoor fireplace. There was also a Jaccussi instead of a pool, which was fine by me so I wouldn't worry so much about Chloë, though Tori frowned.
"You want the pool don't you?" I asked.
She nodded.
"Look over the cliff Tori… that is a massive pool." I stated
"The view is something else isn't it?" Trina asked her sister and walked out on to the back yard with Chloë.
"The space is perfect for entertaining." The Realtor stated.
We nodded. "Lets go look at more of this house… so far so good." I stated stepping back into the house.
"To the right of the kitchen, are all of the bedrooms" The realtor stated and we headed in that direction. We went left first, to see the bathroom where there would be all of the bath times. And chloe's place to sleep… and our guest room.
They were decent sizes and bright and airy. And I looked at my girlfriend. "We have room for one more kid."
She looked at me; her eyes wide at first. Then she smiled widely. "You want more?"
"With you?" I asked. And she hugged me in the little room, her lips just brushing my bottom lip.
Chloë bounded into the room we were standing in. "This is MY room! And Alyssa can come and sleep over here!"
We chuckled. "Come on Tori, lets go check out where we will have our sleepovers" I said and pulled her back to the other end of the hall, back toward the back yard where the Mater bedroom had a glass wall. Another wall to wall door bringing our bedroom to the outside world.
"Beautiful!" Tori said…" its so unexpected."
I nodded and looked at all three closets. And one in particular that we walked through to get to the master bath. Which was super white… and definitely needed re plumbing in the shower to fit the shower head Tori and I loved. But the fixtures were beautiful and modern with Veralux skylights. So much light flowed into the bathroom. It just felt so big.
"The main level is so amazing I am so ready to see what it looks like in the basement." Tori said to the realtor.
"That's where all the fun happens." She said, leading the way back toward the set of stairs we saw as we walked into the house. It's a great family rec area. That you can set up as a playroom for your little one and spend family movie nights."
The stairs were a bit narrow. But I think it's good as I am not afraid taht Chloe will fall over the side of the stairs as I was at my house.
It was indeed a large open area. Staged on one side as a family room with a media wall. And there were the glass doors that lead out to the covered driveway.
There was also a laundry room down there and another full bath. There was another door and Tori opened it. "Babe, I can convert this into my studio." she said, stepping in to the large unfinished area.
I nodded. "That's a great idea.. What do you think?"
"I think we have some other houses to see… but this one is pretty tops."
Every other house we saw that day in our price range was much too opulent or not up to the standards for a child… Tori and I sat on the couch that night cuddled watching TV after we put Chloë to bed. Tori ran her hands through my hair. "I love that little house. On Sea Vista Dr." Tori whispered.
I looked up at her. "I do too… I think we found it."
She smiled. "I think we did." Tori texted the realtor and wrapped her arms around me. "And now I have all of the press tour for the show, and I am going to be gone for two weeks."
I flipped over and settled atop her. "So we better get sexy as much as we can, before our schedules go to shit." I stated.
She laughed and wrapped her entire body around me and we made love on the couch in the living room. Then on the island in the Kitchen she cornered me as I tried to get us some drinks… then up against the wall before we got to our room, with my hand covering her mouth so that Emma and Chloë wouldn't wake.
We finally made it to bed where she made me scream all night long.
When I woke up the next morning, Tori was gone. She had an early flight to the east coast for a press junket.
I sighed, I kind of wanted to cry. I missed her.
What is my life right now? I walked to the kitchen where Emma and Chloë were eating. "Good morning Emma and Chloë"
"Morning Dr. West."
"Jade, Please." I stated as I pressed a kiss on my daughter's forehead.
"Jade."
"Hi mommy," the little blonde said. "I told Emma about our new house!"
"Which one?" I asked
"You know, the one with the big windows that looks like a box," she said excitedly.
"That's a bit far out no?" Emma asked worriedly.
"Don't worry I am getting a family car, that you will be able to drive when you need to." I stated, understanding her worry. Malibu was out on the PCH, not quite a suburb, but totally a suburb. One hour and a half away from the Hospital, in traffic.
"The things celebrities do for privacy right?" Emma stated.
I nodded in agreement and headed to the bedroom to finish getting ready for my day.
Ours later, I sat in my office reviewing labs for Layla. She was doing well. And it was time to discharge the little girl to the care of her parents. When my phone rang. I answered and the sound of my excited girlfriend on the other end made me smile. "Babe… what is going on?"
"I got nominated for a grammy!" She shouted excitedly.
"What? Babe!" I said listening to her excited chatter over a song that she co wrote with Andre. They Share credit and it is their first grammy. I always thought the two of them worked best together. "That's awesome."
"I'm staying til Saturday night, 'Dre is doing SNL, and he is singing our song."
"So, I have to spend four nights without you?' I asked.
"Babe… you're happy right?" Tori said her anxiety beginning to peak out in her voice.
I know I am notoriously possessive, that was because with Beck I was so sure he would leave me, because I was always on the verge of leaving him. But Tori has loved me as long as I have loved her. My insecurities were not the same.
"Of course I am happy for you." I said, "I'll just miss you. You were gone when I woke up this morning, and that is not my favorite way to wake up."
I could hear the smile return to her. "I love you so much."
"I love you too. Slay SNL babe."
"Go save some lives my love." She said softly. And then she hung up and I sat in my office immobile for a few moments. Just thinking about the direction my life was taking. Is this what I wanted?
"Dr. West?" Ryan said, sticking her head into my office.
I blinked and looked toward her. "What's up?"
"Your Eleven thirty is here," She said and I looked at the clock. It was eleven forty five. I have been sitting here for fifteen minutes longer than I had intended.
"Please tell me it isn't Seth Johnson. " I groaned.
"I can't do that." She said with a smirk.
I groaned and stood to greet a seriously overprotective parent. "Days like these, I think Ken Jeong had the right idea."
She laughed and headed back to her desk.
Ep. 7: Landing the Big Fish
"This is the best party ever!" Julia said, hugging Tara. "Here I want you to meet someone."
The drunk bride pulled her over to a private table at the Venue. A young African American girl was sitting there wearing sunglasses. She had a gemstone surgically implanted on her forehead and Tara wished Jo was there to tell her how anyone could possibly make that happen.
But then again Plastics wasn't Jo's thing. She shook her head and smiled. "This is my friend Lauren, she and I grew up together."
Tara smiled and extended her hand. Lauren took it. "A pleasure."
"You pulled this whole party together?" Lauren asked. Tara Nodded. "It was turnt. You think you can pull off an album release?"
"Album Release?" Tara asked
"Lauren is Lil' Muffin," Julia stated.
"Wow, Oh my god I didn't even recognize you in the corner like that."
Lauren smiled. "As was the point. Listen I have a huge concept for this album and I want a Release party that catches attention, I would love to sit down and talk."
Tara smiled. "Absolutely, she reached into her pocket and pulled out her phone. "I have a digital card, I can drop it to your phone and you can call me tomorrow to set up an appointment when you have the time."
Lauren smirked, "Nah… You better get your appointment now, it's how you catch the big fish."
"I am available tomorrow at two?" Tara jumped on the opportunity.
"Two… Okay. " Lauren smiled. "That's more like it."
Tara smiled and left her famous guest giddy.
The week without Tori was super interesting. Like We weren't back together at all, right. I would visit my patients in rounds after my morning appointments. No one knew who I was, and then Wednesday, the interview with Drew hit the air…. While it was on, a Parent was sitting with an infant patient that had come in with complications from a heart valve resection.
The mother was rocking her baby watching Drew Barrymore and smiling. I glanced up at the screen and blushed. I didn't know what to say until the woman looked away. From the screen.
"Boy Drew's show is just a breath of fresh air." She said with a smirk, then looked at me. Her eyes widened and she looked at the TV and then at me. "I thought you were joking."
I laughed then. "No… I really do work here."
"Wow, everyone really is an actor in this city."
"Yeah," I said with a chuckle. "I have great news for you…" I went on to let the woman know she could take her baby home.
It happened again later that day when I sat in the cafeteria, while I was looking over the Appraiser's notes on the house. "You're the Doctor that is on that show with the friends on HBO."
I looked up startled and a teen patient and her best friend, Sister? I don't know what. "Yeah," I said.
"So Cool," The patient said. "Can I have your autograph?"
"Mine?" I asked.
"Yeah, because maybe I can be whoever I want to be. You get to be a Doctor and famous and whatever you want. Maybe I can too." The patient said.
"What is your name?" I asked reaching for the sharpie in my pocket.
"Victoria, Like your girlfriend!" she said and blushed.
I looked at her and smiled, "No wonder I like you." I said kindly and signed a napkin on the table. Victoria, Meeting you was a Dream! Keep fighting the good fight, Dr. West.
She looked at the napkin and smiled. "Thanks Dr. West." She said
"I hope You're out of here fast." I answered. She nodded and the two girls headed out of the cafeteria. I blinked the bemusement away and concluded that was just today's hysteria. I would be fine the rest of the week.
I was wrong.
The inquiries for my practice increased about fifty percent. I had to stop accepting new patients except for emergency situations. I thought this would happen eventually if the show was good, but not before the show even premiered.
I was not sure I could do this, and without Tori around, I was overwhelmed. When Tori got home on Sunday Night, I was laying in bed Nervous because I had heard from her earlier. And she had gone straight into the Studio with Andre when she got back. They had work shopped some song on the flight and wanted to get it down on the track.
She got home at about One in the morning. She sort of staggered into the room and I sat up in bed watching her silhouette undress and stagger to our bed and just drop next to me half naked. She reeked of pot and booze and I just panicked.
"Did you drive here!?" I asked and startled her. Then she smiled..
"Baby…." she cooed and got really close to me. "I'm so much smarter than that. "I took an Uber."
"I thought you were working." I said.
"I was, and me and Andre had some drinks." She trailed off and began to kiss my bare shoulder. "And lost track of time, and I was sad that I wouldn't be able to do this because you are supposed to be sleeping. So I drank some more."
I quirked a brow, "And you think I want to do this now since I am awake?" I asked her.
"Didn't you miss me?' She asked.
"So not the point." I said, using my index finger to tap her forehead. That was all it took to have her fall back. "Did you even do anything useful in the studio?"
"It's a good song, maybe we'll get another Grammy." Tori said and passed out.
I watched her for twenty minutes she wasn't going to move. I sighed and got out of bed and headed for the bathroom. I put on my robe, grabbed the wastebasket and the aspirin. I put them both on Tori's side of the bed. Then I picked up her clothes from the floor and walked out to the kitchen and grabbed a glass of water. I placed that in the night stand next to her, then grabbed my pillow, and my duvet and laid out on the Couch. My anxiety was so amped I couldn't sleep anyway. Work was going to be awful the next day.
Ep. 8: Medical Bonds
A Quiet Night shift during trauma surgery rotation, that hardly ever happens. Jo, Andrew, Sidney and Shae sat on gurneys in the hallway near the ER. "So what's the wildest surgery you've seen?" Shae said bouncing a tiny ball on a wall.
Andrew smiled "I was in the OR with Dr. Park, "she did a whole transplant. IT took hours and I loved every second."
"Sure beats an Appy…" Sydney said. "My thing was when this baby was born without an abdominal wall… guts everywhere. Dr. Clark had to put this baby's guts back in his body without getting them tangled. And their bodies are so tiny…"
"You ever seen a brain first hand?" Jo said her eyes were focusing far away. "Neuro surgery has been the most interesting and the most boring surgery I have ever witnessed. The dude was wide awake, and they made him do a whole bunch of things while they prodded at his brain trying to find the tiniest lesion… fascinating."
"Dang, you always get the coolest surgeries…" Then they all got a mass text. "OOP, that's our Cue."
All the interns hopped off the gurneys and ran back into the ER, Accident on the bridge has caused a 5 car pile up. "Thank god." Jo said and headed after the rest of them.
The late night sessions went on for days. I really didn't want to complain. But I missed her. The rest of the week was much of the same. As she also booked shows, and gest spots and Tori became a hot commodity, because now, she was an Actress and a notable singer and I was just her girlfriend.
On a Thursday, I sat at my desk at work, It was my break, and I continued to do what I thought would take our life from where I felt stuck. "Jorge, Necesito que me arregles el jardín, estoy vendiendo la casa." I said to the gardener. I know he is good, but I know he does a better job for me because I ask him in Spanish. I know I don't have to, he speaks perfect english he just thinks it's cute that this gringa tries... excuse me I slay Spanish. Jorge owns this huge Company, but he does it special for me and sends his best guys.
"Ah se muda Doctora, Claro que si, su casa va a parecer de millonarios." He stated. A million dollar house is exactly the impression I want to make because I am gonna need all of the equity that I can get for the new house.
"Gracias, vienen Manana?"
"Si, Doctora." he responded to coming the next day. I smile feeling a little accomplished. Forgetting a bit of my anxiety.
"Perfecto, hasta manana. Jorge, thanks a million." I said and went on to my email. I was asked to speak at a medical convention. I sighed. And accepted, because what else would I do? I could take Emma and Chloë with me and we could day trip San Diego together.
I growled frustrated that I was making plans, without the woman I loved. It didn't seem right. Id didn't seem like I was in a relationship with Tori and I was beginning to feel like my old self, the crazy Jade that haunted Hollywood arts and I was resenting Tori for it.
I should talk to her, but what was I going to say. That dream of being a pop star is triggering me, I need you in bed with me at night?
Maybe, but that wasn't Jade west.
I got up from my seat and walked out of my office and headed toward the desk. "Is my last appointment here?" I asked.
"Oh, they just called and had to cancel, they are stuck on the Five and will not make it at all." Ryan stated. I sighed and nodded.
"Awesome," I stated. "I'm gonna go home and play with my kid."
She smiled. "Enjoy."
I wiggled my brows and reached for my things in my office. I drove in Rush Hour traffic. I just kept driving remembering when the act alone would calm me. I got home and I laid eyes on my little girl and my hear soared. She was playing with Emma and Tori, whose face lit up like Broadway when she laid eyes on me and immediately felt all of the pressure and anxiety melt off of my body.
I couldn't speak so I smiled..
"Babe, you okay?" Tori said coming to hug me. And the moment she did, the lump in my throat released and I cried.
Emma froze where she sat. "Chloe, let's go get Mommy a plate of the dinner you made."
"What's wrong baby," Tori said lifting my face to look into her eyes.
"I can't do this." I said, 'I miss you, and You're never home, and I want you here with me."
Tori stood in front of me. She didn't move but she said. "Jade, Look at me."
Then finally I did and I saw the stress on her features, the tears she was holding back. "Tori?"
"Don't give up on me. I'm not going anywhere." Tori said and she was no longer holding back. "Please. We can do this together."
"You left me, mentally, I can't have that around Chloë." I said, and lifted an envelope I had been carrying arround for a couple of days. I had loked at them and signed the papers, and I was thinking about asking Tori to work with me on this, but she hadn't been herself, and I wasn't sure I would want this version of Tori to go in on this with me.
"What are those?" she asked and I gave them to her.
"I'm a Mamma" I said softly. "I want you to be a mamma too."
"Jade…" She said smiling.
"But not if you're going to be doing that all the time."
She looked up at me, then shook her head. "There is nothing I want more. I promise, I'm gonna be a grown up now I promise."
"You do know that this means that even if we don't work out, Chloë is yours right?"
"I have no plans of giving you up, and this little girl, she is ours. I love her." She said. "I know I haven't been myself, I just wanted to experience what Andre and I used to experience when we created when we were younger."
"You are thirty two years old Tori."
"I'm grown I know, I promise." She said and reached out to kiss me. "That's why I am home tonight."
"Mommy, I made you dinner." Chloë said bouncing back into the living room. I smiled at the little girl and picked her up and looked at an Apologetic Emma. I smiled at the other woman and walked away from Tori and the Papers in favor of the dinner my daughter made for me.
I felt a kiss on my shoulder hours later. After getting Chloë to bed and teasing Emma bout her date with the pizza guy. I went to bed exhausted from the emotional rollercoaster I had taken. And dropped into bed and was nearly asleep as Tori climbed into bed with me.
I moaned as her hand made its way around to cup my breast and her body molded itself against mine.. "I missed this body." Tori whispered against the skin of my neck. I shivered reacting fully to the touches.
"Entirely your fault." I groaned, and turned to face my girlfriend.
"I love you, Jade" She whispered and kissed my lips and moved down to my jawline. She topped me, moving me on to my back. She straddled my right hip as she moved to suckle on my neck.
"I love you too but if you don't fuck me right now…" I started and was stopped when she pressed her thumb to my center and quickly inserted two fingers inside me. I moaned as my brain practically imploded.
"I know you like surprises…" She whispered, "I never want to go another night without this." She whispered. I reached my hand out and held on to her hips.
I pulled her closer making her grind herself against my thigh. Her hips went wild then. Her wetness coating my thigh. I wrapped my arms around her and turned my head to capture her lips with mine. "Inside." She whispered.
I complied sticking two fingers inside her as she rode me and her fingers did the same in me.
"Fuck," I said and we moved together. It was raw and animalistic and it was as if we had a new understanding. We needed this. Like a reset to all of that stalemate.
We lay together panting afterward. "I don't think I should act anymore." I said.
"Really?" She said. "Would that make you happy?"
"No, but… I got recognized off of the one interview, the show isn't really out like that."
"Even if you don't do it, It is my job." she said softly.
"So I can't escape it?" I said softly, "can i?"
"Not really, so you might as well do what you love."
I looked over at her and smiled. "Thanks for putting it in perspective for me," she leaned forward and kissed me.
"Any time."
Ep. 9: Equal Opportunity Lover
Jo woke up one early morning, and She was half asleep and didn't have to be in til later in the afternoon. She strolled into the kitchen and the vision of Tara on the Kitchen counter, pressed against a blonde in a very compromising position. "Oh my god!" Jo said.
"Jo!" Tara said, covering her bare breasts. She slid off the counter and grabbed her shirt which had been discarded next to her. She followed Jo to her room, where the doctor had been pacing in anger and embarrassment. "Jojo… Hey! Stop please!" Tara said, holding Jo from behind.
"I can't," Jo said.
"You can't do what?" Tara said.
"How can you just… I didn't know you liked women." Jo burst out.
Tara was taken aback for a second but her posture changed making her look more confident. "I am an equal opportunity lover." Her brow furrowed anyway. "I didn't think… I mean you're gay!"
"Yeah… I am.. It's just…" Jo stated. She shook her head. "I just thought I knew you.
"You do know me. This just never came up." Tara said with a shrug.
"No?" Jo said, "How about when I said hey Tara I think I might be gay?"
Tara laughed. "Really?"
"Yeah maybe I wouldn't have felt so alone!" Jo said not finding it funny at all. "Maybe I would have felt understood."
Tara just looked at her friend confused. "You felt alone?"
"Every day!" Jo screamed. "I'm surrounded by heterosexuality, I didn't think anyone understood me, let alone you!"
"I'm so sorry...You're not alone." Tara whispered into Jo's hair as she embraced her best friend. "You're not alone."
Tori and I were having a Housewarming/Watch party at our new four-bedroom house in Malibu. The Feature that we mostly concentrated on was getting something Just like my $90,000 shower. My shower was great but the shower in our new house… could house all of our friends at the same time.
We had stopped filming the show six weeks before, and My schedule was back to normal. I had office hours, surgical hours and I was home with Chloë almost every night. Tori and I had become a family fairly easily. This whole experience with us working together as lovers on screen was so much fun, and I wouldn't mind if we had to do that three month filming every six months.
"Babe, it's starting. Tori said, getting my attention. I was on my phone with a patient.
"Okay, " I directed at Tori. Then I went back to my phone call in the kitchen. "Okay so the thing about headaches is that they could be any number of things. I don't think Skyler needs surgery, but I don't even know what to scan for, and I need to see him to determine exactly what needs to be done. Bring him in in the morning."
"Thanks Dr. West…" Mrs. Keenan hesitated. She and I went way back, her twelve-year-old started coming to me from the beginning of my practice. He was my very first patient. "Jade… how are things since Kris died?"
"Oh… Sarah, I… well I adopted Chloë and I moved. I live with a beautiful woman whom I have loved almost all my life." I answered.
I could hear the smile in her voice. "I expect an invitation to that wedding."
I laughed. "I haven't asked anyone to marry me."
"It's coming. Trust me." Sarah said
"Well… I'll see you tomorrow." I said, and we hung up. I smiled down at the phone for a bit before walking out to the living room. I had just managed to wipe the smile off my face when I plopped down on the chaise between Tori's legs.
I leaned back and allowed her to wrap her arms around me. She kissed my temple as I said. "What did I miss?"
"You missed Tori's Character getting it on with that Carter Chick. Then walking away like a boss." Andre said.
"That is so… Tori like." Cat responded Cuddling with Robbie. Tori's heart began to pound in her chest, and her breathing became shallow. Before she could say anything Robbie cut in.
"Cat, it's not… " then he looked over at us.
I looked up at her. She was flushed but she wouldn't take her eyes off the screen. I smirked to myself. "Yeah it was… but not anymore."
Her heart stopped pounding immediately, and her body relaxed against mine. I let out a sigh.
"There was laughter around me. Mainly Cat and Andre recognizing that equal opportunity lover line as one of my own. They asked me that same thing when I started dating women, and that was my answer.
"Jade," Tori whispered in my ear. I turned my head in response and kissed her cheek. "I don't want to be thought of like Tara is."
"I don't think of you like that." I whispered back, our noses and lips almost touching.
We stared for a while. "Marry me," She whispered and I froze. I swear I stopped breathing. She began to look worried, but all I could think was how did Sarah know. "Jade… I'm—"
My lips being pressed against hers interrupted her. Applause exploded around us, and Trina squealed. "That better mean yes Gothica."
I looked up at Trina, then back and Tori. "Duh!" I said, my voice just a low rumble. I said it with my chest.
Tori smiled and kissed me again. "I love you."
"I love you too." I answered.
